I've been wanting to go to this place for a while, and the drinks/menu were very cool + the vintage tees were actually a really good deal. Turns out they're renovating right now, so the full decorated interior I was expecting was not there. But for a place called melted vinyl, I expected records to be playing LOL. But other than my expectations for the interior, the actual drinks themselves were great!
I love finding these locally owned coffee shops. Melted Vinyl has been on my list and today I got to try them out. The vibe in the shop was great. From the music, the wall decor, the sales rack of tshirts or the "graffiti" on the counter. The owner was great. Very passionate about coffee. They make all their syrups in house, so that was a huge selling point for me. I tried the Lavender Ghost, hot. Hint of floral, not overly sweet like a store bought syrup and it showcased the espresso. For me, it was the right combination. Loved it. I was sad to her the owner is turning over the reins to the father. I'm sure the vibe will change... but I hope the coffee stays top notch. Looking forward to trying the EMO latte next.
I have seen this spot pop up on social media from time to time and never got a chance to try it until this weekend. From the outside, it looks like an ordinary coffee shop with a cute reto-looking store logo. When you walk in, it's almost like you are transformed into a 2000's coming of age movie. I love their rad interior and bonus, they even have one of those vintage arcade machines that were free to play! The person working at the front was super helpful by providing us with recommendations. We ended up getting the lavender ghost and emo latte. I really appreciated how the team made sure to let us know the emo latte is more on the mocha than the sweet side. Fun fact: all syrups are made in house so you know everything is fresh! The lavender ghost was definitely very strong with the lavender flavor, but in a good way. The emo latte actually turned out to be my favorite. It was rich, the mocha mellowed out the sweetness, and I felt like it brought out a really deep coffee flavor. Overall, I was pretty happy customer. Parking is a bit tricky here because it's all street parking. The coffee shop is located at the corner of the street, so definitely utilize the the street right next to them. I came around 11am and there were plenty of spots.
Visited this coffee shop while in the area and needing to get some work done. Very small but cute location near downtown Brea. Loved the music/vinyl vibes. Ordered and iced vanilla latte with oat milk. The employee told me they make all their syrups in house (it was delicious) and she said to feel free to ask for more syrup if I felt I needed it, but my drink was great. got my work done + visited a great coffee shop. Definitely recommend trying this place
This is a very cute cafe. I loved the vintage shirts they sell and the free arcade game--it added a fun, nostalgic vibe. The decor was really cool, especially the wall of retro album covers, which gave the place a unique and cozy feel. The service was wonderful, the place was clean, and the drinks were refreshing and delicious. I'd definitely come back.
Decided to stop by here because I saw a cute chalkboard sign outside yesterday. Kids love the fact that it had free street fighter game and was across the street from a great donut shop. We ordered a "Burning Love" (rose Mexican mocha) iced, and a vanilla latte iced. Both drinks were great if you like more of a light roast coffee/espresso flavor. The house-made vanilla syrup was delicious. My personal preference would have been a stronger coffee flavor, but my husband liked the lighter flavor. I also expected there to be a bit more music because of the name, but music was super low, couldn't really hear it. Service was really friendly and nice. Would stop in again for a quick coffee, but place is too small to really hang out or meet a friend.
Came here for a quick coffee and had a great experience. I came on a Sunday morning and the barista was very friendly and helpful. I ended up ordering the Iced Rose Mexican Mocha from their seasonal spring drinks. There was lots to look at while I waited while they had a cool vinyl wall, clothes rack to look through, and an arcade game. My drink came out quick and tasted very delicious. The rose wasn't too overpowering and complimented the mocha taste well. Can't wait to try this place again!
My first time here I have been wanting to try this place for so long! I'm so glad I did Hannah is the one who took my order they are revamping the place so it was a bit under construction. But they still had cool things up on the walls and bottles with melted candles and vinyls posted on the walls. They were so friendly here I ordered the Lavender Ghost, it's strong and imported from France the Oat milk. Very delicious cup of coffee absolutely love it!! I will definitely be back to try more! I can't wait to come back when they fix everything up. I noticed a few of my yelp friends have come here before so happy I got to finally try it. I forgot to mention they have inside tables too if you want to sit and drink your coffee. One of a kind coffee shop! I came on a Sunday at noon and we were the only ones in the coffee shop. We were able to find street parking. For the pros. I love the emo theme and the vibes!! The decor was on point and they had different vinyls to look through. I think it's so different and unique as I've never been to a coffee shop like this before. The worker was also super sweet and we had a nice conversation. Great customer service! However, the drinks were a miss for me. We tried the flavored latte (both vanilla bean and hazelnut), which was $6 each. The latte just tasted like flavored milk. I know it's mostly milk in lattes but I couldn't taste any espresso/coffee. Overall, I still think the concept is great and maybe I tried the wrong drink.

