I recently contacted J. D. Harps for an A.C. service call and was blown away by the level of service I received. For starters, Cindy, the person who schedules the service calls, couldn't have been nicer. My appointment was originally scheduled for 10am. Cindy called me at 9:45am to let me know that Jim was running a little late due to a snag he ran in to at the first job of the day. Being mindful of my time, she asked me if it was going to be an issue if Jim got to my place at 10:30am. I told her`it wouldn't be a problem. Once Jim arrived, (it was 10:20am) when he got there, he apologized for running late and proceeded to get to work. First, he put the gauges on the compressor outside and then let it run for a bit while he checked the blower unit on the inside. Turns out that the compressor was a few pounds low and needed a charge--that was it. Now one would think that since the first job of the day set him back time-wise, he'd rush through mine. NO WAY! Jim took the time to answer all my questions--believe me, I had a few too--and explain how to get the best performance out of my system. I'd highly recommend J.D. I woke up this morning and it felt warm In our house. The air conditioner was running, but it didn't feel cool. Our 7 year old air conditioner was running inside the house, but the outside unit itself wasn't working. My husband called at 7:00 am and left a message. The office lady got back within 20 minutes. She was very nice and said someone would be out in the afternoon. Well, Eric came out by 11:00 am and fixed our unit. He was very nice and we always call J. D. Harps for anything from fixing our dryer, refrigerator and actually putting in our air conditioner/furnace 7 years ago. After moving into a fixer upper and paying for one project after another, it was just our luck to find the washer we inherited didn't work. Not ready to buy a new one, we did the next best thing and looked on Yelp for a repair company who might be able to help. I called J D Harps, left a message and received a prompt call back shortly after from Cindy. To my surprise, Cindy said she would try to get me an appointment the same day! I ended up missing her call back to get me seen, but the repairmen came the next day, first thing in the morning. WOW what a great experience it was dealing with this company. When I called for my dryer to be repaired, Cindy answered the pone and was so accommodating when setting an appointment for me. My washer broke down last Sunday. I called JD Harps on Monday and they came out the same day to diagnose the problem. At first it was thought it could be an issue which might cause me to get a new washer entirely, luckily it was a very simple solution. My washer was fixed within a few days and I've just done my first load of laundry in a couple of weeks! The prices are reasonable and everyone knowledgeable and nice. If I could I'd give this place 6 stars!! Attention all south siders - this is the place to go! I had contacted a few places on Yelp based on the great reviews only to find they didn't service the south side of Chicago. I called a friend of mine (wish I had done weeks earlier) and she recommended JD Harps. Cindy in the office is so very sweet and accommodating and had someone at my house in less than an hour. Needed a new motor for my furnace which needed to be ordered but they came by and installed it less than 24 hours later. Can I say again how awesome they are? I called this company today, Monday morning(extremely hot and humid day), because my a/c stopped working yesterday. The woman in the office was very professional and said someone could come out between 11am & 1pm. She asked if I'd like a call when they were on the way and I said it wasn't necessary. She called anyway at 12 noon to let me know he was on his was and apologized for it taking long (even though he was within the time frame promised). He came and fixed my unit quickly & efficiently. My freezer refused to freeze properly, I tried to change the settings, waited 24 hours as recommended, after 2 rounds of that my ice cream was more cream than ice. I didn't want to lose all the stuff in my freezer. On Friday, I called many Appliances places no one could come before middle of next week. Then I called JD Harps and Jim was able to come the next day on a Saturday morning. He did a great job, kept everything clean, he explained what the problem was and how to prevent it in the future. Then he was nice enough to look at my dishwasher which hadn't worked in 2 years. I don't use it often, so it wasn't on the urgent list of things to fix. I thought I would have to buy a new one. He revived my dishwasher. Both items were fixed in a short amount of time on very short notice. I couldn't be happier and I will definitely use his services again to prepare my furnace for winter. I needed repair for my refrigerator and had no idea who to call. Always worried about being ripped off, I try to do some investigating before calling someone, so I checked the reviews on Yelp. JD Harps had good reviews and they were also located nearby so I figured i would try them. I'm glad I did. From the first phone call in the morning, through the service call, everything went smoothly and perfectly. The lady who answers their phones was very pleasant and worked with me on my schedule to have a repairman come late in the day so I could go to work first. Then Jim the repairman arrived exactly on time. He kept me informed of the diagnosing he was doing and then made the repair. Jim and his helper even helped to unload and reload the refrigerator when they completed the repairs. They were very neat and efficient. I feel the price I was charged was reasonable. I now have one of their stickers so I know who to call in the future. I'm glad I tried this company. Highly recommended. read more
