I've had bad experiences here before but nobody does a thin crust like MPC. Yep, they have a real pizza oven too, not one of those conveyor- belt contraptions. They actually cook here. Whenever we need a quick bite, that we know is going to be good, feed the kids and is close to anything in midtown, it's going to be MPC. You know how you just have a drink or a menu item that you know you're going to order at specific restaurants? Well mine ag MPC is a half Hawaiian salad and a slice of bbq chicken pizza. It slaps Every. Single. Time. HOWEVER MPC WHHHYYYY did you forget the mozzarella cheese on my salad it's literally my favorite part (insert chef hand gesture here) It's the only reason I can't score 5 stars for our visit. Even the ranch is out of this world, and in such a Hidden Valley / Kens Ranch Era, you simply cannot underestimate the value of a good homemade ranch like the one at MPC. We sat on the patio, the fans didn't really do much but it was not too hot out. I think I'd rather actually have sit inside because the vibe is vibing in there, but we had a good time and good food. Each year for Valentines, my family and I try a different pizza place that we haven't tried. This is pretty neat spot located in the heart of Midtown serving up pizza in their own unique way. We had 4 types of pizza including pepperoni, beef, Buffalo chicken, and all of the meats! They were all tasty and served on thin crust. So, if you are a pizza lover who likes a different kind of pizza, lost of sauce, and tones of cheese, this is not the place for you. But, trust me you will enjoy it. Must admit, we have been coming here for atleast 15 years. This is for sure some of the best pizza in memphis. They have a very unique, thin, cracker like Roman crust. They have some excellent flavor combos. Our family usually goes with the basics but we mix it up occasional. They do a decent Greek and garden salad. They have the absolute best ranch. This location ebbs and flows as far as service goes but the quality of your food is pretty consistent. I just called the Manager. Last night at 9:30 I stopped by this Memphis Pizza Cafe for some pizza with a friend. I used a credit card that I hardly ever use to pay for the order. Two hours later, someone tried to buy tickets for a sports game on my card for $835using that card. It did not go through because they could not provide my address. Be aware there is a credit card thief working at this location looking to steal your credit card information. the management didn't seem to care. read more

I finally tried out this pizza. They definitely could use a bigger venue. The bar can seat around 7 or 8. The staff did a really good job paying attention to who was coming and going throughout the evening. Our waitress was super friendly and attentive as well despite their being packed and busy on a Friday night. Now for the pizza. It had the perfect detectible thin crust that I'm always searching for. Some of the pizzas have an olive oil base instead of pizza sauce. You can order pizza by the slice and they happily offer a half and half pizza. read more

The best part of dinner was the patio; overlooking Overton square, there was an amateur theater company performing a classic Shakespeare play, a dinner & a show! The food is good. The service for the most pretty food. The kitchen looks a little dingy and out dated. Just be careful what time you do go. If it's on a weekend there's a good chance that the service will be poor and annoying. It's been a looooong time since I've been to this particular location. I think I know why I'm not as fond of this chain- I'm not big on thin crust pizza. That seems to be their specialty. I was with a group and we ordered a bunch of pizzas for everyone to share. If I find myself at this chain again I'll have to see if I can get a thick crust slice/pizza to see how I like that. I enjoyed the Hawaiian, as I expected to. What was unexpected was how much I enjoyed the Buffalo Chicken. Usually there's a cloying aftertaste for me whenever I eat Buffalo anything but this was balanced so that it wasn't overwhelming and for me it tasted great. The Trip-A-Roni was too greasy for me but everyone else seemed to love it. I have to admit, their S'more's pizza is pretty amazing. Of course, it's the first one I've ever tried. Still, I'd come back to get just that and be happy. Nothing else really wowed me but it wasn't terrible either. For some reason I didn't discover Memphis pizza cafe for quite a while living in Memphis, but since I've discovered it, it's been a pretty go-to place for friends when we're in the Overton Square area. It has something for everyone even if you have picky friend (speaking from personal experience). Sadly recently with the pandemic, we haven't gotten out there as much, but a couple weeks ago a friend and I thought we'd try it out since they have a pretty nice outdoor patio space. I suppose a word of caution - they didn't let us specifically request to be outside though we tried, and we just happened to be placed outside. So if the outdoor space specifically is something you're looking for maybe call ahead? Or go at like 3p when it's not lunch or dinner so that you won't have to just get lucky like we did. This is one of my absolute favorite pizza places in Memphis. I think we tend to underestimate the impact of Memphis' delicious aquifer water on the quality of our pizza crust. I always order the thin-crusted pizza and I just love the crunch of their crust along the wide edges of the pizza. LOL The flavor of the pizza is never too bland and never too salty. It's always just right. I love how they properly chop all of their toppings into prefect, bite-sized pieces. I haven't even gotten to the price. It's amazing to me that this pizza is so reasonable. With Overton Square now bustling, the parking situation is a little harder these days, but Memphis Pizza Cafe was there before the revival of this entertainment district and it will likely outlast any potential downturns. I'm completely fine with that but once we did our waiter felt like she wanted nothing to do with us. She was cold, blank, and rude. Threw me off from the first start. Got our drinks and then she took are order. It then took around 40-45 for our two slices to come out. The pizza crust was paper thin and burnt. Didn't even finish it. Service was extremely poor. The lady ignored us and took 3 other tables in the section before us. Of course, they got their food and we did not. I'm writing this as we are still waiting for the pizza to come out. When I politely asked the lady about the food she responds aggressively as if I was bothering her. This was after ignoring me the first 3 times I said excuse me trying to get her attention. I'm pretty sure this was based solely on the color of our skin. I'm editing to say that I didn't leave because I had my two sons with me and I didn't want to send them a message of you have to go when someone has a problem with you or the color of your skin. It's just pizza but who is she to deny my sons service? Instead, I spoke with a manager and asked for another waitress. Both were awesome! I paid for our food and left my usually 25% tip. During her diatribe of "it isn't her fault all her other tables were served before us even though they came in after us" she mentioned she worked there for five years. I can only imagine the amount of people she has treated this way during that time. I won't say avoid this restaurant; but, I will say avoid that particular waitress and if you feel you are being ignored or being mistreated during your visit here you probably are. read more

Date of Visit: April 21, 2019 There was no hostess nor a sign that said you could seat yourself, so I stood there for five minutes looking stupid until an employee said that I could sit wherever I wanted. The server that came seemed annoyed that I wanted to order ginger ale & then water since there was no ginger ale, but the interaction did get better after that. The barbecue chicken pizza was very good. I read their menu & liked every ingredient listed on the dessert menu for their apple streusel pizza & the smores pizza, so I ordered a slice of both. The Apple Streusel Pizza had a slightly harder bottom than I expected, but it didn't affect the taste. The Smores Pizza was pretty good with the same slightly harder bottom than I expected.
