Came here for a rep dinner, and honestly, this place is usually pretty solid. The servers were fantastic as always--friendly, hustling, and doing their best to hold things together. Unfortunately... that's where the good ends. There seems to be a serious lack of management. We waited so long for salads and appetizers I thought they were growing the lettuce out back. And the main course? I'm pretty sure they sent someone to Alaska to personally catch the salmon... and then walk it back. By the time our food finally showed up, everything was cold. Not "slightly cooled off" -- I mean borderline "left it on the counter during a snowstorm" cold. It's a shame because the servers are carrying this place on their backs, but without better management and timing, it turns into a long, cold, and frustrating experience. Would come back for the staff... but maybe I will eat elsewhere beforehand. read more

We had 10pm reservations and called ahead to let the restaurant know we would be running late. We were informed there was a 15-minute grace period. We arrived at 10:17pm. Two of us went inside while the car was being parked, and we were not acknowledged when we walked in. The host was behind the bar talking to who I assume was the bartender and didn't come over right away. When he finally approached and asked how he could help us, we told him we had 10pm reservations. His response was simply, "We're closed." We explained that we had called and were told there was a 15-minute grace period. He then responded rudely, emphasizing that it was now "10:20" and that the kitchen staff had already left. He claimed they waited to see if we were coming and since we didn't show, everyone left -- yet we were standing inside the restaurant only two minutes after the grace period. Had we been acknowledged when we walked in, this entire situation could have been avoided. I also find it disappointing that no one thought to call us when they decided to close early, especially since we had called them directly to communicate we were running behind. The host's attitude was unnecessarily dismissive and unprofessional. Honestly, I'm kind of glad we didn't get to eat here anyway. After looking into it further, it seems the food is overpriced for the quality, and if the service is any indication of the overall experience, I probably saved myself from paying top dollar for disappointment. Between the lack of professionalism and the careless way guests are treated, this place clearly values closing early more than it values customers. read more

Melt is an Italian-American restaurant located at the Promenade Shops at Saucon Valley. It's open Monday through Thursday from 11:00 AM to 9:30 PM, with later hours on Friday and Saturday until 10:00 PM, and Sunday until 8:30 PM. I've been to Melt before, so I went in with fairly neutral expectations, not expecting anything terrific, but not expecting it to be terrible either. My friend and I started with the calamari fritti. As I went to pick up my first bite, I noticed how light it felt, which made sense once I realized there was barely any calamari beneath all that breading. Next I had a bowl of their homemade pasta e fagioli. There wasn't much in it but it came out hot and had a nice, comforting flavor. For my main, I went with the garlic herb buttered scallops with house-made orzo, Parmigiano, fava beans, and pancetta, listed on the menu as capesante. It was so salty that by the third bite that's all I tasted. My friend went with the chicken Parmesan with house-made buttered pasta, listed on the menu as pizzaiola di pollo. Unfortunately, both the chicken and pasta were rubbery, and the tomato sauce lacked flavor. The entire dish came across as if it had been reheated. Our server was polite, but he never asked how the food was. Not once. My first visit was average, my second visit was awful, and well, there won't be a third. On a positive note, Melt is exceptional for Thanksgiving. I've gone the past three years, and the food and service were both top tier. read more

