Recently I was looking for an SD card for my camera and after having no luck finding what i needed at Walmart, Best Buy or Future Shop. I was looking for a 16 GB that wasnt going to cost me the earth. Their location was great, just off Macleod with tons of parking out front. Upon walking in, I realized this place was not for the uninitiated, this is a serious tech place with everything you could think of or need. The store was buzzing with people. The prices were excellent, my sd card cost me literally half of what it would have cost at Best Buy ( I did my research). Best of all, the staff that looked after me were friendly, helpful and a wealth of knowledge and information. If I ever need anything in the future, i will trust that the staff there will be able to help me for anything I need. Thanks!

I have purchased many pc builds from memx over the years but recently they have become super greasy. I bought a 1600$ MSI laptop for wifeys birthday 5 months ago and the ac adapter shorted out and stopped working. Took it in there for the warranty and 2 of their associates, my wife and I looked over the adapter and determined that the adapter box was shorted and that was covered. Two days later we get a call saying that the cord is cut and therefor the warranty doesn't cover physical damage... They said that the Velcro strap was covering up the damage but i find that hard to believe as the strap on the MSI leopard G63 8RD moves freely while handling the cord and the damage DEFINITELY wasn't there when we initially inspected and left it. I STRONGLY SUSPECT they cut my cord as to save some money honoring their warranty. I personally trust financially stable companies like amazon and newegg to cover their warranties with honor and will be purchasing all future PC builds and electronics from them. read more

Ordered Gaming keyboard online with Memory Express, for son's Christmas gift. Went to pick it up and was informed systems with quantities available are not accurate. Said I would wait for the next order in about a week. January 12, 2013 I called and was told it was back ordered and may never come in. Re-selected. The re-select has mal-functioned twice. I was in to this store today and told by the manager that I am lucky I bought the warranty, so that I can keep exchanging this product for the next three years , as it keeps not working. "Lucky?" I believe it is Memory Express that is "Lucky" they got my money this time! Because this surely will never happen again. read more

Their shipping price is much higher than other online competitors, but their sales are also very good. My order was delayed due to Christmas business, but they responded to my complaint almost instantly, and waived the shipping cost. A 4 letter online part competitor had terrible service, so this was a great relief. I would use them again, but cheaper shipping costs would help them be more competitive since pricematching is becoming the industry standard. read more

Memory Express is a Good Place to Shop for almost Anything, I though am not Impressed as due to the fact, is I had an Issue with my Monitor Screen Fluctuating, as the Screen went wild, I had to Reboot my Computer to Clear the Screen, I took the Monitor in to the Winnipeg Store, as it was under Warranty, plus I bought the Ext. Warranty, found out it was not the Monitor after talking to an IT Person, where I worked, that it could be and was the Video Card, I had bought the Video Card at Memory Express, and it also was under warranty, so rather then wait to have them check it out, I bought another one, Works Great no Issues, but as for getting my Money Refunded for the other one, they are telling me that there is nothing wrong with it, so I am out $50 dollars plus the Ext Warranty that I bought, and now I am being told that it could be my Computer by the Rep at Memory Express, so I am not impressed with the Repair Service, and will reconsider shopping there, or Buying Ext. Warranty , or will shop at another Store, read more

I have shopped at memory express for years and have even recommended them to others. Full disclosure: I have purchased my two most recent builds there. Recently I brought a computer in for repairs (couldn't get the sound card to work) and they told me they couldn't work on the system until I removed the sound card (which I bought from them). I asked if they could remove it, and for liability reasons they would not. OK. I asked to borrow a screw driver so I could remove the card, and the answer was No. they suggested I go to the parking lot and remove the sound card then bring it back, but first I needed to find a screw driver, would they lend me one? NO. They informed me that if I left the system with them it would take longer than seven days to repair, so they would not honour an exchange on the sound card if necessary. Customer service is a lost art. I will remove and return the sound card and then choose to spend my money somewhere else. I understand that the people they hire are probably paid at or just above minimum wage and they are just following policy, so no offense to them, but the supervisors should know better. I will not spend my money at a place that does not respect me as a customer. read more

