After reading some of the negative reviews, we decided to give this restaurant a try. We purchased a Groupon for $25 dls, giving us $50 dls towards appetizers, calzones, pizza and salads. I guess bad experiences are always shared, unlike good experiences, that is why this place only has three stars. We ordered cheese bread, bruschetta, wings, Caesar salad, a pepperoni pizza and a chocolate brownie and only paid 5 dls extra; (besides tip, of course) The restaurant was busy for a Tuesday afternoon, but we received good service. I forgot the name of our waitress, but she was attentive and checked on us regularly. Wings were crispy, a great choice. Nothing bad to say, except the cheese bread was not the best, but will not order again, not a big deal :). read more

We love going to Mellow Mushroom every week but today was terrible. There was a huge table with about 12 people who were very rowdy and they kept walking around the restaurant with no masks on. Sure if you are at your table you can keep your mask off but this group kept getting up, going outside and to the bathroom and to chase their waitress down with no mask on. They had to have passed my table about 5 times. We hurried and ate and left. So disappointed none of the staff told them something. Now I am not sure if I want to go back read more

Place is awesome! The food is great! The drinks are strong! The staff is friendly and really nice. I had the thin crust pesto chicken pizza. I try not no eat that much pizza but this was delicious. I even licked my fingers. I highly recommend this place! read more

Nice selection of beers, large good burgers. John behind the bar was as pleasant and helpful as could be and it made for a nice vibe. Our first time here. We will be back. read more

Truly bleh food to me. The pizza and other pizza related dishes have always looked better on the menu than when presented in front of you. This place is somewhere to stop by for a drink or quick appetizer but nothing truly satisfying. I think food at a dive bar is better than this yet somehow when I come here I feel like I'm at one. Just not one I want to stay at. read more

I have ended up a regular here for lunch. Love the salads, the sandwiches and the Caesar Pizza is a guilty pleasure!! The tangerine/strawberry black ice tea is refreshing and they always give me a togo cup when I leave. :) (its the little things that count!) Nice place to chill have a beer and some fresh food. I was surprised at the beer selection I really wasn't expecting much but was pleasantly surprised! I enjoy the staff and have always gotten good service. and YUP.... I'll be back! ;) read more

Never had a bad experience at mellow. Food is always delicious and they always have new iced drinks for me to try. Their Parmesan pretzels and marinara sauce are to die for and the pizza is amazing! read more

We are creatures of habit when we show up to mellow mushroom. Our go to appetizer is consistently the meatball trio, pretzel bites, and of course Thai chili wings! Yesterday we were especially hungry after a day on the lake so we ordered a large pizza to be able to have leftovers. Service was crazy fast and he was so friendly and bubbly especially for being a Sunday evening. We are regulars at the ahwatukee location and this location proved to be near perfect also. I cannot get enough Thai chili sauce so make sure to order one on the side to dunk your pizza crust in, you can thank me later! read more

My husband and I went to Mellow Mushroom for the first time last week because we had a Groupon for $10 off. We were impressed with the service Evan, our waiter, gave us, as we had to be in and out in about 30 minutes and he made it happen despite the little league team that had come in just before us. The food itself was, for the most part, great. We shared a chopped salad with the house vinaigrette which was quite good, but I little expensive at $8.49. Since we split it, though, the per person cost wasn't terrible. What really surprised us though was the price for the pizza. Normally we like to order the equivalent of a Margherita Pizza (fresh mozzarella, fresh basil and tomatoes), but were dismayed not to see this on the menu and thus had to build our own. To our astonishment both fresh basil and mozzarella were "double ingredients", which would have caused our total to be $21.74 before tax for a 14" medium traditional Margherita. Wow. We ended up opting just for the fresh basil, nixing the tomato and fresh mozzarella, to bring the pre-tax pizza total to $16.17--still expensive, but what the heck, we had a Groupon! The most disappointing part was, when we got the pizza, the amount of fresh basil that was on it was barely close to covering, maybe an average of 6-8 small half-inch slivers per piece, even though we paid over $3 for it (which honestly would have bought us a full basil plant!). Despite that, the overall taste was great. We really enjoyed the buttery/flaky crust and the sauce was just the right amount of sweet with a touch of tangy to it. Overall, we had a good experience. The food, while a little overpriced, was quite enjoyable. Mellow Mushroom really has the potential to be one of our local favorites, but until we see a little more value for the money we're paying for our ingredients, we may only be back the next time we see another Groupon deal pop up. read more

