We ordered from Melrose Catering for our Christmas Eve celebration. Stephen was extremely helpful in helping me with appetizer and food selection. We had crab cakes and bacon wrapped dates. Delicious! The main course consisted of trip tip, chicken picatta, green salad, garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus. The tri tip is so tender and delicious! The chicken is equally delicious....you won't be disappointed with the food choices. And also reasonably priced. We will definitely use Melrose again. I needed a full service caterer, at an affordable price and quickly for a memorial service luncheon. I reached out and connected with Stephen. He was extremely responsive and worked with my needs. I ordered the sandwich buffet, 1/2 pasta salad and 1/2 potato salad, and fruit. In lieu of the cookies, I added a veggie tray. A contract was written up, and Stephen suggested a server. This was exactly what I needed! A bonus: this also included utensils, plates, and napkins. I literally did not need to think of anything. The food arrived while we were at the funeral mass. I came home to the food set up, and the server Michael helping everyone along. Michael was superb! He not only helped with the food, he added ice to our drink buckets, bussed the tables, took trash out, and packaged all leftovers. Extremely friendly and he knew exactly what needed to be done. The only reason I didn't give a 5-star was because the actual pasta salad was a little bland. I also wish I would have known exactly what kinds of sandwiches were going to be prepared, but the smooth process from beginning to end was worth using Melrose Catering again. read more

Melrose catering was amazing!! I had my wedding back in May 2024 in Brea ca and the food was delicious! Our meal consisted of braised short ribs, chicken piccata, veggies and roasted potatoes. On Saturday, May 18, 2024, we celebrated my in-laws 50th anniversary at the Westridge Golf Club. We tried several catering companies, but received numerous recommendations for Melrose Catering. My in-laws and I attended a taste testing session and were impressed with the raspberry vinaigrette salad with candied walnuts and crumbled feta cheese, mashed potatoes and chicken Piccata. Unfortunately, the day of the event the food ended up looking horrible and tasting even worse. The chicken was dry, lacked flavor, and had minimal piccata sauce. My salad leaves were wilted, it had one walnut and a couple of specs of feta cheese. I had to soak my chicken and salad with the raspberry vinaigrette because it was so dry and tasted that bad. The dinner roles were stale and hard as rocks, which also had to be smothered in butter for taste. My daughter's chicken was not fully cooked properly and was pink when she cut it in half. My wife emailed Stephen Cameron from Melrose catering who simply stated "We only drop off the food, you should talk to the vendor at the Westridge about presentation." He took no responsibility and stated "I had two other events that night and was complimented on how good the food tasted. I attended one of the two events." Not surprised that the business took no responsibility, but not surprised that the Westridge switched to a different catering business and no longer works with Melrose catering. We were the last event at the Westridge that hired this catering company. Definitely would not recommend this catering business to anyone, especially at $65 a plate. Sir, again you take no responsibility for your service! The plating of the food was only one of my complaints. The main complaint was the chicken was dry and other guests that attended the event were in concurrence. My daughter who sat next to me showed me her chicken and it was semi-pink and obviously undercooked. The Westridge may have plated the food, but the responsibility ultimately falls on your company to ensure the FOOD YOU PROVIDED is properly stored and plated to your standards. I guess my expectations of a catering business that's been established for 27 years would be more responsible for the service they provide. I can assure you that we spoke to Michelle at the venue and stated our disappointment with your food. I don't know of another vendor who just drops off their product and then claims "It's not my problem." I'm glad you posted on Yelp so other customers can read your thoughts and policy. read more

It was almost ridiculous to think I could find a caterer who on such short notice would provide my requested menu of prime rib and lobster with scalloped potatoes, a none boring salad and bread with dessert.......right after thanksgiving and just before xmas. Also I needed this caterer to provide 2 professional servers, table cloths for the serving area tables, provide plates silverware in actually 13 days. Yep and not have the lobster be rubbery and the prime rib, well had to be perfect as well for 50 people under 7k. But I did just that. I was so lucky, truly blessed to find Melrose Catering in Brea. I had one shot at making this little shin dig happen with having my late husbands favorite plate served up perfectly to 50 of his closest pals who showed up on short notice as well. This I did in hopes of making my husbands untimely death more manageable by feeding people at his celebration of life whatever you call it ...a selfish thing i guess you could say. Ultimately, it did do what I had hoped, serving complimentary meals, taking care of bar tabs....at his service made me feel ever so slightly better when nothing did and still doesn't about losing my loved one. Melrose catering charged me very reasonably, the food was amazing and bountiful. Quite frankly it was one of the best meals that I can remember having served in this way. The servers were on time, they set up quickly all of the equipment, etc. The dessert platters were so colorful and varied ....definitely a hit with guests as well. I cannot recommend anyone better to ensure that whatever your function requires on short notice even, than Melrose of Brea. One more thing I feel compelled to add being communication with your caterers is of utmost importance and I thru emails and some texts ....a phone call maybe 2 at the most, couldn't have asked for more ....timely, succinct, clear and most courteous were all of my exchanges it was wonderful. Stellar services from beginning to the end when lock shock barrel they picked everything up and left all perfectly cleaned as well....I highly recommend Melrose catering of Brea. read more