It's literally a trophy with a key attached to it. It is outside, but I mean at least they have one! The design is cozy and makes you feel like you're at a small concert venue. Whoever put this all together really has an eye for details. The drink itself was pretty good. My boyfriend told me she was struggling to get the matcha powder to blend in, but it was chunky, even though it was a little grainy. The color was great, and I'm glad we came here. We'll definitely be back! There is so much to look at there, that we'll have to return to take it all in.
Based on other reviews, it seems like this place is either hit or miss. It was a hit for us. Upon walking in we were met with rock music playing over the speakers, humorous menu and signage, anime stickers plastered all over the espresso machine, an arcade nook, and shelves of records. The coffee cup sleeves are also hand stamped just before being used to serve the coffee which is the nicest touch. The vibes, coffee, and service were all immaculate. 1000/10. The barista was so kind and answered our questions. They told us about how all syrups are steeped and made in-house, and allayed my concerns about lavender drinks sometimes being too perfume-y for me, and how the lavender syrup is made with European lavender, and if I didn't like my drink, they would be more than happy to make a different one for me. Spoiler alert: I didn't need a different drink. Lavender Ghost, iced. Another reviewer said this tasted medicinal / herbal. I can see why someone would say that, given the overtly flowery faux-lavender flavoring of other coffee stores. However, to my palette, this lavender syrup tasted natural, authentic, and calming. It was also clearly the star of the show without being overwhelming. Emo Latte, hot. This was like drinking a dark chocolate and orange truffle. Rich, delicious, elegant, comforting. When I got home, I had this with dark chocolate covered candied orange peels, and I was literally sent to heaven, same-day shipping. Espresso Occultonic. The thing about espresso tonics is that the coffee actually needs to be good, and Melted Vinyl's ET is better than most. And at $3 a pop, we also ended up taking home six records, some of which were as old as my parents. All of them were in good condition and played beautifully. Overall, we had a lovely experience and will definitely be back.

Ambiance: This place is totally a vibe. You can go thrift shopping AND get some great coffee? BOOKMARKED! They are renovating so i can wait to come back here to see what they have improved. Service: No line on a Saturday late morning. Very chill. Coffee: I got your standard vanilla latte. PARKING: Street parking seemed ample on a slow Wednesday morning. Be careful of street sweeping on Tuesday's & Thursdays. AMBIANCE: Very cute shop inside! But empty on a random Wednesday morning. It's not really a "hangout" at the coffee shop type of vibe. More of a quick grab and go place. DRINK: **ONLY ONE SIZE = SMALL** $8 LAVENDER GHOST: the flavor was great! But the temperature of my hot latte when I got it was luke warm. I'm sure it would've been better if it was actually hot. I think it's pricey for the size. OVERALL: I found this place on yelp, thought it looked cool and wanted to give it a try, but wasn't super impressed. Stopped by for the first time and was feeling something refreshing. They had a Blueberry Matcha Tonic on their specialty menu and it was DELICIOUS! You get the hint of blueberry and of course matcha, with bubbles. No dairy. I would highly recommend this drink if you get the chance. On the other hand, my fiance is an avid cold brew drinker and unfortunately, was disappointed by the cold brew here. Tasted like an iced americano more than a genuine cup of cold brew. Me personally, I'd come back to try other items on their menu. read more

Inside the store was cool. I could see the potential atmosphere when it gets busy. Was completely empty when we went. Music playing was good, aesthetic was good as well. The matcha latte on the other hand straight water. No match flavor. $8 for whatever size we got. Wouldn't recommend unless you value aesthetics/vibe over drink taste. read more

I can count how many times I have gone to Melted Vinyl Coffee out of the 5 years living in Brea, on one hand. Why? Customer Service! Each time I have gone, their customer service is a 3 at best. Luckily, their coffee is good, I will give them that. Today, I got the Lavender Ghost Latte, very good. Wish it came in a larger size, then again, glad it didnt, was pretty pricey. read more

I absolutely adore this place! The walls are covered in emo/punk vinyls, the coffee names are extremely creative, and the owner is always such a pleasure to speak to. This coffee spot has solid coffee. The emo latte is one of my favorite coffee drinks of all time (it is not a sweet drink though!). The syrups are made in house & they have intriguing flavors. I'm never disappointed when I get coffee from here. Definitely recommend if you're in the area! read more
I stepped into the coolest looking coffee shop just to be disappointed with my drink. I ordered a matcha latte with oat milk and vanilla syrup as a sweetener, and it was the worst matcha I've ever had. The matcha was clumpy at the bottom, it tasted watery, and didn't have any sweetness to it at all. It was just a bad experience drinking it, it felt like I just wasted my money (2 of these drinks came out to $16??). Props to the emo theme going, though! Looking for a boutique coffee store with a good product that keeps you away from the espresso store with the big green emblem? Look no further. The store owner has a passion for coffee. I don't remember the full story around records but he got into vinyl records in the Los Angeles area. I had a Chai latte that was made with custom spice blend he created. Best tasting coffee in town, man. The lavender latte was the shizzle. Barista was honest and informative and quick whipping up the latte. Much appreciated, mang. I tried other spots and this was the most interesting. And, definitely best tasting. I usually balk when it comes to putting lavender in a latte, but this was good and not overpowering in the old-man tastebuds. Eclectic collection of vinyl, too. I didn't ask if I could play one of the vinyls, but I'm definitely going to return and recommend to all my homies. read more

