I can't recommend order pickup. Arrive at 6a and folks aren't in place and ready for work. Come at 9am and there's no real order nor processing so newbies may be confused. Apathy is strong. I didn't know if they bring it to me or I come into have my barcode scanned. What I learned is there's an order dashboard with a time clock and see the picture. Drive all around to the yard pick up for any online orders. No matter how small. I like this but they could say it everywhere at the storefront. Anywhoo, plenty can't just be picked up in-store when ordering online. They'll have to deliver it. Egg swing chair for the patio has a $260 delivery charge while the chair is $140. C'mon. Now. I know they have to pay for the racing team and don't want to pay for delivery but $200+ for an address that is 3 miles from the store or an address that's in Charlotte shouldn't be the same. Shop with caution. Store personnel is always knowledgeable here. That's the win. Pick up is stressful as it led me to go from 3 stars to 2 stars. Gotta have ID. YEP, this ain't Target nor BestBuy. On December 17, 2025, I visited the Evergreen Park Menards to buy insulation for an exhaust fan and to ask about foam board. I asked two different male employees in two different areas of the store for help, and both gave me incorrect directions that sent me to the opposite end of the building, forcing me to walk the full length of the store multiple times for no reason. Each time I asked a female employee, I was given the correct aisle and real help immediately. One female associate even said she knew exactly which male employee I was talking about, which suggests this behavior is known internally. I escalated this to the General Manager, Juan Horton. He asked me to call him, gave me a number that did not work as a direct line, I notified him by email, and he never followed up. This wasn't just bad service. It was a repeated, directional pattern of obstruction that only happened with male employees, while women employees were competent and helpful. That is gender-based discriminatory treatment, on top of a complete management failure. This is a store culture problem, not a one-off mistake. read more

This place during my home remodel has gotten all of my money. I also keep forgetting about the 11% rebates which are only good for about 5 days. You need to mail them in ASAP. I have lost at least $400 in mail in rebates because of. excess paperwork. I've had sent specialized vanity for my bathroom because it was cracked upon bringing it home. Mind you that you have to wait 5 days for replacement so that held up my bathroom completion. Not much of a variety either. Unless you go online in store. I guess they have a limited amount of space and once they're out of something they are out just like they don't even restock it anymore. Limited assortments of colors and textures. Placed a recent order and reminded me why we stopped using Menard's. A rolling stop for a delivery with less than 60 second wait time? Completely unprofessional. Delivery location was provided on the 22nd so you should've had it well before the delivery date. What kind of company ignores a customer returning your call literally less than a minute after you departed and not only letting the call go to voicemail, but you returned the order?!? Could've had the decency to answer the call and turn around since you would have been barely down the street. I don't see any contracts lasting if this is how business is being done. If the delivery had happened, probably would've damaged the property by ramming the forklift into things anyway. Completely incompetent and unprofessional delivery. Every single time there's an issue. Now you expect us to pay the ridiculous delivery charge again to have it redelivered? Scam artists! Buyer beware. Do not do business here! I went to return garbage bags, the whole box of 40 was defective, every bag had a big gash in it like it got caught on the machine or the roller. Instead of being an even exchange and getting another box off the shelf, there were only 3 other boxes on the shelf and all 3 were torn open and raggedy! Took them to show at the return counter and clerk tells me instead of giving me even exchange credit she has to charge me the lowest price of the year which was $3.55 instead of $6.49 that I paid originally! WTH!! Why should I have to suffer a price difference because you all don't have sufficient stock to replace what I already paid for? I didn't knowingly buy a defective product and whoever is responsible for that department doesn't walk thru at least once a day to make sure products are replaced and or cleaned up properly!! So I had to pay$4.88 with tax for something that should have only been $1.50 more with tax had I been given a full credit refund for item I had already purchased! THIS SUCKS BIG TIME!!!!! read more

With predictions of more snow and very cold weather for the next week, my neighbor and I realized that we were both low on a winter necessity: salt for icy stairs and sidewalks. We both like shopping at Menards, so off we went to the Evergreen Park Menards on 2/4/21. .  We parked near the exit door and since the salt was usually located near the exit, we started to enter thru the exit door. The security guard told us we have to enter thru the enter door, so we walked down to the other end of the building Once inside--thru the "enter" door- - we walked down the first aisle that goes from the area of the entrance door to the area of the exit door, where various types of salt/ice melt were indeed located.  My neighbor picked out a few large bags of ice melt and I opted for a couple of smaller, easy-to-handle containers --I find that sometimes convenience is worth the extra cost.  We were able to check out pretty quickly.  As much as I usually like shopping in Menards, it is such a relief these days to just get what I need quickly, get out of the store, rip off the mask and breath freely again. read more

