This is the classic massive corporate monopoly on all things construction, home appliances, and root beer. Easy to navigate for a huge overwhelming setup, plenty to entice all needs and treat all woof peckers, us two guys quickly pulled out a bit of trim and noticed solid new ginger beer too. Lowes, Ace Hardware, and Menards continue to be my favorite yet it is awkward the billions harvested from this chain haven't turned into proper pay for employees. read more

I called ahead to ask if they had some items in stock. They had what I needed (only 2 left and I needed both) and said they would hold until I got there. Drove over an hour to this store and when I arrived they were rude and said they put the items back. I told them I would be right there and that I was driving some distance. I asked to talk to a manager and the manager was just as rude and unapologetic. I would have gladly paid for the items in advance if they needed me to, but they said holding was no problem as long as I got there the same day. Don't expect good customer service from this store or any other Menards for that matter. We have had very similar experiences at the Peoria store too. This is exactly why I don't shop Menards unless I have to. read more

I went to look at refrigerators on October 1st. 2018 at Menards located in Washington Il. I was told that the delivery would be only 69.00. When I went to get all the paperwork done up on the refrigerator I picked out, they added on an additional 30.00 extra to the delivery saying I lived two miles farther than expected then said that because the fridge was 18cu ft, it was an additional 10.00. So they added a total of 30.00 more on at the last minute. So to anyone who reads this, be aware that what they will tell you will not be what you will pay and a person is only as good as their word. read more

I bought a high end storm door from menards. After working on the door for 3 hours we realize the reason it won't shut is because it's missing the latch rail and weather stripping. Run back to Menards and they don't have any more in stock so I say fine I have to get this done so I will run to north Peoria for one so we can complete the project. The employee says they won't open a box there. What??? He said we would but they won't. Now if I bought this at Home Depot or Lowes this wouldn't be a problem. But I am stuck having to drive there and buy a new door and then return the door after I take out what was missing from the original door.... read more

Menard's used to be my favorite store and I would give them five stars on customer service, product selection and cleanliness. But, on customer consideration, I would rate them a ZERO. Home improvement stores are extremely large and if you park near the entrance, you have to go clear to the other end to checkout. Then you have to walk all the way back to your car. Why isn't the checkout in the middle of the store? Now, they have eliminated the entrance to the garden shop, creating even more time and effort to get there. In addition, now you have to take your garden purchases to the regular checkout. I know they want you to wander around and maybe buy something you didn't consider before you came. But, when you know what you want, the last thing you want to do it waste time and effort to get what you came for. I am not getting any younger and it is becoming an effort just to shop here. I have made myself a promise not to buy anything in the garden store even though I like their flowers. Lowes and Home Depot are more considerate of their customers. read more

I had a very good experience today at Menards in Naperville, Il. I mistakenly left my purse at this store. I did not recall taking my wallet out of my purse while shopping. I called every location I called every place I had been, but of course everyone said "no purse was left here, or turned in". I just resolved that somehow someone got to my purse and had taken it. I decided to call the store and someone had pointed it out to a sales person who put it aside. I was so happy, I decided to take time to write a review. I shop here because people greet you in a upbeat manner. I really do enjoy some of the people working there; they really do seem to authentically want to help you. I would certainly recommend this store in Naperville located near Aurora rd & Route 59. read more

Menards has definitely made a shift towards hiring employees that are clueless about home improvement. Asked a snotty female employee today where a vinyl light block was, even though it was right by us,she had no idea what I was even talking about. They seem to get by on a few people knowing anything, and that is in the plumbing department. Last week another employee tried confronting me for picking trash up off the floor and setting it on their shelf. Keep your store clean yourself. My opinion is 97% of their staff are total idiots, and don't deserve their paychecks. read more

Picked up special order. Ordered thousands of dollars of decking, some picked up in October. Stair rail on back order and finally came in. Clerk had problems with our receipt when checking out, it showed picked up in Oct and signed for. "Ashley" was called to assist clerk. Without actually saying it, she accused us of shoplifting and was quite loud about it. We were told we were not allowed to leave store until surveillance tapes checked. I went to the deck counter, explained to clerk. He checked computer, ran off receipt and went to main desk to resolve issue. Ashley needs retrained in people skills. Why she didn't just ask us to go to the desk to resolve the issue and do what I did, instead of strutting around with such a chip on her shoulder. And, also, the railing was damaged when we picked it up, but took it anyway because it would have been cut off. read more
