This is just an update on how bad this company is and how they lie to their customers. I told the gentleman who owns the warehouse that my furniture should've been at, that Amy stated she went to the warehouse and that my furniture was not unloaded yet. Meanwhile, he stated that she was never there, that my item was not received, and that he gets this a lot from Melray's customers. So today I called Amy and I told her that I spoke to the gentleman at the warehouse and I told her exactly what the gentleman said. Amy tried to cover up and said it was another warehouse that she went to that had my furniture and that she took a picture of my sectional while she was there but when i asked for her to send me the picture she refused. So I did a second follow-up and called craftmaster and spoke to them, they explained they can't give too much info but what they could say is that the sectional was not shipped, was nowhere ready to ship out, and wasn't even paid for by Melray's yet. I was also told that they get a lot of calls from Melray's customers complaining about the same situation as well. The only way that I found any of this information out was by doing my own research and contacting everyone. If I trusted Amy saying my furniture was there who knows what would have happened (especially since I was told they didn't pay for it yet but had my money). This place is a SCAM and who knows what they would've done with my money if I kept listening to Amy. I wish I can post this review with 0 stars! read more

Sad to give this place zero stars. Lied to on several occasions, no follow up, the process from start to finish is completely broken. What a shame as I know this is a family ran business that will not last much longer. The worst part was the lies. My set was damaged, waited serval weeks for a touch-up. Since that was too difficult they offered a replacement, took another few weeks. Was supposed to get updated and never did. I lost it when I called to follow up on the replacement delivery and Amy acted like she had no idea she thought that someone was at my home to deliver the replacement set the day before, when in fact no one was there! How you are the owner and not know this? she schedules the deliveries!... When they did finally come (a week later) they delivered the wrong items!! Don't waste your time, you can find the same items on furniture land south with much better customer service. I am in sales and customer service and I'm actually embarrassed on their behalf. Manager Buddy is the only one there who knows how to communicate and the only one who knows how to get anything done. Salespeople/delivery guys were responsible for too many lapses in communication that I ended up having to work to resolve. Take pictures of all tags and invoices. Read everything closely. The quality may be good but the service is unratable. I order my furniture in 7/23 never got it until 10/15. Sofa color and pillows we not what I ordered. I decided to keep the sofa but wanted the correct pillows. They told me it would be in, in 2 weeks. I called after 3 weeks to follow up, was told it would be in Wednesday and I could pick up or express mail. All the time I made 5 calls to follow up. No one from the store ever called about by delayed furniture. It's December 9 and I guess my pillows were sent to the North Pole. Still no call about the incorrect pillows. PLEASE READ!!!! BEWARE!! I would give 0 stars if possible! LIARS! Awful business ethics. Should have know by what happened when we went to place our order, but unfortunately still placed it. Were given a price for sofa, love seat, chair and ottoman and 4 weeks delivery. Went there the following week to place the order, spent over an hour picking out fabrics, and was then told the ottoman was not part of that deal (when it DEFINITELY was). Was ready to walk out, but they then said they would honor the price. Go to sign the order and it says 8 weeks, we said they told us 4 and they said it would definitely be here in 4 to 6 weeks. 7 weeks later no furniture! Call and they tell me the order just left the manufacturer Klaussner, but they were not given an arrival date from them so they couldn't give me any sort of timeline as to when I would get my furniture. Sounded shady so I went right to Klaussner for answers. They tell me that no orders have shipped to Melray's from them since 11/19 and there were no open orders with my furniture in them. I call Melray's to ask for an update on my furniture, they give me more BS, so I hit them with the fact that I called the manufactured themselves and know they are lying. So now in comes AMY, the manager and owners daughter. She gives me her dramatic act of how furious she is that such lies were told to me by the Klaussner Supervisor of Customer Service (like why would she lie) and says she is going to get to the bottom of it and she can prove it is a lie because my furniture is in and I was actually going to be getting a call from the delivery service they use on Mon. or Tues. to set up delivery. Mon. no call, so