Great menu options. The service was very fast. We walked in at 2:14pm and had food in front of us with a side of bread and butter within 15 minutes. The tables were all clean and the staff were friendly and kind. We were offered river view seating and took the offer. The manager I believe took the time to talk with us about the food and the view. Beautiful view of the river with geese and other birds. The ambience was clean and ship themed which I loved. Great options of steak and fish. The menu comes with good wine options dependent on the food you order. Local beer was available as well. Love the support of local businesses. I want it to be a 4.5/5 not 4/5 because of the only downside being the bathroom. It was clean and tidy and I understand the theme they were going for but the middle split doors in the restroom made me nervous as it provided a small space in the middle of the door. Walked into a nearly deserted restaurant.... Only one waitress that I could see and she also was the bartender but with only 3 couples in attendance she wasn't going to become overwhelmed ..:seated at a window we had a nice view of the Allegheny River... ordered a Bloody Mary, some Beer Battered Deviled Eggs and the Figs and Pigs Toasted Cheese Sandwich...not a long wait time for everything to arrive...again there were only 6 of us present in the restaurant....2 eggs filled me up so I could only eat 1/4 of my sandwich but it was messily delicious (only hope I can air fry my leftovers)....the place could use some elbow grease but the bathroom was clean... read more

We had a group of 12 and went there in 2025 for the Easter buffet, and it was good. So, we as a group of 12, went there again for the Easter buffet in 2026. We will not be going there any longer! They have now become greedy! They rushed us out after an hour. I could see after 2 hours, but after one hour! A waitress takes your drink order when you sit down. That is the only time we saw the waitress. Besides the cost of the buffet for 12 people, we were charged an $80 service fee! This $80 fee was automatically added on to the bill. read more

Had a quiet lunch overlooking the Allegheny River at this restaurant.The missus enjoyed her cod with fries, while I ordered three appetizers for us to nosh on. The coconut shrimp was delish with their dipping sauce, and the beer-battered deviled eggs were out of this world yummy! The bruschetta though, was served with bread a bit too burnt. Oh well. Haven't been here in over a decade ( quit going due to food not being very good). Thought we'd try it again- to our disappointment, I'm pretty certain it has got worse. Maybe try again in another decade. Walked in, place was very empty. 3 different staff walked by us ( we must've been invisible and we had to ask if it was ok to be seated). Food was unfortunately horrible ( couldn't even eat the fries, deflated, burnt skins) and very overpriced for what we were served. Went there tonight for the first time in 20 years. Great service. Great view of the river. Nice atmosphere all-around. It was pasta special night. For $9.99, it's the best deal in town! I got Pasta with Shrimp and Chorizo. My son got Pasta and Blackened Chicken. Both excellent! The special came with your choice of soup or salad(I got French Onion, my son a salad), and a basket of bread. 2 beers each. Under $60 for two. We will be back!!!!!! We were out for a boat ride up river on Sunday and decided to stop for lunch and cocktails. They split our group into two. The other half had great timely service. Our half of the group did not. This was only made worse by the fact that my wife was leaving the bathroom and heard the staff complaining about our group. While the food was good it came out poorly and we were attended to poorly. I feel the need to also mention that the bartender was not being very nice to any of his customers as well. Staff and management of The Mariner: please do better. We've been here before and truly love the restaurant. However one more bad visit and we will never return. read more

Doesn't look like much on the outside; however, the inside is beautiful. It wasn't busy, as we arrived as soon as they opened. We were seated by the water on a beautiful sunny day! The food was not great. I got the filet and it was over charred. It was like the pan was too hot when they seared it. Instead of a med-rare with a nice sear it was a medium with a charcoal sear. My wife got salmon that was undercooked and had a hair in it. Normally that alone would be worth a 1 star review, but the staff was courteous and gave us a 50% discount on her meal. The meal was definitely not worth the $80 we paid for. TL;DR the food's quality is not worth the price. read more

