I dont often do Menards as The other options offer Veterans discounts and allow dogs in store. However sometimes they have something I want so I go. recent went to purchase a kindling splitter. on sale fo around 16$. Granted box was largish and heavy. Cashier scanned the barcode printed on the box, looked at screen and then item. Cleared scan and rescanned, screen item description was for splitter, the price was as listed but she decided it was wrong. She made comments about the cost not seeming correct and inferred that I was somehow stealing it. When I requested a manager and none showed she finally let me go. If you haven't gone into a menards before I would highly recommend it just for the experience. It's a store that's kind of like a cross between a home depot and a Walmart... Here you can get your tools and your toothpaste along with your plants and your paint. You can get snacks and seeds and you can get clothes and storage solutions. Pretty good value. Decent service. I was recently shopping here as I do often. And had some items in my cart that were under some bags of wood pellets that I forgot were there. The cashier did not check my cart and only scanned the pellets. Upon leaving the store I get rushed by security accusing me of shoplifting. Why would I have something in my cart if I intended to steal it? This was at the fault of the cashier not me. Menards is my usual go to store for anything I need to do for remodeling/fixing up things. The service is always great and they honor their returns. They constantly have 11% on pretty much everything and you get store credit. I always feel like Menards feels more like a "local" store compared to Lowe's and Home Depot. I am not sure why that is; it could just be that I always came here with my dad growing up lol Prices always seems to be lower here as well. read more

If I could leave lower than a one I would. An old lady that works there tried to accuse my brother, my girlfriend and I of stealing spray paint that we had obviously brought in and were empty. If it wasn't for a manager we would have had to wait for her to check the cameras. They didn't have the stuff we needed just tried to leave. Funny part is that I worked there before with the lady. I walked here after a trip to the mall that's like two blocks away. I walked in bought some sunscreen then had some time to kill while waiting for my ride. My friend and I thought we would walk around and browse while waiting. We were followed through the store by a sales rep and there were others on each aisle end cap. when we our ride arrived we were in the garden section and the doors were all locked. we had to walk back acrossed the store to leave, there was no clear path to the exit, and we had to squeeze through a checkout lane to get out. Then when we got to the door they asked for my receipt and rummaged through my bags I got at the mall, delaying my ride. I will not be shopping here again. read more

I am a local contractor and shop pretty exclusively at Menards in Mishawaka and South Bend Indiana. On several different occasions over the last 3 to 4 years I have had reasons to go to customer service for varying reasons. Server times I was "helped" by Angie. I will preface my following comments by saying at the conclusion of my dealings with Angie the matters were resolved. My issue is with how completely disrespectful and plane rude that Angie is on every occasion that I have had to deal with her in customer service. Angie acts like she is a queen!! Who knows maybe she is?! Every time she acts like I am being a interruption and inconvenience to her. The last time she just walked away and said nothing to be as to what to do next. After waiting a few minutes I asked the cashier at the return desk if she could help me which she did happily. I know the manager of the Mishawaka store and he is a jurk to put it nicely also so in the end maybe I just need to shut up and take my business elsewhere. Just for the record I switched to menards last year when I discovered that Lowe's and Home Depot support an anti police organization that I do not want any of my money going to support. I frequent Menards often and the staff inside is usually helpful and friendly. But I am incredibly disappointed in the outside lumber department. I have never encountered such rudeness before. After having at least 5 employees watch me struggling and not offering to help, I had to go get someone to help me. First thing he did was literally rolled his eyes at me. He then proceeded to throw the boards into my truck and storm away. Very disappointed in this Menards. read more

We have used Menards Mishawaka for the past 4 years and found them to be generally very good for some custom orders for our home remodeling, specifically the door-windows folks there. As with any business, some employees need lots of training and coaching to make them good. Unfortunately, modern retail management often fails to do the proper training and supervision, and I suppose with regular turnover, it's hard to get proper customer care. In our case the guys in doors/windows did a very good job of our custom order and we are very happy with the product and results. I believe that Menards practice is to use independent local contractors for installs, so that can be unpredictable. In our case with the doors and windows, we chose our own installer. read more

Megan rocks! I had just come from a very frustrating visit to another local home improvement store looking for an outdoor fire pit. Megan walked me to the fire pits, (as opposed to pointing in the general direction, like the other store) and even showed me the stock that was put away for the season. First time ever in a Menards and I was blown away. It's like an adult playground and has everything you need to adult. The staff were very friendly. We were taken directly to a product we needed instead of being given directions. The products are comparable if not cheaper than its competitors I.e. 4 light bulbs for $3.49 vs $12.99 elsewhere ! This posting to to get your attention about the Menard's store in South Bend on Ireland . I don't like to be jerk around and embarrass when I'm shopping Here what happen I run a small nursery and this has been a business time of year for me and Menard's is just a half a mile from me . Well here my problem I needed more potting soil and lawn care soil they mix well . I got 7 bags of vegetable and flower soil at $6.99 a bag and 7 bags of lawn care soil at $1.28 a bag - now mind you I have spend at least a couple thousand dollars at this store just this year I'm a regular here at this store. The cashier started to ring up and the price on the lawn care soil ring up as $5.99 and I said no that is wrong the price is $1.28 a bag. One of the clerks said I was wrong so we go all the way throw the store into there back of the building where they keep there skids of soil at and I pointed out to the unshaven clerk where I got it he confirm that the name on the bags of soil were the same and it was $1.28 a bag. Than he said it still $5.99 because it has the wrong sku number . Then he get on his radio for the next 10 minute asking what to do That when they offer me $2.00 off of each of the bags . This is the third time they price items wrong and I take the items up to be purchase just to be embarrass and nobody cares .You try pushing a couple hundred pounds of soil throw that store and moving it around customers and back to the back of the store a second time. I didn't hear one word about how they were sorry for there mistake or waste of my time. Menard's you have wasted my time, You have employee who don't do there jobs right and your managers didn't even had the descents to fix this problem right or apologize to me.I should have gotten those bags of soil at $1.28 a bag and if it was price wrong your company should have eaten the lost and if it happen enough time you would firer the employee that are not doing there jobs.You lost business with me today I had over $200.00 worth of items I needed to buy today. I have residential properties in 2 states, owned 9 rental properties, and spent $10k at Menards in 2017 alone, but they've lost my business. They purposely prevent customers from rating products and services. I hired a Menards carpet and floor installer who damaged over 100ft of base moulding while installing carpet. As for the hardwood floor install, the manufacturer would not warrant $2k in hardwood floor IF installed by this man, so I fired him. I tried to work with management to spare others the same issue, but got run around. In the meantime, custom ordered oak doors used so little wood, there is no support for locksets. I had to add my own braces just to install locks properly. Going back to interviewing my own subcontractors and purchasing material from anywhere else. read more

I would have given this negative stars if possible. I ordered $2500 from menards. com. $1715.96 in products, $646.73 in shipping/handling, and $165.40 in tax. I did the math and this is 38% for shipping and handling. Something I should have checked in advance, but didn't. Having paid SO much for shipping, you would think they would actually place the items inside my house. NOOOOO! They onlywadropped it off on the street. Apparently this is their policy. There also isn't a 1-800 number to call about online orders. The only think you can do to contact customer service is email them. Not helpful. I will NEVER EVER EVER shop at menards.com again.
