All the technicians are pretentious ego fuelled discord mods who seem to believe they have a unique or special talent by fixing PC's. I got my pc built from this shop and it is good but there is also so many things wrong with it too. Like there is no wi-fi (i have to make sure the internet modem is right next to it for the Ethernet cord to reach) and there is no Bluetooth either and it's kind of slow for what i got it built for (works better than my last pc but still)... i would've been really nice to know this before i paid all that money for it. It has honestly been a complete nightmare having to always use wired internet, although it is more stable it's also so annoying to make sure the modem is next ot the tower. then the bluetooth problem, i can't even use my wireless earbuds so i can't use them and i'm not gonna buy a second pairjust for the pc. i also couldn't get warranty ust because this pc was way more expensive than i was told on the phone so i ran out of money to get it. maybe try being honest about how much it costs? now let's talk about their customer service, it seems so bad now. i've called and the people i talked to just seem rude and not all that knowledgeable. When my sibling called about a hard drive she was given such rudeness, the guy on the phone literally told her "DO NOT DO THAT! DO NOT PULL IT OUT LIKE THAT!" like yeah, they know that? it's not like everyone in the world is a computer person or knows and understands not to just pull out hard drives/usbs out before disconnecting it. Even so, don't yell at my sibling and make them cry (or anyone at all) because that is just unacceptable and made me never shop here again. We didn't appreciate that and now my sibling is too scared to call places to ask questions. hank you for that terrible service, memory express. You loss some valued customers. I'd like to provide feedback about Morissau who was manning the repair/service counter. Yesterday I bought two Kingston usb drives. Yesterday I copied 90gb to the 128gb drive, this morning, I tried to use it and it stopped responding in Windows. I was going to return it right then, but I wanted to erase it before doing so. I had to connect it to my Linux machine to get it to show up. I was able to format it, but then the device froze and wouldn't respond. I didn't have confidence in these devices anymore. I decided to return them. Today at approximately 4 PM on Sunday the 17th of July, I went into the Winnipeg location of Memory Express, I spoke to Morissau, I attempted to return the 2 USB drives. Morissau proceeded to begin an escalating back and forth where he attempted to talk down at me about how I opened the packaging. If Morissau has ever opened the packaging for a USB drive before, he would understand that the packaging is designed in such a way that you cannot get the drive out without destroying it. If you wish to have those kind of restrictions, you should sell products in packaging that doesn't require destructive means to open them. He then mentioned that it would be hard to resell this to another client in this condition. I told him that this device is faulty and should go back to the manufacturer, and shouldn't be resold. I find the fact that you would resell faulty return merchandise to be disconcerting. I remember Memory Express of 10 years ago, the memories I have of your company are such that I forgot my umbrella there once, and one of your reps found me on the street and returned it to me. The conversation with Morissau, escalated to the point that i had to tell him off for talking down to me, he then threatened to not return the product. Afterwards I had to inform him that this was my good faith attempt to return the product, and that if he did not do so, I would file a credit card chargeback. I was going to turn around and purchase another drive to use, but instead I just left after I got my refund. You really need to provide training to Morissau in how to not escalate interactions with clients. What happened to memory express from 10 years ago? You need only look at my file to see I've purchased a lot of things from you over the years. Is it really valuable to provide this kind of negative experience to someone who is likely to purchase your products in the future? It's not like I can't line Bezos'/Canada Computers'/Newegg's/etc pockets instead. read more

