I have been shopping at Memory Express for years and have never been disappointed. The staff are great and knowledgeable and the techs are quick and thorough. I bought the MSI MAG PANO 100L PZ black case and I am in love with it. I needed more space to fit my new RAM and Graphics card as well as the existing fans and this case does not disappoint! I love3 how spacious it is, and that I can see all of the RGB on my components. It is easy to get in to for cleaning and dusting and should I chose to expand my system, I won't need another case. I initially chose this case for the looks online, but now that I have it, I am impressed with the overall aesthetics. read more

I went to memory express at the Dalhousie NW Location in Calgary on August 12 ,2024 as I had some concerns with messages I was receiving from Outlook & Microsoft.I went to the service desk.The customer service rep was Luke McMath and I was so very grateful he went over a few things with me and explained to me what the messages meant,as I was concerned I was going to loose my hotmail email & thought it was not insynched etc . I took my laptop which didn't turn on to the Calgary SE store and they told me it takes 4 to 6 business days to get back to me with the diagnosis results and next step decisions. I called them after 8 business days for follow up and I was told that the Mainboard had a visual damage and it's not repairable cost effectively sine it costs more than $1000 to replace the MB. I took the laptop and took it home. Opened it to take the SSD card for data transfer to my new computer but surprisingly realized that the SSD card was not there. Called the shop, they checked the security cameras and told me that it was left on the shelves and they forgot to replace it before returning the laptop. They didn't seem apologetic and I wasn't convinced that things just happened unintentionally. I had to make a third trip to the store and get my SSD card back. They didn't even try to compensate for their mistake. read more

took my computer to Memory Express for fixing an issue with my computer not charging. At first Memory Express said it was a power cord issue then they analysed it and said it was motherboard. they told me to take it to Pro-data but they did not fix the issue either. charged $260 but nothing changed. They tested said it was fine. but when I took it home same problem. previously, M.E. ordered a power cord but when it arrived, I tried it and it was not the case at all. My computer broke down so I had to buy a new one. I spoke to someone over the phone since I was not in town but was headed home to Calgary in a few days and needed to get one right away. I was also trying to avoid B.C PST. I guess that was a bad move. MSI WS76 11UK-448CA w/ Core™ i9-11900H, 32GB I cost over 4,000 and I was replacing an ASUS rog that was 2,000. They claimed it was the closest to what I had. The MSI is Garbage. I had to replace the fans after two years. I called them to see if they could do it and they could not be more disinterested. They said they would see if they could find the parts and call me back for a quote. They never did. I called in-house computer Repair Company and a tech came over to my location do the replacement. The fans were so completely fried the tech could not believe it. He also if I spilt anything in it. No. We also notice little pieces were out of place or seemingly moved or off. Bought a Core i7-12700KF Processor, 3.6GHz w/ 12 (8P + 4E) Cores / 20 Threads (MX00119044 | 735858498982) for $479.99 (plus shipping). Bought as brand new, unopened. They called me to tell me they wanted to open it to re-seat the CPU in the package. I requested an Opened Box discount which was refused, instead they were going to delay shipping a week to get a replacement from a different location. Instead they shipped it four hours later so it has been bouncing around in the package from Calgary to Halifax. Customer service was rude and refused to address it, replying to my email with a cookie cutter RMA response template, expecting me to provide a box to ship it in. So be warned, if you're buying components, there's a good chance they have bounced from one end of the country to the other, back again, and then shipped to you for full price. read more

Sure they have fancy PC products all lined up for you to buy when you walk in the door. But buyer beware! Their return policy is next to none. If you purchase a defective product from them they make it very hard for you to exchange or return. Only way they take returns is if you haven't opened it. If defective, they pressure you into taking it to the manufacturer. If you opt for them then they test it themselves then maybe send it to the manufacturer to have a look at it. After all this they won't give you updates or give you an ETA for when you'll get your product back. All this means is wasted time for the consumer. You could be without that monitor, graphic cards for weeks on end! Yet you can go to BestBuy & return a product with no questions asked. I've spent a bit of $ with these guys in the past but no more! Recently I was looking for an SD card for my camera and after having no luck finding what i needed at Walmart, Best Buy or Future Shop. I was looking for a 16 GB that wasnt going to cost me the earth. Their location was great, just off Macleod with tons of parking out front. Upon walking in, I realized this place was not for the uninitiated, this is a serious tech place with everything you could think of or need. The store was buzzing with people. The prices were excellent, my sd card cost me literally half of what it would have cost at Best Buy ( I did my research). Best of all, the staff that looked after me were friendly, helpful and a wealth of knowledge and information. The selection at Memory Express is great, and can certainly be cheaper than purchasing on-line when you consider adding in the cost of shipping. And now that they've added a price-match policy, even against on-line competitors, it makes Memory Express a more enticing choice for purchasing computer parts locally. However, I had a real painful experience in getting someone from this location to price match a sound card from NCIX. Even with a print out and verification of price and stock from the cashier's computer screen, they still had to call in the manager to verify (which is standard policy, I know, but then the manager went through the whole process from the beginning with me that the cashier just did, wasting all of our time), and it was only with great reluctance that they gave me the price match. The whole process took about 11 minutes, although luckily the store was empty at that time of day. My price match experience wasn't the same as I've had at a Best Buy or Future Shop, or even a Staples, where it's usually in and out in under a couple of minutes. I usually buy a lot of PC equipment either in big orders or in frequent smaller orders, and you can usually find the vast majority of what Memory Express carries cheaper on-line elsewhere. If future (and frequent) price matching at this location will be similar to the one I experienced in the past, then I'd much rather take my chances on-line as I don't want to my price-matching experience to have to feel like "haggling". Still though, if you need something quickly and they have it in stock, Memory Express is one of the better computer stores in town to check out. But if you're going in for a price match, you may need to prepare yourself mentally depending on who you get at the store to service you. read more