Over 2 weeks ago, I ordered a laptop through the online store). I paid by Visa and all was well. Then I get an email asking for copies of driver's license and credit card, and a filled credit authorization form. This was already weird, as any other online store just asks for credit card info and that's it. Especially the form, since Visa is the one authorizing the credit. But still, fine, I do it. Then I get another (curt) email, asking for my filled form (which had already been sent). Fine, I RE-attach and send it. No news. After a week, I call in : "Oh, credit department says signatures don't match!". What? First of all, there's a problem with the order and nobody cares to notify me? Then some b******* (sorry about the language) about signatures? I sent driver's license and credit card, which both have signatures on them. If these were stolen, I could have easily replicated a perfect signature. But ok, I refill the form, being careful about signing exactly the same way the 2nd time. Even though its common knowledge that even the same person never signs identically every time. And then I still get no news. After another week, I call again. They tell me it's being reviewed by credit department. I answer that I will call again later. That was the end of last week. Today I call again, sales rep asks if I have received her email. I say no, she sends THE EXACT SAME EMAIL from 2 weeks ago, asking for driver's license, etc. I call back, she says she will get an answer from credit department. About 10 min later, I receive an email notifying my that my order was declined because it failed verification! I call back, ask to speak to the manager, and he, although politely, basically says he doesn't give a s***. read more

Memory express says they have an uber Price guarantee, until you actually find something that is substantially cheaper. I found a vid card: GeForce GTX 780 OC 3GB PCI-E Rev. 2.0 w/ Dual DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort - Memory express was selling it for 619.00 while on newegg.ca I spotted it for 519.00 A whopping 100.00 dollars difference. It was the last card Memory express had. The first night I called I had never used the uber price guarantee, so I wasn't sure how it worked. But on the phone it said "ask about our uber price guarantee." And the website is always advertising it. So I thought no big deal. I mentioned the card and then the uber price guarantee. The customer service rep turned glacial. He put me on hold, and a moment later I was talking with another guy (management I assume) he said " I'll have to check with my purchaser on that one." I' said, well what's to check the card is in my checkout account for 519. 00 but I thought you were supposed to match, so I'm holding off. He blew me off and just kept repeating about "checking with his purchaser." I said - what does that even mean? He then says, "the card is not advertised." I was completely blow away at this point. I said well go to newegg.ca type in geforce gtx 780 and it's the third card from the top of the list, it has 529 with a line though it, because it's actually 519.00 - then he cycled back to the purchaser line again. The long and short of it was he was having no part of it. So I gave up and decided to actually read memory express's price guarantee. It really did seem straight forward except that they would have had to drop an additional 25.00 dollars off the price. I was really shocked and motivated the next day when I called. The second time I called it was Kurt, I could tell it was the same guy as yesterday (management). So again I inquired about the card. He was stone cold and this time said, "we have to verify it's in stock with the purchaser." I guess this is what he meant by: "I have to check with the purchaser." Anyway I left it alone that day and called back on the third day today, in fact Jan 11, 2014. Today however I called newegg first to make sure the card was in, at the advertised price. They said yes it's in stock, and indeed, 519 is the price of the card. I thought good, bases are covered. So when I called memory express I was a little more hopeful, and indeed the sales associate who answered was really chipper, and I mentioned the card, newegg.ca and the uber price guarantee and this time the sales associate seemed as pumped as I was, saying I was in for saving a substantial amount of money and that they really enjoyed matching prices. He said, give me a sec to see if the card is still in, upon his return to the phone - guess what, "my manager says we can't do this deal because the price isn't advertised." Whaaaa.... right back where I started from 3 days ago. I couldn't even speak. He says, "but if you want to come in and buy a 780 we have lots of cards." I really was dumbfounded. I literally could not speak. I've been shopping at memory express for 17 years. I've bought thousands and thousands of dollars worth of tech equipment. I really couldn't believe what I was hearing. The company that I have poured my business into has zero integrity. Zero. So, today is my last day. And anyone I ever meet from this day forward, I'll be sure to remind them that they have lost the little store ethics and honesty that attracted me to them in the first place. Back when they sold ram on Macleod Trail. "No," I eventually said to the guy, I'm not going to buy a video card from your store and hung up. read more