Most unhelpful staff I've ever dealt with. I spent an hour trying to pay with my card online and called four separate times and they told me they couldn't take a visa and wouldn't let me pay with a different card. I spoke to three separate employees including the manager and the best they could do is tell me they couldn't help me. Discovered I didn't so went back today (May 23, 2017) and asked if they had half-a dozen screws. They wanted $35! Really? This was their second chance. My new favourite place to buy computer parts and electronics. They price match to any Canadian retailer, online or brick and mortar. Just show them a web page with lower price and they will match it. I've bought small items from them here and there before, but only after I've built my latest computer that I really stared to like them. Price match alone saved me 400-700 bucks compared to Future Shop. Staff was attentive, polite, helpful and knowledgeable. They've updated BIOS on my new motherboard to latest version without me asking. Then printed and organized all my mail in rebate forms for me. The build itself was excellent: cables accurately put out of the way, free space optimized for optimal airflow, etc, the things I would do if I was putting it together myself. Small things, but nice and unexpected. The store itself is clean and well organized, feels more like Best Buy then warehouse-like Computer Boulevard (CBiT) or Computer Avenue. I purchased a new laptop and with it I bought additional warranty in house called IPR. According to they're website with IPR if you have a issues they replace your product with a brand new one. Well, about a month after I spent $1600 in there store my hard drive failed. I took the laptop in for replacement. However, I did not receive any replacement. Instead they replaced the Hard drive with a different, slower hard drive. And this wasn't done quickly either. After a week of waiting I called them to see if it was ready, and it was. But they never called me to tell me so. The worst part, this MSi gaming laptop came pre-loaded with lots of nice programs. A color setting thing, a system tachometer of sorts, keyboard lightin program, audio stuff, free game cast subscriptions, and a matrix display thing. When I got the computer back, all of this stuff was gone. Furthermore, the computer dose not run the way it used to. Gaming before on this thing was good. But now the keyboard won't accept to many key strokes at once, you can't use the trackpad if your touching any key on the keyboard. Not to mention games crashing quite often. Overall I'm very disappointed with my purchase, I was happy, until, the hard drive crashed, and instead of giving me a new product like their website states they do, they just kinda fix it and leave the rest to you. read more

Can't be trusted to honor their word. I've been building systems for over 25 years and recently, I was asked by a friend to build him a gaming system and I decided to source the parts from Memory Express locally instead of buying online for cheaper. When it came to selecting a video card, they advised that they had none in the building that day, even in the "back", but assured that they would be able to get one for him. (They usually keep some in the back for people buying complete systems, and not just video cards.) They said to come back in the next few days or the following week and they would get one for him....well, after several times going there, they refuse to give him one of the ones they keep in the back, quoting "supply issues"...I 100% understand that there are global supply issues, but they do have some in the back that they keep for people buying complete systems...its true, they are very limited, but they have them. My recommendation is, if you must buy from Memory Express, don't buy and leave with the rest of the parts until "find" a video card for you. Its your only leverage.... I'll be shopping elsewhere now. While others quoted thousands of dollars but couldn't retrieve anything, this highly professional, courteous, and knowlegable team calmed my fears and continually kept me in the loop while they worked on my hard drive. They will go out of their way to help you no matter how big or small the question and never make you feel dumb for not knowing the ins and outs of the technology you want. My favorite service is the price matching. Memory Express will price match any price from any Canadian retailer for the same unit. Had chosen MemX to build my new PC at and what would have cost me almost $1500 before tax came to just over $1000 after tax thanks to their price matching. I will never shop anywhere else! read more

I read the previous reviews which led me to go there. My house was broken into and amongst the stolen items was my computer, but the thieves left behind my external hard drive. However first they smashed it up so I couldn't use it to retrieve anything from it. So I took it down to Memory Express today and was extremely pleased with the very friendly staff. I didn't feel hurried or rushed, they listened to my problem and very quickly had me leaving with all of my data intact. They were sympathetic and kind as well as professional and thorough. Staff seems knowledgeable and prices are good - BUT and its a big BUT You only have 7 days to return something AND their 30 exchange is only on products they deem "defective". They will also will want to keep the product for a few days to test it to see if it is "defective". So if you just find out that it works poorly or doesn't suit your needs you out of luck after 7 days. To me that likely a deal breaker. read more

Great place to go for parts and accessories. Most of the staff are great. I do recommend going there for anything and everything computer related. That being said, I can't give this location 5 stars because they do have this one ultra creepy guy working there who honestly chases customers away with his "helpfullness". I just want to go in and grab stuff. If I need help, it'll be obvious, or I'll ask. Sure, if a sales guy approaches and asks if I need anything, it's no biggie. But this dude... Wow... His vibe is so uncomfortably creepy it just makes you want to leave. The worst part is, he will still approach you even if he sees you tell another guy you're fine and don't require assistance. Like, I get it. He's a keener. But his clingy creepiness is way too much. Needs to dial it back a bit. Instead of browsing and making a few hundred $$$ in impulse purchases like I'd normally do, I just go straight to the sales counter to grab one item and gtfo of there so he doesn't slither up to me anymore. They've probably lost $2000 out of sales to me because of Slithery McCreepypants alone. Keep in mind, I'm a guy. So it's not like he's some neckbeard who's attempting to pick up chicks.
