This is, hands down, my favorite Menard's store! Have been going there periodically since they opened and I lived in nearby LaGrange at the time. Now I'm a little further out but still make the drive there and it's not far from my work, gives me an excuse to go back to my old stomping grounds. They have everything and the store is so well laid out, I can usually find things easily, and honestly the "conveyer" escalator for shopping carts blew my mind years ago when it opened! Love their selections and their prices. Will always check there before anywhere else! Best selection of lighting, bath/kitchen features, appliances & patio/outdoor furniture. I could spend hours at this Menard's just browsing and making lists and mental notes of design ideas. read more

I have shopped here several times. Be sure to know your price points before you go in and do NOT assume the sign that is over the item is the actual price. A couple of times I have gotten to the register with an item only to here, "Oh that was the wrong price on that item". They do NOT stand behind their own errors. Also be careful when using a "redeem" coupon, given when you purchase items that have a mail in refund. There are "strings" attached to using the coupon. Overall, this is a decent big box store, but be careful. read more

My favorite Menards store! Went to Bridgeview Menards looking for a certain brand of dog food. Unfortunately this Menards ran out. I called Hodgkins Menard and they had 3 bags left. I called to put one aside. Ignacio V from the paint dept put one on the side for me after being transferred to him by Miss Destiny. BIG shout out to Ignacio! I purchased paint for a project in my house. I came back for a second gallon. Gave them the exact info. They mixed up a gallon of ceiling paint and not flat paint as I purchased before. Two people at the paint desk told me it was the exact same paint and finish. 1 day after my painters finish it is visibly noticeable 2 different kinds of paint were used. Menards is not taking responsibility for their mistake. Now I am responsible for covering the cost of my painter coming back to finish the job. I love me some Menards! They have everything you could possibly need or want, and have been my faithful companion during both my bathroom and kitchen renovations. Although, this is the reason they are not 5 stars. I shall say that there was some incorrect cutting of countertops leading to my installer having to take extra time and money, to correct. In addition, there was some bad juju coming from certain staff when I would follow up on anything. However, I digress as this review is based on Menards in its entirety and not a couple of isolated incidents. When I go to Menards I feel like staff actually want to help. I don't feel as if they run away from patrons, like some other stores. My children enjoy their pathway to the second floor(what is it? It isn't an escalator, but more like a people mover going up...). I love their seasonal items and the ability to purchase paint, dog treats, a lawnmower, and a small tree all in the same location. This last visit was beneficial, as we came to purchase our Christmas tree early. The news about prices going up based on the recession 10 years ago which led to less trees being planted definitely scared me. We perused some odds and ends and ended up in the seasonal section, as per usual. On this beautiful day the outside trees didn't look normal, as they weren't their usual cold stiffness when we shop for trees. We had so many options of my favorite, the great Balsam Fir! Purchasing early may come back to haunt us when our tree is dry in two weeks, but it's absolutely perfect now and I have never shopped this early for a tree. $26.99 for a 6-7'. Update: Always a great experience to be had at Menards! Since I've been using crutches, I've had to use their mini motor vehicles to get around and shop. This last visit entailed a kind young man by the name of Kevin seeing me struggle with my crutches as I was getting out of my vehicle. He promptly stopped collecting carts and asked how he could help. He then proceeded to gather my torn screens and place them into one of his carts so that I could then maneuver into Menards with my crutches. He also went and grabbed the motorized vehicle for me! I really love Menard's . They have everything. From paint to garden supplies to bird seed to dog and cat food ~ this place REALLY has everything. The associates are very nice and helpful. The store is crazy clean (unlike another store which shall remain nameless - where I saw a mouse in the bird food isle). We will be redoing our house and I KNOW we will be even more frequent customers than we are now! I am doing a project in our family room and I needed some supplies, the associate showed me where everything was. I also want to compliment their greenhouse, the quality of their Green House plants is amazing. I bought some fingerling potatoes and HOLY MOLY - they grew and were great!!!! The store is a good place to find literally everything you need with regards to home improvement. I wanted to make some changes in my home because it kind of looks plain to me and I wanted to change as much as possible just to make it look better, and this is the first store I visited since a lot of people were recommending it. There is ample parking. The store is hefty. It is so big and spacious. There is so much stuff, but it is comfortable to move around; everything is well-organized and it just looks clean. The layout is nice too. Everything is accessible and there is also staff around that would help and assist you with everything. After roaming around, I already had an idea of what to get. The prices were also not that bad, so it was really nice. Even so, I also asked for the opinion of the staff because I just wanted to, and I am just glad that he is so nice, so friendly, and knowledgeable with the staff. Getting someone else's idea isn't such a bad thing, especially when you have experts like the staff. I like this store. Most importantly, I really like the products they have. First let me state that I'm a regular customer of Menards and was pleased with their products and service. But today I ran into an attack dog who was the paint manager behind the counter with 4 others watching. She took great pride in her complete lack of service this morning. I brought in a new gallon of marine paint and asked her to shake it for me. She refused because it wasn't purchased there, plus it might explode and destroy the entire machine. This is what a great hardware store looks like. Just today I needed to return a leaking kitchen faucet that was replaced back in October 2014, this is out of the warranty period. They gave us a store credit to replace the bad one, how much better can it get. There are many hardware stores to buy from, but when you get service like this, WHY SHOP? The bad faucet was a Tuscany kitchen model Brookville and I spoke with them regarding item, NO HELP!!! I would never buy a Tuscany brand faucet for anyone I know, just poorly made and leakage caused thousands of damage under sink and into basement. read more