First off, I recently bought basically a full build from them including a 1440p monitor. The RMA I requested because of a few dead pixels would have left me stranded without a monitor for a month or so in total between the shipping it back and forth. I offered to go the Corsair RMA route that I have recently completed with Corsair for my keyboard (they make you buy the product again temporarily but they send you out your new product first, instead of having to wait for them to receive the faulty one and then send you one. After receiving your faulty one they reimburse your 2nd monitor purchase. This way you aren't without your purchase for a specific amount of time) but they wouldn't even agree to that. Corsair even offered to pay the shipping and handling fees and I've read reviews where people said these guys would charge them repacking fees and all that too so I decided to just keep the faulty monitor as the dead pixels aren't super noticeable unless you look for them. They were willing to replace the monitor though, just not the way I needed it done. And second, let's just say they false advertise that price protection shit they boast about on their front page. I messaged them and requested a price beat/protection or whatever the hell they call it where you get money back if you find a cheaper place to buy the product within 15 days after your purchase and let me tell you how I found a nice EVGA PSU for 40 bucks off and I guess that was too much of my nearly $2000 Canadian that I've spent at their store to give back to me after I was just telling my buddies how their site was good for price matching with some sketchy looking sites like Vugoo. Just for the record, I was under my 15 day limit by 3 days when messaging them about the request on the PSU. Their email response team didn't get back to me until 4-5 days later. AS SOON AS THE SALE ENDED MIND YOU! It's like they were waiting for it to end to email me back to tell me it isn't available anymore . I know this because I was searching up the products I purchased checking to see if they were qualified for "price beats" daily. Kind of sus not gonna lie lol... All in all I'm happy I actually received my products, and that the majority of them actually work. +1 to you guys for price matching with Vugoo though, a lot less sketchy than dealing with their basic looking website. read more

Bought an inexpensive Video card to day (4pm) MSI 715? Needed one with a dvi plug. Sales kid sold me this one. Back home.. My DVI plug would not insert.. Great!! Back to the shop (7pm) was told the card did not have the 'right' DVI plug in.. Geez.. Why Now?? Asked for refund as the card didn't serve its' purchased for purpose. NO..refund.. allegedly trying to insert the 'wrong type of DVI plug / somehow damaged the thing.. News to me,, as I never actually inserted it and I can't see any damage whatsoever.. Wouldn't honour their own price match guarantee. Ordered a Lenovo laptop, 2 days later it went on clearance from Lenovo Canada direct for 300.00 less. Cited they were not a Canadian reseller. Well, the sale was during a Canadian holiday, in Canadian Pricing. We ultimately had to return the laptop as they refused to honour their price match - and to add injury to insult informed us we'd have to pay shipping back to them. Luckily we had never yet accepted the shipment and refused delivery. Lo and behold, after ordering it from Lenovo Canada it shipped from within Canada (what a surprise). Whether or not the parent company may reside outside of Canada, if I am paying in canadian, and its shipping from within Canada it should be considered a Canadian etailer. read more

