She either looked over my chart, or spoke with the nurse before meeting me, and started our conversation right away addressing my situation. This may seem so small- but I can tell you it's not the norm for other physicians in the industry. I've seen the same OBGYN multiple days in a row, even while getting ready for surgery- and had them suggest multiple times that I could start a "new" medication, when I'm already on that medication. In a busy practice with lots of patients I can only imagine how difficult it is to be on time and keep things straight, but it's a terrible feeling when you're at some of your lowest moments to realize your doctor doesn't have the faintest idea who you are and couldn't be bothered to glance at your chart before scurrying into your room. Dr. Bannon made me feel like a person who mattered, and that is a lost gift. She did not make me feel rushed, and took the time to talk about my concerns and answered all of my questions. I'm so, so relieved I found her. Definitely worth the wait in trying to make an appointment and see her for the first time.

I CANNOT recommend Dr. Montesharrei enough to anyone. 12/10 stars, if possible!…read more As you know, finding a medical provider, especially a specialty provider like an OB, can be uncomfortable and quite nerve-wracking. (For context, I am someone who lives in San Francisco year round for the past 12 years and has little to no ties with anyone besides family in the DMV). As a new patient, client, etc, you want to feel welcomed into the practice. As the provider/office of the provider, from the first call, you want to start building that trust and relationship ASAP (which is great human kindness AND business development practice). I had been emailing and calling around due to some severed side effects due to a hormonal IUD insertion (it's not for everyone, and that's okay), and felt very panicked and disheartened that I couldn't schedule anything for the week with any other provider I had called. When Dr. Montesharrei's receptionist picked up, she was warm and told me the doctor does have openings for new patients even the day of!! This was mentally and physically life-saving to me, I near cried after having called into offices where they were less warm and told me that things were different and would take longer because I am a new patient. I happily booked an appointment for the next day through coordination with the receptionist on the phone and with their online system via ZocDoc. The friendly receptionist got the appointment confirmed in the duration of 10 minutes and guided me to their new patient form on their website to fill out prior to arrival. The office was very clean and chic, not too busy on a Tuesday afternoon. Check in and arrival went smoothly, and I was greeted by yet another friend staff member (different from the receptionist I had spoken to on the phone the prior day). I had forgotten to fill out the medical history page on the back side of my print out and was gently reminded to do that as the receptionist took down my insurance information. Despite being an Out of Network office, I appreciate that the staff there file a courtesy claim with your insurance anyways. In terms of COVID protocols, hand sanitizers everywhere, and a medical assistant takes your temperature before you are taken to an examination room in the back. Cathy my medical assistant was also very kind and showed sympathy for my terrible side effects with my IUD as she took down my vitals and triaged me. Cathy gave me an ibuprofen to take for the quick IUD removal procedure I wanted to get the day of. After Cathy came and went with my comprehensive triage, Dr. Montesharrei herself came in a minute later, warmly introduced herself and we chatted about casual things for about 5-10 minutes to wait for what I suspect was for the ibuprofen to kick in. I won't lie, I had not had an MD give me the time of day to hear about where I've come from like an old friend, talk deeply about my concerns with the hormonal changes and pain from the IUD from the doctor herself. Dr. Montesharrei didn't just review triage notes a minute before coming in, she came in and listened to everything else I had said to Cathy and more, as the provider at this gyn office. Most providers take down the important notes and rush you in and out, but you were actually a human to Dr. Montesharrei, just a human who happened to need her help medically. Everything moved very quickly from then, though there were nice little minute breaks in between visits, overall the appointment upon arrival for registering as a new patient, triaging, urine sample, consultation with Dr. Montesharrei, the actual IUD removal (mine was probably just a few seconds, very quick and painless, speculum was uncomfortable per usual), blood workup took about an hour. Again, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Dr. Montesharrei to anyone who is new or old to the DMV, she is by far one of the only MD providers I've ever come across who expresses such concern, care, and is not biased against taking new patients! The doctor and entire staff are so sympathetic and friendly, I had a great experience even though I went in worried and low-key terrified.