I buy at this store often and it is very big and they always have what I need.... With that said, I'm a little disappointed in the staff after this week. I purchased 40 large patio paver blocks at 9pm. (The store closes at 10pm) I pull my truck into the row and began to load. A staff member on a forklift pull into the lane and sees me loading. He waits on the lift for a minute and then gets off and walk by me. Then walks back by me to the machine starring at me but doesn't say a word. I said hello and he ignores me. I move my truck forward to my next item in the row...he pulls next to my truck and asked if I could move forward so he can get through. I asked if he could give me a hand loading so I can get out of the way. He said no and simply drove away. Lol Its unbelievable. read more

So tonight I go to this Menard's to look at nails. I don't get 50 feet inside the door when I am accosted by this guy. He first asks me how I am doing? I grump the usual perfunctory response and try to keep on moving, shopping cart rolling. He then starts to say "When I first saw you walking in the door ..." I did not wait to hear the end of that really creepy come-on. He was one of TWO guys roaming the floor that night, accosting shoppers, trying to sell DirectTV subscriptions. Apparently I have Easy Mark written all over me. There is a DirectTV kiosk by the aisle and more often than not it is staffed with these pesky critters, interrupting and annoying shoppers who had no interest in this when going through all the effort to get to the store. Especially when they have nothing worth watching on TV anyway. Just let me look at nails in peace. So downgrade to two stars for the unnecessary annoyance and unwanted sales pitch. Nevermind all the nice things I had to say about them before - except for their corporate office which does not respond at all to multiple written complaints I have had in dealing with their other stores. BEWARE!!!!! At Menards, once you add gas into a lawnmower you cannot return it if it does not work. We must drive 22 miles from Brookfield to the menards Tinley Park service center or to Lemont to have the faulty lawnmower repaired. Menards will not replace the faulty lawnmower. Beware of the small print at the end of your receipt. Read it carefully before you buy from Menards. Now we have to rent a van to transport the lawnmower. My best advice is shop at Home Depot, as Home Depot will replace the defective lawnmower. read more

Hey save big $$ at Menard's commercial gets into my head and they are right I find the best deals at Menard's. I like their garden section as well as their huge home improvement area and it has a wonderful Christmas shopping display. I like to go there to find $1 deals on Kid's shampoo, and snacks. I love Menards and really try not to go anywhere else. We bought our house last July and have done lots of construction over the last year and half. I generally find everything I need here for less then I would find it anywhere else. I think my favorite thing about Menards is the pet section, we buy our dog beds, leases, collars, toys and other items from here for a fraction of the price. I bought our metal collar here for about $8, the same collar at Petco is $39. The website is a plus and a minus you can't search the products but you can print your rebate forms online. Overall I think this particular Menards is great being two floors with the outside section. It's always clean and stocked with friendly AND helpful people. read more

I purchased a fireplace entertainment center from there last week I asked the associate to help me and he did I asked him if it comes already assembled he said no so I said I can't purchase it I need it assembled which he was nice enough to say I would have my team assembled it for you which it was nice of him then I needed it delivered which they charge for that plus they charge for gas I said ok no problem I also said I'm on a condo and it's second floor they said no problem they called to confirm the sale I told them again I'm on the second floor the delivery people called the day before delivery day I told them again I'm on the second floor and they also asked me where exactly to put it. I said second floor and the first room on the left.they come the next day and they won't bring it upstairs because they said it's 50 dollars extra I said no one told me that he said we're only supposed to deliver it in the front of the main door downstairs if you want it upstairs it's extra $50 they even call the store and that's what they told me over the phone too. I said I explain to you I talk to three different people. I told them I'm upstairs second floor you could've told me it's extra for the second floor. so they charge you for the delivery they charge you for their gas but they don't tell you they have to charge you to bring it upstairs. Very unprofessional after I talk to so many people and they told me it's OK to put it upstairs and on top of that there's scratches all over and no one would call me back. I sent an email and they said they will call me back. I'm still waiting for that. I even took pictures and sent it to them of all the scratches and bumps. It's on this entertainment center that I paid so much money for I did not pay for a used piece of entertainment center. You know how the commercial says "you save big money"? That's a loaded statement. You save money on what you came there for, but then you USE that money you saved and buy all sorts of other stuff you never know you needed. Case in point - they sell Sprecher root beer!!! it's a favorite that is hard to find in typical grocery stores. I've come to this Menards to find things that I haven't been able to find at Target or Walmart. Also, it's less expensive than the walmart on the other side of the plaza in most cases- even the items you wouldn't think about like oil filters and laundry detergent. Sure, the theme song plays in the background most of the time, but the store is clean, the staff are helpful, and you've gotta love the moving walkway to the second floor and the piano that plays itself or with a person (one day someone was playing a pretty version of "Comfortably Numb" by Pink Floyd - I thought it was hilarious). I continue to make the trek out to Hodgkins in order to save money. If i can condense trips by heading to this awesome location, I'll do it! read more

