We had a great experience here! The food was well done (we got pizza, breadsticks, and a salad) -- really good crust/breadsticks! Salad wasn't too shabby either. In addition to the food the service was great! We ordered online for takeaway and the system they use gives you tons of options for substitution. (Especially for the salad!) First time there and we had taco pizza. It was delicious! I would highly recommend it. The waitress was very friendly and attentive.

I've been traveling over a half hour to Mel's for the past decade at least once a year--why?? Wings! They have the best wings I've eaten near Pittsburgh! We ordered from Mel's again tonight. I had the Hot Sausage Sub/ Seasoned Fries. The sausage was loose, grilled with green peppers and onions. Really good! My wife had the Pick Three Appetizers, Hot Cheese Balls, Chicken Tenders and Onion Rings. We both liked our meals immensely. We recommend Mel's anytime. read more

Typical Western PA fare in a dive-bar atmosphere. The white pizza was really yummy. The crust was a bit chewy but overall it had good flavor. We got two extra large pizzas for our group for only $17, which I thought was a pretty great deal. I went on a Monday night and they had a 50 cent wing special, with a minimum order of 6 wings. They were the whole wing, and fried very crispy, just how I like. Also, they were having a special on Yeungling, and a bottle was only $1.50!!! For inexpensive bar food, Mel's cannot really be beat! *They also offer a nice selection 6 packs to go which is super convenient if you're grabbing food to go!!!! read more

Great carry-out drink selection. Pizza is great but we don't order from them too often because it is expensive, so we usually get from other local pizza places. They need to offer better specials on Pizza and drinks at the bar they'd get more customers hooked! One other complaint is that they got rid of the full-sized wings. They were awesome! read more

Went here with my sister and her Fiance on a Saturday afternoon. The restaurant has 2 flat screen TV's in it and you get the impression this place would be packed at night. There was a decent sized Saturday lunch crowd when we walked in. If you are looking for cheap decent pizza and some good drinks Mel's is a great place to go! We had ordered buffalo chicken salad, Stromboli, and large pizza. I would not recommend the salads here (although they aren't that bad, just not my type I'm interested in). The Stromboli was delicious and the pizza was decent. If I had a few fall beers that'd have been a great afternoon! Overall, I'd consider this almost a dive bar. I'd be curious to come back at night and see what the crowd was like. If you want to go get some drinks or just get some pizza definitely a place I'd go back to. read more

We went to Mel's for a few drinks last night. We were sitting at a table in the bar, the waitress never offered to get drinks for us. We decided to order a pizza and appetizers, I had to flag down a waitress to order. The pizza came but, no appetizer. She never came back to see if everything was ok. Staff is always friendly. The beer cooler is Heavenly. I have never eaten anything here that was bad. They get it perfect every time. Mel's is the only place that doesn't flinch when I order a pepperoni jalapeño with extra cheese. They have recently added Junior's cheesecake to the menu which is always delish. My fave is the chocolate mousse cheesecake. It is well worth the $6.00 price. read more

I've lived in Kittanning for nearly 7 years but never had gone to Mel's. Well my parents were in town for the day and I decided to take them there so we could all try it for the first time. Only 1 word to describe the experience: AWESOME! My dad ordered a 6-slice small cheese pizza for himself but we all tried it and loved it. Just the right amount of cheese and sauce. My mother and I ordered the Stromboli, hers a small and mine a medium (almost ordered the large). I was not only amazed at how big the Stromboli's were but how full of the toppings. It was the best Stromboli I've ever had since being back in the 'burgh! The waitress was very attentive (our drinks were never empty for more than a minute) and our food arrived only about 10-15 minutes after we ordered. It was a great first-time visit and I informed the waitress that I would definitely be coming there again or ordering food from them to take home! Ignore the poor reviews. Went there last Friday and got food poisoning and I'm still sick I won't go back there. So did my son and my husband.

We frequent Mel's often and I've always liked it . Food is always so good . Tonight was a different story. We have noticed the last few times we have been there service has really went down hill and the food is not good either. Our server tonight never brought our drinks ( I had to go ask for them ) ask for mayo and dressing for the hoagie which we never got. Our pizza came out looking terrible. All the toppings were in the middle. I ask for extra cheese. I asked to speak to someone in charge and the cook from the kitchen came out , arguing with me and giving me an attitude. Too much competition for this kind of service !!! We will never be back !!! So disappointed!! read more

Mel's used to be the sports bar of choice for me. Nice set of TV's and good game day specials then one day management (who are not the friendliest bunch) decided the bar side needed changed. They went from a nice long bar to a ridiculously smashed in horseshoe bar. They added a wider beer selection, but the taps are hidden in the corner and the menu is never updated so you basically are in for a nice guessing game. On top of that the price of beer went up to near Pittsburgh prices, which isn't good for a going nowhere kind of town. The staff used to be made up of some of my friends, but then as with all jobs they moved on and were replaced by a group of people that routinely drove away customers. Instead of working they sat and bs'd at the bar. Mel's turned from one of my favorite hang outs into a disaster. Suffice to say when I'm back in town I tend to skip it. If you want dive go to the Inn instead. read more

Went to Mel's last evening for dinner. I ordered mild buffalo wings. When they came, I could not even identify them as buffalo. They had virtually no sauce on them. They looked and tasted like plain deep-fried wings. (Maybe some people prefer them that way, but I do not.) The service was very slow. They seemed to be badly under-staffed. The waitress never came back to see if we wanted another soft drink. It will be a very long time before I go back (if ever). read more

Waitress said the manager would be out and she was, ten minutes later. Her excuse was that there was too many orders. Really, we were the only ones in the dining room.
