Dave came out to look at my now toasty warm 25 year old refrigerator. Starting withthe thermostat and working his way deeper into the unit he found a fried circuit/computer board. Had a replacement on hand, pulled out the old one but found pretty severe scorcing on the board. Pulled the unit out from the wall and tested the compressor and found it to be faulty. A new circuit board would only burn out and a new compressor was taking me into the big $$$ repair range. At this price point and age of the unit, both Daveand i agreed I am probably better off with a new unit. He then spent another 15 minutes offering excellent tips and points on what units I should be looking for and why. Our technician, Tony, was fantastic. My Kenmore (LG) dryer was making noise because one of the wheels that rotates the drum was damaged. Tony arrived on time, quickly pulled the dryer apart, identified the problem accurately and recommended a source for a replacement kit at a fraction of the cost charged by LG. He then put the dryer back together. The next day, I notified him the kit was delivered and he was back at our house within a couple of hours. He quickly repaired the dryer leaving no mess behind. Both my husband and I, fairly adept at home repairs ourselves, were extremely impressed by Tony's knowledge and efficiency. He clearly stated the cost of service upon initial inspection and I feel it was a bargain. Basically saving me the couple of hours it would have taken me to do the job myself. read more

Had Tony out 5/21. Looked at and diagnosed my issues with 2 dryers. Had to get parts. Didn't hear anything until june1 when I called him back. Forgot who I was and what I needed. He admitted he forgot about me but would get right on the parts. Ne er heard back from him. I would not recommend them for anything after this fiasco. read more

Sent two emails asking for them to help us out. I received two automated return emails back. I thought I had found a reliable company. I was wrong. Just like most of the contractors you try to contact for service. They just ignore you and never call you back. There are better appliances places out there. Don't settle on this one. They have fixed my appliances multiple times. But now they are saying times have changed and they will no longer visit my location. I am a loyal customer, and they refuse to go the extra mile to accommodate. Tony was our repair person and in addition to fixing our dryer quickly, he gave us some tips on extending the life of our dryer. Very professional, clean and knowledgeable. I have a 18 year old 42" refrigerator that would cost the equivalent of a small vehicle to replace. Over the years I have used another local company, but he seems to be more in the mindsight of replacing appliances and not working on them. Most companies I called were a week out or not interested. After a slight communication problem, I was still able to get on the books and Tom showed up the next afternoon. He quickly diagnosed the problem and even had the the computer with him. He was in an out in less than a hour and hopefully Kitchen Aid will continue to make parts to keep this refridgerator going. read more

Garbage company with an awful answering service! If you need something fixed do not call them I've been waiting over a month for my washer to get fixed and in the hole $400. Wish I would have just gotten a new washer, instead they told us it's a great washer to fix it. Not a Company I would recommend. Scheduled an appointment. They asked what time would someone be home. Not until after 5pm. Ok not a problem they mentioned. The appoint was scheduled. They called the day of and said a repair person would be there between 4 & 7pm. I mentioned there would not be any one home until 5pm and after as I mentioned earlier in our conversation. This would not work for me. Can we reschedule. The appointment was rescheduled, after 2pm, two days later. they called the night the appointment was cancelled & said someone will be there in an hour. This appoint was cancelled earlier in the day. "Oh, it was" Yes it was. Scheduled for Wednesday after 2pm. She mentioned," oh I did not see the notes on my desk. Ok we'll give you a call in the morning the day of the new appointment day. OK that day came. I traveled from out of town for the appointment. Around 1pm the day of I had not heard from them. So, I called the office & got the answering service. Left message with them. They will pass it on. So, they called me back hours later & said they could not have anyone come out. What!! You're a reschedule from Sat.? No from Monday. Do you have the correct customer? I had a scheduled appointment. She did not see it on the schedule. I mentioned all the conversations, but that wasn't me you spoke with, being argumentative, I had with various people from the company. It did not faze her. Will you be home tomorrow? No I mentioned. I'm traveling back for work.. What time she mentioned? 4:30am. Oh I can't have someone there at that time!! She mentioned I'll see what I can do to get a repair person out this evening. No should luck. Called me back in the evening. I can't have any one there this evening. I WAS SO MAD. TRAVELING 2HOURS TO MEET WITH A REPAIR PERSON. AND A NO SHOW!! NOT HAPPY!!! That's fine. I had to click a start but i rated No Stars, A Person by the name Dave says he's the Owner of this Company when I asked his name to make a Complaint, he came into our home with a very bad attitude didnt want to put the shoe covers on his feet and threw his tools on the stove while my mother's food was sitting, when I asked him to move it he got very angry, then after about 15 mins he stated we need a new Refrigerator and proceeded to walk out and threw the shoe covers on my mother's table where all of her other food was, thus company needs to do better or be shut down and I will see to it that the Better Business Bureau gets involved immediately, he needs retraining on customers service skills and how to act while on the job. He also stated I NEED TO THROW AWAY THE SHOE COVERS AND THAT I HAVE A GARBAGE CAN. I will be seeing to it that this is reported. I did talk to a lady at 708 429 0799 and she answered and stated he is always like this with people I continued and told her she needs to retrain him and he also was yeahing racist remarks in the hallway while leaving saying I was a Stupid Nigga, im very displeased. read more

