Initially, after visiting memorial Hermann for extreme pain two days after having stepped on a toothpick.... I was very happy because I felt like someone had really looked at my foot and made a diagnosis that there was no wood inside. They took it upon themselves to do an x-ray (as I now know wood will not show up on an x-ray especially a small piece), and sent me home with no pain medicine and a seven day antibiotic.
So I went home and stayed in bed for the next 4 weeks. In excruciating pain daily and nearly unbearable at night. After realizing it was not getting better, the swelling was not going down and the pain was not going away... I found a podiatrist and he discovered instantly just upon touching the wound site, that there was in fact a significant piece of wood there. Three days after that visit I had surgery to have the piece of wood removed from my foot.
So in all,Memorial Hermann left me in extreme pain, with a foreign object in my body that was doing damage. Now, two weeks after my surgery I am still having some difficulty walking and there is still significant swelling to my joints in that area. they really dismissed me once they took an x-ray and I never even saw a doctor. It was clear to me that they assumed I was there for pain medicine when I in fact kept stating that " I do not want pain meds I just want to know if there's something in my foot because I feel something in there and I'm in terrible pain".
Shame on those that "assisted" me on April 22, 2018. As much as I would love to rant and attempt a lawsuit, this has been such a terrible and traumatizing experience, all I hope for now is to make a full recovery and walk normally again soon.
ADVICE: Go to a SPECIALIST directly, if your injury warrants it... ER is useless and for literal life and death situations. Only. Don't waste your money. Oh, the visit cost me $1100..... lol. read more