A couple of weeks later, the printer stopped working entirely. I then spent over an hour on a Zoom troubleshooting session with him, where I was told the issue was with HP and that I needed to contact them because my computer was not recognizing the printer. Unsatisfied with that answer, I hired another technician. Within approximately 20 minutes, he resolved the printer issue and got everything working properly. He charged $45. During this process, it was also discovered that security software installed on my computer was generating frequent pop-ups and that a subsequent scan identified suspicious activity that required attention. When I raised my concerns, I was offered only a partial refund. While I accepted the refund to close the matter, I remain disappointed with the value received for the amount charged and with how the situation was handled. Customers deserve accurate troubleshooting, fair pricing, and confidence that the work performed has genuinely resolved the issue. Unfortunately, that was not my experience.

They might be technically competent, I can't frankly tell, but they are just jerks to deal with. Very nice guys when you are buying though, but that is what they really wanted right? I have been a customer of Memory Express for over 25 years and I'll never purchase anything from them again. I went into purchase a $299 elgato key light and a NorthBayou Monitor Arm. As under there price protection that will match and beat the price by 10% the monitor arm on amazon was $59.99 which they were selling it for $89.99. As the manager at Memory Express "Bald Guy" said Ohh no we can't match that it is a reseller on amazon. Did not offer to lower there price by one penny. So I asked the manager so I can get both products online, are tell me that I should purchase these online? He said Yes. And so I left. This shocked me and didn't wanted to do anything for my business. K here is my point. I want shop locally to do my part at the time that every local business needs a little help and trust me I'm always willing to spend a bit extra because as a retail store has extra expenses but $30 more and not moving at all on the price where this is clearly priced incorretly this was insulting and more importantly the manager not doing or offering anything to keep a customer? I hate to part ways seeing that for over 25 years I enjoyed purchasing products from Memory Express, but when I'm told to shop somewhere else I guess I'll do as instructed. Update: a person did contact me from Memory Express to try to resolve the issue. As I did what I was told I already purchased the products that I needed from somewhere else. As I told them when your manager tells a customer to go shop somewhere else, there is nothing to fix other than find a new manager. By the looks of the other reviews I'm not the only one that has had problems at Memory Express in NE Calgary, Alberta. I had a laptop hard drive that was purchased from Memory Express. The drive was only about 4 - 5 months old at best and it was close to failure. The drive was whining very loudly and vibrating in the laptop and when tested came back with read errors on the drive. The drive was very close to its last days. I even spoke to Western Digital and their own tech agreed with me. All I wanted to do was swap the drive out with a different drive I brought the drive into Memory Express and said that I already ran a smart test on the drive and that it came back with errors but the store was more than willing to do their own testing to verify all of this. The manager refused didn't do any testing and refused to exchange the drive. Then when you ask for the head office phone number because I wanted to speak to some one there I get told "we don't have a phone number for head office for customers" So they have a phone number for their head office but refused to give it to a customer who wanted to speak to some one at their head office about this issue. Absolutely horrible store do not deal with these crooks! Worst customer service ever! I understand that it is possible for a hard drive to fail out of the box and I am tech myself but the store refusing to do a swap out of the drive when it was purchased there and they have the receipt on their system and had a printed copy of the receipt so not exchanging it is just unacceptable! Absolutely horrible company and horrible customer service. read more

[UPDATE - Changed from 1 star to 4 stars] Store Manager Ryan reached out to me directly after I filed a formal complaint about this transaction. He completely owned up to the mistake, admitted that the staff should have been transparent about supplying an aftermarket brand instead of an OEM part, and apologized for the oversight. He immediately ordered a brand new, genuine OEM MSI (Chicony) adapter for me at no extra charge, which I have now received. While the initial experience with the parts department was frustrating and felt deceptive, the management's response was fast, professional, and exactly how customer service should be handled. I am satisfied with the final resolution, but I still advise customers to double-check the brand of the parts they receive at the counter. [Original Review] Bait and Switch: Charged for OEM MSI part, given a cheap aftermarket knockoff. I ordered a replacement power adapter for my MSI Cyborg 15. The internal notes on my receipt clearly stated: "Sent an email to MSI to order the adapter." Based on this, I paid $94.49 expecting a genuine MSI/OEM part. Instead, I was handed a cheap, third-party aftermarket brand called "DONGERDI" (which retails for around $30 online). MSI does not manufacture or supply DONGERDI adapters. I was charged a premium OEM price for a budget knockoff, under the false pretense that it was ordered directly from MSI. The aftermarket adapter ran extremely hot and had coil whine. Very disappointing initial experience with the parts department. read more

