This is the classic massive corporate monopoly on all things construction, home appliances, and…read moreroot beer. Easy to navigate for a huge overwhelming setup, plenty to entice all needs and treat all woof peckers, us two guys quickly pulled out a bit of trim and noticed solid new ginger beer too. Lowes, Ace Hardware, and Menards continue to be my favorite yet it is awkward the billions harvested from this chain haven't turned into proper pay for employees.

This one could take awhile. I was just on the phone with Brandon, I guess he is the top guy at…read moreMenards in Washington, IL. At least that is how he made me feel, he says he has an assistant named Brandon also. Sound strange but could be true, I guess. He acted like the second Brandon or what he kept saying his assistant, like the second Brandon was his puppy or something. What would the first Brandon even call the second Brandon. Back to the main point in hand, we called Brandon number 2 on Saturday maybe it could have been Sunday but I don't think so. Had a brain tumor not that long ago, hard to remember dates but good with names especially when they are the same name (Brandon + Brandon) easy enough. So my wife and I went into Menards, the Washington, IL Menards. I have to be specific here because it is all about the small things, I wonder how many menards are in the United States. This will be a great story to tell at dinner time, so I am losing track again. My wife and I went into Mendards in Washington Illinois to purchase a gas powered self propelled mover. We settled on the Ariens mower, read a lot about the brand. A good quality mower, we purchased it in April, I think on the 15th day. We didn't use the mower for two months until our older mower finally died. We purchased that one at Menards in Washington IL also. We do a lot of business at that Menards now that I think about it. My neighbor works at that store, good guy. So we use the mower and mow about three times and the front wheels stop propelling us. It is a front wheel drive model, we take it to the only place in Central Illinois that does warranty work on this brand of mower. It is called small enging repair in Sunnyland, the warranty gets turned down. They say becuase it had too much where and tear on it. We only mowed with it 3 times, come to find out it is a 2021 or a 2022 Mower. I know, we were just as shocked to find this out. So we called Brandon number #2, he says your absoulutely correct we should have told you that it was a four or five year old mower bring it it we will swap you even for the same model or close to it. We were excited, still disappointed but excited. To go to a store and purchase what you thought you were purchasing all a long. Strange but true (Metallica) so my wife goes and picks up the mower at the place that does warranty work on this brand of mower and takes it to Menards. Well Brandon #2, (something funny about calling him #2) is off today and my wife tells the other managers at the store what Brandon #2 says and they say well we will have to speak with Brandon #2. This is where the story gets better, I call and end up speaking with Chris, I could tell early on his was a buy the book type of guy. Chris also mentioned that he doesn't own a mower, sounded a little old to be leaving in an apartment but maybe he still lives at home. More power to him, who doesn't want their 35 year old kid living in the basement. Off track, stay on track. Well I speak with Chris (just Chris) no other managers named Chris. He was the OFFICE MANAGER, what does that mean. For some reason I am picturing the late and great Chris Farley or even Uncle Buck. Stay on task, so he goes on and tells me he is a buy the book type of guy. So Chris they sold me a 2021 or 2022 model mower and didn't tell me and you think that is ok. When you see your parents tonight ask them what they think. So I ask for the actuall Store Manager, he said he was the store manager not the General Manager. A typical store the size of Menards in Washington Illinos would have 3 General Managers, what if another one was named Brandon. I would not be able to work there, with the brain tumor I had three Brandons would be just a lot of Brandons. I am not even talking about the department managers. I could be wrong about the number of General Managers but depending on how busy the store is, it can employ 10-15 managers. I am going off key here again, how come you can never find anyone to help you. That is crazy, getting back, stay the path. I spoke to Brandon #1, now I don't know if he is the number #1 guy in the Store or just Brandon#1. He says to me on the phone essentially we don't need to know the year, you purchased the unit your are going to have to live with it. Not the kind of support I was looking for especially after Brandon #2 said that they would definately take care of us. I asked if that was his line in the sand and without giveing it a second thought Bradon number one said yes it is. So did they break the law, that is the question. Well the Illinois Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Act prohibits deceptive practices in consumer transactions. Did they not know it was possibly a three or four year old mower and were playing stupid. Now I could call Ariens and see if it was ever sold before and brought back to the store because the tires were dirty and it had several scratches and yellow paint on it. I think that would make a stronger case, but lets just get