Like most things I have come to experience, the first time is the best and it goes down hill from there. A couple of years ago my washing machine broke down, so I figured that I would give Tom's a try. After a few phone calls to set up the appointment, a time was set up. The repair tech showed up on time and finished the job within the hour. The job was complete and no mess was made. Now skip a few years ahead, had some issues with the washer and again. It took two visits to complete the work and when all was done, my laundry room looked a war took place in there. There were marks in the wall where they banged the washer into the wall and there was grease all over the floor. Spent the rest of the day cleaning and painting the walls in the room. While the tech was here, I asked him to take a look at my refrigerator, it had some cosmetic issues. He decided to fool with it and just made it a lot worse. He then proceeded to tell me that he would order me a new one and he would come back to install. Well a couple of years now, I'm still waiting for that part. I checked myself on the part and it is obsolete and is not available. Never received a phone call explaining the status of the part. So now it is just taped in place, nice! And their so called emergency number is another joke. read more

The compressor in our refrigerator was over heating. Dave from Tom's Appliance Service came out Friday evening and replaced the fan and fixed the problem. We were great full they came out, new what was wrong, had the part and fixed it so quickly. read more

If I could give zero I would! My husband scheduled an appointment and we were told between 8-9 am we would get a phone call to let us know a time. No phone call was received. I decided to call and the lady said we aren't on the books. I asked how is that possible I was listening to the phone call and heard her say Thursday. Came to fix my washer. The entire experience was a NIGHTMARE. After calling them back twice because the first visit added more problems. I should of been the one upset, but the worker walked in my home mad at the world. Fixed nothing. He was very angry. I had to ask my neighbor to come over and sit with me, asked him to leave or I would call the police . The guy left my house wishing me "good luck fixing the 2 extra error codes he just added to my problem". I called the owner to inform him of this ongoing negative situation and of his irrational employee he was just as rude and unprofessional. STAY AWAY!! Ended up having to buy a new washer and that one was only a few years old. read more

I finally found an honest appliance repair company, they came out when they promised, after they check out my washer and determined that it needed a new pump but had to order one because they didn't have the one I need, they where back in two day installing the new pump, and didn't cost me an arm and a leg, I would definitely recommend them and call them again if ever needed!! Tom Jr. came out for my washing machine. He did a very thorough inspection. After all said and done he said he could fix it but the amount of money it would cost me, I would be better off getting a new washer. He gave me a lot of info when choosing a new one and places to go. I appreciate how honest he was. He could have just pushed to fix it and make the money. I think that is a great tech!! When starting this review up I noticed there were 2 Tom's Appliances just blocks from each other. I double checked my bill to make sure I had the right address and the correct store. I called because my dryer was not working and a friend recommended them. Though I live a pretty good jaunt south of him, they were willing to come out to my house. I was able to choose my date, received a call to tell me when my 2 hour window would be on the morning of the appointment, and a 2nd call about 10 minutes before the repairman showed up to tell me he was on his way. I had let them know my problem (no heat) and model of dryer. This guy (Al) was friendly, helpful, clean, and reasonable. He brought some pieces with him that might fix my problem based on my original complaint, and sure enough, he had the specific coils I needed with him. I was very impressed, and they definitely measure up to my friend's original recommendation. I did not look here before I went to post, but now that I have, am confused about the other post. Perhaps it was the other Tom's? Or a major miscommunication? Anyway, my experience was fantastic - painless (pocketbook-wise) and quick. read more

Stay away from this place! I have used these guy's 3-4 times awhile back and was satisfied till Dave the owner came out to install a new dishwasher with nothing but attitude!! He tried to jack up the price with nothing but nonsense of how and what I needed to make my new BOSCH dishwasher work.I called Dave's Appliance Service of my hometown of Midlothian and payed $115.00 compared to what Dave (from Tom's Appliance) told me $200 plus install.Edgar my installer from Dave's Appliance was awesome and Dave the owner (from Dave's appliance) was honest and has very good prices. read more

This company came to my condo building to fix someone else's water issue. They cut off the water in the condo below us and caused our water source to diminish. When calling the company's owner, they were rude and stated that it was not their issue. Even after I explained that all of the water pipes are connected because the water is included in the mortgage for everyone. The maintenance worker appeared to be incompetent. I do not recommend this business. read more

Spoke to the owners son, Dave. He was incredulous. Had called them Saturday and told them the water heater was leaking, was 12 years old and needed to be replaced before it dumped 50 gallons all over the basement. Agreed to have service call Monday afternoon discussed costs of replacement and brand. after rearranging my schedule to be home Monday, the guy shows up and tells me it needs to replaced, and that he would need to come back tomorrow and replace it. It was not his fault, so after scheduling the second visit I called the office and expressed my displeasure. the woman told me the owner would call back. Dave calls and tells me they always schedule two visits, one to verify what is needed, the other to compete the project. If that is the case, fine...Just tell me. I could have asked a neighbor to let in the service tech for the first visit. Dave did not seem to care. He did not think it was important to keep the customer informed and manage expectations. He instead wanted to tell me how must of his customers don't know what they are doing and most times incorrectly identified the problem. Instead of apologizing, he wanted to tell me his customers are not very bright. You can do business with them if you want, but I will not support a person that thinks so little of his customers, that we would collectively blame them for this owns staff's inability to communicate. I cancelled the order with them, called Connell Plumbing out of Brookfield and they will be here within the hour. read more
