i got a free inspection and they charged me nothing because they concluded the car was doing okay actually.

I had some complicated problems going on with my GMC Terrain. I was just hoping someone would give me an honest assessment to help to get my car back in decent shape and to hopefully add a few more years of being able to use this vehicle. In spite of many costly options, the manager here quoted me just under $300 to take care of the other options were $2000. He had my best in and that's all I was looking for. They charged me over $400 for a new battery, which I never needed in the first place and didn't fix the problem I was having with my car. They seemed very unprofessional and not very knowledgeable, like they were guessing how to fix it and never sure what the real issue was even after the diagnostic. I realize every problem isn't always going to be obvious how to solve, but it was the fact they charged me so much for something I never needed. They also aren't good at communicating with customers and it seems like they're not even good at communicating with each other. Different people would answer my calls and have no idea what another person was doing or what progress was made on a certain car. Every time I called they would put me on hold, and then transfer me to someone else just to tell me ANOTHER person will call me back when they get the chance. The first time it took them an hour to call me back, the second time they never called me back. They are your typical car service scammers who don't even seem qualified to be working there in the first place. I am not the only one who has had bad experiences with them, my dad has as well, pretty much same issues. Please take your car anywhere else. read more

I brought my car in to get the check engine light diagnosed. They came back and told me that it was my O2 sensor. At the time, I was well aware that I was still covered under warranty. They told me that they called my warranty company, and they would not cover the part due to it being a "maintenance issue" which at the time I knew did not sound right because the car only has 40,000 miles on it and I kept up with all of the services on it. But, trusting what they told me, I went ahead and paid out of pocket to get the part fixed which cost me almost $300. I went on my way and the next day; my check engine light came back on. I called them to let them know that it came back on and I was told that it was probably my second O2 sensor and they told me that when one goes out, the other one usually does too. I was never told this before. I brought my car back in to get the second sensor fixed which cost me another $150. On my way home from the shop, my check engine light came back on AGAIN. At this point I knew something was wrong and someone was not being completely truthful about what was going on. I decided to take my car into a different shop in Dayton. Within an hour of them checking it out, they were able to tell me that my car is covered under the manufacturer's warranty and that both of those repairs that I had just paid for would have cost me nothing. Meineke completely took advantage of me being a young woman and not knowing anything about cars and trusting what they had to tell me. I absolutely DO NOT recommend them to anybody. If I could give negative stars I would. It's a bit long but a lot happened. 8-25-24. I had my car towed to Meineke in Hixson TN on Sunday. 8-26-24. Mon, I called the shop at 8:30 am & explained what happened. I called them at 5:20 pm, they said they were really busy & would bring my car into the shop first thing in the morning to run diagnostics & it would be fixed that day. 8-27-24. Tue, I called at 12:10 pm and Manager Terry told me what was wrong & I asked for pricing. He said he'd get it & call me back. By 5:09 pm Mgr Terry hadn't called so did. Terry told me it would be $1200-ish. I didn't write down the exact price. I said I would buy the parts. He said the price is the same. He finally agreed to only charge me for labor = new price was $642.46. 8-28-24. Wed, at 8:00 am I dropped the parts off to Meineke - alternator, valve cover gasket, and serpentine belt. At 3:50 pm they said my car was ready. Around 5:00 pm I started driving home. In less than ¼ mile my car died and I got it to the side of the road. Back at the shop, I told them it died. Mgr Terry said they would have the car towed in the morning. Terry also told me they did a "test drive" to make sure it was good so it was odd that it wasn't working again. However, the mechanic who worked on my car gave me a ride home & said: "we probably should have test driven your car". 8-29-24. Thur, I called several times throughout the day - NO answer. I drove over at 5:10 pm and it was closed. My car was also still on the side of the road. I called Corporate's answering service & gave my 1st complaint. 8-30-24. Fri, at 8:30 am I got a call from the same tow driver that originally towed my car to Meineke & said Highway Patrol ordered a tow to get my car off the side of the road. I called Mgr Terry who said he'd call Corporate to get a credit card to have my car towed from Soddy Daisy (at the tow company). I called Terry at 2:50 pm and he still hadn't gotten a credit card but would check with Corporate. I called Corporate's answering service with a 2nd complaint. 9-2-24. Monday - Labor Day. 9-3-24. Tue, at 10:37 am I called Mgr Terry who said that Regional Mgr Melvin was supposed to open the shop last Thurs. when they were closed because Terry was out, and that's why my car wasn't towed. He also said Melvin refused to pay for the tow, but he would waive any costs if there was something else they found. 9-3-24 continued. At 3:45 pm we went to the tow company and paid for the Hwy Patrol tow fee of $175.00. Their mechanic said the alternator might have fried my battery so I bought a new battery for $60.00 and they put it in for free. They tried driving it, but it died again. We took it to another shop to test for electrical issues. They had my car until Friday, 9-6-24 but couldn't find anything so didn't charge me. . 9-4-24. Wednesday I called Meineke Mgr Terry at 4:35 pm to say they had not fixed my car, they had lied to me, and they didn't tow my car to fix the original repair. I told him: Since they did not fix my car - they needed to give me a refund and I would ask my mom to call her lawyer.. He said he'd talk to Corporate. 9-5-24. Thursday at 12:36 pm Terry called me back & said they'd tow my car to fix it. I told him it was too late. 9-7-24. Sat, my insurance towed my car to Tire World. 9-9-24. Tire World called to say the "diagnostics detected that NOT all censors were properly plugged in from previous work" - done at Meineke. They charged $239.47 with this description.. 9-10-24. I picked up my car - AND IT WORKS. Paid $32.30 for car rental after mine died on 8-28-24 thru 9-10-24. 9-23-24. Corporate has NEVER replied to my complaints. My extra costs for tow, parts, repairs, and car rental after picking up my car from Meineke 8-28-24 = $506.77. read more

I have made me a new mechanic friend who doesn't want your money he just loves what he do and he's here to help the best way . I love him . outstanding! good honest work. they perform a courtesy inspection of your vehicle, explain the results, and recommend the proper fix, and pricing. no sales pitches, just good honest evaluations and work at an affordable price. anymore these days, rarely will you run in to an auto repir service like this. as an "old guy" i've maybe run in to 3 shops like this in my life. there's no worse feeling than paying for your car to be repaired, then when you pick it up and drive away, you have that feeling that you just got ripped off. i have 7 cars and have been there 3 times for different services. i never left with that feeling. the manager at this place always sends me off by saying "if you have any problems bring it back, we'll make it right". there's no doubt in my mind that he will make it right. i just wish he knew how to work on toasters. lol. i promise, you won't be disappointed. i have 2 other cars in the "on deck circle" for repairs. i'll post my reviews. read more
