I'll admit it, I am a huge sucker for places with catchy jingles. I have grown up stopping by Menards with my parents, and now that I'm a homeowner, I have made so many pilgrimages to this shop. Sure, there are fewer than them compared to other stores, but it's also cleaner and more organized. When I look up products online, I can set my store and the website will tell me which aisle and row the item is in (with a map schematic!), and the inventory is scary accurate. I once cried at the orange hardware store because strangely enough it carried a product Menards did not offer, but I couldn't find it and none of the store employees could either. That was a long day. That would never happen at Menards. Aside from that one incident, I have found that Menards carries a wider selection in general compared to other hardware stores, and often sells the same product for much cheaper. The only thing I don't like is that you have to mail in the rebates for store credit. Like, why is this? Modernize already! Additionally, I love the plant selection that Menards offers. Even on clearance, the plants look gorgeous and hold up well. They also have a policy that if a checkout line is more than two customers deep, they open another line. read more

Horrible I bought a lawnmower from there. First time we use it. It would not work want to take it back they wouldn't accept it told us to take it for a repair and something brand new got it fixed then waiting for my rebate check of almost $50 went to use it and I couldn't use it. They said somebody reported it stolen so then I had to go and get a new refund check to use. I will not be shopping at this store. Very rude customer service you can't even call and talk to anybody. Went in the other day and seen these giant bins that I had been looking at to store decorations and they were with all the seasonal marked down items for 50% off the original 29.99, the sign was literally on the shelf above the items. I grabbed 3 of them and when I went to check out they rang up 27.99 I told the cashier John that they were supposed to to be 50% off and he looked at me and said "yeah, no I don't think so!" I told him there was a sign and I would show him. He grabbed who I assume was a manger named Molly and I told her the same thing, and she instead looked the item up on her phone. I told her there was a sign and I would show her. She walked over and I showed her and she said that's not for those items, I said it's literally above the items and all she said was well sorry. I said so you're not going to honor the sign and she's like "nope" and just walked away! Horrible customer service and just disrespectful! I will be returning all 3! Save your self and just go across the street to HD I emailed corporate and spoke with the general managers assistant who after initial contact ignored my response email, only to have the actual general manager reach out to me and do nothing. He basically said even though the placement of the totes and signage are deceptive to customers the sign states no totes (in the smallest print)! Told me he had totes all over the store as "filler" and for end caps and that don't mean they are on sale just because a sign is there, not sure why they have signs then. He also didn't address the rude customer service until I brought it up and couldnt explain to me why Molly would leave the sign above the totes if it caused confusion about the sale. SHAME IN YOU, MENARDS!!! We ordered a door from Menards. When the door was being delivered, we noted to the driver that the door was chipped and cracked in several places, etc. The driver also agreed. Therefore, we did not accept the delivery. We contacted the store and they said they would reorder. However, when the replacement came in the store, the salesperson indicated there were several imperfections in the door and we would have to use wood putty to fill the cracks and repaint the door. The sales person indicated he would send a picture of the replacement, but did not follow through with sending the picture. My son, who paid and ordered the door spoke to the manager of the store and indicated that he would not accept an inferior door. He asked for a refund. When he got to the store, Menards charged him over $130+ for an undelivered door due to no fault on our part, the customer. How is it the customer responsible for delivery charges when their product was undeliverable? There was no indication on the receipt that this was a policy. Never pointed out or stated upon purchase or appointment date for delivery. We did not accept the delivery and the first door was not deliverable because of the cracks in the door, paint was chipped and the glass was not properly set. The delivery person took pictures, we took pictures and offered to send them to Menards, but they refused to look at them. Menards, is cheating people out of their money. I would not recommend them to anyone. Their products are inferior in quality and their customer service is very poor. The store salesperson indicated that had we accepted the inferior product, we would not have been charged for delivery. Really??? Menards, you need to get your act together. A customer that wants to make a purchase from the yard behind the store first has to go to the corner of the store diagonally opposite the entrance, make the order, then take the paperwork back to the front of the store to pay for it, then drive around to the back to pick it up. Not a problem - make your order online and drive into the yard to pick it up, right? Wrong. Menards gives you an email confirmation with a rebate coupon and a receipt for your purchase attached. All three have a barcode printed on it. I printed the receipt - but the gate to get into the yard wouldn't recognize it. Silly me, taking the receipt and expecting that (together with its bar code) was sufficient to pick up my order. Wrong again. The gate attendant was as un-helpful as possible, and directed the line of cars and trailers that had formed behind me to back up rather than just letting me through to turn around in the yard. The attendant's suggestion? Go back to the front of the store so they can print the correct bar code, then come back again. (!!) I did go to the front of the store again, where they were kind enough to cancel my order. Their assistance is the only reason I can justify the one star rating you see here. I was hunting for tomato cages during the month of August. I tried in all the stores that sell cages but, no luck. They were all sold out in-store and none of the stores were taking online orders too. After long struggle found the cages online in menards website. Though it wasn't available in my store, I decided to place the order. These cages were one of the best cages I've seen. The price is same as it is sold in the other stores. Very strong ones and super quality. I was very much impressed with my order. My pick up was not in the regular store but from the yard which is located outside the regular building. Yard pickup is mostly for wholesale items I believe. Picking up order was simple and quick. I highly recommend tomato cages here !! It was worth traveling to this branch for pick up. read more