I'm reallllyyyy happy with my drink. I ordered the Emo latte (orange + mocha) and was happily surprised to see that with was gray/black in color! It's perfect as it comes, coming from someone who usually orders drinks half-sweet. I also got the chocolate banana bread and its flavor was so good but it was a tiny bit dry. Such a cute spot!! As a (refined) and older emo, I adored the aesthetic of this spot. The owner is super kind and sweet, 10/10 customer service. Only thing is the parking, I had to go down the street. But what matters is the drinks! I had the lavender ghost, iced with oat milk. The owner let me know they made the lavender syrup in house, and the oat milk is made in LA. Which kinda justifies the cost. But still, supporting small businesses is up my alley. I was too shy to ask if they had wifi, since I planned to study there. But I'll definitely be back for the vibes! read more
My inner teen shrieks at melted vinyl! If I told my 15 year old self with huge side bangs, dirty vans and ripped band tS that I would have the worlds best eggnog latte in a emo cafe I couldn't be more proud. And pride really is an understatement when it comes to melted vinyls; decor, vibe, choice in music, quality ingredients and art of beverages. I've had the matcha, eggnog latte, cold brew multiple times and a chai, each drink crafted perfectly for you. I've always been asked by the owner how my drink was and if it needs any tweaking. I made a quick stop here after visiting Peets' Coffee, Yorba Linda simply because I just wanted to support a different local biz here in the 'City of Brea,' North Orange County, CA. I Yelped my way here to 'Melted Vinyl Records,' Coffee Shop was due to their unique cafe title. As I walked in, it was heavy metal music playing and certainly, they had lots of old records laying around and throughout the entire coffee shop. However, it was storming day, so my mission was to beat the ongoing storm. The barista I came across was also super friendly and chatty: he asked me how I found them out. I told him Downtown Brea was on the way home from prior hang out in Peets' Coffee, Yorba Linda Town Center. Anyways, to cut to the chase, if you like foam art on your lattes, this is the place to go. Their house latte turned out just right: not too dark but so pretty! The barista did courteously invite me back to hang out here for my next future visit! I for sure will! The great reviews for Melted Vinyl Coffee are for real! I had to see for myself what the hype on this nondescript location on Brea Blvd was about and I was not disappointed - once you enter the store, you know this is a coffee establishment with an attitude. From the vinyl record display to the Street Fighter II arcade machine that compliments the store's colorful settings, just being inside Melted Vinyl gives you as much energy as its delicious coffee drinks do. I had a vanilla latte (the vanilla is made in house) and I have to say it's probably the smoothest vanilla latte I've ever had - not too sweet and just rich enough. The owner Myke is also super friendly person to talk to and you can tell he's put his heart and soul into this shop. read more
Does anyone remember the Rites of Spring from the 80's? Well, I did the punk scene for a while cause of a girl back then, and they were a favorite band of mine. This EMO themed coffee shop took me back to when I wasn't so confirming, and I would just say FUCK IT, and FUCK YOU!!! Found this place on Yelp. There's no parking lot, however plenty of spots you can park on the street next to it. The inside surprised me. True to its name it's an ode to the emo lovers. There was a lot of effort and thought that went into the decor. I ordered the emo latte, which was made with dark chocolate. The worker did warn me it wasn't that sweet but I love dark chocolate. Coffee tasted amazing. My friend ordered the lavender ghost. He mentioned they make everything in house and you can definitely taste the infused lavender in it. There's a lot of passion in all of the drinks and they go above and beyond. I can see why the reviews are so amazing. I'll be back soon and I'm already raving to everyone about how great it was. I would skip Starbucks and come here for a personal experience. read more

All the shirts that are on the walls are old vintage t shirts or from shows or donated unfortunately. The only ones we sell have our name on them or sometimes limited release. Thank you for coming in!!!
It's been over a month since they closed for renovations and and it looks like nothing is happening. It's still a mess inside. Really bummed because there have been no updates on their socials in over a month either. Hope all is ok. Will they reopen?

According to the last Instagram posts, I know they've been remodeling recently. That might be why they seem closed more often recently.
