This cafe is located inside the historic four-star luxury Battle House Renaissance Mobile Hotel & Spa. Therefore, it's a hotel bar with a nicer, more generic feel to it, unlike several of the divier places in downtown Mobile that have more character. The server/bartender here was warm and welcoming, and she served us with a smile. The cafe does not have its own restroom. Instead, I was directed to the Royal Street Tavern's restroom. It was full so I used the larger restroom downstairs. It had just been cleaned (this was around 6:40pm on a Saturday) so that was nice. The cafe is named after Joseph Stillwell Cain Jr., the Mobile native credited with reviving the city's Mardi Gras celebration after the Civil War in 1866.

These are really good, and they have a few variations. Highly recommend. The wings, I had traditional, my wife had boneless were great. I would order them any time. Th location is connected to Fat Al's, so you have the ability to order from a really cool hamburger joint, which you walk through on the way to Grizzly's. I have heard great things about it, we have not tried it yet. There are lots of TV's if you want to go for a game. Our server was amazing and took great care of us. We asked her about the drink selection only because we sat at the bar, and - well - there was no alcohol, except for a premixed margarita bottle, and one selection if you wanted wine. She explained they were still in the process of getting the liquor license situated, so if that is important to you, you might want to call ahead and check. She was very professional, super friendly, and we enjoyed having her serve us all night long. Across the board it was a very lively atmosphere that everyone seemed to enjoy. Also, on weekdays you can order pizza by the slice for lunch!! Pretty cool. AND you can eat in Grizzly's and order burgers from Fat Al's!!

Friday night and the Pugterrier family looking for an easy dinner option. Haven't been to Beef's in…read morea few months and the menu offers something for everyone. Pulled up and noticed signs stating no alcohol available. Well, so much for Lil Pug getting a Sangria fun drink as she calls it. Maybe 3 other tables occupied and Todd's name off door as owner, hmmm. Greeted quickly by new face and seated. Menus are now ink jet printer single page not the laminated multi page with pictures previous. All the sport memorabilia missing as well as video game room now vacant. As someone who ate here the first week this place opened years ago tonight was weird, almost like a complete relaunch, with old furniture. Our waitress Brittany was new, and let us know tonight was her first night after completing training. Brittney did a fine job of taking care of us. Food was typical Beefs, wings were good, fish and chips were, well frozen fish and chips. This was a straight up average experience. Would have been better had the Sangria been available, and maybe the decor up. The inflatable crawfish in the corner was weird and not very "sports bar" oriented, not a problem but weird just the same. The trip to the bathroom to wash my hands was a little scary, and Lil Pug said the ladies room was N A S T Y ! I suppose with the dinner "crowd" the folks didn't have time to do a little cleaning. I would suggest that the new owner be present on a Friday evening and maybe even introduce themselves to the few customers that do have. The previous owners always made me feel welcome and were on the scene to make sure it was all good. I suppose the changing of hands in the last few months will either help or hurt this spot. As of now, it's not looking good. This seems to be an absentee owner franchise now and, well that's a dime a dozen in the area and the on site owner made it stand out. At least the Ruby Tuesday across the street is so bad they get that business. I am not sure if we will go back. EDIT: woke up this morning with upset stomachs for all who ate wings, maybe just a coincidence. Went to update review and notate this and found reply from owner. Don't want to start a back and forth here but I believe the misunderstanding may actually be on your side. I understand the lack of alcohol during transition due to licensing, and that wasn't the problem. The lack of decor I was referring to was the sports memorabilia that was previously hanging and is now absent. If you were in the building last night Tara you were nowhere to be seen. Sorry, not trying to bust you on your response but it seemed more concerned with shooting down my issues than addressing them. I have spent who knows how much time and money in this house over the last decade or so, giving me a fairly honest view of what I saw different. It's OK to not have alcohol due to license and the lack of decor is understandable with the autographed pictures being kept by the folks that own them, but if the OWNER was in the place the bathrooms should have at least been cleaner than the ones at the gas station across the street. Also noticed not one but 3 fresh 5 star reviews this morning by some 1 review posters made around opening. Are you getting staff to try to offset a couple bad reviews? Sure looks a little suspect to me. Maybe you could address issues instead of covering them like a cat in her box...

I was there on a work trip so it was nice to have someone friendly just to chat about the local area and stuff. Clark was also very welcoming behind the bar. I got nothing but good vibes since I walked in. The people in there all kind of knew each other, so it gave me a really good feeling of that local watering hole atmosphere that I knew from my home town when I was younger. The place also has an attached game room which looked fun if I come back with a group of colleagues next trip. The only delta I could give it is that it's not very walkable from downtown lol. But I definitely had an all around a good experience with decently priced beer to boot. Will definitely return and recommend to anyone else, and when it's not so rainy I'll check out the patio too.

I also told him I had pictures of the pizza. I waited 2 weeks before going back. today 9/27 I visit this location for a pizza, although the first guy was not at work I sit and prayed they would make it right this time. the pizza looked ok, I then order a peach cobbler order. another long wait, when I got in the car with my food, I looked at the peach cobbler and it was burnt so bad the peaches was black, the cobbler was dry and all I could do is revisited the pub. I told the cook I was very disappointed and couldn't believe they would give anyone something so bad. I also told him I didn't eat burnt food, he replied well I'll try to cook another and not burnt this time. by this time I had been there around 45 mins waiting on my food. I didn't feel I would be treated fairly without them putting something in my food that was not right so I just left. I didn't get my money back because I needed to leave. I don't eat meat and it's hard to find places with no meat on they menu. I will not visit this location anymore. I don't understand why they think people want to pay for burnt food. food cost to much for this and they really didn't care. I will keep looking for the right place to spent my money.
