Glad the moron former owner is gone. Clueless to the vibe and smoke flavor. He drove it into the ground. I guess he thought he was going to create the French Laundry of bbq. read more

I went to Memphis Minnie's when I heard they reopened and had a solid experience. Overall, I really enjoyed the ribs and side that I had. I wouldn't say it's the best I ever had, but a solid option in San Francisco. The vibe of the restaurant is more casual and honey, which I was a fan of. The only bummer is that when I visited they didn't have their alcohol license yet. But besides that service was good. read more

Memphis Minnie's - (3Pcs) St. Louis Style Smoked Pork Ribs - Barbeque Near Me - San Francisco, California

I love BBQ! Probably, one of the best BBQ spots in San Francisco. It's kind of a hole in the wall sort of place. Nothing glamorous or Instagram worthy. However, it's all about the food! I don't know if it's a new cook, but it's definitely different from 5 months ago. I ordered 1/2 lb of smoked chicken, 1/2 lb of beef brisket, pork ribs, corn bread, and of course their chicken Caesar salad. All three meats were a little dry but no worries, a little or a lot of BBQ sauce can fix any problem. And they have some bomb ass sauce. All four of the sauces were delicious and all went well with the meats. The corn bread this time was much better than the last time. I am thinking maybe they got a new recipe because it sure tastes better. The only thing that wasn't an upgrade was the chicken caesar salad. It's not bad, it's just different because the old dressing married the meat and salad perfectly together. The new dressing is just a little lighter in favor and I like mine dressing to bring on a heart attack. For those curious about service. There's none. You are your own server. You place an order: food is ready, the cook looks at you and you go pick it up. Don't forget to ask for utensils because it's not on the table. Parking: It sucks! There's not a lot of parking so it might take some time. Therefore, don't come hungry. Price: It's San Francisco, everything is pricey, with that being said; it wasn't that pricey. This dinner did not break the bank. read more

We ate at Memphis Minnie's the first time when we had a family trip to San Francisco in 2007 - good flavor . Then we moved to San Francisco during the pandemic and ate at Memphis MINnies probably two or three years ago - not much flavor. But we heard it was under new management or ownership so we tried it again last night and the food was great! read more

The food is so good that it makes up for the lack of ambiance and perfunctory service. Portions are generous and tasty. Only thing that didn't hit the spot was the Cole slaw, which was way too sweet and needed more vinegar or something savory. We hadn't been there for years and were happy to come back. Best ribs we've had in years. Smoky, tender, flavorful. Yum. read more

Minnie's is back. As the other recent reviews say, if you stopped coming to this place in recent years when the quality and menu had changed, definitely give the revamped Minnie's a try. Menu is back to normal and the brisket was delicious. Better portions, prices and def less salty than that other BBQ joint on Divis. read more

This review is needed. Let's get to the point. I gotten the rib tips, sides of beans and Mac n cheese. The meat had good flavor-- but it was so rough I couldn't chew or swallow it. The sauces in the bottles of bbq sauce on the table had nasty flavor.. not close to bbq sauce. The beans tasted like "canned chili pinto beans". The Mac n cheese was ok. But after a few Hours my stomach was hurting and today. This is the main concern! The tables were sticky and needed cleaning. I wouldn't recommend this place . read more

I was craving BBQ, so I decided to try Memphis Minnie's after finding them on DoorDash. I ordered the pulled spicy chicken sandwich with a side of mac and cheese, cornbread muffins, and BBQ seasoned fries. I already knew I made a mistake when I opened my box; they didn't have a description of how the pulled spicy chicken was prepared, so I assumed it would be similar to pulled pork. Instead, it was tossed in a creamy sauce (which was not good). The cornbread muffin was dry, and the mac and cheese was just ok. I had also requested ketchup with the fries, but it did not come with any. Maybe their other menu items are better, but I was unfortunately disappointed with my order. read more

Wow what an upgrade. The new owners have completely changed direction. Really good quality BBQ meats prepared with care. Great service, huge non BBQ menu as well, fried chicken sandwich is yummy and enormous. My go to now for BBQ , still miss Leons. read more

I come here way too often. The smoked pork is like a drug. I should probably see an addiction counselor.

Good brisket and good cornbread! Was in SF for a work trip and stopped in at this joint, and it didn't disappoint. Definitely give it a try.

