Well, I always seem to keep coming back so it's gotta be a pretty good place right? I find that the customer service desk is always ridiculously helpful. Since I always try projects or end up getting the wrong thing, I frequent that desk a lot. They're super helpful and always upbeat. Side note: they have propane exchange but not the refill. Other locations have it which is awesome! I give this a 4/5 only because I sometimes struggle to find stuff and when I find an employee, it feels like I'm inconveniencing them. If I could give 0 stars I would. I put in an online order and when I went to pick it up the item was not there. I was sent on a chase FOUR TIMES throughout the yard to find my item and was told FOUR different times where to find it and they finally told me it was out of stock. HOWEVER, THEY FAILED TO MARK IT AS MISSING AND MARKED IT AS PICKED UP. Online assistance refused to do anything and tried to send me back to the store. They sent me back to online customer service. It's an online order and has to be fixed online. Worst customer experience ever. Wouldn't recommend ordering online because the item might be gone and you'll never get your money back. read more

Love this Menards!! They have everything! It's close to my house and the employees are always willing to help. I come here for all my home or work needs. Generally have had a good experience with Menards. However, I purchased a RedStone electric infrared fireplace which was only available online. The timer function and fan did not work as described in the manual so I exchanged it for another one. The next one had the exact same problems. I thought I'd exchange it one more time. This time it had the same problems but also excessive noise vibration. The manual suggested checking the screws on the product to make sure that they are tightened. A number of the screws could not be tightened because they were stripped. I returned it again asking if they have seen a lot of these returned. The answer was no so I thought one more time. Sure enough the fourth one had the same fan problem minus the noise. Did Menards get these knowing that they all had a product defect which allowed them to sell at a significantly lower price or am I just that unlucky? read more

Hello Oakdale Menards to whom it may concern you have the most extremely rude and unprofessional staff I have ever come across I'm a contractor and spend $6000.00 to $7000.00 a month there I will no longer spend my hard earned money there ever again I've been there numerous times but this last Sunday was the final straw the guy at the lumber yard gate was a complete jack ass god for bid he has to get off his stool and talk to people the amount of attitude I got and the rudeness from this guy I was very disappointed I have never been treated in this manner if your employees hate there job this bad and give your business a bad name then maybe they need to go. hello to management wake up and train your employees to not be so rude I've encountered so many rude employees there is no excuse for it there attitudes stem from the top being management. read more

I was at this location at 4:00pm to return a couple dryer vent items I bought an hour prior that I ended up not needing. Cashier: Meghyn I had paid most of the items In cash and then paid around $5 on my card. Meghyn stated that I would get $18.98 back in cash and $4.78 back on my card. I asked her before completing the transaction if the money would go back on my card right away as we are going into a lockdown and there are some things that I need to purchase before the lockdown. She said yes, it will go back on your card right now. I said okay and she completed the return. As she was handing me my money and reciept I asked "so the money is back on my card right now?" And her response was "well, no it can take a day or two. " she was also pretty rude about it, too. she had this extremely sarcastic and short tone when talking to me. Not to mention I was the only one in line returning things. The whole reason I said yes to putting the money back on my card was because I have to purchase things before this lockdown starts TODAY. And she reassured me saying yes it would go back on my card immediately. Then once the transaction is completed she tells me no it can take a day or two? That's really messed up and unprofessional. She not only lied to me in the beginning but this is also the last of my money as I am broke and unable to work because of this covid issues. Now I am not able to get my items because I don't have that money. I also didn't return all of the items that I originally purchased. I don't understand why I couldn't of gotten all of my money from this return back in cash as I stated before, I didn't return all of the items therefore those items that weren't returned would of been covered by the card transaction as it was over $4.78.  Not very impressed with the customer service at this location. read more