A seemingly endless supply of staff still somehow results in excruciating wait times. When I was finally helped, the guy had no clue where the item was, even though their computers said it was in stock. They also had no FireWire external hard drives. I can see limiting to a few models, but none? Pretty sad, for the place that I used to promote as Calgary's best computer shop. This is their third relocation of the NE shop since starting out toward McCall Lake Golf Course, which was extremely small. Unfortunately, it seems all they've done is add a bunch of TVs and stereos. Not my kind of place... AT ALL but a necessary evil for me as I needed a laptop battery and badly. So badly that I cancelled my E-bay purchase for one as I needed to find one sooner than the shipment from California would offer. I had no idea of this store but hubby found it on line and off into the deep NE we went. It was large, airy and clean. I think hubby could have easily stayed there 8 hours looking at everything. I wanted to be in and out and thankfully, I practically was. There is a customer service area roped off so you line up there and on this Sat, there were enough people behind the counter that we did not have to wait. Hubby had taken a pic of my battery specs and the employee checked it on the computer - not in stock... BUT he was nice enough to go to a visual of the back without us even asking and TADAAAAA! My laptop battery in all its glory, brand new, sealed in a plastic package, in a box was brought out. It looked like the right one and was told we had a week to bring it back if it did not fit. $57 including tax. Way less than the cost of a new laptop and all the hassle of transferring all my data to the new one. IT FIT! TIP - bring your laptop with you just to be sure in getting the correct part. Funny note - later in the day when I was busy hubby did sneak back and took a look at everything in the store. Our marriage remains in tact as he did not buy anything but he said that the store does have a decent selection. Maybe not all the high end brands, no Dell, No HPs but he said the value of what they did have was good and cheaper than Best Buy and Future Shop. Got a 4 year warranty, and asked them for an inspection after about 2 years of using a laptop. The laptop kept shutting off itself, and I had to run an inspection after the laptop shut down 4 times in a day. Memory express said they'd run to see if there are any problem with CPU, graphic card, and other parts to see if they were causing problem. After about 2 weeks of inspection (including battery replacement), they concluded that the shut down was caused due to a lot of dust. They did not fix anything except cleaning dust and replacing the battery. It's only been two weeks since i got my laptop back, and my laptop shut down again. I don't know if i can trust memory express inspection again, and started regretting getting the warranty. I would've gotten better results with less headache if I did inspection myself and find the 'real' problem myself, with far less time consumption and even money savings. (they said i'd be charged with about $50/hr for inspection, totalling up to about $100-150 for my laptop inpection. If i didn't have warranty, what would I be paying for? Inspection that can't find what the problem with my laptop is at all?) I'd definitely get refund for warranty If I had a choice. read more

Ah Memory Express, such a hit and miss kind of place... They have a really annoying tendency of only stocking the latest parts, so anything that is older than 6 months is usually hard to find there. I've repeatedly had to go to other shops and online to find things I needed. I also have an issue with their prices at times. I get that they can't always offer great prices like newegg can, but when they are priced 40+ dollars over other small business in the city you know they're just gouging. Thankfully this is not always the case, most of the time they've been reasonable. Their staff are always really hit and miss for me as well. Many of them assume everyone who walks into the door has no idea what they are talking about, so they will often try to talk over you and talk you out of parts. My husband and I have had to literally stop them mid-sentence and explain in exacting detail that yes, we know what we are doing. Honestly, most of the time we go in there I am steeling myself for this to happen. Thankfully it's not ALL bad. There have been staff that were great, we've gotten good deals, exchanges are easy and it's often convenient to go there over dealing with shipping costs and such. I'd just rather check Computer Rack first before trying Memex. read more