Tues. I call and Amy tells me that the deliverers would be calling some time later that day. Well at like 6 Amy calls to set up delivery when all along they have been saying they don't do that there service does all that. So she sets up delivery with me for that Sat. between 9 & 11. Although I knew this was probably going to be BS, I was hopeful. I even have a text message from the following day to a friend stating that I bet I would get a phone call Saturday giving me a reason the delivery couldn't be made. Here comes the best part of the story.... Sat. morning arrives and I get a text message from Amy stating that the warehouse flooded and my furniture has been damaged! Shocking I know! She says she is headed to the warehouse and will contact me from there. I tell her I would like pictures as proof when she gets there and she tells me no problem. She texts me that she is there and sends me a picture, not of furniture, but of a flooded warehouse. I google "flooded warehouses" and find the picture she sent me. I call her out on this and then she tries to blame that on the person from the warehouse. She then sends me a screenshot of the text he supposedly sent her but she forgot to crop it and I can see that it is a picture that she sent herself. She then of course tries to make up more BS. That same day I was telling this story to people at an event I was at and someone there says as soon as they hear me saying that all morning I was dealing with a problem with Melray's they say, "Let me guess!! AMY???" They said they had been dealing with them and her lies since 9/19!!!! And in fact the last part of their order was finally supposed to arrive that day!!! Shockingly they did not get any call saying they weren't getting their furniture cause the warehouse flooded! I guess they actually finally had their furniture after 6 months and didn't have to make up some BS story to them!!! Amy continued to tried to lie and lie some more to cover up her lies. She must normally get away with this type of BS, but this time she was lying to the wrong person! I caught her and called her out on all of them, and she would just try to lie some more to cover up the other lies. She kept saying she would prove things but there was never any, and the 2 things she showed me as proof I was able to disprove. She will NOT admit her lies and just talked about how great she was trying to fix things. Melrays was recommended to us by the owner of a large, independent bedding store in Hackensack. We just bought a sofa and two living room chairs there (delivered to us a few days ago in May, 2013). The store is huge with a deep and varied selection of items and manufacturers. We did not find any other store in Bergen county with as great as a selection as Melrays -- it's comparable to the old Huffman Koos which used to be off of Kinderkemack which you may remember. The staff is helpful and Amy in particular was of tremendous help to us -- she has a decorator's eye and knows the stock extremely well. We visited them 3 times before deciding what to get and saw three different salespeople and she was the most helpful for people like us who don't have a natural eye for this sort of thing. I would ask for her again Now, that said, the store itself is tired looking and could use a decorator. Although the selection is like the old Huffman Koos -- that store was beautifully decorated whereas Melrays looks like it hasn't been updated in years. The merchandise is all fresh and new but the store looks old, tired and in need of fresh paint, new carpets, wall decorations, etc. I don't understand it and that's why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. We went to several places in search of a dining room set and a bedroom set for my daughter. Every place we went to the stuff was low quality and did not offer a lot of variety. She then told me it was actually a mistake that she mixed up her personal pillows with my custom pillows when taking out of the trunk of her car. Is she serious? The stories she comes up with. We looked at brands and styles of sofas on-line, then went into the store. The sales rep said that they couldn't do that; that we had to choose for catalogs in the store. He steered us toward Kincaid; it was sort of bait-and-switch. On the bill he wrote "6-8 weeks" for delivery. That was January 15th. We received the sofas on May 11th, 4 months later!, after many outrights lies were told to us. And the furniture is just OK; not great. We'll just have to live with it. read more

I have been shopping at Melray's off and on for the past 14 years; Tim Moran who to me is one of the most professional salesman at the store has been excellent. I can call on the phone prior to going to the store and give him an idea of what I am looking for. He knows my taste in furniture quite well and always manages to steer me to exactly what I want. He also keeps me updated on items that I have special order due to delay by manufacturer or if they are closed for a few weeks. For me I get top notch service read more

