Ever been to a place, having a good time and then leave because a DJ shows up? That was us. Four of us were on the third floor having a nice time, enjoying delicious drinks and ordinary food, when the music started. As for the food, we tried three pizzas and all were uninspired. The toppings seemed stale and the crust was bland, like unleavened bread or unsalted crackers. It was good enough to eat but not good enough to order again. We also had appetizers. Fried ravioli was fine and the homemade chips with bacon a cheese also were good but again, not something we'd order again. On the plus side, service was fantastic. It's really too bad that Yelp has no four or five star restaurants at the promenade shops. Any time I've gone to one of the restaurants here I've had nothing but good experiences and Melt sets the highest bar in my opinion. High-end ambience, high-end staff, high-end food...every time. I have gone to Melt several times and the food has gone downhill considerably over the past year. I last went there this past week with several colleagues. Two of us ordered the NY strip steak. In the past, it was sliced and seasoned. When it arrived at our table, we thought they brought the wrong item. The steak wasn't prepared the same as previously (or described in the menu). It was so chewy and hard to cut that neither of us could eat it. Several of us ordered the arugala salad and it had so much lemon and garlic that it was too tart to eat. I was here several months ago and it was not bad but they have gone downhill since then. Started with beef carpaccio. Way too much vinegar, heavy on the arugula and light on the beef. Mosty disappointing was the main course, sea bass. This was a chef's special and was pretty pricey. Decent size piece of fish but grainy and there was some tasteless red sauce that surrounded it, presumably only for color because it had zero taste. There were a few turnips ( i think) that were tasty but the other vegetable were tiny minature squash which were bascially raw. This may have been the least value for $ I have had in a long time. Went for hubby's birthday. Great atmosphere and food. Our waiter John was awesome. Had the calamari to start and I had a special crab cake dish and my husband had the Paparadell pasta. They were both delicious. The sides are big and can be shared. Had the polenta, it was tasty. They gave my husband a complimentary champagne and cheesecake for his birthday. I thought I was sitting at the bar for Top Cut Steak House (I am not from the area) but it was "Melt". (Same owners). Apparently the steak house was on the 3rd floor and I was on the first floor. I wasn't the only one who didn't know this as I heard the bar tender and waiter tell a few other parties as well. In any case I was traveling for business and had a seat at the bar. The restaurant has an impressively beautiful decor. I started with a perfectly prepared vodka martini. For dinner I had the salad with chicken. I forget what it was called but It is actually a cob salad. It was delicious. It had a generous amount of perfectly grilled and very tender chicken. I enjoyed. I ended with the gelato. I was able to pick 3 scoops of 4 diff gelato flavors. The pistachio was the best. Service was good. My bill for just me (without tip) was $40. No happy hour which was disappointing. We came here for dinner after having an impressive lunch a few months ago. Service was up to par, but food was only okay. I had the prosciutto and arugula pizza. The prosciutto was a bit salty, and the arugula was limp. My husband enjoyed his rigatoni. The tiramisu was good; different than most places, but good. My bellinitini was good, but a little low on the puree. I'd go back, but I think there are many places that are just as good for similar or less money. Melt just has more atmosphere. read more

They're trying to be high end but it was at least 10 - 12 minutes before a server came to take a drink order. Ambiance - We were up on the roof around 7:00 on a Saturday night. Lots of bachelorette parties. Great ambiance and perfect people-watching spot. Would go again for a quick drink before a movie but would not recommend a trip here for dinner. read more

Dining here is always a wonderful experience. The food is impeccable and the service is superb. Two things I love about the service that I rarely see in other restaurants are: 1. Everything is done with absolute urgency. When you ask them for something, it is done immediately and before anything else. 2. They have people on standby to refill drinks. I need something to drink while I'm eating and for me that's huge. 3. The waiters are knowledgeable about wines. I really like dry white wines and unlike most reds, what you see isn't always what you get (in terms of sweetness). The waiters always help me find the driest grigio or blanc and that really helps. I have been to Melt several times and have been thrilled each time. Most recently I visited during restaurant week, which I highly recommend doing. You receive an amazing deal - 3 courses for $30. I had the calamari as an appetizer, steak as my meal, and chocolate mousse for dessert. All were incredible. I recommend making a reservation for Melt, no matter when you go. It can get crowded but is definitely worth going to. The service has always been quick, friendly, and helpful. Since it's located in the Promenade shops, there is a parking lot right outside, but it definitely gets packed in the evenings and especially on the weekends. Melt is a great place to go with a group of friends or for a date night. I highly recommend it for special occasions, or for when you just need a night off from cooking! read more