Yes, we do have a valid driver's license and proof of insurance. We have filed several inquiries and faxed a letter for someone to reach out to us...nothing. Also, be aware Menards does NOT have a live support customer support center. Rather, if t hr customer has a problem, they will have to email, mail, or fax them a letter. Poor customer service. Waited more than 1.5 hrs for sales associate to purchase a mattress. Lack of customer service and proper staffing for a Saturday. Only one person working in the department but was unavailable for assistance for more than an hour. Sent letter to Guest Services and no mention of reason for long wait, just basic excuses, no follow up or compensation. If management doesn't address these concerns, how can associates be held accountable. Will not settle for unacceptable excuses. Revenue and sales will eventually be impacted by poor service. This Menards is decent. It's clean and well stocked. But like any big box store like this, if you make the mistake of asking one of the teenage workers for help, don't be surprised to find out what they told you was completely wrong. I've had kids tell me they don't have stuff just to get rid of me. Good: enormous space with various selections Bad: lack of employees to offer any assistance. It's becoming more like Home Depot. I was warmly greeted by middle age female worker in the lighting area. She, at least, acknowledge my existence and said hello and walk on by. She did not ask if I needed any help. I wander to the blinds/window treatment area and spent few minutes looking at the blinds. And six feet away, two male employees were so engrossed in their gossips and story telling to one another that I was oblivious to them. Even when they notice me, they didn't come over to ask if I needed help and continued with their conversation; instead I felt like I was intruding their space. Next, I wander to cabinets and there were two employees helping another two customers. Even when I stood next to them, they didn't skip a beat to check if I need any help and/or to offer how long it'll be before they are free. I really want to buy cabinets that day but since no help was offered; no purchase. Last stop- doors section. Once again, can't find anyone to ask where I can find closet door knobs or get moulding assistance. So, I walk out of there with a $10 sale on kitchen fan filter and at least the cashier was extremely nice and greeted me and thank me and told me to have a wonderful day. So, Menards, maybe you do or maybe you don't care. If this is the service you provide I rather spend few minutes and go to Home Depot that is 5 mins from my condo and get the same poor customer experience. read more

Good: The kitchen and paint associates are very helpful and always available to assist you with any questions you have. They went out of their way to find cabinets that were not listed in stock for my reno. The store has everything you need to do any home project. The cash registers open when lines get long so there is never a long wait. All the cashiers are friendly, pleasant and get you on your way. Easy process to rent a truck for a quick drop off of merchandise. Bad: Order pickup area is S-L-O-W!!! If I just spent 1-2 hours in the store picking out items do I honestly want to wait another hour to get my merchandise? Need a better pickup order system. When I pay for my purchase it should be waiting for me when I get to order pickup. Very disorganized, people standing and walking around and nobody asks if you need help until you come to them. The hardware department needs to do better. Asked 3 associates if they worked in hardware and all 3 said no and I stood at hardware desk 20 mins and a 4th associate walked by and I asked if she worked there and again "No", so when I say I'll go to customer service to get a manager then lo and behold the hardware associate mysteriously appears. My advice to management: Train your associates to assist in multiple areas. I should NEVER have to walk past any associate and they can't assist me. Manager at order pickup was very apologetic of my long wait but got home and had the wrong merchandise. Needs better quality control checks. read more

