Working with Meise Design Group was the best experience! We went under contract in April 2024 to build a home here in Arizona while we were living in Virginia. As we got closer to the completion date (January 2025), we began our search for landscaping professionals. MDG was recommended to us from an architect we've been following on Instagram for several years. Between that recommendation, MDG's own Instagram portfolio, and their online reviews, we thought this might be a fit. We initially worked with Andrew, who was super accommodating - first working with us over email and Zoom, then meeting us at the homesite in person when we flew out here for progress checks. He was great working with two people who have never had any outdoor space (former apartment/condo/townhouse people) and were mostly clueless about what we wanted other than some Pinterest inspo photos. And he was also just so perfect for us specifically - he is a former east coaster himself and a dog-person - so he knew to explain things we wouldn't know (e.g. window reflections can melt turf in this Arizona heat) and how to prioritize our dogs' needs (e.g. our pool has a ledge so if a pup falls in, they're not far from safety). There was never any pressure - to go a certain direction, to exceed our budget, or to hurry up with decisions. Andrew was always prepared to talk in detail about options, tradeoffs, and pros/cons - and to let us see how those different things would look using his design software. We eventually landed on a design that we loved, that met our HOA requirements, and that met state and local requirements - all of which MDG took care of (e.g. HOA application info, county permits, etc.). Eddie and the teams on our property to complete the work were great. Everyone was kind, everything was kept as tidy as possible throughout the work; someone even came over on their day off because of a big rain storm - just to make sure everything was put away. Our project wrapped on time, on budget, and on expectations. We had a super informative final walkthrough - letting us know how to work everything, when to maintenance things, etc. And then we've heard from the team a few times since - just checking in on us. Our backyard is our sacred space - we LOVE it. All our guests love it. We've caught neighbors taking photos as inspo for their own yards. It's very simple because it prioritizes our view and our pups, but we've seen much more elaborate work MDG has done - so whatever your project, we would highly recommend MDG! read more

My wife and I are new to the Scottsdale area so we didn't have much to go off of regarding experience with landscape contractors. After interviewing three companies, we chose Meise Design Group for our backyard raise and rebuild. We couldn't be happier with the process and finished results. It was a smooth process working with Andrew, Eddie, and the entire Meise crew. Andrew was very attentive to our questions and concerns. He got us involved in all of the decision making by asking us questions and laying out all options over and over again, so we could come to a solution that was suitable for us. Andrew was always available for us throughout our project. At times I would text him as early as 6:00AM and he would respond right away. Their quality of work is undeniable. They pay attention to every detail, as you can see in the attached photos. I felt there pricing was fair. We had a few cost overruns but this was because we wanted a few upgrades- Not because he changed cost midway thru the project. I had a hard time getting landscape architects to even give me quotes, so I was excited when I found Meise and got quick responses from Andrew. He took my long list of scattered ideas to renovate my backyard and was able to shape them into a cohesive experience, even adding some great ideas that we folded into the final product while also talking me through cost cutting options. The team was always open to my asks and very constructive in how to get the results I wanted; I never once heard "no" or "we can't do that". The install team worked fast and did an awesome job. I am attaching samples of their work, both designs and finished product, since the photos that other reviewers shared were part of what convinced me to go with Meise for this work. I was initially suspicious of the consistent 5-star ratings, but the photos that so many reviewers posted made me more confident that they were legitimate. I am genuinely surprised by a few of the lower ratings I see here on Yelp, to the extent that I honestly wonder if those were intended for another company. Really disappointed with this company. Based off past reviews we chose them to do our yard. While the work was completed, it was done with average quality. It was a challenge dealing with the owner on even the simplest things. Not to mention the outright lies and price gouging. We asked for a particular item to be done and we're quoted 3.5x more than any other quote. Even the install team laughed at the quote. Getting any post work follow up has been impossible. You are abandoned once the job is done. We are now stuck with no support or warranty after the job and will end up needing someone else to do repairs or other. The 2 stars are purely for the install team and the work they did. We would never recommend this company to anyone. read more

MDG does impeccable work -- start to finish. From the start, they come out and truly listen to your goals. From there, they are honest and up front with you about costs and capabilities. In the design process you get to see 3D diagrams of your project for opportunities to tweak, change, and visualize. That is coupled with a specifically inventoried cost ledger that, importantly, DOES NOT CHANGE unexpectedly during the life of the project. The workmanship is excellent. As my yard was being completed I was super impressed at the fine touches that I did even expect. Things like (1) totally hiding a previous ugly storm drain with a uniquely installed clandestine drain instead, (2) completely hiding all of the previous ugly pool caps and utility stuff related to the pool, (3) ensuring perfect aesthetics with full functionality. I was the "pain in the ass client" in the form of modifying my yard remodel by double as I watched the quality fo the