Mellow Mushroom Phoenix - Overall good pizza, but they really scrimped on the basil, especially given it was a $3 topping! - Pizza Near Me - Phoenix, Arizona

Came in for a table of five with no wait time. Great food and our server John did an AMAZING job with all the orders (we had several different orders, several different times) and John did it all from the top of his head! No notepad or nothing! Very great service 10/10 read more

I am never disappointed with the food or drink! My favorite pizzas are the great white and the thai pizza! So good! They have a great selection of beers too. The only reason why I dinged them on one star is because sometimes the service is not great. Sometimes they don't refill water or check on you much. But the pizza and beer are so great that this is our go to pizza place! read more

This was our first and last time at the restaurant. We arrived early for the lunch hour at 11:20 with a very light crowd. Put our order in and watched as others got served. 2-3 people cooking and only 2 wait staff as the restaurant starts to full up. Noticed around noon more staff show up and restaurant is mostly full.still waiting. No one came over and apologized for the long wait nor did we think they noticed. Finally went up and requested just the kid meal for our grandson and then we'll leave. Our meal showed up after the backlog at the kitchen at 12:20!!! Poor service and extensive wait times. Food totally not worth it. Hope they get their act together for the sake of their customers but doubt it. read more

Highly disappointed. My friend and I were visiting the area and came here excited to try out this place and were very disappointed. I would not recommend, but if you go BEWARE. I'll keep it short...the pricing on the pizzas - ridiculous and might I add the food wasn't even that good. Not to mention the first time we received our food we had to send it back because it was black burnt - gotta love the waitress for trying to explain to us that the whole bottom and top wasn't burnt. Then, you add the service into factor and this place is by far one of the worst experiences I've had in a restaurant setting in a longgg time. I even had to have a manager visit our table to see if he could grab us the check because we hadn't seen our waitress in a long time. I gave 2 stars because the manager blessed us with a freebie and apologized for the inconvenience. You be the judge, don't say I didn't warn ya! read more

We are so used 2 to spending 15 to 20 bucks on a large pie, We were little surprised on a meat pizza for thirty bucks, but it was well worth the money extremely flavorful plenty of toppings, wings are $11 for ten wings they are meaty and have a dry rub on them. Service was solid overall very good experience. read more

Like usual, I came in late and there were very few stores open. I thought I give mellow a shot. Ordered the meatballs and the stuffed portobellos. Uggg when they say mellow they weren't kidding. It's equivalent to no flavor. I took a bite of the meatballs and said no thank you, not wasting my calories on this. The stuffed portobello also was lackluster in the flavor department. read more

Visiting my brother-in-law for a few days, we stopped in for a Sunday lunch hoping to catch a football game and some good grub before we left. Good grub, check, football, notsomuch. I'll explain. All the TV's at the Mellow Mushroom are packed around the bar area, which is to one side of the restaurant, and none of them really point into the dining room. So if you have a larger party, it isn't really ideal for watching the game. But this was the sole area of disappointment. We started out with two appetizers: a toasted bread with a cheesy olive spread on top, and a plate of pretzels with beer cheese. The bread wasn't really my thing (not an olive fan), but the pretzels and cheese were top notch. The beer cheese is a melted cheese sauce that goes great with the salty, hot pretzels. They have a bunch of local and regional beers, and our waitress had no problem letting me sample a few because I wasn't familiar with any of them being Cali born and raised. I don't remember what I ordered, but it was a dark red IPA that was cold and refreshing on an August day in Phoenix. We ordered two pizzas; a mushroom pizza and a meat pizza. I was surprised to find that I preferred the mushroom pizza, but then considering the name of the joint, it was probably a good call. The waitress had bragged about the pizza dough earlier, and I tuned out what she was saying because, you order pizza for the toppings, not the dough, right? Well, ideally, the dough accents the topping perfectly. I think they put molasses in it or something, maybe it is wheat based. It's good though, and I might eat that dough by itself. Great overall, good service, and I look forward to coming across the Mellow Mushroom again. read more