Since I broke 2 bones and couldn't walk or bear weight, I ordered ONLINE from Menards 8 boards and paid an exorbitant amount for delivery. Only 3 out of 8 boards came. I have spent countless time and frustration trying to receive the 5 boards owed. I was shoved from one place to another, including, ironically, SpeeDee Delivery. They, of course, sent me back to Menards. I am about to make my 7th call. Each time I talk to a person they are in a department where the phone reception is horrible, which adds to the frustration. And each time, I learn that I will receive by email a confirmation of a new tracking and order number. No such email shows up in my email and thus I STILL DON'T HAVE MY BOARDS and no idea if I will ever receive them. UPDATE: I received the 5 boards due, yesterday, October 21. I ordered the boards on October 7, and the first 3 came on the 10th. There is a reason Amazon is so successful - they track your packages for you, and customer service is fantastic. Menards? A nightmare. If one of the people had said, without a bored voice, that he or she would help me and give me an idea of the progress, then great...I'm patient. Or if Menards had a decent tracking system, I could have stayed informed. I dread the fact that I have on order a stove and a freezer. Dread it. By the way, although the 5 boards are the correct size, they are not pre-finished as I ordered. The painter, who is painting the room the shelving goes into, said, "Give up. I'll paint them." My experience was HORRIBLE. Dennis from lumber/building material area was VERY RUDE. My had to place an order for his boss company witch is usually not a problem but Dennis made the experience very unpleasant . He scoffed and made facial expressions like we were bothering him. Long story short he simply was lazy to do it and just printed out a sheet of paper and said that we had to do it ourselves online that he couldn't do anything for us and when we kindly asked him to speck to the manager he said sorry he can't do anything. I was purchasing supplies for my garden today and came across a bundle of plant holders. They weren't marked with the price so I asked the cashier to do a price scan I expected her to say $15-20 but she said $4.50. Excited that they were on sale because it's the end of the gardening season. I told her I wanted them. To my surprise, she states it's only for one and the bundle was the negligence of the employees for not cutting them apart (they were ziptied in three different places). I asked for the manager because there was more than one bundle and usually stores will honor prices when it's their negligence. Well, Jonathan Whitelaw, the asst. GM offered to cut them apart. But was not willing to offer any discount on the store's fault. I could understand if it was only one set but when there are several bundles and no shelf pricing due to employee laziness, the customer should not be responsible for figuring this out. If you read my other reviews, you'd know I'm a stickler for customer service and this location makes me question if I will continue to patronize Menards. I read negative reviews about rude employees at Menards and couldn't pass up a chance to set the record straight. I am a steady customer of Menards and have been purchasing tools and other products almost monthly. During my visits to the Western ave store I have never encountered a rude salesperson, cashier, guard or employee who was rude. They will even walk you over to what you are looking for and help you with informative information for products for you too consider. I live within walking distance of a Home Depot but drive a few miles to Menards every time I need something. You couldn't ask for better service. Good prices and large assortment of materials and tools. I would recommend Menards to any DIY or handyman person, neighbors and friends. I'm awaiting a order now for my latest home project. I made the mistake of venturing outside of my house on Black Friday and ended up at Menards. I wasn't there for the deals. I was there for hardware. Ended up being able to avoid most of the crowds (not too many people buying copper pipes that day, haha) and best of all, found incredibly helpful employees that were actually in good spirits on what is quite possibly the most difficult day to work retail. The employees I talked to were cheerful, friendly, and helpful. They were also EVERYWHERE - this is probably because of Black Friday, but there was always someone around when I had a question! I usually come to Menards when I can't find a Home Depot. There are just more Home Depot locations in Chicago. I will say whenever I come to Menards, they usually have what I'm looking for. This visit was just to return a pump. There was no issue with my return and it was quite fast. I didn't have my receipt with me but it was very easy to find it. All I had to do is put the card I used in their receipt finder machine and scroll through each month until I found it. It was very simple to do. I went here looking for particular items, and the employee I saw inside was such a great help. Even though the store is well organized, I am not familiar with it, so I asked an employee where I could find the items I needed. I know I can look for it alone, but I just asked the employee just so I could find it easily and conveniently. I thought that the employee would just give me directions or I thought he would just point out the location of the products, but instead of that, he was really kind and helpful in walking me to where the products I needed were located. I really like the customer service. Their employees are such a big help, and I like how they treat customers just like I had experienced. I was able to get the stuff I needed and I was also able to look for other things I might need at home or something. The store is also clean too, and everything is really organized and well-stocked too. It's Menard's, however it's one of the locations on steroids, so be prepared to get sidetracked by things you don't need. For example upon walking in there was a large display of Campbell's Soup. I have to admit, soup was the furthest thing from my mind, when I needed to look at faucets. It's a nice clean and bright store, although not one employee said hello or asked if I needed assistance, which seems to be the big thing at Home Depot now. They had all the requisite hardware stuff and then some, there was the soup of course, and then cereal, cheese puffs, chips, barbeque sauce, and some other grocery. I don't know why they feel this is necessary since they're not a full grocery store you can't prepare a list. I know what they're trying to do, they're just making more money by having you impulse purchase, I get it many stores do this, however Menard's has taken it to a new level. Not to mention the aggravation if you bring kids with you, they were just begging for the junk food. The location is North of the Plaza Mall, which is now back on the redevelopment track, it was being closed and foreclosed on so that malls future will be interesting. Next to this Menard's you have a Meijer coming in soon, along with a Micheal's and a Ross. None of which are stores I frequent, however if I had to go to one of them these locations are very accessible to anyone living on the south side. read more

WARNING, Horrible business Horrible manager, the MANAGER has no clue what customer service is, what a idiot. I had worst possible experience with this store delivery crew and the manager. I bought drywall 200 sheets, paid for delivery, schedule delivery two days later, they give you 3 hours window so i am waiting at the job site with three guys which i paid to help me bring the drywall in, the Menards delivery never showed up, no call, no i am sorry, nothing, later on i call back still no apology no explanation so I said well... will reschedule, again three horse waiting with three people which I paid, still no show, this time I go back to the store I make a little noise and they finally said will call you before we deliver, couple of days later they call and said they will be there in half hour, will drop it in the back on the garage slab, i told them, do not do that i can't get there for three hours and it's going to rain, they said we got orders to do it today and they hang up the phone. I got there three hours later and this is what i found. Not only wet drywall but also damaged by the delivery crew. read more