This review is for the LOUNGE on the 3rd Floor, NOT THE RESTAURANT... Upscale without being overly pretentious. Friday and Saturday night provide a welcome change from the nightclub experience NEPA/Lehigh Valley has to offer normally. I haven't been in a few months but last i was there Friday and Saturday night DJs nodded more towards club music. But they did play music in sets, so at some point you'll hear your favorite recent hip-hop "joint". Drinks are expensive (for PA standards) but potent and the decor/ambiance is top notch. it's a trendy dress/dressed for the evening kind of place which is great...when you're in the mood for it. The patio portion is a nice hang out spot and the firepit provides an added flair. There is NO SET dancefloor. it's one of these "dance where you are" type places which sometimes leads to a bunch of people standing around. I've been coming to Melt for several years. I found it while house hunting in the area at the recommendation of my realtor. The move didn't happen, but I still make monthly trips out here for shopping at the Promenade and lunch or dinner at Melt. The service has always been incredible here. I used to look for Beth, but since she's left Gina has been taking care of me for the last year or better. Both were amazing and worth asking for. As far as the food - it's very good. They have an excellent drink menu (I typically go with the Nights in Venice for a martini and wine with dinner). The daily rotisserie is always worth checking out and the cheesecakes are spectacular. In all of my visits I had one miss (overcooked pasta for my guest and my steak was over done) which easily could've ended my trips to the restaurant, however the service has always been good, but things have rebounded tremendously after that (and it was a couple years ago). Anywhere you sit in here is beautiful. The ambiance is soothing. The food was perfectly cooked and didn't take long at all. We all ate from each other's plate and it was gooood. We had a funny, attentive server who kept our drinks full. The drink menu was satisfying. The price to me wasn't bad because I'm used to NYC prices, although later up on Level 3, on a Fri night the drinks were $10 each. You can eat here for a moderate check in the end if you stick with the gourmet pastas and skip the alcohol. You can even have dessert on Level 3! Take your friends...have fun! read more

Very very good. The valley is now chock full of very good to great dining. So much so it is almost overwhelming. there is more fine dining within 10 square miles between the two cities of Bethlehem and Allentown than most of center city Philadelphia. Melt is an absolute must try part of that. Located in the tony Promenade shoppes of south mountain, Melt grabs you from a mile away with its stand alone architecture. The promenade has lost some of it's appeal lately due to the revitalization of both cities nearby, but if and when you do go there, go to Melt. the veal Ragu...oh man I can still taste it. An absolute 5 star entree worth the visit for that alone. Imagine all the savory flavors, top cut and just perfectl sauce. The olive platter..top notch and fresh! the Bread, fresh and hot and tasty. The wine, excellent, the beer..good enough. The Scotch...McCallans24. Need I say more? this is a beautiful spot, and often less than busy during the week. On the weekends it is still one of the places to be, especially for large groups looking to impress with a modern touch. Great for a business dinner, or date night. Go here. I've eaten here many times. While the food does seem to be hit or miss, I've learned which menu items "wow" me. Any of the pasta dishes are delicious. My favorite is the Orecchiette made with sweet sausage and broccoli rabe in a delicate sauce. The Osso Buco is another of my favorites, veal so tender; it melts in your mouth. I just love the atmosphere here. The architecture is sleek and beautiful; it feels like you're in Manhattan. Level 3 is like stepping into another world. On the evening that we were there the service was pretty slow but what really sucked was the awful table we were given on the second floor - it was located in a service corridor (see pics). There's no red checkered table cloth here. The decor is very fine dinning, however there is no dress code. I know this because I came in dressed very casual. If you want to check it out but not ready to spend a lot the personal pizzas and pasta dishes are delicious and priced under $17. The entrees are a little bit more starting at around $22. I went to Melt with some friends to celebrate a couple birthdays. It was a pretty slow night (Sunday), but the service still seemed to lag for some reason--it took a while for them to bring us bread, and our waitress strangely waited until a long time after we ordered drinks to tell us the specials, when we had already pretty much made up our minds. The atmosphere of the place, as others have mentioned, is definitely really cool. I ordered the Bucatini Amatriciana and a Caesar salad, and it was decent, but nothing special. In my mind, an Italian restaurant should live or die by its red sauce, and Melt's was a bit disappointing: to me it was bland and not very interesting. Prices seem high for what you get; though as a college student, my views on price are a little skewed. Melt isn't the best Italian food I've ever had, but it's certainly not the worst. I'd really like to go back and check out the lounge upstairs, but I'll save that for the warmer months. read more

It's big and beautiful. The food is okay. The service is mediocre. But the price is high. My hunch is that the modern club-like atmosphere and the Guess ad pizza box doggy bag cost a pretty penny. That penny is probably added to the price of my $15 diavalo pizza. Or my husbands $19 fettuccine bolognese. Both meals were decent, but not worth that price. I sat in the bistro area where I had to wrap myself into a shawl cocoon to brave the frigid temperature that hit our table every time someone decided to use the side door rather than the front entrance. Not sure what happened recently, since it has been dead of late. Maybe Visions at the Sands has something to do with it. The electric vibe here has been lost recently. I have not been to Melt in a couple of years and was happy with their food back then. I actually think they have stepped up their food quality and have expanded their menu. We went with a group of about 15 people and had a variety of the menu items and specials for the day. I don't think anyone was disappointed. I had a seafood dish that was fresh and cooked just right. The sides were good and the appetizers we ordered were also very good. Overall the service was perfect the atmosphere was great and we really enjoyed ourselves. If I am in the area again I'll definitely consider this a spot to eat dinner. One downside to the restaurant is that the restroom is on the second floor so consider that if you have someone with that is not very mobile... They could have an elevator but I didn't look for one, I just took the stairs. read more

Being in the Promenade means it is going to be priced slightly high (wine list eg), but you can still eat here without breaking the bank. Was there today for the first time for Easter with family. The restaurant is beautiful. We had great service from our waitress. She was delightful and the food came out rather quickly. The ceasar and arugula salads were excellent. However, the big bummer for us was that three of our entrees were all over-salted. I will never understand why kitchens will do this when it is so easy to add salt at the table if desired. The dishes would have been fine, but the heavy salt simply ruined them. (We had the recommended bolognese, carbonara, and the chicken parm.) The lobster ravioli special was fine, but unremarkable (and not overly salty).