Mellow Mushroom is the best! They always have such good service and they come to check on you every few minutes. They are so friendly and the food is AMAZING! The pizza crust is so thick and doughy and the gluten free is the best around! The appetizers are amazing with my personal favorite being the pretzel bites and the wings are also great. This place is clearly here to make money and not wanting to spend anything on upkeep. The seats were ripped, and I'm not talking about a small tear, this was a gaping whole. The food came out and the plate had a large chip in it, we told the waitress and she just dismissed us. I looked up and all the vents, pipes and decorations were completely filthy. When it was time to pay, the booklet the receipt came in was falling apart. The food was very good though, but you have to think if they dont care about the appearance, how well do the make sure the food is being handled correctly. A recommendation would be to upkeep your restaurant and you could get 5 stars all day long. read more

I recently visited Mellow Mushroom out in Deer Valley for the first time. I was pleasantly surprised with how great their pizza was! Very cool location in the little outdoor mall area that have created on Happy Valley Road. The wait staff was awesome and very helpful with getting us seated right away. We tried the pretzel bites and bbq wings as appetizers. The were both delicious. The wings had great flavor. The pretzel bites had a nice cheese on the side that was really great. We then also ordered the Meaty pizza. It was topped with bacon, ham, sausage, pepperoni and a few other types of meats. I loved the thicker crust! It was a really great pizza for our first time visiting. We also used a groupon deal too. Very easy to use and the waiter made the adjustments to our bill very quickly. I look forward to coming back! read more

Love MM! Got the gluten free version of the house special tonight. While it was still tasty and had crispy crust, the crust was very thin and different from the regular MM crust I know and love. Pizza!! Who doesn't like pizza?? My coworkers and I probably came here a bazillion of times. Every time we came we had an excellent experience. The place is always kept clean and orderly, the staff here is always happy and friendly and super attentive. The service is always reasonable, and the food is amazing! We usually order a cheese pizza and a meatball sub to share. Both are amazing. And there sodas are amazing!! Taste just like everywhere else that sells them! Their silverware is amazing! Always clean and spotless and metal looking! Absolutely brilliant... Bathroom is always clean and well kept, props to the workers, and the tables... absolutely stunning, and the wood?? High quality, all organic wood indeed! And the brownies.... amazing! Overall a great place, a fun place, a place with good food. Will definitely be back for more. read more

My first time here and I have to say that it was an awesome experience. We were a large party of 20+ and all our orders were correct and our drinks were always full. The food was phenomenal! Pizza, calzones and wings were great! Makes me wish there were more than 2 locations. My wife is allergic to dairy and they had vegan options on the menu which meant for a wonderful meal for my wife. Even the picky kids loved the pretzel bites and pizza. All in all, one of the best white pizzas I've had in years. read more

I've been wanting to try this place and finally did for lunch. I had a salad but the pizza looked pretty good. The salad was good and very filling. From the outside the place doesn't look very big, but once you go in, it is pretty open with plenty of seating. The staff was friendly and the food service was quick for a work lunch. I hope to go back and try a pizza and some beer. The prices seemed reasonable and the lunch menu was a good option. My friends who had pizza said it was good. The restaurant was pretty clean. This would be a great place to go before heading to a movie or after, as it is close to a movie theatre. Thanks for the great salad and service. Very okay. It was very busy but we got our food to go and it took about 30 minutes for a pizza and salad. The pizza was wayyyy too cheesy. Like so cheesy sometimes you wouldn't even get any dough with your bite. The crust was delicious, the wheat dough is tasty. We got a "build your own" large pizza and got tomato and pepperoni and a large Caesar salad. The salad was very underwhelming as for $10 I would expect a little bit more- barely any cheese on it and croutons, I would skip that if you want to order it. They seemed to have a good beer menu written on the chalk board so many next time we will eat in but ask for light cheese and for go the salad. read more