Labor Day 2024 4:30 pm Dumb n Dumber has no clue how much you are paying these uneducated employees.  Prior to making my trip I looked up a unique fuel filter for my push lawn mower,  the only place that stocks it.  I added it to my cart so I could find the location.  I found it in the lawnmower section along with a fuel line for the mower.  An associate was in the aisle stocking,  I asked where the automotive fuel line was located,  yes already looked in every aisle automotive with no luck.  The associate did look at his hand held device and sorry we don't stock that.  So I go into the store app and select Hoses. It shows me many options at the other end of the store in Plumbing aisle 20 to be exact.  Jackpot ten different sizes Black Automotive Hose for Fuel and Power Steering and Coolant to, not 1 person in this store has a clue. After checking out I stopped at the service counter across from the checkout area.  Two mature adults, one Dumb and one Dumber.  I believe one was a manager,  told my story and get this.  Dumb one says if it's not in Automotive we don't stock it Duh, take a look at this .  Dumber one manager looking guy says if it's in Plumbing it's not Automotive Hose. Guys move these Hoses to the Automotive section store,  retrain all employees how to properly help a customer like at Lowe's where I mainly shop.  Including my photos of the product plainly shows the Automotive Fuel Line product by a large company.  I told them I have 50 years experience and you could learn something from an old guy like me.  Also I spent 30 years in Automotive repair management to say your company SUCKS. read more

Since I've left Menards, I've only been back 4 or 5 times within the last year. Being threatened by the GM at the time, Christopher Fisher, really doesn't make me wanna come back when theirs a Home Depot across the street, but I shop at all hardware stores regardless. Whenever I did shop here, at the Taylor location, within the last year, everyone seemed on edge and I couldn't get any help. I'd like to give a shout out to Miguel and Mike S, two stand up guys and they've been a big help to me the last few times I shopped within the last year... Now today, I came back to check out the store and do some shopping. I have to say, now that Christopher Fisher is gone, the stores attitude has drastically changed, and for the better in my opinion. Everyone seems happier, everyone had a smile on their face, the store is much cleaner, and even the stocker who pretends to work an does nothing for extra hours was actually working for a change. Dear I say, it felt almost laid back and it felt like a better work environment for the staff of the store, I was a bit jealous. The new GM, Denzel, is clearly doing a good job so far. read more

My husband and I went to Menards to order a front door. We received assistance from a salesperson. We demonstrated how our door opens. The salesperson stated then you order the opposite to get the correct door. My husband corrected the salesperson and again the salesperson reassured us and he placed the special order. We picked the door up a week later. Once we loaded it, drove hlme, and inloaded the heavy door we realized the door would open the wrong way. We loaded the door back up and drove back to the store where we were told store policy states we would be charged a restocking fee! The fee came out to $344. We talked to the manager who stood by that policy. Prior to today I shopped at Menards regularly. I absolutely cannot shop at a store that cares so little about good customer service. We should have received an apology along with a store credit for our inconvenience. I expected better from Menards. Customers need to beware when ordering anything from Mdnards. read more

Shopping here is OK as far as product. But service are. guest services are. when they make a mistake ordering, they say it's your problem. They'll fix it at your expense. They will reorder, but they will not pay to take the product out of your bathroom. Pay the contractor to reinstall the correct vanity. So you're basically screwed out of your money at their mistake. My contractor will not use them anymore. We'll go to Home Depot or Lowe's. read more

