This is one of the worst department stores i've been in in a long time. Never mind that it's easily the worst JCPenneys. I've ever been in this one pretty much takes the cake for all department stores out there. If all JC Penney sent the clothes that they couldn't sell to 2 or 3 JCPenneys, and then those sent the clothes they couldn't sell to this JCPenneys that might be close to what we're looking at.... I mean...it's Bad. Really bad. They did have some sales racks from 30-80% off, but unless you are xxs or XXXL don't bother. And the bathroom was downright freaky gross. 3rd world almost.... Only 2 checkout counters. Not good. Hard sale, this one. read more

I got some Jcpenney gift cards for Christmas so we came the the University Park Mall location to use the gift cards. This location has 2 levels yet they seemed to not have a lot of stuff. I was disappointed because usually I can find carts full of stuff I want but I only used $13 of my $40 on a single yellow sweater. I find they just don't have a lot of variety of plus sized items at the reasonable price I've come expect at this store. I was really hoping to find some good pants but I just couldn't any that fit right or were my style. Hopefully I can stop by a different location to spend to rest of my cash because this JC just didn't suffice. read more

I've shopped at University Park JC Pennys recently. it's easy to get in and out if you use north parking lot door. The store needs a refresh, carpets very dirty, paint drab and outdated. Outside of building very dirty and it's brick, needs power wash. each department looked different, one perfect, some very messy guess it depends on the dept managers pride. I know they are understaffed and thats why they open an hour later than the entire mall, but we need a good place to purchase their quality products, it's too bad it's going down hill. I hope they do not close the store, this area needs a good store like JCP. read more

I was checking out, and the lady at the register asked if I had a rewards number. I told her I wasn't sure, so after giving her my number it showed I had no rewards. So she asked if I wanted to sign up for rewards, I said yes. After a series of questions on the screen I realized it was asking me some personal questions that would be related to signing up for a store credit card. I asked if she was signing me up for a credit card and not rewards, she said yes. I told her I did not want a credit card, and her response was "no it's okay, just finish signing up and we can put this purchase on the credit card". I then told her again I'm not doing that and I didn't ask for a credit card. Just felt shady the she was trying to make me sign up for a credit card, and then when I told her I didn't want one, she just told me to do it anyways. read more

A pleasure to do business with a store that says what it will do then stands behind it while doing it cheerfully and quickly. Actually we were returning clothing items that did not fit the Mother-in-law. No problem at all. Late Sunday afternoon seems to be a good time for such transactions. No crowds and the transaction was done expeditiously. read more

This is for the JCPenney Home Store, which is inconveniently located in an entirely different building from the JCPenney store in the mall. The sense of foreboding you get pulling into their poorly cared for parking lot should serve as a warning. RUN. AWAY. It's stocked decently, but the sales people have no interest in helping you and will visibly be distressed if you indicate you'd like assistance. And heaven forbid you might want to set up a registry. It simply doesn't work. read more

This review is for the JCPenney Salon. I went in for a trim and a shampoo. Had to wait a couple of minutes to be greeted (they had just opened), but my stylist came out shortly after and was super friendly. She asked what I wanted and did exactly what I asked. I'm in the process of growing my hair out, so I really didn't want a lot cut off. I'm so happy that my hair looks so much healthier but still long. The shampoo she used (Purology?) smelled so good and the mousse was great too. I've been to a couple of other salons in South Bend/MIshawaka, and this is the only one that did exactly what I asked and had reasonable prices. Definitely recommend. read more

Unfortunately my friend and colleague visiting from Kenya was treated very shamefully by an employee here yesterday. When my friend went to pay using a major credit card, the clerk rudely told her that a passport was required (despite my friend having an official national ID that matched her credit card). When my friend said she did not have her passport, the clerk told her she could be arrested! This is untrue, ignorant and frankly came off as quite racist and xenophobic. This was a terribly offensive and painful experience for my friend, a University faculty member. JC Penny- you need to update all training on how you treat international visitors, who are customers. JC penny, I am no longer a customer and hope you offer an apology. read more

I remember when the only JC Pennys store in town was downtown! So was the Sears store, well a few blocks away on Western. Always have pleasant times at JC Pennys. Like, Sears, it is a bit pricier than some places, but it is traditional. Bought some socks there today. It is cheaper than Macy,s, I'll tell ya that much! read more

The lousiest service at the eye care dept. Had to return glasses took 4 trips and a couple phone calls to be able to wash my hands of them. One stop and less money at eyemart express to get glasses that are perfectly suited to me and I can finally read again without words going up or down hill or splitting in two. And the customer service at eye mart was fabulous. Must also say that the eye doctor at Penney's was not to blame. She was thorough and professional, too bad the team there was just the opposite. read more

I have bought designer drapes and blinds from Home Store and I would give this 5 stars for service, accuracy, and professionalism. I assumed the same would be true for their ready-mades. NEVER BUY THE READY MADES, unless you are a seamstress, handyman, or clairvoyant about this merchandise. JCP sent me the wrong color drapes, I had to order new colors and rods. I must have called the store 15 times with no answer or response. Then I was told that I had additional curtain hooks with a new order. The installer came and did en excellent job, but told me that I had to install cup hooks on both sides of the doors if I wanted to go in and out to our atrium. He never removed and disposed of the old knotty pine valence and then announuced there was a $50.00 installation fee. I have great difficulty walking. I said could he take all the paperwork and the big rods back to the store? He said it was after 3: p.m. and he was going home. I needed to do the returns by myself. My Health-aide and I took them back. Your management needs to be aware of these problems and you have lost a loyal customer. Beverly Arnold read more
