Dr. Hennessy saw me through my first pregnancy, but I received care from many of the doctors on staff during that time, and I feel the care I received was excellent. I chose the practice because of Dr. Bannon's reputation, however, she wasn't taking new patients when I registered. I met with Dr. Hennessy and really liked her. Each time I went in for a check-up I saw her, and received an ultrasound to confirm that all was well with the pregnancy. Their ultrasound equipment isn't very state of the art, but it's enough to see baby and that it is growing as it should. Dr. Hennessy tends to speak rather fast, which at times can come across as dismissive or that she's trying to rush through the appointment. I recently had it brought to my attention that I can tend to speak this way at work, which made me realize that it's just her manner of speaking and not that she's actually trying to push you out the door. As a first time mother I was rather neurotic and I was never made to feel that I was pestering them with ridiculous questions. Dr. Hennessy was very open to what I wanted (be that a scheduled c-section or a natural birth from start to finish) and didn't make me feel as if one was right or wrong. My mother-in-law had a previous traumatic experience with pregnancy loss. Dr. Hennessy was great with giving us things we could tell her to put her at ease and at one point letting her come back to see an ultrasound to reassure her that everything really was OK with this pregnancy. In the end, due to timing, Dr. Hennessy didn't deliver my baby, another doctor at the practice did. He was fantastic, friendly and made me feel as at ease as he could, considering that I wound up with an emergency c-section (my son was rather large). The after care I received was attentive, and excellent. Dr. Armstrong saw me the day after my delivery and explained to me, in detail, the pros and cons of circumcision as well as the after care I would need (he also explained this to my family, which was nice). So long as I'm in the area Dr. Hennessy will be my OB/GYN. I am deducting a star for the following reasons (really, not major). - The offices are rather small and cramped. It's hard to get around the hallways and the lab room. The rooms also leave a bit to be desired in terms of facilities and decor (looks like they haven't been updated since 1986). - Depending on who you get, the lab staff can be a bit cranky. There are a few who are just stellar, friendly, helpful, but there are a few who are grumpy and make you feel like you're an annoyance just by virtue of being there. read more

I am so happy a friend referred me to this practice since after moving up from Atlanta I have had no success in finding a good Primary Care Physician, let alone a GYN. The staff was very friendly and helpful! When Dr. Lawson came out to get me she took me back to her office for about a 10 - 15 minute consultation about my history, her background, and it was a really nice personable touch before taking me into the room for my appointment. Not that anyone truly enjoys getting their annual checkups, but for what it's worth this was just an all around pleasant experience and I definitely will recommend the practice to my girlfriends. *Ok the only downside is that during my consultation Dr. Lawson told me that sadly she will be moving back to Georgia this summer and mentioned the other doctors are really great and she also gave me a recommendation of a Primary Care Physician if I needed one. read more

I could not have a better doctor! Dr. Armstrong was recommended to me when it was determined I needed to have surgery. From the first appointment/consultation with him on, he's treated me as a person, not simply as a patient. He takes the time to treat you, but also to talk with you and spend time explaining things, answering questions and helps you to make the best decisions possible. Dr. Armstrong performed my surgery and treated me with supurb care. My surgery was more complicated that anticipated (not due to any error by Dr. Armstrong, but rather inaccurate diagnostics) and he took the time to not only take the best care of me, but also to make sure I was okay both physically and emotionally. This was so important to me as this was the first surgery I'd ever had and it was very emotional (due to the type of surgery and associated recovery). And his "bedside manner" is fantastic. He treats you professionally, but on a personal level. He genuinely cares about your well-being and treats you as such. While in the hospital (btw VA Hospital Center OBGYN nurses are the best), Dr. Bannon was the doctor in residence. She also took the time to care for me, both physically and emotionally. She spent time talking to me, on a personal level. Again, that is so appreciated. I am very thankful I found Dr. Armstrong (and Dr. Bannon). They took the absolute best care of me. Dr. Hennessey has been my primary OB for two of my babies (delivered one) and she has been amazing. Very thorough and friendly. And amazingly runs very close to on time. The staff in the office are wonderful. Have seen her partners on occasion and all have been great. Would highly recommend. read more

Drs. Armstrong, Bannon & Lawson are enthusiastic OB/GYNs. They are very professional, but fun. I switched to them when I was 16 weeks pregnant because they were recommended by nurses at Virginia Hospital Center where I wanted to deliver. I have recommended them to several friends -- all of whom love the office as well. Pros - Outstanding demeanor; Fun, calm, very honest and explain things in easy-to-understand terms; make time to sit down and talk with you, in their offices not on an exam table, with every visit; have multiple in-office sonogram machines, so you can see the baby every visit Cons - Sometimes long waits b/c they spend so much time with each patient; high supporting staff turnover; sometimes hard to get next-day appointments when needed read more

