The rooms have clearly been updated while still keeping some of the original décor, which gives it a bit of charm. I had a partial ocean view from my balcony and it was perfect for relaxing and enjoying the breeze. The kitchen is small but worked great for my needs. There's no oven, but it does have a two-burner stove, microwave, sink for dishes, and about a 3/4-size fridge. It was stocked with all the dishes and utensils you'd need to cook a simple meal. Overall, it was comfortable, practical, and a great stay. I'll definitely be coming back.

Nice tub and sink/mirror area outside the bathroom. Our room was on the third floor so no balcony or patio like rooms on the first and second floors (there were sliding doors to get fresh air) with a great view of the ocean and sunrises. They provide beach chair and towels. They have a nice pool with plenty of lounge chairs and tables, but no hot tub. They also have a party room with a kitchen, tables, chairs, couches, bathrooms, games and books. There is an ice machine and a bbq grill area too. Our room had two TVs and free wifi. No "do not disturb" sign, so the maids woke me up almost every morning. They left clean towels and tp/Kleenex but never made the bed or did the dishes. They cleaned the bathroom though. There are good restaurants and shops nearby. Lots of shells on the beach. Plenty of large parking spots. Friendly employees.

The next day upon our arrival we had a last minute change of plans, because the room had a very limited direct ocean view and weather was going to be raining the whole time, so a balcony or direct ocean front view was a must. Kim was kind enough that she showed us 3 other alternatives available and offered us a full refund if we didn't like any. So we went somewhere else but the little tour we took and all the little amenities, beach chairs, towels, umbrellas, the pool, the bed in the room, jacuzzi bathtub, breakfast place, everything looked prestige!!!

Did I mention the private gazebo w/ 2 chairs, a short walk to the sandy beach? We stayed in room #3, 'Summer Garden' complete w/ a balcony facing the ocean. Breakfast was perfect, it was nice to order & not to settle for the host's 'creation', as in many B&B's. On the second morning Erika & Rachele served us breakfast, Rachele is from Maine & Erika is from RI. Erica does a perfect 'moon walk'! So much fun reminiscing about Maine. This could very well be the best B&B in the area Looking forward to seeing you all again!! xoxo

Holes in the arm of couch, rusted appliances. Oddly furnish with wooden dining room tables in a humid atmosphere, only two plastic placemats provided so hard to use table without leaving watermarks. Doors that stuck or were hard to open. One gate to the pool functioned so poorly that it often stayed open, a danger for families with young children. No response from management regarding that concern (an issue they could not possibly miss since their staff used that gate regularly). Ocean Front room had a gorgeous view but floor was constantly humid and slippery. Small deck was lovely but a source of frequent wildlife that easily ended up in the room. Huge tree frog in bedroom the first morning (4 inch diameter), crabs and lizards at other points in our stay. Unfortunately the only night we used the deck in the evening we found that there were rats, one of which was in the room residing under the dishwasher. Very disturbing. Very loose administratively, seldom anyone in the office during our 5 day stay. Very little written information regarding policies. No regular housekeeping or even trash pick up. No instructions on what to do with trash (verbal at check in or posted). Rare for anyone to answer the office phone. Clean towels "available in office" but there was seldom anyone in the office. Staff are "on site" on the property, but unless you know who they are by sight that's not much help. Phone numbers we were asked to provide for door codes were not programmed in as provided, causing a lot of confusion for our arrival after 5 pm. We stayed on after a three day family reunion only to be treated coldly because management was angry that, with no housekeeping or trash instructions, some rooms had been left with multiple bags of closed up trash bags and were not 'clean enough' when guests left from the family reunion. After the rat showed up in my room I was informed that a refund for even that one night would not be provided unless 'penalties applied to other rooms during the reunion the previous weekend were paid.' A very short sighted and inappropriate management decision. In addition a 'penalty' for smoking in one of the rooms the previous weekend was assessed to a room with non smokers. Although that penalty was probably appropriate if levied on the correct room, it was sloppy to levy it on the wrong room (which also happened to be the only room that had a mixed race family staying in it).

We could hear the ocean at night which was so relaxing. It is on a 5 lane road but the rooms sit back far enough that you couldn't hear the traffic at all (at least not in room 5). There is a kitchen with a table and 2 chairs. The cupboards had plates, glasses, silverware, pots/pans, etc. There is a small stove/oven and a hotel size refrigerator. It would have been nice to have a full size refrigerator. We would have been able to cook more meals if we would have had a larger fridge to store the food. There is also a small microwave. The living room had one chair, a small couch and a large tv. The bedroom was good sized. It had a queen size bed, a dresser and a small chair. It would have been nice to have a king size bed as that is what we have at home (that took a few days to get use to). And then there is a full bathroom off of the bedroom. It's a bit small and there is a pedestal sink so not a lot of room for hairbrushes/toiletries, etc. There are some small cubbies above the toilet though. The beach is very close to the rooms, maybe 40 feet away. The owners of this motel are super friendly. All in all, it was a very pleasant week there. We would definitely stay there again. PS - there is a fabulous restaurant directly across the street called The Blueberry Muffin that serves breakfast and lunch. It is a must!! Ask for your muffin to be grilled