working being performed. I added an outdoor sun structure with electric, TV amount, and fireplace at the last minute and they totally accommodated. Another thing that was refreshing compared to most contractors -- honest timelines and timetables. They started when they said they would start without weird work stoppages. Most of their work is done by MDG employees (versus subcontractors) so there is much of more of "do this project right before we move on" feel versus "get this piece done and get the check" vibe you might get from others. An unequivocal Do Not Recommend!! On top of being dishonest and thieves, they do not stand by their work and abandon you right when done! Plus the owner is incredibly immature and unprofessional! The work is average to decent, but they do not take the time to care about the quality of their work and will skimp if you don't pay attention or keep on top of every little thing. The owner also does not do what he says and will outright ignore calls, emails and texts. There are far better choices! read more

Meise Design Group did a stellar job - start to finish! Ryan and Andrew quoted the front yard re-do for us and worked up a design for us. They helped us stay within budget and gave us what the HOA needed in order to get approval. We had our front yard gutted and went from grass, overgrown bushes, curbing, with dead palms to an awesome desert landscape with the proper amount of plants/tree to satisfy our picky HOA. Edward supervised the work and kept it on schedule. Each day they would clean up before they left and it was completed in two and a half days. Outstanding! I want to share our fantastic experience with Meise Design Group - Landscape Construction! After nearly 20 years of having a neglected backyard that was large with an oddly shaped pool put in by the previous owners, Meise worked magic and turned it into a beautiful outdoor oasis that we look forward to enjoying every day! I've attached photos of the completed backyard design as well as 1 photo of the backyard 'before' its transformation. To say we were WOWED is an understatement. Andrew created a design that was both beautiful and more amazing than we could imagine, extending our patio deck around the pool so that it was useable space, creating a fun mini-golf putting green in part of our yard, and even a small meditation area at the side of our house! From providing guidance when we had ideas to incorporate into the design, to making choices between travertine vs. pavers, to creating an artistic landscape with plants that will mature with beauty, we were impressed with the professionalism and attention to detail in their work. I've been looking for landscape design and construction companies to do a large remodel on our 1/3 acre lot. It's definitely a sellers market right now in the construction business and it's interesting to see who's been responsive even though they're busy. I've called and left messages twice now over a 5 week period. I noted that I anticipated that this will be a $60-$100k job. After 7 weeks I finally got a call back but no message left. My husband and I would like to add to MDG's enthusiastic reviews and accolades. We met with Andrew in May 2018, and our project began in early October and finished in early November. MDG was the 4th landscaping company that we met with, but even before meeting with them, they were our top choice. I am SO glad that we got to work with them because our project was big - entire remodel of front, back, including pool, and both side yards - and there was no way we would have trusted anyone else's design ability, workmanship, and professionalism the way we did with MDG. Andrew's top-notch creativity and designs allowed us to have a remodel we never imagined possible. Meise Design Group recently completed a front and backyard redesign and transformation for us. We used Yelp to contact a few companies to come out and give us quotes, and while it was difficult to get in touch with Meise at first (because they are really busy), we are really glad that they are the company we ended up selecting. We had a vague idea of what we wanted to do with our backyard, and Andrew drew up plans and then the company executed it perfectly. They did new hardscape (pavers, which we have since received positive comments on from other contractors, remarking on the precision of the job), new grass curbing, new sod, planted over 40 new shrubs and trees, new granite, redid our irrigation, and installed a new pool fence. They could have also done our pool, but we ended up going with a different company for that because it was slightly cheaper. They helped us save money when they could. One great example of this is that they offered to salvage my potted plants and plant them in the front yard, rather than buy new plants. They also then removed all of the excess soil from my pots. They reused old river rock and pavers in the backyard to create a decorative wash and path in the front yard. Meise was great to work with, and we would recommend them to anyone. read more

After an extensive search for a landscape design company we chose Meise Designs Group, best decision! From our initial meeting with Andrew, he listened to everything I envisioned for our backyard and he delivered. I have worked with designers before and this is the first time I didn't have to request changes to a design. The 3D image Andrew came up with was more than I hoped for. I need to see things in person before I buy them so Andrew unreservedly showed with me all the plants, trees, rocks, travertine, etc. that would be going in our yard, I loved all of his suggestions. Andrew not only has a talent for design he also has complete knowledge of the materials he uses and the plants/trees he selects for the job. He has foresight for how the area will look initially planted, five years later and to full maturity. He took that all into consideration when creating the design to meet our privacy needs. On site we worked with Eddie, who was equally as wonderful to work with as Andrew. I sometimes feel pawned off when companies do this but this was not the case with Meise. Eddie was exactly like his brother Andrew; knowledgeable, great attention to detail and always willing to talk to me in the morning about what they would be doing. Eddie