I have not been to Melt in about 15 years. However, it is just as visually impressive as ever and has the best aesthetics of any restaurant I have visited. Our hostess was truly pleasurable, Juan was our kind and helpful server who really took care of us. Our Sunday brunch was wonderful. I enjoyed the crab stuffed portobello mushroom though the lemon-based sauce became a bit overwhelming. My girlfriend loved her omelette and potatoes. Was hot and steamy. The crab cake had sweet red pepper. Disqualifying for me. Barely cooked. Aioli was overpowered by Dijon and garlic. Suffocatingly upscale eatery that would have you feeling underdressed in a tuxedo. Fortunately I did my laundry and showered before my visit so I was reluctantly allowed entry (kidding.) The good news is that the food here is outstanding with pricing that simply pinches at the edges but does not gouge as is the current custom at most modern pastarinas. If your're an experienced foodie, don't get your hopes to high! There are simply to many way better places for superior food, considering what you get for you're money! I haven't been here in years, so I stopped in for lunch while I was in the area for work. I am definitely glad I did. I started with the pasta fagioli soup which was one of the best I have ever had. Then I had the chicken parmesan (pizzaiola pollo) lunch which was the perfect serving size and it tasted great. They have a large variety of wine and bar selections as well. Dark and intimate, relatively well laid out, however the booth seating is a bit tight if you're a big guy. The front desk for reservations seemed a bit confused after checking you in they come back to your table and they ask you did you have a reservation? By the way it's the same staff who checked you in, makes no sense. The wait staff was phenomenal, waiter was attentive, courteous and polite. The food service was correct, for what you would expect and what is claimed as an upscale Italian restaurant. The food however, less than mediocre I personally had the Parmesan it was done okay, The crab cake appetizer, which was the special, was not special - in fact a $21 crab cake better be done the best, and it was not, The portion was small the sauce was skimpy, not nearly enough from me and my date to eat. I got tremendously upcharged on pasta which I switched to angel hair with vodka sauce buyer beware they whacked me for an additional $8, on $1.50 pasta.... Unfortunately, I have eaten at some of the best upscale Italian restaurants in New York City... The drinks, we're good, however Manhattan prices in the Lehigh Valley. Sadly, we will never go back here on our dime. The interior and service were nice. The food was very disappointing. Very nice drink menu with a list of cocktails, whiskeys and wine by the glass or bottle. We opted for calamari, burrata and meatballs for appetizer. The calamari was light, tender and not greasy. The meatballs were delicious with great meat sauce. The burrata was very nice. We ordered veal Parmesan and Parpardelle Al Vittelo. The veal in both meals was spectacular. The tomato sauce for the veal and the meatballs was different which was nice to have a different taste profile. It was Fathers Day and my wife's birthday. We had great service. Went to Melt yesterday for an early dinner for my birthday. The ambiance and aesthetics are great! I read through plenty reviews and many have a common thread of service being subpar and that was true of my experience as well. Our server just didn't seem all that concerned with coming to our table despite ours being 1 of 2-3 in the restaurant at the time. We ordered red sangria and the who cares cocktail. Both we good and came out rather quickly. The bread is good. The olive oil is plain, but they do put salt and pepper grinders on the table, which make it easy to spruce the oil up a little. We had the polipo (grilled octopus) as an appetizer. It was very over cooked and rubbery. Maybe after a bite into that our entrees came out. My friend had the fettuccine bolognese and said it was delicious. I had the pappardelle al vitello and enjoyed it. There were more mushrooms than meat and maybe 2 shavings of parmigiano, but it was flavorful. My friend had the pistachio gelato for dessert and said it was delicious! If you've been to Blue (all under Paxos) the pricing and food are very similar but I didn't find any items that were must trys Calamari: solid and nothing unique but good Antipasto misto: large platter great for parties practically a cheeseboard with meats Polpette di melt: enjoyed these meatballs that come in tomato sauce, not your typical round meatballs Margherita pizza: thin pizza with small slices of basil - a tasty starter pizza Arugula salad - simplistic and decent portion Mash potatoes: very creamy and delicious Asparagus: cooked with wine and lots of butter, but felt overpriced for some greens Capellini e gamberetti - angel hair pasta with large tomato chunks. Not too many shrimp pieces but very large portion. Everything was cooked well and the sauce had a little of spice, but the sauce was awkwardly lopsided to one side so I had to mix it myself Pasticcino di cioccolato: a dense chocolate torte that's very rich. Recently visited Melt for a Birthday celebration with my husband I had the Pappardelle All Vito which was a braised veal dish in a red wine sauce. It was delicious!! The Veal was Moist and tender enough to cut with your fork. The Parmesan cheese was Freshly grated and distinctly tasty. The portion was enough to feed 2 or 3. Our Server was friendly and attentive and made sure our birthday celebration was recognized with a complimentary dessert ... which was also scrumptious!! I've been here for business dinners and dinners with friends! It's nice, and cozy, and the food is tasty. They've got a good wine list too. It is a little expensive, as other reviews point out, and I really wish they had more vegetarian options. As it is, I can really only order the ravioli di formaggio. Which is a good dish! But a bit boring. Plus, the last time I was there, there was a meatball in the ravioli. I get really sick if I eat meat so I pointed it out to the server. In her defense, I think she was a bit new so she asked me what I wanted to be done about it. I said that I just wanted to let the kitchen know but wasn't expecting a new dish or anything-- just that they should be aware for other food contamination issues. I was really glad that a couple of other individuals (at least one manager) came over to check in with me (although one person strangely denied that it was a meatball, agreeing that it was "meat" but not "a ball.") They took it off the bill, which I appreciated and really felt like the whole thing was handled well! But for folks with severe allergies or Celiac, I don't know that they could totally trust eating here. Still, I'm sure I'll be back... Just hoping that there are some more menu options for vegetarians in the near future! read more