Location - This hotel is located on a long strip of white, sandy beach between Cocoa Beach and Vero Beach. We loved that the resort sat right on the beach with rooms facing the ocean which allowed for breathtaking views of the Atlantic. Plenty of shopping and food choices are just up the road from this hotel and the Cocoa Beach area is not too far to the north if you are looking to do anything in that area. Rooms & Building - Rooms are all suites and are spacious. They reminded me of what you would find normally at an Embassy Suites. Each room offered a balcony that faced the ocean and the beach. The style and theme was modern nautical which fit the surrounding area. The room had a fridge and microwave and two bedrooms. The bathroom had a spacious rainfall shower. Amenities - The hotel has an outdoor pool & hot tub and large sun deck with multiple loungers. The pool was heated to a enjoyable temp and the hot tub had good jets. Access to the beach is just a short walk from the sun deck. You can purchase an umbrella and two chairs for $40 a day. Food - Like every Doubletree location, warm cookies are always available whenever you want. We were staying here during Valentine's Day and they offered a fun and creative date night menu. Food was good but it was a tad pricey. There was a pool bar that offered drinks and food. We liked the bucket drinks - great price and strong. Vibe - Easy going beach vibe from staff and customers. No complaints. Reality vs. Online - Pictures that I saw on their website and online matched the quality and condition of the hotel and rooms in-person. No surprises. Price & Final Verdict - This choice offers a great beach-centered hotel yet it is close enough for shopping, nightlife and food. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, so whether you are looking for a relaxing balcony or a sandy spot on the beach, this location offers a great choice for everyone.

Everything was great. We had a 7th floor balcony, with a king sized bed and a living room with a mini fridge and coffee maker. The views were breathtaking. Every room faces the ocean. The front door opened to a view of Indian river, So we got to see the sun set at our front door and the sun rise from our balcony. We even were lucky enough to catch a launch. Other than just steps away from the beach , they also have a pretty good size pool , hot tub and a tiki bar. I recommend bringing a couple of chairs for the beach, and save yourself a few bucks for chair rental. They also have a restaurant on the first floor. Breakfast is not included , even if you are a Hilton member. I was a little disappointed about that. But we did grab a burger and chicken sandwich , which were pretty good. Only a 2 hour drive from my front door, we will definitely look to book another room, the next Melbourne vacation we plan. Plenty of restaurants and things to do close by, including the Brevard Zoo, and a Indian River boat tour.

We stayed at the Hotel Melby for several nights during the holiday season while visiting family…read more(which means we'll likely be staying there again in the future, despite our experience). Even though it was the holidays, I think it must be the off season because it wasn't that busy at the hotel or anywhere in the area which, to me, seems like the staff should have been very attentive to the guests they had.If I could sum up our experience at the hotel in one word, it would be "disengaged." We felt it with almost every single staff member from the moment we walked in until the moment we left. The only exceptions were Lorin at the front desk on our last two days, who was extremely competent and should be given every promotion they have, and a young man from housekeeping. Every other staff member was consistently either talking with each other or friends who had stopped by the hotel or staring at their phones but not engaging with the guests. It happened at the valet stand, at the front desk the day we arrived (and the following two days), on the elevator and in the halls. We had the same experience with the restaurant staff but I reviewed that separately. Our first night, as we headed out for dinner, we asked the young woman at the front desk to have staff make up the sofa bed for our child. When we returned several hours later, we found a pile of pillows and blankets on top of the king size bed, but the sofa bed wasn't made up. We weren't even sure how to open the sofa bed and my husband had to go downstairs and ask. Every single day we were there, except one, our room wasn't made up by the time we came back in the evening, even though we had been out for hours. It was like they saw our do not disturb sign in the morning but never bothered to check if it was removed at some point later in the day. The one time it was made up, my husband had called about an hour in advance of us returning (around 4 p.m.) to ask if they had made up the room so there's a very real chance that it wouldn't have been made up that day, either. The other times, we had to hunt down a maid to make up the room or just gave up and asked for fresh towels. Not a single time that the room was made up did they make up the sofa bed, however. We always came back to a tangled pile of sheets and pillows that we had to remake. The room was spacious and beautiful (we really like the modern city loft-like feel), the bathroom was clean and modern, and the view was stunning. Those things all deserve 4 or 5 stars. However, I've been to hotels of all types in cities all over the world and this was absolutely the worst service I've ever experienced. Management needs to come in and completely overhaul their training methods. If management is the problem, then that should be addressed. The Melby should be the crown jewel of historic downtown Melby but with this level of service, it will never be.