I really like memory express! One of the biggest reasons I like them is their warranty service. I purchased a monitor from memory express and like all electronics can do, it stopped working a few days after I purchased it. I took it into the store, they proved right there it wasn't working and replaced it for me. Some items need 5 days for warranty issues but if they can't get you going after 5 days they replace the product. Compare that to my experience at Future Shop... I purchased a A/V receiver from FS with a 4 year warranty. The warranty was almost as much as the receiver. It stopped working a week after I bought it. I brought it in and they didn't even look at it and sent it away for repair. 3 weeks later I got it back. People may complain about the prices but on the monitor I bought Future Shop had it as well but when I compared the price with a 4 year warranty attached, they were the same price. Memory Express warranty is MUCH better than any other I've seen. As well, their staff is extremely knowledgeable. When I go in asking what I should buy in terms of computer items I know that they will give me the best solution in my price range. Shopping at other places I'm not so confident that the person knows really what they are talking about. A secondary reason that I like memory express is that when you bring your item in for repair or to solve and issue the customer service people know what they are doing and will help you right away if the issue is a small one. Memory Express is a rare commodity in the industry. My background is in IT, so I have never had to use the knowledge of someone else in the industry. MemEx is a rare find, as they have that knowledge along with the best prices on hardware. While I've never taken advantage of their knowledge, I have had several conversations with their employees that likely lasted longer than their manager would like. But that is an important point. The people working at Memory Express are nerds. Thanks to Tech Squad, the classification nerd is even less sexy than it was when I was a kid. But it's still the best word to use. Between the dozen or so people working there at any given time, you will find the answer to your question. A few times, I was offered advice that was wrong (nothing major), and had to correct the person who gave it. What amazed me was how they not only accepted the correction, they pressed me for more information (which became one of those longer-than-it-should-be conversations). And this nicely segways to my second major point. Finding smart people isn't nearly as important as finding smart people who can accept mistakes. Who want to learn. MemEx has that. They also have seriously high employee retention rates. Chances are, if you're a regular like me, you'll recognize most of them if you pass them in the street. Finally, the prices. Oh, the prices. For years I ordered my components almost exclusively over the internet. It made sense when you could find any item for 30-40% cheaper. Memory Express has effectively closed that gap. In most cases, I would be lucky to find a difference of 5-10% online, and that happens rarely. I was sent to memory Express by a co-worker. This computer has been the WORST system I have ever had experience with. In the first month it was slow so I took it back. They said it was a software issue and said they needed to reinstall the software which lost everything I had put on it. I wasn't impressed. Since then it's been more of a boat anchor than a computer. Slow as can be. I won't goo back because I'm sure they will loose everything again. It is extremely slow and I hate it. Will never go back to Memory Express again. Last week I ordered a new monitor for pickup from the store in Vancouver. Within a day or two I received a call to inform me my new ROG SWIFT PG278QR 27in WQHD 165Hz Gaming LED LCD w/ G-Sync was available for pickup. I was a little surprised that they wanted to hook it up to make sure it worked for me, but figured I didn't mind that. Then I realized why they were doing this. Little did I know that the new monitor I went to pick was a return.. Why was it a return you may ask? Well it had a stuck pixel right in the middle of the screen, and there was a big note posted to the front of the box stating why it was returned. I asked if there was a new monitor in the store. Nope there wasn't. The rep tried to convince me it's not uncommon to get a stuck pixel and most monitors usually get them. It's as if he thought I didn't mind spending $800 after tax dollars on something I that was supposed to be new but wasn't. They wouldn't even offer a decent discount to see if I would be OK ignoring the spot in the middle of the screen. You'd think they could've told me that when they called me for the pickup. Especially since the drive was an hour each direction. I am neither impressed or amused. I left the monitor there and kept my money. I am a frequent shopper at Memory express, and am usually happy. However this experience left a bad taste in my mouth. (First 2 Paragraphs taken from my review of their 34th St outlet. I know this is kinda cheating a little, but all of the outlets are virtually identical. But yes just these 2 paragraphs... I do have something special to say about this) [ Memory Express has captured their market share in several locations here, Vancouver, WInnipeg and Edmonton by doing what they do well, selling computer parts at reasonable prices and ensuring there is always ample stock when you need it. Service is friendly, and the staff are mostly comprised of geeks who knows their equipment. And, the owners seem to have a great eye for truly geek stuff that'll sell well, such as Star Wars chopsticks, ice trays looking like Han Solo trapped in Carbonite and my favorite newest edition to my geekdom, a USB hub that looks and sounds like Dr. Who's Tardis. I shop here regularly, and enjoy it. The only caveat I do have is that they really should put in an express lane for their processing, for people who already know what they want and don't need to talk to staff. Because a fair number of the clients usually need advice on what they could use, line ups even only 2 people long can sometimes take 15+ minutes. One night, I had waited literally 45 min, and being only 3rd in line! ] Ok, and now that that's done, this Memory is an expansion from their original location on Macleod Trail, and it's also probably their busiest overall due to their location so close to Chinook Centre and the LRT stations. I usually prefer going to this one when I can (especially since I live close nearby). Stock is usually pretty good, and a lot of the more interesting stuff tends to be available here first. My only complaints here is again about the line ups. Honestly, I've spent ages in line, and sometimes the staff are too dedicated to their official job (say cameras, or repairs), that they'll just let the people in line get more and more pissed off than consider breaking the rules and relieve the pressure. Also, the online ordering system really is pretty useless. I've tried a few orders in the past, and only ONE out of many ever got processed properly. Worse, during popular specials, the server seems to either crash or freeze instead. read more

Customer service was great, but when I received my laptop back, it was more broken then when I got it, so my only option was to shell out 200 dollars to fix a disconnected key. It is a common problem with the laptop that can be fixed relatively easily, but I was uncomfortable with doing so myself. I brought my laptop into Memory Express to have the power button looked at, the team there was very helpful and got back to me right-away to let me know that the laptop needed a new switch, however the switch would have to be orders in which I was told could be up to 10 days away, I told the tech to go ahead and order the switch. 3days later I was told the laptop was all ready to go for pick-up! WOW! It is nice to see company that under promises but way over delivers. I cant say enough how impressed I have been with Memory Express, I have been dealing with them for a number of years, and can say I have in all cases been very satisfied with the services provided by memory Express! Talson took extra time explaining the intricate details of all the different parts needed to build a computer that my son has taken 3 years to save for.