First time visitor . Started off with some bruschetta boards( pick 3 from 6 types) all were amazing . Mushroom was my fave , other was Mediterranean and loved as well . Had the best wedge salad in a long time here as well. Then tried french onion soup which was very tasty and not too salty at all. Tried Parm fries which were average . Entree was salmon and beans and mashed potatoes which was excellent. Other guest had chicken carmines onion flatbread which they loved . Super view of the river and the staff was amazing . Really terrible food, I had diarrhea for 2 days after eating the fish here, not sure how they get away with selling spoiled fish for 27.00 a plate. Such a shame, this place, years ago, was the best place in the county to eat. I wouldn't feed what we had to our dog. Never again unless it changes managers/owners. I was so excited to take my wife and kids here while visiting my parents in the area. I was embarrassed for them. My mother got a chicken salad, it had 3 pieces of chicken on it, probable 1/5th of a 4 oz breast, and it was cold and discolored. My 13 year old son said the burger was good, but it was black on one side and charred, plus they gave him like 4 French fries with it. My wife's prime rib was as tough and tasteless as a really cheap cut of steak, overcooked and cold, mashed potatoes were cold. My father had a chorizo shrimp and lobster pasta, that the noodles were overcooked and in tiny pieces, and I would bet my new camaro that there wasn't a single piece of lobster in it. This place is supposed to be a higher class of dining, but I wish we would have gone to mcdonalds, I mentioned this to a couple of friends/moms neighbors, and they basically said the place has gone straight downhill in past year, and they no longer go there on Friday nites. What a shame, we basically left most of the abysmal meals on their plates, paid our bill and left. Myself along with anyone we know will never eat here again!! I called the Mariner two days before we wanted to celebrate a few birthdays there. Ava was very helpful on the phone and informed me that the tables on the deck were first come first serve, but since there was four of us they would take the reservation. She took my name and number and said if there was an issue someone would call me. I never heard from anyone, so I assumed they would honor the reservation. When we arrived I was once again informed that reservations were not available for the deck and they tried to seat us in the dining room. Luckily, there was only two people on the deck, so we were able to have the table we reserved over the phone. The saving grace of the situation was that our server was wonderful! Aries was so helpful and absolutely amazing. We loved her and she went above and beyond to make our evening special. She even took the time to put candles on the desserts we chose. Overall, the food was good and the flatbreads were my favorite, but it was our server who was the most memorable. So, if you visit the Mariner ask for Aries and tip her well! read more

We have gone to this restaurant twice. The first time was a weekday and we were the only people in there. Food was good and service was acceptable. The second time was a weekend. There was a 20 minute wait. Totally normal for a Saturday. We were seated by the bar in a booth. The hostess did not give a menus. Then we sat there for the next 15 minutes and we were never spoken to again by staff. We decided to leave after we realized that we were invincible. We may or may not go back. Just okay. Even though we had made reservations a week in advance for five people, we waited 15 minutes to be seated on a Friday at 5 PM. There were no tables available outside, which we had requested. It took over an hour and 20 minutes for our dinners. The meals were okay as ordered, although the portions were rather small and appeared thrown together. Appetizers are also expensive for what you receive. The server was very friendly and kept apologizing for our food not arriving. It may have been a kitchen oversight, as all of the tables around us who were seated after us had ordered and eaten before we even received appetizers. The hostess was kind and even gave us a discount on our meals for the inconvenience. It was a disappointing experience. Not sure if we will try it again. read more