My husband and I were shopping at the Taylor Menards, for a wall sander and Jeff, who came to the rescue, made sure we new exactly what we needed. Jeff was very patient as you could see how he listened to every concern we had. He directed us to all the materials we needed to finish our kitchen. I will tell you, his customer service skills are exceedingly rare! You just don't find this anywhere, anymore. I would also like to shout out to Madison and Camille! If im doing home improvement. This is where i get what i need. The store is always clean and bright. Folks who work there are helpful and friendly. Prices are cheaper than everyone else and i get an 11% rebate to buy things when i come back. Great gardening department and most items are superior quality. They have saved me thousands of dollars. Oh they also have some appliances and odds and ends as well as a decently stocked auto dept. I even buy my car batteries here. read more

This is my preferred Menard's when I am downriver for anything. This is the one on Racho, with a BJ's right next door. The staff is friendly and helpful, and you can find nearly anything you need. Many things are pricier than what you might find at Lowe's or Home Depot (there is a HD across Eureka on Penn), but otherwise, good quality items. If you are so inclined, grab a rebate form from the Customer Service desk on your way out if you just bought a pricey item (appliance, home improvement item, tools, etc), it will be useful in the long run read more

I don't know why, but I just love Menard's. I think it's the rebate and at the store here in Taylor MI, the staff is so doggone friendly which makes the visit even better. I went in today February 1st at 1245 trying to do a phone sale. You'd think that a place that sells home improvements would be more contractor friendly, like Lowe's and Hone Depot, but every time I've tried no one knows what's going on and when they do the policy changes every time. I ordered a washing machine that was apparently considered a "special order"... went back in store to purchase the larger model machine and was charged a $150 restocking fee when the washer hadn't even shipped yet!! BUYER BEWARE OF OUTRAGEOUS RESTOCKING FEES!! The manager allowed the loss of a $700+ dollar sale and Menards has lost customers for life over a restocking fee! I would literally give this zero stars if I could. I have NEVER been so livid with a store, let alone a chain store in my life! Went in with a friend for their grand opening week. Never been to a Menards before this... And because of my experience with this one... I probably never well. I'm trying to vamp up my backyard by putting in a little patio area to have bonfires in. And the first day I went a couple of the gentleman that were general store clerks helped me load my car with the bigger items which was nice but the bulk of it came down to the fact that I ordered retaining wall bricks to build up my fire pit. Went to pick up the bricks because I did not know that they delivered because nobody ever told me. I hurt my back in a car accident so I can't lift all the stuff by myself. My cousin came over to help me unload my car from the retaining wall bricks which was only about 30 of them so wasn't too bad then he mentioned why I didn't have them delivered. I told him I was not offered delivery nor did I know they delivered. But I said I would definitely look into it because I also ordered over 400 red paver bricks to go in between these concrete tile bricks that I have for a design pattern for the actual patio. Today... I call The Store to figure out what time roughly they were going to be dropping the bricks off. Which were supposed to be delivered tomorrow August 2nd. A delivery that I had already waited two weeks to receive. Long story short when I called to check on the time not only could they not find my delivery order because the girl and the manager at the time of my original call did not put my order in properly, they also had the audacity to try to say that they have been trying to reach out to me to complete the transaction because supposedly I was supposed to pay for the delivery before I actually got the delivery but their delivery is from a third-party subcontractor. I don't even care about the fact that I had to pay for the delivery that's not the problem at all! But how the heck am I supposed to pay for something that I had no I had to pay when I booked the delivery!! Especially if you don't tell me! To make things worse... The first manager from that department Jose basically made it sound to me like....well you screwed up because I don't have a delivery agreement for you and the truck is full. And that the next delivery couldn't be made to me till next week. I started yelling so bad at that point. After being basically told I was SOL...there was no calm anymore. He didn't want to help... He didn't give a damn! No understanding that his team members screwed up... All it was was "Well I know you didn't talk to me... Because if you would've talk to me you would've had a delivery agreement here". And that supposedly they had been trying to get a hold of me. That he didn't have all the attempt records and when they called etc but supposedly they did. It's funny though cause everyone there from clerk to Dept manager to assistant manager kept asking my phone number. And even the clerk couldn't find it in the very beginning with my phone number. Oh and not to mention they had my email on file to send me notification that the bricks had arrived in store but I never got an email of them "trying to reach out" either. I had even yelled that I have people coming over tomorrow and the day after whom I've already given some money to in order to come help me put these bricks down and that because of their mistake I was losing money. I'm already paying as much for the delivery as I did for the bricks now I have to come out of pocket even more because your people can't get it together! Needless to say I elevated that call to the store manager. This is the manager came on the line and honestly he felt the heat in my wrath as well because I was still livid! Kudos to him for actually calling me down enough to actually rectify the situation... Well rectify is probably a strong word. More like he made a couple phone calls to the subcontractor and had them come back out this Sunday the 5th instead of next week. Which is still ridiculous to me honestly! Because it's still gonna cost me if those people can't show up on Sunday to work since I had already given then half money to come tomorrow and the day after to get it done! I'm just so pissed. That place is sooo not worth it! I'd rather pay a little more money and deal with more quality places than this. read more

