wow! flavors are 80% there and seemed like a decent asian turnout in the restaurant. i basically drove an hour to come get some decent asian food and i'm glad this place delivered. I got the bun bo hue; noodles are chewier than i'm used to but the broth had enough lemon grass (just wish there was more fish sauce). what was great about the bbh was that all the cuts of meat (i ordered american/regular style; no blood, no pig feet) were really good slices, like filet mignon cuts. Good decent bowl size that really filled me up. pho broth tasted not bad either. they serve you a free basket of shrimp chips at the beginning. This place is never a disappointment. The food is always good and the staff is friendly and helpful. There is so much on the menu that you can try something new every time and always you'll be blown away by the flavors. I personally like the number 4, which is a seafood dish except that it contains pork, because, hey, pork is the other white meat and fish are white. Or something. I'm not sure how they decided to put it in. But it's good. Or you can eat around it. They have vegetarian options as well, and beef and chicken. The pho is very good. And we always have a pot of tea to go with it. It's my go-to place for Vietnamese and to meet up with dear friends. Give it a try. read more

Really enjoyed our experience here. The bun salad bowl had a great sweet fish sauce accompaniment. The meat and spring rolls were sweet and flavorful. The wait staff was good, but not super friendly. Biggest reason for not giving 5 stars is that it seems like flavors are dumbed down a bit. Really missed cilantro and mint in my bun salad and in the fresh spring rolls. Mekong is open on Mondays. That's the primary advantage here and the availability for a review as the Vietnamese restaurant of choice in a different part of town was closed. Service was so-so. Menu is confusing. Some items have numbers. Others are just listed randomly without a number. Like when you want a combination vermicelli dish. It doesn't have a number. But the #15 is right above it. You'll see when you look at the menu. Food was alright. They poorly handwritten itemized receipt is difficult to read so probably don't go there if it's an expense for a business trip and your company requires it. Would go back. read more

This is one of my favorite spots for Pho in Tulsa. The service is exceptional. The dishes always come out prepared perfectly by real life Vietnam born cook. Used to go here a lot as a kid back when the management was different. Management changed and now this place is horrible. One time I came in to get spring rolls to go just to find out that they don't accept credit card for total under $10. The other night my friend and I came in because she loves their spring rolls. She order lemongrass chicken and vegetarian spring rolls. I ordered mi xao don (number 28, I think). The waiter brings out vegetarian EGGROLLS and when we confronted him about the appetizer being wrong he smiled and said sorry and walked away. Next he brings her lemongrass chicken. It looked good, as seen in photo. But while she started eating, she found a long strand of black hair in the entree. She didn't let me say anything to the waiter because she's not the type of person to complain so she continued eating. The service is just awful. Never coming here again. read more

Tried this restaurant for the first time today. We had noticed it several times when shopping at Burlington. Decided to give it a whirl and ordered the appetizer sampler along with the sesame chicken with rice. With the variety of food we sampled not one bad or even so-so item! Everything was seasoned, textured, and presented perfectly. We were amazed how they could prepare this fresh in less than 15 minutes but they did. Super friendly servers, very fair price. If your tastes lean this direction i believe you should give this restaurant a try. We will be back, often! read more

Eggroll SALAD, you say? YES, I say, YESSSS! So Mekong surprised me. The Queen of Asian food fans. I had never had an Eggroll SALAD. And the irony didn't escape me that we went to a Vietnamese restaurant because I was craving Pho, and I got a SALAD....that really wasn't a SALAD at all. lol What is this thing I speak of, foodies? It's a melange of noodles, veg, meat of choice (I did the combo), and cut-up springrolls. Okay, so it's really a SPRINGroll salad, but I digress. Then a nice small bowl of fish sauce to toss it all together. First, all of the meats (beef, pork, chicken and shrimp) were beautifully seasoned and tender. The sauce was light addition and brought it all together. The ambiance is simple and old school decor. The food is fresh and tasty. And AFFORDABLE. I couldn't believe the meals we got for the price! My friend got a special wonton soup (not Wor Wonton, that I love dearly elsewhere) that she loved. We also shared an app sampler (think Pu Pu Platter but stepped up a notch in quality). Interesting menu...they have true authentic Vietnamese dishes that I did not expect to see (thit coah - cooked glazed pork w/hard boiled eggs). They offer complimentary shrimp chips which was also another great surprise! The noodles dishes reminded me of what my grandmother used to make when I was kid..not as good as hers, but it was suffice enough to appease my craving. Avoid. Pho was overly sweet (too much fish sauce) with no accompanying herbs (le basil, cilantro, etc.). Shrimp and mixed vegetable entree turned out to be cheap tiny frozen shrimp with an iceberg lettuce salad. VERY disappointing. Rice was clumpy and sticky. Shouldn't a "Saigon" restaurant be able to cook rice? Service horrible. Never got a refill on iced tea. Table next to me had to waive at help multiple times trying to get service. I finally had to yell across the room to get attention for both of us. Brought me a ticket with wrong prices - overcharging. Table near me had same problem. Even after adjusted, they are charging $3.00 for iced tea (originally tried to charge $3.99 - both being outrageous for a single glass). We have our ups & downs here. My husband & I love this restaurant! The owner lady is so nice ! This is our always go to when we don't feel like cooking. The minus star is for the really salty meals a couple times we had here. But as long as we're in Tulsa craving authentic Asian food, this will always be the place we go to!! Good price too! This has always been one of my favorite restaurants to have a delicious bowl of special pho (combination of beef brisket, beef flank, tendons & tripes, meatballs). The only meat I received in my pho today was only beef flank. My dad ordered his usual chicken plate with fried eggs and veggies. It took them 45 mins to bring it out to him. I was almost already done with my special pho. Good thing they had brought him out a small bowl of wonton soup (comes with his order) when they had brought out my pho. I wasn't too sure about the soup though... It was VERY clean and that makes me suspicious always, but if its real, its real - props to them. Also kind of suspicious I didn't get a soup spoon with my pho. Just the big giant on wrapped in the napkin. Would recommend if you're hungry! Very authentic Vietnamese flavors - I had no idea what I was tasting! Fortunately I thought the new flavors were delightful and we've been visiting about once a week since. Some family we've brought with us love it, others can't get past the newness. I think it depends on an adventurous taste palette. Favorite menu items: both kinds of spring rolls, the napoleon dessert, chicken soup, french diced steak, and most of all....the fried eggplant. It's to die for. I've loved this place for over 10 years! Sadly, it's time to find a new place. The staff is great. The owner however, is terrible and offers the absolute worst customer service I've ever seen. Yelling at staff and customers ECT. It was enough to make me almost always get to go. Recently, I placed an order, repeated it 3 times. Got home, only to find the order was wrong. Luckily, just a noodle mix up. My husband works close by, no big deal. Until she refused to let him pick up the correct noodles with out getting the others back. The worst Vietnamese food we have ever encountered. Tried to pass off frozen French fries as "potatoes", served the most tasteless vegetables one can imagine. The curry was not based on Thai spices. Appeared to be Indian based (almost) curry. Had to settle for eating just the steamed rice. $13.00 for a cup of rice and two over cooked egg rolls. IMHO, they should close up, move to San Jose, and learn to cook. read more
