This is a brand new store. Curiously located right next to a TJ Maxx (they're practically the same…read morestore) in a busy strip mall. Now, it was certainly my own mistake for visiting on the Sunday two weeks before Christmas, but this place was an unorganized madhouse! There were probably way more people in the store than a fire marshal would allow. Products all over the floor, strewn about. And again, this is a brand new store... why design the store with seven checkout lanes if you're only going to have four open on one of the busiest shopping days? Gripes aside, it's a decent store with a slightly different selection than your average TJ Maxx and Marshall's. As we got away from the clothing/shoes/accessories, we found the home goods section to be in much better order. We picked up a few nice picture frames for less than $10 each, so I'd call that a win. They also had a great selection of auto accessories, surprisingly. The wait in line was about a half hour... very ridiculous. Anyway, they need more cashiers on duty to handle demand and also dedicated staff to keep stock off the floor.

They do carry a lot of cheap, trendy clothing. There is not a wide variety of sizes for women. The designer handbag selection has never been great. They do occasionally have a great shoe selection. It is really hit or miss. The store is usually clean & organized. The prices are usually good if you can find a treasure. However, the next door neighbor, TJ Maxx, usually has a better selection. The Ross stores I have been to in the north are very different than the ones in the south. This isn't it. The buyers for this store are cheating you out of a great Ross experience.

Recently, though, there has been a huge influx of very weird AI generated images that are being sold as artwork. As a painter, this is really disappointing that a place that encourages creativity has stopped working with artist to sell their artwork in mass production. I really don't know who wants an AI portrait of a cow laying on a couch like she's being painted like one of Jack's French girls. But, that's ok-Trenton is a cute little town so we enjoyed the unintentional exploring. We expected the store footprint to be a little larger, but there were still plenty of things to look at and choose from. Metalwork dominates. There was a flock of hot pink metal flamingos, huge multi-colored roosters and bright red cardinals on wire hangers and metal stakes. There were enormous sunflowers, wind chimes and rock sculptures. And lots more. The back room had some vintage items including a couple of ladders that would be great for hanging quilts. According to the very nice gentleman behind the counter, they are usually open spring - Christmas and the stock changes as they sell out and replace with new merchandise. Around the holidays it becomes a big gift shop. If you are in the area, it is worth a stop. My advice would be to pair it with lunch and a visit to some of the shops along W. Jefferson downtown and make a day of it. You won't get dirty at The Dirty Hoe, but neither will you have to work hard to have a good time. Overalls not required.

The bright blue 1950's truck painted on the front windows and the vintage exterior lights and brick facade give you ample warning that you are onto something special even before you step in the door. It's easy to see why this cute, well-stocked shop was voted best new business of 2021. Inside, there's stuff for kids, for grandma, grandpa, mom and dad, gardeners, wanna-be gardeners, folks who love the lake, who love things that smell good and who love red white and blue.