This is my second awful experience in the last couple of weeks or I wouldn't say anything. The first was curbside service and I spoke to a rude manager who was lackadaisical. First complaint, ever. I actually apologized for complaining but told him I thought someone should be aware of what was going on out back. This time had to get (unexpectedly) construction cement for project to continue, it was near close, grabbed it, was literally starting to reach for zep cleaner on way to checkout. An employee came around the corner. I thought she would stop and wait (social distance) but she didn't so I went several feet back down the aisle behind me (am high risk) & waited for her to pass. She didn't. She said you need to leave. I told her I just need to grab the zep, she told me no, you need to get to checkout right now, and as I stepped out of the aisle she was literally pushing the cart at me herding me as she was chanting go go go you need to get to the checkout right now. You need to leave. I literally had to scurry (am disabled so that sucked) to avoid being hit. She used social distancing like a weapon. She veered off before checkout. I looked for a coke in one refrigerator and then another and then went back to the first finally grabbed a Pepsi. The checkout person waited for the couple in front of me who had already checked out who sat there looking and discussing their purchases for a minute or two b/4 they finally moved away. By then it WAS 9:00, but there would have been ample time to grab the zep. No shields or guard up, customers have to pass right by the checkout person, but I went around another aisle and came around and said lightly, "It's not you, it's me." She didn't say thanks or acknowledge me in any way and handed me my receipt...why it didn't spit out the machine or why she didn't just reach forward and set it down and then back off so I could pick it up I don't know. The credit card machine was filthy looking, the keys had been covered with plastic but it was torn up. I know everyone is fed up with all the rules, some are resentful for having to work, others resentful for not being able to, and everyone wonders why even bother with all the protesting or riots and others don't care because they are young and healthy, but some of us legitimately have to be careful and that should be respected. I'm fed up with this Menards and I've been a loyal customer for 27 years. If I could give no stars I would. If I could give negative stars I would. read more

We were not made aware of an item being part of the bargain area prior to purchase. The signage and communication regarding the return policy of these items is unacceptable. This was not communicated prior to purchase and the only indication is on the receipt. At the point of receipt, it's already too late because the purchase has been made. As a result of the poor signage and lack of communication, we have doors that we are not able to return. The return department said "someone should have notified you at purchase." This did not occur but regardless, the "he said she said" scenario can be alleviated with proper signage. We do a lot of work with Menards but I will be shifting my business elsewhere and advising my friends, family and colleagues to do the same. read more

We purchased a refrigerator from Menards Oakdale, MN. We had it delivered. That was a huge mistake. The one man delivery crew did considerable to the refrigerator and our home. Menards and related insurance carriers are denying all responsibility in this matter based solely the delivery man's denial. We even had a third party, who has done work inside our home, offer comment. The delivery man was completely lacking in intelligence and experience. We love shopping at this Menards. As other reviewers have said, in the evening, it can be kinda hard to find an employee, but when you do they are very helpful. I like the layout of the store. But, my favorite thing is the grocery items with Cereal averaging $1 cheaper than the grocery store, pop tarts .80 cheaper, and milk less than $2/gallon. And, they have a nice variety of fruit snacks. Overall, a great place to shop if you have a large family due to the deals on food. read more

Being a new homeowner, we have mastered plenty of diy projects within the year. This past weekend was awful. After going to menards 4 times for supplies and getting flustered with everything not working in my favor- when I go to exchange a broken piece that was sold to me, but not discovered until mid project- the customer service was AWFUL!! I get everyone has bad days. But when I get attitude from the front of house and feel disrespected for trying to exchange something without a receipt... Then I got eyes rolled at me because the manager said just that. Without the receipt it is ok for an exchange or in store credit. I feel like front of house should be chipper people willing to be the customers advocate. Not some snotty gal who clearly hates her job. Lost a loyal customer! ***customer service is key*** Side note- their paint/ceiling tiles department has AWESOME customer service. I love that this Menards has a Cabelas-ish feel to the front, with the fake log poles and river rock facade, it cracks me up! Inside though, its a big Menards in a newer building. My experience with this store over the past few years has been that it can sometimes be difficult to find anyone who works there, esp in the evening, but that when you do corral someone they are friendly and pretty helpful. read more