I would have loved to give this place 5 stars and the sales rep I dealt with definitely deserves 5 stars. However the manger is another story ........... right after purchasing 1500$ worth of computer parts, I looked outside to see a slush storm brewing. I choose to pull up right in front to quickly load my parts, so they wouldn't get wet. After exiting my car I was greeted by a laughing manger puffing on a cigarette 3 m from the doors. "You cant park like that" the manger aggressively stated; "oh I'm just loading my computer quickly so it doesn't get wet" I replied; "you CAN'T PARK LIKE THAT, I would box you in so you couldn't leave" the manger chuckled (so your a dick? congrats). At this point the sales rep arrived at the doors with my parts which could have been loaded in 2 seconds, but the still demanding manger was consistent that I re-position my car ((as to not take a few stalls, which i could understand if the parking lot was crazy(there was 1 other car in the front rows and roughly 10 empty spots)). I hope Memory-Express considers telling this guy to go back to his failed police officer career. Memory Express is by far the best store in Calgary to buy parts for any PC or to get them repaired or taken care of. I shall never look at another store for computer parts as long as they are around. The staff are incredibly helpful and knowledgeable about computers and technology. If you go into the store wanting a new PC for say gaming, and have no idea of the parts on the market or what is good or bad, they will help you in the right direction and give you the best bang for your buck. I had purchased a bunch of PC parts from there and brought them home to install myself, for the first time. I think I had messed up and fried something or hooked it up wrong, however when I went to the store they had helped me out ALLOT. They gave me all new parts that day to make sure the problem was not the hardware. Can you say any other store would just give you a whole new PC off the bat without testing all the parts first or investigating to see what you may have done? As I said before, I shall never shop at another location for PC parts. This is a great company A CANADIAN company, support them and see how amazing they can make the shopping experience. This company does not care about the customer AT ALL... and the employees are usually / always arrogant and act like their shit dont stink... not sure why this is... I am extremlley disatsifed with Memory Express. I was recomemneded by my mother to bring my computer here when it wasn't working. Turns out the hard drive was on the fritz. So I ended buying a new computer. Turned out after 6 visits over 5 days to the store, not only did they install the wrong motherboard, not reactivate the windows key after the new board was replaced, but sold me a computer they said would WORK for what I needed it for and it DID NOT, I had to buy a video card also. For the amount of back and forth and time spent trying to "figure" out why the computer wasn't working the way I wanted it to, I could have went to Best Buy and got an even BETTER computer for cheaper and only two trips to the store! The computer is working fine now, but after my warranty runs out I will NEVER come here again. read more

absolute horror show!!!!!!!! do not ever get a computer built by these con men! i wasted my money on a pc which crashes at the most random of times. if there was a way to give negative stars - i would. i use this thing for work and it just told me it had to shut down because windows encountered an error and it took forever for it "fix the problem" i honestly thought it was dead! how the hell am i supposed to work for a living off this shoddy computer they just threw together. because i work in media - i spent nearly $5000 on this bloody thing! for that kind of money i expect something that will at least do what it is god damned supposed to do! read more

Went in to purchase a Graphics Card and was told I was not allowed to. Is memory express a computer parts store a fully built PC retail store? Does your management thinks its a good decision to refuse a customer willing to pay 700 dollars for an item? ill answer it for you: NO. You're wrong, its bad business policy, and youve pissed off someone whose spent literally 10 Gs in your store. I will never shop here again and I will never reccommend you to another living soul. Had purchased a GTX 980 about 5 months ago for a new PC build and a few days ago it stopped working completely. The staff was very happy to guide me through the RMA process and even sent it for me. I have always had great experiences with this store and its a really nice convenience to have local access to so much great tech. read more

Don't order from them. They charged my card, told me they couldn't charge my card and my order was cancelled, and when I emailed back when the proof of the charge, they just ignored my emails. They stole hundreds of dollar from me that way and are just ignoring me. Avoid at all costs. read more