I had a good experience working with Stephen for my wedding. The food was good and my guests liked the appetizers as well. However, I was super disappointed with the service. I had 260 guests, Stephen assured me my guests were going to be taken care of, but throughout the dinner portion of my wedding, me and my husband kept getting complaints about the waiters. Dinner was being served from 5pm-7pm, At 5:30pm One waiter told multiple guests that they were no longer going to be serving food, why? I am not sure, but I had to get up and resolve that. Another waiter would not provide my guests with napkins when asked. Someone in my bridal party asked for more soda and the waiters said that there was no more, when in fact the fridge and a rack on the kitchen was full of soda. I had to have my husband go into the kitchen and grab it himself and only then did the waiter start replenishing the pitchers of soda. It was really frustrating and embarrassing. The worst part of all, I had one guest who was vegan so I spoke to Stephen weeks prior to the wedding and he was to make sure that the waiter served the vegan meal to that guest. I gave him the floor plan, table number where the vegan plate was going and name of the guest. Well my guest didn't eat because they never got their vegan meal. When I spoke to Stephen he said that the waiter did not know who the meal was going to and they don't serve plates to empty seats. The table was not empty and if they would have asked they would have known who the plate was for. I am a very understanding person and know that it could have been overwhelming but for the same reason I spoke to Stephen and even said I would pay more for more servers and he again assured me they would be on top of it all. For the price, this was not okay. It hard to trust people in this industry because so much planning and effort goes into this for this to happen. read more

I'm not sure I can add anything to the already amazing reviews below, but I'll sure try! I had a group of 30 people coming from out of town that needed dinner every night for a week straight, and finding a caterer that could provide different meals each night for that number of people was a challenge. When I found Melrose Catering online and reached out, Stephen was very quick to respond and provide me with a large amount of options for each night. Through working with him and his team, we were able to curate a vastly unique menu for each night while also catering to a few gluten-free and vegetarian members of my group. Throughout the week, some of the items we had for dinner were: orange ginger salmon, fried chicken & waffles, korean short ribs, chicken empanadas, paella, flat iron steaks, salmon picatta, and tri-tip. NONE of these items disappointed in the slightest! There was not any food item all week that anybody disliked, and nobody had a single bad word to say. To the contrary, everyone in my group (myself included) was incredibly impressed by dinner every single night. I was expecting to not enjoy at least one side or dessert item, but there was truly nothing even mediocre the entire week. Each item, whether it was a main dish, side/appetizer, or dessert, was full of flavor, served very hot, and cooked perfectly! In terms of communication, Stephen and his team made us feel like we were the only group that mattered, although I know they had different orders during our week of catering. Stephen responded to my (very many) texts/emails/calls incredibly quickly, and delivery was perfectly executed every night. Overall, I could not recommend Melrose Catering any more for whichever event you may have! read more

Delivery was on time and they were patient enough for us to set up our chaffing dishes since I didn't have them ready. Very nice and helpful even with a drop off. Each year I host a Client Appreciation Party (I'm a Realtor) and I've used a couple of other caterers over the past 5 years. Wanting to change things up, I went in search of a new caterer for the event and was met with the usual frustrations of people not calling me back regarding my inquiry. Even caterers I'd been referred to by past clients of theirs did not get back to me in a timely manner. This always makes me nervous when dealing with someone, I want someone I can count on. After seeing the great reviews on-line for Melrose Catering I decided to give them a try. Though I could have asked for it based on the size of my party, I did not take the time to request a tasting. We had selected the holiday Italian buffet and figured, "really, how could anyone screw up Italian food?" Let me tell you, these folks did not disappoint. From beginning to end the experience was everything I had hoped it would be. Justina took my calls and always returned information and calls in a timely manner. Stephanie, who delivered the food the day of the event, was helpful and flexible in working with us and our set up to make it great. The food was delicious!! So many guests came to tell me how great it was and ask who had done the catering. (Next time, Stephanie will have to remember to leave off some business cards ... but my clients all know they can call me any time for a great referral, so I know those who are interested in booking them will call me for their number.) If I had any disappointment at all, it was that they had originally told me they would pick up their stuff the following morning, but at the last minute I was told they were super busy and would need to pick up the same night of the party. That meant they came in at the tail end of the party and were cleaning up while I still had a few guests at the house (lucky for me, my clients are awesome and they jumped in to help us box up the left over food). My husband and I were looking for a catering company we could use for our wedding. We found Melrose Catering on Yelp and we are SO thankful we chose them. We reached out to Laura and set up a tasting appointment. They were responsive and we were able to find a time that worked with all of our schedules. We tried 6-7 hors d'oeuvres, two main entrees, bread, and salad as part of our tasting. They were all so delicious it was tough choosing which ones we wanted at our wedding. We ended up getting the bruschetta and chicken empanadas for our tray-passed hors d'oeuvres and the short rib & salmon for our main entrees. All of our wedding guests only had positive things to say about the food!