Let me start by saying if could give zero stars I would. A friend ordered catering for a school dinner dance. She ordered 12 of the VIP Packages and extra cornbread. The food was to be delivered at 6pm. The cost of the food was $1808. At 5:45 we received a call that they were still finishing the food so they were going be late. The event was in El Cerrito and they were delivering from San Francisco. They finally arrived with the food around 6:40. They were in those black totes that you get from Costco with the yellow lids. The food was not hot. All the meats were individually wrapped. There was not the 9 meats that were advertised. There was not nearly enough food for 115 people as contracted for. The sides came in small individual containers. When transferred those into the aluminum pans they were not even half filled again clearly not enough to feed even 50 people. The fries were the only side that almost filled the container but. It was extremely stressful. We had to spend a lot of time unwrapping the meats and sides. No labels on anything. None of the 3 sauces they sent had labels. We had to cut the big ribs and chicken to try to stretch the meal. We had to have people quickly go restaurants near by and get food to try to make up for the lack of food. Needless to say the event was stressful. Some people did not even eat to ensure others had enough food. I would definitely never order catering from this restaurant again and wouldn't even be willing to try the actual restaurant. read more

They have reopened and the cook is running the business since 12/25 They have the Wed to Friday lunch specials. The burger Friday is the on with deep fried onion strings, cheese and hamburger patty cooked to the temp you want. The cook mentioned they are changing the way they prep the bbq ribs so they don't dry out on the rack. No BBQ beef ribs on the menu anymore. The Friday special does come with a side of your choice. Another customer was enjoying the greens. read more

Memphis Minnie's - VERY DRY St. Louis Style Smoked 3 Pork-Ribs (3 Pcs) (Resembles the texture of beef jerky) - Barbeque Near Me - San Francisco, California

Tucked away in the streets of San Francisco is a dive of a place, Memphis Minnie's. With only 5 small tables, this place was made for takeout. My family of four met up with a family of five, and we filled 40% of the room. My family ordered the "VIP party" which consisted of a generous sampling of all of their meats and all of their sides (which was sufficient for 2 adults and 2 pre-teens, plus a to-go box for some late night grazing) The food was really good, but what struck me was the service. The person at the counter (don't know if he's the manager or owner) was very hospitable to the children in our party. Our friends got there before we did, and they told us that when they came in with their two preteens and one 5 year old, the manager brought them a plate of mac and cheese as a "sample". Later in the meal, he even brought a smoke cake - 3 store bought Little Debbie type cakes stuck with some Pocky and 2 candles in a dome filled with smoke (wish I'd taken a picture!). It's these little experiences that turns a dinner outing into a memory. Please check out Memphis Minnie's for a great meal! read more

The absolute worst taste of unseasoned meat. I was served chunks of fat when I ordered brisket and craft sauce over spiral noodles and sweet potatoes with served hard with no cinnamon. It's empty for a reason. The meat is smoked to perfection but has no rub. read more

The spunky southern ambiance is largely why I'm going with 4 stars instead of 3. I've both ordered delivery and physically eaten at Memphis Minnie's a few times over the past year, and each time it doesn't grab my taste buds in a way that makes me eager to go back. Lean brisket, runny mac n cheese, all a little more on the bland side as far as BBQ goes, but I do genuinely think this place is worth a try. The staff is very kind and there was a recent change in ownership, so I think it's worth giving them a shot as they grow in their new direction. read more

Memphis Minnie's - Minnie's Smoked Fried Chicken, Santa Maria Tri-Tip Steak, Slow Smoked Texas Beef Brisket - Barbeque Near Me - San Francisco, California

Back in the days of my youth almost every neighborhood in San Francisco had a good bbq spot to pick up some good soul food. Leon's, Nate's, Kansas City, brothers, bbq warehouse. Most of the great rib places of my youth are gone. It was a little off when I returned to Memphis Minnies to try out the bbq. It had been years since I had tried the place. I expected to see the big burly guy I remembered but instead I saw a small, slim , smiling Korean lady ! Ok Korea had great bbq and perhaps the bbq culinary world was moving from further out east than I thought. Tried the ribs, smoked fried chicken, and hot links. All pretty good! I was especially impressed with the moist and tender chunks of smoked meat. Even the chicken breast meat was really moist and not dried out. A slight Smokey flavor with no trace of reheated, stale, left overs. The pork rib was juicy, flavorful and even had a nice even smoke ring around the meat. The portions are not like gorilla bbq that rival the Flintstones dinosaur portions but filling enough. My fellow coworker ordered the pulled pork sandwich that was devoured in minutes! All in all, it was a nice surprise that I could relive a little of my youth with this cuisine. read more