Although that Queen size, HUGE, Prime Rib I had was perfect. Smashed potatoes (with garlic and a hint of rosemary) were FAB. Their house dressing (salad), SO GOOD. Wished I had a larger stomach (lol). I could have sat there all night ordering off of that menu. Everything from Apps to Seafood, Hummus, Baked Brie, dinners, sandwiches....everything on that menu I would have ordered, however that queen cut prime rib was huge. I could not even defeat that plate (had to box/take home, about 1/2 of it). Moderately priced considering the product, portions and preparation. This chef (owners) KNOWS his craft. Casual dining with high end food. Having just moved back into the area, I could NOT be happier. I am a FOODIE. Been to some of the nicer restaurants (Florida to France). And consider myself a "food snob" (purist). Looking forward to trying many many items off of their menu. Growing up in the area I never knew this place existed. Apparently it used to have other names and such. I liked the location and atmosphere of the place very much. The bartender Trish makes a damn good martini drink and the food we got was delicious. We ordered the zucchini planks and they had a marvelous crunchy coating on them and were tender inside. My favorite and I'm craving them again. The pretzels we ordered were large and again very well prepared. I had chocolate, lemon, and pumpkin martinis. All were excellent. If I lived here still I think I would be making this a weekly destination for myself. read more

My wife had lunch here a few months ago and said it was good. We weren't that lucky for dinner. The hostess seated us and said she would be our waitress. Got our drinks and ordered. The salads, which were fine came before our artichoke dip appetizer. The dip was bland and the chips were stale. We had to wait over an hour for our entrees. They weren't that busy. My wife said her crab cakes were okay. My chicken parm was not okay. The chicken was a piece of leather with breading that was very dry and hard on the edges. The pasta was over cooked and the sauce was the worst I've ever had. I ate some of the chicken and one bite of pasta. It was very tough to get refills on our drinks. I went to dinner with my father here on Saturday. They have an awesome outdoor bar/patio that alleviates any potential bar crowd issues and we were seated right away. Our table was right against the windows that over look the Allegheny. As afternoon was turning to evening, it really was picturesque. The atmosphere is anywhere from upscale to super casual. No real customer dress code, despite it being a nicer restaurant in the area - but that reflects on the diners, of course. It's not very loud, even with a few crazy, drunk locals at the bar, so we were able to have wonderful conversation and enjoy our surroundings. Although, if you're looking for the fun drunk crowd, they'll be outside on the patio later on the weekends. My food was fantastic. I hadn't been here in a few years, and I wasn't disappointed with my return. I had the spinach salad with salmon: fresh spinach, feta, diced red onions, a very large grilled salmon filet and drizzled with balsamic dressing. Yum. My father had the delmonico (he wanted prime rib, but it wasn't on the menu, as it once was) - unfortunately, his filet was half steak and half fat that should have been removed prior to serving. Luckily, the small portion of steak that he was able to eat was delicious, as was the salad that accompanied his entree. Oh, and the bread that is served at every table is so good. During our meal, boats would pull in and out of the marina docks, which was a great sight. It was a beautiful day and really helped to liven up the entire dining experience. Boaters would stop and grab six packs and one boat even pulled up with a family who was coming to dine at the restaurant, which sounded like an awesome idea if you have a boat. Our total for both our meals (including one soda) was around $40, which is such a steal. The service was good, and available as needed. I forgot my ID or else we would have grabbed a drink and watched the Pirates game on the bar screens (the bar area looked lively). I would recommend stopping by if you're around. Waited at the door to be seated. No hostess ever came, even though sign said "Please see Hostess to be seated". Decided to go to the bar for a drink sat there for 15 minutes and was never even approached by anyone. Said "Excuse me" to bartender standing at the other side of bar talking to gentleman seated at the end of the bar. He turned around looked at us and turned his back to us and continued talking to the gentleman. Waited another 5 minutes and then got up and stated loudly, "I guess we'll go somewhere we can get some service!" Again bartender turned around and looked at us and turned back around. Only one star until I find out if rumors are true. Have eaten here several times come in off boat with lots of boater friends. Had several parties here for Birthdays, retirement and so on. I hear it is under new management and I hear that they will not honor gift certificates. This is just crazy! If that is true the old management should have covered the certs that were not redeemed and the new management should have made sure that was done. Will be going there when they open and let you and the BBB know if this is true.