Been in this location four times and out of the 4 times visited; needed help. Out of the 4 times that help was needed; only once was the person helpful/knowledgeable. The place has been open long enough for the employees to have more knowledge of what products are carried; and the location of the products in the store. Entering this location a person has to know exactly what they want/need and locate it on their own. Because, it is a 1 in 4 chance that a customer will receive useful help. read more

Although many reviews reflect a poor image of the store and staff I can't allow this interfere with my personal store experience. I advise anyone with an issue to address it on the spot. If necessary contact a regional or corporate office while in store. I assure you doing so will solve the problem and help prevent them in the future. #TERRIBLE DAY TO BE DISABLED- I went to Menards in Taylor, Mi today looking for a large porch pot with flowers for Mother's Day. I have had a disability for 20 years that requires me to wear AFO's (leg braces) and use hand controls to drive. I parked in front of the garden section, but the doors were locked, as were the next set. Sigh. Finally got through, and discovered nothing like what I wanted, the closest was some $50 flower baskets. Attempted to leave, my entry way was closed. Approximately 5 or 6 cashiers lines are completely walled off. I believe they wanted me to walk another 100 feet or so to exit the main entrance. I'm parked at the garden center. The first cashier that's open has 1 customer in line. Me- Excuse me, I'm exiting. Cashier Jody- No you're not. This is not a through way. Me- I'm sorry. I'm disabled. Jody- This is not a through way. You can't exit here. Me- I wear leg braces, it is difficult for me to walk. Jody- STOP! Get out of my face! Me- I'm not in your face. I stopped where you stopped me. I'd like to speak to the Manager. Spent over two hours to pick up a special order. They charged use over two hundred dollars for a steel pallet and it was wood. Didn't give us our full order. After a run around we had to go inside and then back outside. I will never shop here again. Worst help, wasn't trained and didn't know what the y were doing. read more

This past two months are my first experience with Menards. Initially, it was okay with an order of a washer and dryer. However, I had to wait for 45 minutes in line as a person had a piece of flooring that had no price or skew on it. The cashiers called management who did not come and held up the line for 45 minutes-they should have had someone go look where it came from and find a similar item and take a picture of that price and code so the couple could pay and be out the door. So okay, that was inconvenient but my washer and dryer was delivered. Then, I went back and purchased a stove that had to be special ordered because I chose the color white. It did not arrive on the date it was supposed to get to the store and took two days short of a month to have it delivered and that was only because I called and complained. It arrived broken and I refused it. Now they want to order a replacement handle that will take another three weeks...on my way to talk to management at the store. There is no communication regarding delays, the discount by mail in rebate is a pain in the tush and is a mechanism to avoid giving a discount. Not impressed. read more

Ordered a cheap vanity top online to be shipped to store for pick up. Was in store next day and noticed the color of smaller vanity top that I ordered was way off from what it looks like online. Asked customer service person how to cancel it and she said it had to be done online. I went home and canceled it online. Never got a response. Tried everyday for 2 weeks to email anybody on the site. No phone numbers anywhere to call a real person. Low and behold the counter arrives at store and now they are charging me a 25% restocking fee! The manager said he would need proof of the emails. You can't get proof from clicking a contact us form from a website. No where does it show a 25% restocking fee or I never would have ordered it. I did all I could to be a good customer and all they did was slap me in the face. I just went and ordered the same cheap top at Lowes and the guy there laughed and said if you don't like the color when it comes you don't buy it, that simple.
