Had a replacement on hand, pulled out the old one but found pretty severe scorcing on the board. Pulled the unit out from the wall and tested the compressor and found it to be faulty. A new circuit board would only burn out and a new compressor was taking me into the big $$$ repair range. At this price point and age of the unit, both Daveand i agreed I am probably better off with a new unit. He then spent another 15 minutes offering excellent tips and points on what units I should be looking for and why. Excellent service and I will keep his info close at hand if/when any other appliances need repair.

Our technician, Tony, was fantastic. My Kenmore (LG) dryer was making noise because one of the…read morewheels that rotates the drum was damaged. Tony arrived on time, quickly pulled the dryer apart, identified the problem accurately and recommended a source for a replacement kit at a fraction of the cost charged by LG. He then put the dryer back together. The next day, I notified him the kit was delivered and he was back at our house within a couple of hours. He quickly repaired the dryer leaving no mess behind. Both my husband and I, fairly adept at home repairs ourselves, were extremely impressed by Tony's knowledge and efficiency. He clearly stated the cost of service upon initial inspection and I feel it was a bargain. Basically saving me the couple of hours it would have taken me to do the job myself.

Brad came out and couldn't immediately find a problem with the refrigerator, but stuck around for a while and checked ALL related parts to be sure. PS...he left and it was working. A couple months later, it began tripping the circuit again, and I called. He came out the next day, and went through things again, and rather than taking the time to replace parts (that would probably cost more than the fridge is worth!), he suggested I replace the outlet. When i went out to check up with him, he was on the phone with his brother (it's a family business) talking about the issue, and he even showed me that he took the time to google any similar issues. I call that A+ service. He offered the least expensive solution, and as soon as I replace the outlet box, I'll update this review. Either way, he was incredibly friendly and thorough with the whole process. Don't hesitate to reach out to Jim's...PLUS it's a family business!

Think twice before inviting this company into your home…read more I scheduled an appliance inspection, and although I couldn't be there in person, my family was home while I stayed on speakerphone the entire time. From the moment the technician arrived, he seemed upset that I wasn't there. He then became irritated after learning I had previously asked another company to inspect the appliance. As a paying customer, I have every right to get a second opinion before deciding on a repair. He also questioned how I was going to pay, and when I told him I could pay with cash or card--whichever he preferred--his attitude only got worse. He became loud, rude, and unprofessional before deciding to leave without even completing the inspection. The most disappointing part was that this happened inside my home, in front of my family, including my son. If I remember correctly, his name was Brad (the technician, or possibly the owner of the company), although I can't say with complete certainty. Respect and professionalism should never be optional when you're entering someone's home. Unfortunately, that was completely missing during this visit. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this company.

I described the problem and the man said it would be $65 for the visit. The $65 would be applied to the repair. He gave me a couple estimates high and low based on what I said was wrong. I thought it was iffy that I received a return call from another number. On top of the computer voice it did not seem right. I called the 312 number back and I asked the name of the company. He said it was Ace Appliance Repair. I asked for their location and he said we don't have a location. If they don't have a location then my guess is that their location is Sketchville USA. I wanted to support a small business. Hills Appliance Repair says they are on 80th Place. I also noticed that the reviews for this company are all 4 years old or more.

This past weekend my husband & I were working…read moreon packing up his place & we discovered that his soon-to-be relocated dryer (much nicer/newer than mine) was not working properly. Given that we are due to officially move it to replace the other dryer in less than two weeks, this was definitely a snag we didn't need. So, before my head started to spin I did a quick Yelp search in the area. The choices were almost none, except for Hill's, who already had 4 other positive reviews. In any event, I called on a holiday expecting to get an answering machine, and surprisingly got Albert (the owner). He was so, so sweet, and was able to schedule someone to come out the next day! Damen (Albert's grandson) showed up right on time, and had it diagnosed and fixed in under 15 minutes. Seriously?! He was so kind, professional, and clearly knew what he was doing. Plus, the repair (which is under warranty for 90 days mind you) did not break the bank. I would highly recommend Hill's for any of your appliance issues.