I was extremely surprised the taste of food when I visited Memphis Minnie's BBQ Joint in SF. It's more like a smoked meat than BBQ. I ordered Saugage and cornbread which was just 'ok', the potato salad disappointing lack of good favor. I was thinking I was going to have southern style Memphis BBQ based on name of restaurant. 'Not' I also felt they were somewhat pricey based on small portion of food. Lastly, it was 12:30pm on a Tuesday, (2) people were sitting in restaurant eating, and (1) came in ordered take out, and I sat and ate there 1 hour 10 mins. I would not recommend this place for Good BBQ. read more

Coming from Texas, I happen to be a bit of a BBQ connoisseur. Thus far, I have yet to find a BBQ joint in the bay area I would consider pleasing and Memphis Minnie's is no exception. I have a few friends that seem to love it, so I cannot pass too much judgement. This being said, I have tried it multiple times and am continually disappointed with the food. Don't get me wrong; the staff and atmosphere is great and there is always a line out the door. However, if my friends are wanting a Memphis Minnie's catered event, I usually offer to BBQ instead. This being said, please take the following review with a grain of salt. I find most of their meats dry and flavored only with sauce. I am extremely picky when it comes to brisket and would not recommend it here. Also, their burgers tend to be lacking in flavor and texture. read more

I went back and forth between 3 and 4 stars because one one hand, a couple items here are really good. But for a place that specializes in bbq, it unfortunately was not what I'd recommend for out of towners used to finger licking bbq. The bbq itself is not tender and fall off the bone. Maybe it was an off day or something. But, their fried chicken and pastrami sandwich are chef's kiss. And service is really nice so I feel for giving 3 stars. But I feel like I would be doing disservice to both the restaurant owners (can't improve without feedback) and the foodies (who wanna know what to expect). read more

I've came here a few times over the years dating back to 2017. I labeled this one of the best bbq joints around when it comes to meats. Located on the iconic Haight st so good luck finding parking nearby but you'll find something eventually. There is outdoor seating in front with the table and awning so you can't miss it. Now to the food.. the first and last thing I've ordered was the spicy chicken sandwich and it hasn't lost a step. Juicy and filled with flavor. Fries are pretty good but nothing to rave or complain about. The brisket is one of the best things you can get here but the sandwich I got was a bit on the dry side which leads to my strongest opinion of this place.. probably the biggest let down when it comes to falling in love with the meat and being let down by the sauce. It's literally red colored water unless you like the mustard type(not bad). If you ordered to go or snuck a bottle of sweet baby ray's in then you might die of satisfaction so perhaps this is the middle ground required to save a few lives? Jk. I wanna add the sides portions are kinda small but the quality is pretty good, especially the mac n cheese. I'm not exactly sure but I feel like this establishment might be under new management being that the interior has changed and upgraded a lot. It kinda had a dirty dive-esque look to it before and now it looks rather modern. Not a complaint but the food tasted a bit different and the decor changed so I mightve done my own math on that. Anyway, give these guys a try and see for yourself. I'm sure there's plenty that you'll love about this place read more

I have heard so many good things about this place so I was excited to support their restaurant. Having moved back to California from the Midwest I have been craving some good bbq. A place with Memphis in the name seemed like the best choice. We went on a Saturday night and it was almost empty so we were seated right away. It's a small restaurant with a few photos on the wall. The server was very attentive and took our order quickly. I was very excited to see rib tips on the menu as they hardly have them in the Midwest. I wish they had put sauce on the rib tips beforehand. My partner got the brisket which was really good. I ended up eating some of it. I was not a fan of the greens or pit beans. The beans had no seasoning or anything on them which I had never experienced before. The mac & cheese and cornbread muffins were great. The thing that threw me off the most was the lack of sweet bbq sauce. Memphis has some great sweet bbq sauces so I expected to have some. Overall I'd recommend going because their meats are good. read more

Being from Memphis this is not it at all, I ordered Minnie's Taster I got slow smoked Texas beef brisket, the smoked fried chicken, and the ST. Louis style smoked ribs The brisket was not good even with the bbq sauce or the other sauce they included The smoked fried chicken was disgusting no other words for that And the ribs were ok but they didn't have any flavor I got the potato salad and fries for sides the fries were garbage but that's to be expected since I used Uber I didn't get to taste the potato salad because no utensils were included So it's a no for me Memphis bbq has seasoning and none of this was seasoned at all.