always satisfied my need to know everything that is going on with enthusiasm. We also had the privilege of working with the third brother as well, Ryan, again wonderful to work with; I felt like I was in good hands as the crew worked on constructing our water feature. All three brothers take pride in what they do. They have all the characteristics you hope for when trusting your home to a contractor: on time, organized, efficient, talented, professional and personable. MDG is a fantastic company to work with! After reviewing a handful of companies for the landscape design for our new home, we settled on MDG. The moment I talked with Andrew, I instantly knew that they were going to be the company we were going to work with. He is responsive, polite, personable and very knowledgeable. At the initial consult, I didn't feel rushed or pressured into working with them. Andrew took his time to listen to my vision and brought it to life. I provided a short list of types of plants we like, and he was able to incorporate them in a cohesive and beautiful way. He is very knowledgeable about the materials and plants. He'll provide great ideas and guidance on what will look good and what will thrive depending on where they plant it. He's got a great design eye! What I also liked was their ability to provide a rendering, so you can have a visual of what your landscaping will end up looking like. Andrew and Eddie were both there the first day and on time. They went above and beyond the things a landscaping company would do like chipping up overpoured concrete on the side of the house and rehanging the back gate. Extra labor they took upon themselves to make sure that the install was done appropriately and that the design was not compromised. They really have a passion for their work, business and customers. Andrew, Eddie and their whole team are craftsmen. Eddie was there everyday working hard and overseeing the whole project. And Eddie is really quite fun to be around! He's got an upbeat and personable way about him! The whole team worked hard and were there on time every morning. They quickly knocked the job out it in one day and the job was completed at a very high standard of craftsmanship. We are very happy with the work that MDG did in our backyard and would absolutely work with them again in the future. We started our research online and found 4 companies to request quotes from. From the first phone call with MDG, they immediately stood out as one of the better options. Andrew took the time to actually have a conversation about our project, educate me on various aspects, inquire about how I heard of MDG, etc. When he came to see our yard and talk through our ideas, he had great suggestions to help us maximize our project so that we could get the most bang for our buck. We initially wanted a freestanding pergola but he suggested the cantilevered shade structure off of our existing patio - it was significantly less expensive but gave us a massive amount of shade which was our ultimate goal. Plus, it looks awesome! Andrew was also very responsive via email - we tweaked the design a few times before settling on the final plan and he always got back to us quickly. If anything in the emails wasn't clear, he'd call to make sure we were on the same page. If I had to point out any areas for improvement, there are two things that come to mind. (1) The estimate/fee worksheet could have been much more detailed. I wish it had broken down everything into specific costs rather than just large numbers for each of the three main areas of demo, pavers, shade structure. Andrew definitely answered all of my questions on where the numbers came from but I would have preferred a more detailed breakdown rather than having to ask. (2) I would have liked to see a 3D drawing of our project rather than just the basic "floorplan" view. Maybe this is only done for bigger projects, but it would have been nice to have. Overall, we are extremely happy and would definitely recommend MDG. Andrew and Ryan were great to work with and they clearly take pride in what they do. It was a pleasure working with Ryan and his team (big thank you to Luis as well!). Each step of the process (from design, to estimates and actually construction) was handled with genuine care and professionalism. Due to past negative experiences, I was worried that Meise would be like so many other contractors in the valley, but they were leagues above my expectations. Meise's workers came everyday ON TIME. During our consultation, Andrew informed us that when they begin a project, they finish it, and that they will not start the project and leave halfway through it to begin another project. We have to say they kept their word! Plus each day they showed up to start work @ 5:30 am, without fail. Also, after the project was completed, they immaculately cleaned up our backyard, which was impressive and much appreciated! As we sit here writing this review, Andrew and the crew are here fixing a few pavers that were chipped. The other night when the storm came, my husband and I weren't thinking and placed our outdoor umbrella on our new pavers. Well now there is a large rust stain from it. I went outside this a.m. to say hello and Andrew was literally scrubbing the rust stain out of the pavers for us. We did not expect him to do this for us as it was our fault. I haven't even started a project with Andrew yet. But the guy shows up to meet us and is right on time, full of enthusiasm, listens carefully, takes notes and has been engaging with us since just to bounce ideas off of us and stay on budget. This is clearly an individual who LOVES what he does and is already building a fabulous reputation for himself. I have to re- review this company. While we originally had a hard tome connecting we have since met. Andrew is personable, polite and direct. He has already saved me money keeping from making some costly mistakes I wouldn't have known about otherwise. Just want to says these guys are amazeimg. Excellent work and very friendly people and very easy to work with. We had them landscape our backyard and it turned out absolutely amazeing. They worked with my budget and didn't try to up sell me on stuff I didn't need. They finished my backyard in 5 days and it turned out absolutely beautiful.
