Now, it was certainly my own mistake for visiting on the Sunday two weeks before Christmas, but this place was an unorganized madhouse! There were probably way more people in the store than a fire marshal would allow. Products all over the floor, strewn about. And again, this is a brand new store... why design the store with seven checkout lanes if you're only going to have four open on one of the busiest shopping days? Gripes aside, it's a decent store with a slightly different selection than your average TJ Maxx and Marshall's. As we got away from the clothing/shoes/accessories, we found the home goods section to be in much better order. We picked up a few nice picture frames for less than $10 each, so I'd call that a win. They also had a great selection of auto accessories, surprisingly. The wait in line was about a half hour... very ridiculous. Anyway, they need more cashiers on duty to handle demand and also dedicated staff to keep stock off the floor.

They do carry a lot of cheap, trendy clothing. There is not a wide variety of sizes for women. The designer handbag selection has never been great. They do occasionally have a great shoe selection. It is really hit or miss. The store is usually clean & organized. The prices are usually good if you can find a treasure. However, the next door neighbor, TJ Maxx, usually has a better selection. The Ross stores I have been to in the north are very different than the ones in the south. This isn't it. The buyers for this store are cheating you out of a great Ross experience.

But, that's ok-Trenton is a cute little town so we enjoyed the unintentional exploring. We expected the store footprint to be a little larger, but there were still plenty of things to look at and choose from. Metalwork dominates. There was a flock of hot pink metal flamingos, huge multi-colored roosters and bright red cardinals on wire hangers and metal stakes. There were enormous sunflowers, wind chimes and rock sculptures. And lots more. The back room had some vintage items including a couple of ladders that would be great for hanging quilts. According to the very nice gentleman behind the counter, they are usually open spring - Christmas and the stock changes as they sell out and replace with new merchandise. Around the holidays it becomes a big gift shop. If you are in the area, it is worth a stop. My advice would be to pair it with lunch and a visit to some of the shops along W. Jefferson downtown and make a day of it. You won't get dirty at The Dirty Hoe, but neither will you have to work hard to have a good time. Overalls not required.

Corporate customer care can't do anything I need to speak to the regional manager. The regional manager, surprise surprise, can't be reached. What a trash company... I needed a repair person for a slide-in gas range. The oven quit lighting and some of the burners…read morehave not ignited for quite some time. I called a used appliance seller and they recommended Central Appliance for the in-home repair. Neil was at the house the same day and could have fixed the oven while he was there. I asked him to wait until he knew the cost of parts/repair for the burners so I could decide to repair or replace the range. He got back with me on the cost the same afternoon and I had him order the parts. He returned to fix the oven and will come again when the burner parts are in. I thought it was awfully kind for him to make the two trips to at least get the oven going again. I am very pleased with my experience with Central Appliance and am glad to have gotten the referral.