Same day delivery was one of the worst ideas I've had in a long time. Drop and go delivery did not happen - I needed to verify each item and then help him search his car for my one missing item that I truly needed. Trying to get assistance on the phone was pretty much a trial. Associates should really put the customer on hold when discussing said customer with another associate - I'm sure i did sound that bi...uh, witchy. And now I have a remaining $10 processing fee for two bags of chips and some napkins. Same day delivery - not recommended, at all, ever again, me thinks not. read more

Why is Menards selling products by their vendors if the vendor can not supply. Why isn't Menards warning their customers of issues or better yet WHY are they using these vendors? Now we won't have a bathroom sink for at least another 20 days on a vanity top ordered 40 days ago by my contractor. I had asked the store for some compensation and was told it wasn't their fault. I'll admit, Menards is not my usual go to for tools. I tend to come here if I need cheap materials. I had not been to this location for the first few years it's been open. Word to the wise, spend your first few minutes planning out your "route" in the store. Otherwise you will find yourself going up and down the escalator and stairs several times. At first, I laughed at the pianist playing here... but then understood it helps while riding the escalator. It takes about 2 minutes to go from down to up. Staff here is always very friendly and courteous. This is possibly the cleanest Menards I've ever seen. read more

I feel like such a geek admitting this, but I like to go here to look at the groceries and other sales on the first floor! I only found out about this through coming here to buy lighting fixtures and new toilets, but they have a pretty decent selection of food items, accessories and Sprecher sodas too! They can have really cheap sales on items. I've bought cozy blankets for $5, cute headbands/hair ties for 50 cents a piece, salsa for less than $2. There are tons of hidden gems in this store! It's also a great store full of helpful workers for the clueless, like myself, and no-so-clueless to complete home projects. Great stock of so many items. One thing I don't think is up to par is the paint though- I feel like thats more of Home Depot's forté. But obviously, I'll be back for the rest of it! read more

i was very disappointed how much they are willing to not make a customer happy, the employees and the general manager they don't take responsibility for their mess ups this has happened multiple times and they think it's ok to blame the customer and have the customers pay for menards mistakes. very unhappy with the service as of lately, and they are very disrespectful. if i could give a worse rating to this menards i would. This review doesn't come after a visit to Menards. It comes after a visit to Home Depot. I have Always been a huge fan of Menards, but a friend recommended I go to Home Depot to look for an electric wall unit air conditioner. I went there. No one tried to help me even though I asked multiple times. No one seemed to have any knowledge about their sections, if they even had sections. I was sorely annoyed and disappointed. Hence this 5 star review for Menards. Everytime I go to Menards multiple people come up and ask me if I need assistance and then they Actually Assist me, not send me on a wild goose chase around the store. I will NEVER choose anywhere else over Menards again. I have paint people there that explain everything and all the other staff is beyond helpful. Keep appreciating your employees Menards. UPDATE :....well, heck. Menards went through a substantial rearrangement moving things around, and if anything it got worse ! Electrical pipe, window and door millwork, and other items I frequently want to walk in and grab a couple pieces at a moment's notice are still on the upper floor. If I want qne or two outside rated boards, I have to get a picking ticket and drive to the outside lumber yard, where there is hardly ever any assistance in loading. They blow the competition away with selection, but lose big on time to pick up for small orders. ORIGINAL REVIEW:......GREAT selection for the handy weekender.....very good quality lesser-name power tools (Tool-Shop and a couple others) at a price that is good enough for D-I-Y to use for a few projects, and not break the budget like Bosch or Milwaukee. Those two are fantastic names, but just overkill for DIY needs. Building Materials and Contractor Desk guys are open to questions, and the selection of materials (siding in particular) is quite amazing. Have built decks and screened porches with one-stop convenience. Most all the employees are generally competent in their areas, not overly aggressive, and quite helpful. I always am falling for the specials that are in the aisles - like a hammer for 4.99 and get a rebate for 4.99...!!! Layout is a problem, though. It is very strange to have the center of the store broken up by a double escalator, so that your shopping has to take many more steps than it should. Also, toilets/sinks , windows/doors , and electrical conduit are on the second floor ???? Not really good for " walk-in and pick-up" orders.