I went to Menards with my husband and two kids, when we were walking to the door I decided to go back and grab masks for all of us, just because it's recommended. Then we were told very rudely might I add by the cart guy that NO kids were allowed in the store. I said "Fine, we will take our business somewhere else." Even with a mask on all 4 of us! I will never go back to Menards. Very poor on their part. I guess Home Depot is where we will be shopping at from now on since kids are welcomed there. Ridiculous. Exceptionally poor resolution to customer complaints, and no follow up by management staff of promised returned calls. We purchased a Maytag washer and dryer from the Oakdale Menard's last month. The washer was in stock, and we brought it home that day. The gas dryer was not in stock, and needed to special ordered. The estimated delivery date was July 4. On June 28th we received an email stating that our dryer had been delivered to the store and that we should wait for a phone call when it was unloaded. We received no phone call over the next day, so we called and were told that it was indeed in the store and we could pick it up. When we arrived at the store, and after 45 minutes, the sales associate informed us that he couldn't find it and speculated that the truck had not been unloaded yet. He informed us that they would call when it was unloaded. Two days later, we called again to see if had been unloaded, and we were told by a different person that the dryer was not there and speculated that the associate in charge of checking in the delivery had made a mistake, and hadn't physically looked to make sure that everything that was supposed to be there was there. He apologized and promised to look into the delivery date and call us. Two more days passed and we again called, this time to be informed by a manager that the dryer had come in damaged and had needed to be returned. He said that he did not know where the dryer was in the return process, but that he would look into it and call us back. He also never called back. Two days later, we sent an email to Menard's on their corporate home page detailing the lack of response or information regarding our order, our frustration at the situation, and asking for clarification because we had received conflicting stories from every individual that we had talked to. We received a three sentence reply stating that they were sorry and they would look into the status of our order. We have not heard back from anyone yet. I generally do not have a negative thing to say about Menard's. We purchase most of our tools, home improvement, lawn and gardening supplies from the Oakdale store. I am beginning to question whether or not to continue frequenting this business when they cannot be bothered to return a single phone call. I would not have an issue if anyone of the associates or members of the management team had followed up with us at any point within the last couple of weeks. As it stands now, I will certainly not purchase any other appliances there, especially if they need to be special ordered. read more

be careful! the 11% off is misleading. we wanted to buy a circular saw and the price after the 11% mail in rebate would have been around 10% more than buying the same saw model at home depot at a regular price! i feel menards adjusts prices just for the 11% rebate week. Menards has been our go to for supplies for most of our many DIY projects although not normally this location. Since we were in the area for other shopping, we stopped to inquire about an odd shower size that they stocked (12/26 evening around 8:00). Not a good experience with the not so helpful older guy who "kind of" waited on us. Item was stocked above, none on display and we wanted to see packaging or more detailed specs on it. Said we couldn't open it and so wasn't going to get one down, which we did not plan on doing, (although if a person purchased and returned after opening I believe it would be opened correct)? Started walking away as we were talking to him. I guess the night was almost over and he didn't need to be courteous or accommodating. He said it was a cheap model and wouldn't pass inspection if used to update a bathroom...hmmmm honest perhaps if not such a good sales pitch to talk us out of it, and then not offer to come up with a similar solution. The Oakdale location is just okay. After living in a few different areas and having frequented several other Menards locations this one has the worst customer service of any that I've shopped at. On the plus side it's probably the cleanest I've been to and their return process is very smooth. But good luck getting anyone to help and if you do none of the employees I've talked to have been very knowledgeable. This was clearly demonstrated in a garage door incident I had. My old garage door broke so I measured the existing door and went in to the store. I spoke with the Asst. Mgr. in the Millwork dept. who told me he needed to have more measurements before recommending a new door. He handed me a booklet and sent me on my way. I went home and measured the opening from the oustide of the door as instructed, as well as the whole area inside of the door where it had to fit, and still had the existing door measurements. I went back in and talked with the same employee who told me the stock 7x8 door would work. Not trusting this I waited and went back again a third time a few days later, but the same employee was there. This time I drilled him about the door suspecting it wasn't the right size but he assured me the stock door would work. I was hesitant because the existing door was 78" high not 84" but I bought it anyways. The day I installed it I found out it was 6" too high and I had to return the door after a day of installation. I went to the Maplewood store with the same information just to see what they recommended which was a special order 78" door which fit perfectly. Like I said the store is clean and well organized but the employees don't seem to care much to help people or have much knowledge of the products. read more