I'm not completely unhandy, and knew to make sure it was at least level and to make sure the clothes were distributed evenly. I called a couple repair companies. Most had nearly a week backlog. This company was able to come out within a day or two so I gave it a shot. This is why they get 2 stars. I was told a service call was approximately $70. A tech arrived. His card said Habib. He looked under the washer and insisted it wasn't level. I politely argued. He then ran a nearly empty load. Although it banged around more than usual, it didn't walk around, so he insisted it was fine and charged me $90 for adjusting the legs and telling me the transmission is leaking and isn't worth fixing. I did my laundry on the weekend like I always do. It banged and walked around like before the service call. No change. I tried calling twice, but they haven't answered. The tech told me it's not worth putting much money into, so I don't feel much pressure to have them come back. I cant see myself calling them again for another repair anyway.

I've had them out twice now for two different appliances. They're absolutely phenomenal…read more The dryer: Not only did they fix my presenting problem, but they threw a new lightbulb into my dryer. I didn't even ask. They just noticed it was out, and replaced it because it needed replacing. They also vacuumed out and cleaned up the inside of my dryer as part of their service (another thing a previous company did not do.) They genuinely care that your appliances are operating the best they can, and they really go the extra mile. The stove: I had another company tell me that I needed to replace pretty much every part on my stove (a whole list of 5 of these and 6 of these), and they estimated me over $500. Jim-Co didn't even need to replace the part. Their technician used some standard tools to adjust the existing valve (no replacement necessary) and identified the other part that was broken. The part was no longer available, so he explained a workaround I could use if I wanted to continue to use my antique stove. Only charged me for the service call. I absolutely love Jim-Co, because they genuinely know what they're doing. I feel like a lot of modern repair companies just replace parts indiscriminately, but at Jim-Co, they understand how a part works, and they can sometimes fix a component, which ultimately saves you money. I still can't believe someone estimated me hundreds of dollars to replace all of the valves on my stove, and Jim-Co was able to manually adjust them for the mere price of a service call. I wish I could give 100 stars. Seriously. They know how to diagnose a problem. There's no guesswork. And that ultimately saves YOU money because you're not paying to replace components unless they absolutely need replacing. I've met three technicians, and all three have been respectful. Unfortunately, that seems to be rare in the appliance repair industry as well.

I cannot recommend Jim-Co enough. Our dryer went out on us, I googled the problem, realized that I…read morecould not fix it. Called them up and they came out within the week (more about that later). The technician determined I had bad coils, which is what google told me, changed them and put everything back together. There was no way I would have been able to correctly re-assemble the dryer so the cost was well worth the wait time and the service itself. 2 weeks later the dryer is doing the same thing, I call, a couple of days later he comes out again and finds that one of my thermostats is broken, he repairs it free of charge and only charges me for the part. Jim-Co is literally a mom and pop operation. You call a landline phone and chances are you get an answering machine. The message tells you when they expect to have a break in service (it could be a week or so), you leave a message and they get back to you to schedule it. For the price, quality of work, and knowing I am supporting a local business - it is well worth the extra time I have to wait.

My sister recommended Terry's Service; really, if she can't find something wrong, there's nothing wrong to find. I called kinda late in the day, and got a call back from Colin the next morning. We set up an appointment for the following Monday afternoon. Colin arrived, got a listen to the dryer, removed some of the housing and... there were great gobs of compacted lint in the lint trap. (I clean the lint trap, but this was beyond what I could reach.) He cleaned it out, told me (when asked) how I could keep this clean myself, replaced a screw that held the trap in place (that screw was removed at installation some years back and for some reason never replaced). And he did a nice job of cleaning up the stuff he pulled out of the dryer. Problem solved. My dryer is humming along again, and I'm happy. His charges were reasonable, too, so I'm really happy.