Some guy accosted me and claimed he knew me, and I played along--until he asked for money. "("Sorry, dude," I said in my best slacker-stoner voice, "I only carry plastic! Wife's orders!" I even emitted that brief emotionless laugh stoners are always making after they say something: "Hut-ha.") I told the security guards about it, but a week later, I saw the same guy trying to scam money. Beautiful store, though--and it has stayed beautiful. It hasn't become dingy like so many other box stores on the SW Side--like Walmart, Office Max, etc. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. Last week, we purchased new kitchen appliances at Menards because ours had died. They should have delivered them that day, but they made us wait until today, promising they'd be delivered before 10AM. We made do with no real food, waiting for this morning. I called when they were an hour late, and I made calls every few hours to the store and the delivery driver, trying to find out what was going on. The store employee said, "The delivery guy didn't have many deliveries out that way [10 minutes from the store], so he didn't pick up the appliances because he didn't feel like it." He didn't feel like it?! Then she hinted that we might not get our purchases at all today OR tomorrow. Every bit of this is unacceptable. We waited days in the first place, then waited around all day for the delivery, losing income. The delivery driver showed up six hours late with zero explanation or apology and almost didn't even remove the boxes from the appliances. I did purchase $500 door and it comes first times with the defects of window frame, I wait for another week to get replacement, new door came with similar defects. I did call store manager and he offer me $50 discount to take this door as is... disappointment.. No excuse, store manager Michael was very rude and incompetent, he suggest to fill up some forms and mail, yes mail, spending extra of my time, and manager just observe it and didn't try to find solution for the problem and escalate with manufacturers... not his problem..they call "guest" problem. Finally I decided to cancel my order and return my money and they try to charge me for restocking fee...want to be fair some workers knows about customer service and did try to make money return with respect and professional manner. On Saturday October 17th 2020 I went to this location Menards to purchase a snowblower and I did except when the workers that took it out to my car took it out the box to put in my car and as they took it out the box we noticed that gasoline was leaking from the snowblower and if the snow blower was brand-new why would there be any gasoline in a snowblower leaking all over the Box onto my seat of my car so I had to take it back in the store and a customer service manager then try to tell me that that's how snow blowers come they come with gasoline and that's not true no nothing new comes with gasoline already in the snowblower!!! They sold me a refurbished snow blower so I made them to replace it the SAME day I purchase it had purchase it with a newer one and it didn't smell like gasoline!!! So long story short they're reselling refurbished snow blowers at this location as if they are new!!! I wouldn't buy a damn thing else from this location I just wanted to let you all know that they don't have good merchandise at this location everything they have is refurbished NOT brand new and when I tried to call the Corporate number to make a complaint everything you have to write or email to complain to corporate and that shouldn't be !!! They take our money but they will barely take an i item or merchandise back if defective which is very wrong. They failed to explain their return policies without having a receipt. Now I've returned an item and did not recieve full price. When I questioned the cashier said it cost a certain amount each. When I found my receipt and returned to the store they said I could not get the rest of my money back. Before I came to the store I called them and they said return the rest of my money would be no problem. Now I'm out of some money because of their unspoken policies. read more

I love the store but ordering on line and pick prove to be a challenge. If you order on line not every item will be pulled by Menards. My experience is that they do not tell you what desk to go to for pick up. The contractor area is way in the back of the store. Then they have to verify your order from what you. Ordered on line..then they tell you to drive around to the yard. Then you have to show your order to yard security. Part of the 'they pull is inside' part may be outside..part of what you pull is up to you but they may assist you. I ordered the wrong depth plywood but then had to go all the way to the front to pay for it and the invoice yard gave me a paper just handwritten marked return required I go all the way to In door desk at front of store . so I had to pay for new plywood at out cash registers..run all the way to inside desk. In the meantime my contractor is waiting In the yard. I ran out of time and decided to go back later to have the wrong plywood credited back. When you buy on line you have no cash register receipt. On my return they did not believe me. So they made me wait while they looked at cameras in the yard. You have to go to the kiosk to get a real cash register receipt for your on line order. If you cannot remember It it is an issue& took nearly 40 minutes to get $14 credited back to my card after spending hundreds. It needs to be more centralized and If you cannot recall which credit card u used or have them all with you u may be out of luck . My blood pressure went up on this visit.