Excellent doctors with poor staff, organization and their professionals manners are seriously lacking. But, we are having a baby and my GF refuses to find another doctor. She's the boss in this instance, though if it were up to me we would've changed physicians already. read more

Today i had my first visit with Dr. Bannon and she is nothing short of AMAZING! I will recommend her to everyone. She answered all of my questions, took time to sit down and chat with me about my health history and concerns prior to the examination. I've been with this practice for a couple of years now and have been generally happy. I switched from a practice in Fairfax due to the proximity to my home and work. The doctors are nice, but I can't say that they are outstanding. Last year I was surprised to learn that I was prescribed a medicine that was detrimental to an existing condition I have (that was made aware to the doctor). My brother (who is also a Dr. alerted me not to continue taking it). Even after that, I stayed with the practice (mainly because of the convenience). Recently, I developed a problem and was in a lot of pain. When I called to make an appointment, I was told that they didn't have any available appointments for several weeks and to go my family practice or emergency care. This was a GYN issue and I needed to be seen by a GYN. Needless to say, I was shocked. My old OB/GYN would have never done this. This practice obviously does not care about its patients. I will be switching back to my old doctors. I would not recommend this office. read more

This is a wonderful, caring practice. I wanted doctors that would be receptive to natural, drug-free birth in a hospital setting and got it with these doctors. Dr. Lawson (no longer there) was my regular doctor for pre-natal checkups but Dr. Armstrong ended up delivering my son. I didn't mind because all of the doctors are really warm and they were all on board with my birth plan, even though it wasn't par for the course for them. The staff is always friendly as well. I wish I could give a higher rating, but, the practice recently switched to being managed by INOVA and has gone downhill. I delivered my first child with this practice, and will say without any hesitation that Dr. Bannon is wonderful. She is truly caring and has years of experience to support you throughout your pregnancy and delivery. However, in considering expanding our family, I wanted to speak to Dr. Bannon about precautions and concerns to consider in light of the zika virus, as well as planned international work travel and corresponding vaccinations for that trip. I tried to reach Dr. Bannon by phone which has always been a smooth process prior to management by INOVA. However, this time, when I missed her first phone call and attempted to return it, I was told that I would need to come in for an in person consultation. I am a working mother with no local family to help with the day to day management of everything, so the thought of having to take time off of work and drive 1 hour round trip for an appointment plus wait time and appointment time just to have a five minute conversation that could be accomplished over the phone is really ridiculous. The condescending nurse who spoke with me essentially chalked it up to the INOVA business practices that dictate how the doctors can engage with their patients. Additionally, when my insurance company needed records as part of a review for life insurance, the office completely ommitted my recent history and visits (everything that occurred since the INOVA switch) which led to an initial decline of the case review until I called and figured out between the two companies that the office had dropped the ball. I guess this means I'm in the market for a new practice unfortunately. read more

I have been going to this practice for 8 years now, and originally began coming based on the high recommendation of my employer. I have been VERY happy with every Dr in this practice and I have seen them all. Dr. Armstrong has been my primary Dr here, and has seen me through 3 different children/births/etc...I can't speak highly enough of him. The 2 downsides to this practice are: 1. Several of the nurses are not very friendly. Many times they don't even pretend to be happy to see patients, nor do they even desire to talk "small talk" while taking vitals, blood, etc...They only seem to talk amongst themselves. If they would even smile and pretend to be happy to see me I would be giving this practice five stars and them some!!!! 2. After 3 children I got to know when I should and shouldn't make appointments because so often the wait times were very long and the waiting area is not too big. I highly recommend making an appointment either first thing in the morning or first thing after lunch! read more

Dr. Armstrong saw me through both of my pregnancies and delivered both of my children. I can't say enough positive things about this practice. These doctors are personable, professional, warm, and GREAT at what they do. Dr. Armstrong never rushed me out of his office to tend to the next patient, he always took the time to answer all of my questions, address all of my concerns, and made me comfortable with every decision I had to make along the way. read more

I have been a patient at this office since 2005. My physician is Dr. Armstrong. He has seen me through ups and downs. Always, I can count on a smile from Dr. A. He is patient and professional. Dr Bannon is excellent--her supporting staff is unprofessional, incompetent, and frankly, rude. 6 weeks ago, I called to cancel my annual OB appointment due to a dramatic change in my work schedule--due to both our schedules the next appointment would not be for two months. The front desk assured me that I would receive a 2 month extension on my prescription. One week later, I show up at my pharmacist fully expecting to fill my birth control. They had no record of any calls from Dr. Bannon's office. The pharmacist took pity on me and gave me a month's supply to tide me over until I could contact my doctor. It took me a week to get a human being on the phone. Then I was informed that there was NO way I could have got a two month extension--they are only authorized to give one month--I asked why was I told this was ok by BOTH the appointment scheduler and the pharmacy contact--I was clearly mistaken. This was not the first incident of this kind. And they were so RUDE about it! read more
