We were so happy to see Mellow Mushroom in Auburn because our local one closed many years ago and we rarely get to go. We arrived on a Saturday night and despite being told there was a 25 minute wait for a table-we were seated in about 5 minutes, which was great. The beer selection wasn't as big as some Mellow Mushrooms and they were out of the cider I originally ordered..but we got drinks we liked. The pizza took a little long to come out but it our waiter gave us updates often so we never felt forgotten. The pizza was amazing. As Mellow Mushroom's pizza always is! I will always remember my first visit here: Funnily enough it was my first time visiting Auburn before moving here, and my allergies were going crazy. I had taken 2 Benadryl and decided to grab a bite to eat. Our server was great, very knowledgeable about my safe gluten free options, and super friendly. Unfortunately my Benadryl kicked in and I was half asleep barely able to keep my eyes open I could tell the server was probably wondering if I was ok, I was able to enjoy a slice while hot and it was so delicious but had to head back to the hotel to KO anyway by the time I woke up to eat the rest it was cold and no way to warm it but it was still delicious! I came in here in the summer on a Friday at 5:30. Thought it would be slower as it's a college town. The place was packed. It's celebrating its 50-year anniversary and after dining there, you can see why. First off, I love the physical interior space and ambiance. Long dining area with two different bars. I was sat at the back bar which is cool because you get a great view of the kitchen. Service was excellent. Seemingly no staffing problems and everyone was working well together. Good flow, no yelling. My server was super nice and attentive. I uploaded more menu pictures than normal as they have a special 50-year anniversary menu that does not seem to be on Yelp yet. Ordered wild leap IPA and Greek salad and both were great. The real star however was the super pepp pizza which was literally the best pepperoni pizza I have ever had in my life. The stone baked crust is perfect -- crunchy and fluffy. Then tons of pepperoni with sweet red peppers, a bit of honey and dollops of cold ricotta cheese combined with the melted mozzarella make the perfect pizza. I said this to the server and she and another server said it was their favorite too. An absolute must try. Keep up the great work here!!! read more

When dining in Auburn, I've come to find that my favorite pizza spot downtown is Mellow Mushroom without a doubt. The large selection of sandwiches, salads, wings, and pizza is great and very tasty. However, it must be noted that if there's more than 15 people in the restaurant your food will take longer than an hour 100% percent of the time. Are they short staffed? Undertrained? Lacking urgency? Who knows - All I know is that they aren't getting it done in that department. Great food though. Edit: Check that - You would think anything that touches your mouth after an hour wait would be heaven on earth due to hunger, to say that that's far from the truth here is an understatement. read more

Our waitress was attentive but the kitchen was moving a little slow the night we were there. The manager did change the channel so we could watch the football game we wanted to which was awesome! I think this was the first ever restaurant I ate as an incoming freshman, many moons ago. It remained a favorite spot during my college days and we love popping in when we're in town. Even though we have a few Mellow locations where we live, this one always hits different. Our gluten free funky q pizza was delicious and consistent with among all locations. The food for the price is definitely not worth it. I would like to say our waiter was absolutely delightful, and did all she could do resolve the situation. However Mellow Mushroom Auburn is a definite skip if you're in the area. Management here is beyond a joke. To start the manger could invest in something called a razor, and try and look just ever so more professional. Now when I spend 60 dollars on 2 pizzas in an empty restaurant it should not take 45 minutes. Additionally the "cooks" I think are burning more than just pizzas. In conclusion if you're in the area I think the local gas station will have better pizza. read more

As an auburn alum I was exited to take my 8 year old for a nostalgic meal when visiting. We came in on a very busy Saturday but were seated quickly and served quickly. The inside was updated with fun bright murals on theme for the chain. The staff was nice and attentive. I got the Kosmic Karma and my husband got the Mighty Meaty. Both were the 10" which left plenty of leftovers for the next day. We also got the "pretzel" bites but I failed to read the description that said "our classic" dough and we were disappointed when regular bread bites came out. But the cheese dipping sauce was good. We were also underwhelmed by the kids French bread pizza. It was not in fact on French bread but instead on a hoagie. Overall a good experience though and would definitely go back. read more

Came in here quite excited since I haven't had Mellow Mushroom in a while, but was very disappointed. The service was honestly awful. Yes I was sat quickly, but it took 10 minutes for someone to come over and take my drink order, another 10 to receive drinks and a caesar salad which mind you, had no cheese, and the pizza itself took 25 minutes to come out. I ordered the buffalo chicken pizza. It was definitely a pizza but lacked the buffalo chicken; which honestly i'm not mad about because the chicken tasted like sink water.. kind of gummy and odd. Worst customer service experience I've ever had. One person in our party ordered the lunch combo and asked for a slice and a salad and the server put in as whole pizza for her order cause she "didn't understand" clearly their servers are not being trained properly. We also found out, after waiting an hour for our food that wasn't even correct, that one of the ovens wasn't even working. That's what you tell customers on the front end. Especially at lunch. "One of our ovens are down so I'm sorry the wait is going to be a little longer" it's all about communication and Mellow Mushroom doesn't have any of those skills. What made it worse, when talking to a manager about the issues he seemed to not care and then didn't check on us while we were trying to get our food and checks Togo. I had to hunt down another server to get my card back. After explaining my situation to her she gave us our cards back and didn't charge us. Idk who that girl was but put her in charge cause she has sense and the manager didn't even care. I will be calling Greg this weekend about my experience so hopefully he can make some changes. read more

I love Mellow Mushroom's specialty pizzas and they allow you do to half and half so you can try two different ones. My personal favorite is the Holy Shiitake and a lot of my friends complain at first because it doesn't have any meat on it but trust me its one of their best. It has black truffle oil and a garlic aioli which just absolutely make the pizza. Sometimes for the lunch special I will order my slice with mushrooms and that garlic aioli just so I can have the pleasure without having to order a whole pizza :) They have an awesome selections of beers on tap here and their Monday night $3.00 pint special is worth it as long as you dont worry too much about your hangover at work on Tuesday. The servers here are really great and even when the restaurant is packed out you never feel like you are waiting forever for service. read more

One word: Great! When we walked in it was busy and hard to know if we seat ourselves or wait to be seated. The staff was extremely friendly and showed us to a seat after noticing we looked lost. Our waitress was friendly and very helpful. We ordered spinach & artichoke dip for an appetizer and a large specialty pizza, Pacific Rim. The dip came really fast and it was piping hot! So good. I wish the bread was a little crispier so it could be easier to dip, but otherwise it was good. The pizza came shortly after and it look so good I forgot to snap a picture before we dove in! Plenty of meat and cheese. The caramelized onions were great, i just wish there was more of them. The large was enough for 2 people and have leftovers. Ordered take-out with a calzone and pretzel bites with beer cheese. The actual rpetzel bites were just cut up pieces of crust, which was kind of annoying but I'm pretty sure that's what the menu said it was anyways. The beer cheese also tasted like just straight, thick beer. Most beer cheeses I've had at least kinda tasted like cheese lol. It wasn't that awful though, it eventually grew on me. The calzone was decent too - they took out sausage like I'd asked, but a lot of the calzone was nothing but crust for like 2.5" all the way around. I really have to praise the woman who took my order though - I'd accidentally double ordered because Yelp had given me a payment processing error. Both orders still went through, and I was still going to get charged for both if she hadn't called me and asked if it was intentional. Saved me $30! read more
