One of the best cheesesteaks I've had by far in the sco

Everything off the menu is fire! You can taste the quality and love they put into their food. The owner is a native and you can feel the love every time we come in.

    Burger

First time at Metro Caffe and all I got was a blue cheese burger. The service was very quick, which was great. But I was disappointed with the size of the burger patty. It was extremely thin. So if you're looking for your burger meat fix, you may want to go somewhere else.

Solid Philly cheesesteaks here. I actually liked the peppers contrary to some other reviews. I kinda wish I didn't get something with lettuce and tomatoes so they could fill it with more of the meat, peppers, and cheese - the one thing that this cheese steak lacks is a good amount of cheese. The spot is tiny, and the service is ok - but they don't have free water and after eating during a heatwave they lost some points from me for making all the drinks so expensive.

Heard about this spot listening to the Morning Roast on 95.7 The Game radio station, people were raving about the cheesesteaks and finally Mae it over. After trying, definitely ranks in the top 2 cheesesteaks I've had in the city. The bread is perfect. Toasted, yet airy, it's one of the best rolls I've had on a cheesesteak, ever. The meat was tasty, mixed with a good amount of cheese, very well done. The only thing that I'd do next time is skip the hot and sweet peppers. The peppers were a little overpowering flavor wise. We also got an order of chicken wings with the hot flavor. Wish they were a bit crispier as it had a very soft and slimey mouthfeel. The fries were cool, added some salt to round em out. The food takes sometime, but that's ok bc the cheesesteak was fresh. Definitely would recommend if you are looking for a tasty cheesesteak. If I lived in the area, I'd be a regular for sure

    Store

Walked in and could tell the man at the front counter was the owner. When I see an owner at his business front working I know the place is going to be great. Food was fresh and good! Vibes were dope.

    Friesssss!

Had an incredible burger here last night. This is a legit San Francisco institution, I got to talk with the owner for a few minutes and he is a really cool guy. Our burgers were fantastic (I got the blue burger which has bacon and some really good blue cheese), I got mine medium well and it was cooked perfectly. The bacon was also hella good. The fries were incredible, kind of like Berkeley institution The Smokehouse but better seasoned and better fried. I recommend this spot to anyone looking for a great burger in San Francisco, will come back to try the fish and chips and the wings and another burger :) Also there is seating for a few people there and we were able to park right outside at like 745pm on a Tuesday which is crazy for sf. 10/10 no notes

In the Lower Haight? In the mood for a burger? Look no further. I always order the no frills cheeseburger, no fries, or the meatless garden burger. The place is one step away from dive, in a good way. I nominate them for legacy business. Support local!

Sweet little spot, a few small tables to dine in if you're not taking out though it seems that's most of their business, especially third party apps. Very nice owner, polite, he and his right hand got down to work on our order in their small but tidy, clean space. Onion rings are **bomb and so is the cheeseburger that was absolutely juicy and delicious. The fish & chips were just okay, frozen fish filets, nothing extra. But the burger and onion rings- for those alone, go! Prices reasonable, accepts credit cards.

Metro Caffe is alright. I got a Philly cheesesteak today to try it during work lunch. It was $12 and $3 for a limonata. It's overpriced. Cheesesteaks are street food. They are good in SF. Got the referral in high school after visiting PHILADELPHIA. San Francisco Philly cheesesteaks are ok.

Boca Cheesesteak and tots - really good but the hot peppers were too much
    Mike B.

Desperate for a non-meat cheesesteak to be delivered for a lunch break I had to work through... I ordered the Boca Cheesesteak, tater tots, and a side of cheese for dipping purposes. Everything was good but I suspect I know how to make it great: Boca Cheesesteak - Ground Boca meatless burger, cheese, onions, hot + sweet peppers. Next time, I'll skip the hot peppers. They were tasty but overwhelmed the rest of the flavor, so eventually I just tasted heat on (really good, fresh) bread. I'd also get extra cheese since there was barely any. Tater Tots - Really good deep fried tots but they did not send the dipping cheese I ordered and paid for. If I had that cheese dip, the tots would have been excellent. So I'll probably order again with those changes and see if it elevates from "good" to "great".

Prices are a bit higher than your average hot dog, but these are hearty, well-built dogs that definitely justify it. I ordered the Hayz, their signature dog, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. If you are looking for an upscale hot dog in San Francisco, this one might take the cake. Great flavor, excellent snap, and very satisfying overall. We also tried the Tramp. Both were solid, with that satisfying bite you want in a good hot dog. The Tramp was tasty, with bacon always being a win, though it leaned a bit spicier than my personal preference. The space itself is small and a little cramped, but that adds to the charm. It feels very new-age San Francisco, blending creativity and a bit of kookiness rather than sticking to traditional East Coast hot dog vibes. There is no seating, but that is not an issue at all since the small park in Hayes Valley is just steps away and makes for a great place to enjoy your food. Overall, a great spot if you are craving something fun, filling, and a little elevated. Definitely worth stopping by, especially if you find yourself wanting a second dinner done right.

The atmosphere is exactly what you want from a place like this as it is lively but not loud, cozy but not cramped, and always buzzing with good energy, from the staff through to most of the patrons on any given night. The menu is a greatest-hits tour of German comfort food. The deviled eggs are a must to start your meal and the wienerschnitzel is my personal go‑to as it is crispy, moist, and so flavorful every time I've had it. The jägerschnitzel is another standout if you are feeling something a little lighter and saucier as it rich and savory in all the right ways, and the sausages are always banging and perfect alongside a big stein of beer. It's the kind of food that feels made for long conversations and slow sipping. What really elevates Suppenküche, though, is the people. The staff are super friendly and clearly know their stuff, always ready with a beer recommendation or a menu suggestion and the patrons tend to match that vibe; if you end up at the bar or sharing a table, which is pretty common if you come with a small group, you're likely to find yourself chatting with someone new before long. It was bustling when we arrived, with options to share a long communal table, sit at high tops, or wait for a private table. I especially loved the heavy wooden material focus throughout the space from the wooden beamed walls and tables. - Pretzel with Obatzda -- my favorite dish of the night; I haven't had an authentic pretzel in years, and while this one was smaller than those in Germany, it had a crisp exterior and soft interior; the obatzda (Bavarian cheese spread) was rich, savory, and the perfect complement - Wienerschnitzel -- classic breaded cutlet served with bratkartoffeln (pan-fried potatoes); nicely crisped without being greasy, and a comforting, savory plate overall - Jägerschnitzel -- available breaded or unbreaded; the champignonsoße (mushroom sauce) added great depth and moisture to the meat; it came with a small portion of käsespätzle, though I did notice the schnitzel itself was noticeably smaller than the Wienerschnitzel - Buttery Lettuce Salad -- simple but surprisingly delicious; fresh greens with a light, clean dressing that balanced the heavier dishes well The interior is cozy and tavern-like, definitely capturing that old-world German pub feel. Overall, the food was solid and a comforting reminder of my heritage. I don't usually comment on scent, but the air inside did carry a slightly musty pub note and aged wood which can get quite stuffy with the lack of steady ventilation and beer wafting through the air. Still nice to see more German representation in the Bay Area dining scene. If you're looking for a rustic Bavarian-style meal in SF, Suppenküche is worth a visit.