I chose the practice because of Dr. Bannon's reputation, however, she wasn't taking new patients when I registered. I met with Dr. Hennessy and really liked her. Each time I went in for a check-up I saw her, and received an ultrasound to confirm that all was well with the pregnancy. Their ultrasound equipment isn't very state of the art, but it's enough to see baby and that it is growing as it should. Dr. Hennessy tends to speak rather fast, which at times can come across as dismissive or that she's trying to rush through the appointment. I recently had it brought to my attention that I can tend to speak this way at work, which made me realize that it's just her manner of speaking and not that she's actually trying to push you out the door. As a first time mother I was rather neurotic and I was never made to feel that I was pestering them with ridiculous questions. Dr. Hennessy was very open to what I wanted (be that a scheduled c-section or a natural birth from start to finish) and didn't make me feel as if one was right or wrong. My mother-in-law had a previous traumatic experience with pregnancy loss. Dr. Hennessy was great with giving us things we could tell her to put her at ease and at one point letting her come back to see an ultrasound to reassure her that everything really was OK with this pregnancy. In the end, due to timing, Dr. Hennessy didn't deliver my baby, another doctor at the practice did. He was fantastic, friendly and made me feel as at ease as he could, considering that I wound up with an emergency c-section (my son was rather large). The after care I received was attentive, and excellent. Dr. Armstrong saw me the day after my delivery and explained to me, in detail, the pros and cons of circumcision as well as the after care I would need (he also explained this to my family, which was nice). So long as I'm in the area Dr. Hennessy will be my OB/GYN. I am deducting a star for the following reasons (really, not major). - The offices are rather small and cramped. It's hard to get around the hallways and the lab room. The rooms also leave a bit to be desired in terms of facilities and decor (looks like they haven't been updated since 1986). - Depending on who you get, the lab staff can be a bit cranky. There are a few who are just stellar, friendly, helpful, but there are a few who are grumpy and make you feel like you're an annoyance just by virtue of being there.

The staff was very friendly and helpful! When Dr. Lawson came out to get me she took me back to her office for about a 10 - 15 minute consultation about my history, her background, and it was a really nice personable touch before taking me into the room for my appointment. Not that anyone truly enjoys getting their annual checkups, but for what it's worth this was just an all around pleasant experience and I definitely will recommend the practice to my girlfriends. *Ok the only downside is that during my consultation Dr. Lawson told me that sadly she will be moving back to Georgia this summer and mentioned the other doctors are really great and she also gave me a recommendation of a Primary Care Physician if I needed one.

Upon arriving at her office the first time, I was presented with their financial policy, which lists a bunch of non-insurable charges, such as a charge to speak to Dr. Maciulla over the phone if you have a request or fees for paper filing. This certainly raised an eyebrow, but hey, I was already in the office, awaiting my appointment. She was pretty chatty and friendly at first. She even went on to tell me the 411 about all her children and how one of them almost died because of a poor doctoral diagnosis. And my physical exam was relatively pleasant. However, her and her office became a total nightmare to deal with after a mixup with prescription. Not knowing that there was a generic version released for a medication I needed, I simply told her the name of the medicine for the prescription. Upon arriving at CVS, I was given a generic because the prescription didn't say Brand-only. I had called her office to correct this which they did for the onsite pharmacy. However, when I asked them to do the same for the mail-order prescription since she wrote 2 prescriptions for me that time, they became the most difficult people to work with. In fact, she yelled at me over the phone, telling me how I was wasting her time and that it is my responsibility to tell her upfront if I preferred branded despite my having explained that I didn't know a generic was available. She refused to write me another prescription with charging me $10 despite knowing that it was a honest mistake by both parties. So, lesson learned is to avoid these bloodsucking money-hungry doctors. You want a doctor that's going to be there for you when you need them rather than being all self-centered.