Cool vibe. Average to slightly above average food. Aloof, impersonal, inattentive service. Sat at the bar. Got waited on fairly quickly. Playmate had some kind of martini. I had a Manhattan. Both were ok (Manhattan was a bit sweet for my taste). Cesar salad was real good. Playmate's Carbonara was heavy on the bacon and light on the pasta. My rib eye was cooked med rare but was still tough and chewy. Nice seasoning, tho. The downside was I had to cut it with a butter knife. They didn't bring a steak knife and not one of the three bartenders ever stopped by to ask if we needed anything. No exaggeration. They walked past several times and never so much as glanced at us. Odd but true. Tab was $130. I tipped 20%, which is as low as I go unless you're downright rude and dismissive. Even reasonable service will get you 25%. And at most of our regular haunts I tip 30% or more. Just wasn't their night. read more

I cannot write this review fast enough. I'm literally only giving it a two star and not one because of our bartender. He cared more than the manager even did. He pushed to try his hardest to make sure we were happy. The manager just walked away. Let me back up... back story. I ordered a steak. Medium well. A $50 steak. Medium well. Today was supposed to be nice. My five day work week recently moved to six and my six day work week is moving to seven for at least the next month (at least). Not a big deal. My fiancé works law enforcement and in his 4-5 day weeks works 50-60-70+ hour weeks, with no exaggeration. Our schedules clash like no other. So this seventh day I'm adding into my schedule is going to make it impossible to see him. Still not so much a big deal because we've been here before, we've done this and of course, it's my choice to change my schedule. Our schedules clash with work. It's life. My birthday is in a week and a half and we today was supposed to be us celebrating my birthday since today is my last scheduled day off for at least* through sept, at the very least. So not only are we trying to spend some time together, he's trying to take me out to dinner for my birthday. Steak is by far my favorite food- I order it. It's fifty bucks. Fine. No biggie. Until it's not cooked correctly. I ordered medium well and it was red. The more I cut into it, the more red it got & the chewier it got. I was going to eat it regardless but I was just so upset with the situation itself. It's my only day off from working my six day week. My only day spending time with my fiancé in how long. Trying to celebrate my birthday. Trying to relax knowing I'll be working every day for the next month (extremely likely much longer) except today. Just overall upset. A girl behind the bar was nice & asked if everything was okay and I kind of shook my head & she grabbed the manager. The manager didn't even validate that the meat wasn't cooked. She offered to throw it back on the grill, which was nice, but everyone has heard stories about what so and so did at so and so restaurant. Things can get pretty dirty and disgusting. I have heard nothing about this restaurant specifically, but my second job is in a restaurant. A previous job I worked at in a restaurant, they did very dirty things to customer food & it was supposed to be a "nice restaurant". So no, I really didn't want my steak back on the grill, to be honest. The manager said she would personally stand there until it was done. That was very nice, but I don't know her. I don't know what's happening behind closed doors to my food. It sounds silly, but everyone knows a story about people that do things to food at restaurants. After I declined, she just walked away. I was just staring at my food. The steak was fifty dollars. I was talking to my fiancé like "do I bring this home and cook it myself???? Like what do I do with this???" And the manager was all within ear range. And just ignored everything. She never came back over. The male bartender came over eventually and asked if everything was okay and I was like honestly not really. Explained the food thing. Didn't even go into any detail about my personal life because what does anyone care? Nobody does, realistically. He pressed to put it back on the grill and he brought it back and tbh it was still red. Better. But still red. I didn't even complain at that point bc 1) I clearly wasn't winning any battle. The manager couldn't even see my steak was mooing back at me. 2) the bartender tried. He had way, way better situation management than the manager did. And I'm grateful for that alone 3) nothing was comped, discounted, nothing. 4) the manager very clearly just didn't care. I wasn't looking for free food. I wasn't looking for comped food. I wanted good customer service & good food. I got partial good service. The male bartender. Somewhat the female bartender. I'll give her some credit. The manager- no. Just no. If you're the owner of this restaurant or the manager or even just someone reading this- just treat every customer like they're having a bad day. Period. Like this just kinda ruined my day. It was supposed to be a good day and it just trashed it. Wasted money. I came here for a quick bite to eat before a movie. I didn't have a reservation, but thankfully I was able to get seated at the upstairs bar. I got "Nights in Venice" and it was good, but just a little too sweet for my liking. I had the "Penicillin" drink and that was great. The bartender Tyler was awesome and very personable. My only complaint is that the crab cake (literally 1 cake) was very small for the price. Otherwise, the margherita pizza was pretty tasty. read more
