was craving a hot dog and this place had the best reviews nearby! everything was freshly made to order. we got two hot dogs and one bacon hot dog. the hot dogs were good! the onion on the hot dog is grilled onion which i wasn't expecting but it was still yummy. the bacon hot dog was aight but i wouldn't order again. each order came with their own fries, which were okay and i wish i could have opted out to them. overall i love the street side service and will definitely come back next time im craving a hot dog! read more

Stopped here while doing photowalk in Pilsen and reading about its troubles being closed down by the city. Had a simple Chicago dog (Vienna of course) with everything, sport peppers on the side. Owner apologized for the delay because the fries were being cooked (I wasn't in a hurry) and the absence of poppyseed buns (supplier had delivered them - no problem). Hot dog hit the spot and fries were excellent and not excessively salted. Dog and fries, tax and tip included: $6.00! Highly recommended, give these nice people some business! read more

I sent my mom and step-dad here for a burger one day (they wanted an Express Grill type, just not them) and they've come back a couple times since. As with most places like this, fries are included with most things. It's pretty cheap, in my opinion. The chicken tenders comes with 4 decent sized pieces plus fries for $5-6, and it's definitely filling. In fact, the last time I ordered this, they had a smaller tender with the bigger 3 and tossed in some even smaller ones, I assume to make up for it? That was cool of them, definitely noticed and appreciated! I think they deliver through some app, we pick it up since it's close. Call ahead if you remember, otherwise you're probably looking at a 10-20 min wait, depending on how busy they are. Always friendly though! read more

Awesome place!! Looked a little sketchy first time I walked in- kinda a hole in the wall place, but after tasting the food I knew I'd be back soon! I had a cheeseburger with everything and a pizza puff. Saw the lady making it in front of me since the grill is up front. The lady was very nice as she tried to make conversation, the conversation was pleasurable (sometimes I just wanna get my food and get out). Cheeseburger was about $5 and some change (with fries) plus the pizza puff about $3 I paid less than $10 for VERY tasty food. Needless to say I could not finish all the food, ate about half the burger and half the puff and most of the fries which are also tasty and freshly made. I love Memo's burgers and makes me wonder why I sometimes pay so much for fancy burgers at other burger joints that sometimes aren't even as tasty as Memos'. Currently back for a second time! I've eaten many hot dogs in Chicago and hands down, this is the best in town! Their Polish dog is how it should be made - topped with grilled onions, relish, sport peppers, pickle, mustard and minimal tomato. I love their Chili dog - the included sport peppers and pickle eliminate the need for ketchup. Every hot dog is served with a side of French fries which are crispy instead of greasy. Service is excellent and parking is difficult so take the train or bus. read more

Was very excited to use Yelp to find a place on a Sunday which was reviewed well for tasty hot dogs, burgers, gyros and other sandwiches. Having just been to another restaurant on 18th St for dinner the night prior, a friend of mine and I were excited for a return trip. We got 2 hot dogs (1 regular, 1 bacon cheese), a double cheeseburger and a grilled chicken pita - all but the pita automatically come with fries, which seemed like a bonus! None of the food really had any taste, including the fries. The Vienna hotdogs were tasteless, which was rather surprising. Yes, the toppings had some flavor; but, you could not taste the hotdog. The grilled chicken was frozen slices with grill marks on it, which was heated with some type of oil and steam. The pita was heated on the flat top grill with oil taken from the deep-fryer with a big spatula. After eating, the taste which was left in our mouths was that of oil or grease, which even drinking a beer afterwards did not remedy. The lady who prepared our food was very kind and efficient, but she did make one mistake and put the bacon on the double cheeseburger vs the (no bacon) cheese dog. Also, for those reviewers ranting and raving about a gyros burger or a gyro, there is no vertical broiler/rotisserie to cook my beloved "meat cone", or I would have ordered a gyro. If my chicken was frozen slices, my guess is so is the gyro meat. Overall, disappointed that Memo's did not live up to the reviews and is not on the list for a return visit. read more

This place is fantastic, a real getaway from the over crowded and loud places in the area. Its a nice medium sized place with great food for a cheap price The food is more than worth the price, The hot dogs are real and not imitations along with the beef patty burgers. Maxwells skips out on the food and often tastes like trash to be fair when they use imitation meats for 5 bucks a piece but you can really fill up here under 5 bucks with better tasting food. The staff is very nice and social with anything you want to converse about really, They have some young guys working there too now which is cool, and they are pretty likeable as well. Its best to get there early morning or towards the night because the place is swarmed during noon. I wouldnt even be mad I guess many others love this place as much as I do now. I've been passing this joint like I'm Bob Marley, but only recently decided to stop in & try 'em out. And I'm kinda hooked. They stand out as this bright yellow building varnished with Vienna Beef logos on a street chock full of cafes, Latin cuisine, and hipster hideouts. Their menu is pretty extensive and laden of heart attack inducing options. My go-to has been the double gyro-cheeseburger. But they also make a mean Polish. This isn't some fancy "our beef is never frozen" place. Their beef is more frozen than that guy in the meat-truck in Goodfellas. But I don't care. Dem shits is good. Certainly not a place that's going to bring tourism to Pilsen, but for the locals, a good option when you want some simplified, non-Mexican fare. read more

If you order cheese fries you will receive a glob of an unknown yellow substance for cheese. The burgers patties are thin but are beef. I ordered the double cheeseburger on french bread which comes with fries and it was very filling. Soda selection is plentiful with various canned ice teas. A few table are avaiable if you want to eat food their. The cook after all these years has not picked up his speed and the reason why is he is the owner. Street parking is metered and the meter maids stay on between 1400-1600 on 18th st. all day So if you want to spend under 8$ on a quick lunch MEMOS will fit your budget. OMG!! This place is so delicious, I had to try an authentic Chicago hot dog before I left the area, and I waited patiently and was it worth it!!!! If I had an Emoji with Homer from The Simpson's when he thinks of donuts!! It would be replaced by Memos....I mean DRULL!!! Memos was so much better than any hot dog I've ever had before. I love this place because of the people that work there. The food at this joint is your typical fried fast food. I always get the mozzarella sticks and cheese burger. I tried the double cheeseburger on French bread and I wish I would of loved it as much as the other reviews. It was sloppy and gross and I don't see how the French breath enhanced the burger flavor. It's huge so if you don't care much about how your food taste this is the burger for you. I'm going to try the Italian beef next time. read more