I have been shopping at Melray's since 2000 when I bought my first house and needed a bedroom set. Since then I have never had an issue until now. In April I bought a bedroom set and a dining room set at the same time. When I bought both sets I specifically mentioned that I was moving out of state at the end of June so I would need the furniture no later than mid June. Ok no problem. Well, I received the bedroom set on moving day and it remained in the boxes. Turns out the moving company would not assemble the furniture because they didn't dis-assemble from the beginning. Also my dining room set had come in but the buffet was damaged but table and chairs were fine. So I was given the choice of getting the table and chairs on moving day or have everything delivered to my new house. I went with option 2. After 2 months of calling every other week for status with no return calls (maybe 3) I finally received my dining room set, that by the way I was paying for, but the freight company was not allowed to bring the boxes upstairs. They were nice enough to put in my garage. I called Melray's to let them know it arrived but that everything was in my garage. Amy said they were supposed to but that she would make a phone to get this resolved. Guess what? I never received a phone call to at least give me a status. My husband and I bought up the table and chairs and assembled it. We were not waiting any longer. In all of this we never received some kind of discount or even an apology. I always recommended Melray's to friends and family but it takes only one bad situation to say "never again". read more

My family has been doing business with Melrays for years. From experience, we know that it can take 6-10 weeks to receive your furniture and that is not a problem. We were always happy with the quality of the furniture so it was worth the wait. The problem my family had was that they lied about when our furniture would be on the truck and did not call back when promised. First, we were supposed to receive it mid-April then it was the last week of April and now it's the third week of May. I finally received my furniture 13 weeks after I ordered it. To top it off Amy made it seem like they were doing us a favor by having the delivery men come in on their day off. If they just kept us informed and explained why there was a delay it wouldn't have been an issue. My parents had a minor issue last time they bought furniture there so unfortunately this will be that last time that we shop there. read more

Every time I have been in the market for new furniture, Melray's has helped me select the perfect pieces to create the look I wanted. My style has changed from more traditional, to modern and most recently to industrial chic and with each change Melray's has met the challenge. Melray's has a huge selection within the store but if for some reason you aren't able to find the perfect piece you are looking for they are great at suggesting unique pieces (I have a mirrored jewelry armoire that I love!). Had a furniture delivery last month and while getting the furniture to the 2nd floor they marked up the walls so badly that I had to get a painter in to fix what they messed up. I made sure I moved everything in there way (pictures, furniture...). After confronting them they denied it and said they would come over to clean it. After several calls and stopping payment on the credit card they finally agreed to pay 1/2 of the repair bill. My experience with them was not pleasant to say the least. read more

We have purchased all our furniture with Melray's over the years. Dining room, living room, family room, bedroom, kitchen ...all of it. The quality is outstanding and the prices are unbeatable (I've tried). I have read a lot of negative reviews about the customer service and I think that needs to be addressed. The last purchase was a custom couch, which Tim and Amy both helped me design through multiple visits to the store, they had a lot of patience with me! This was supposed to be in 6-8 weeks from the order date. At 6 weeks I called and the store said it would be shipping. They later called back and said there was something wrong at the manufacturer and it was delayed. I was disappointed given I was hosting a holiday and really needed a couch. Melrays delivered a "loaner" couch that I kept until my couch arrived. I don't know any furniture stores that would do that. That is true customer service. Melrays is a family owned business that works directly with manufacturers. I think it would be unrealistic to expect they keep tabs on every order. However if you call and ask, they get back to you with answers in a reasonable time frame (less than 24 hours which is completely acceptable). read more

DO NOT SHOP HERE!!!! I went here to buy a new bedroom set since it is close to where I live. Worst decision ever. I ordered my set back in November 2013 and was told it would take 8 to 12 weeks. Not a problem but it became a problem when 12 weeks past and still nothing. When I went back to check status of order they told me it should be here shortly within the next week. What a load of crap. My set did not get in until 17 weeks after I ordered it and when it finally came in it was incomplete. The chest I ordered came with a broken door. The delivery men said they have to take it back and get it fixed. Fine but it is now 3 months since the delivery and I still don't have my complete set yet I PAID IN FULL. Their customer service is horrible and they are full of shit spewing lies just to get rid of you. For instance when I inquired about my missing piece I was told it will be in by may. May came and went. I inquired about it again and was told that the piece was out of stock and won't be available until june. Huh really? Well June came and went and still NOTHING!!!! It is now freaking August and I am fed up. The last they told me is the piece is in and we even set up delivery but guess what....THEY DIDN'T SHOW UP. So I went back to set another delivery date but the person who handles that wasn't there but I was told they would call me to schedule. I'M STILL WAITING. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS. They clearly don't care and tell me lies to get rid of me. I want my fucking money back and I will never shop here again and will be submitting a complaint to the bureau of better buisness. read more
