The store is very clean and well organized. The employees are very helpful. I bought one piece of their fried chicken and it was out of this world delicious and juicy. The breading on it had great flavor and it tasted like it just came out of the oven. The employee named Virginia was so helpful and very pleasant she rang up my order there at the deli so I didn't have to go to the regular checkout. She was so helpful, sweet and very kind lady. I have had chicken before at previous Meijers which wasn't so good. This chicken was amazingly delicious and tasty! I mean, y'all, I am an Indiana Native that has been in the south (Nashville, TN) for over a decade and I miss Meijer SO MUCH! I brought my LA born & raised bf to the sacred Meijer (he didn't know what it was) and he was very impressed. We came on our trip here and found all we needed in more. Meijer is like Walmart meets Target but better. I love it and miss the Midwest. This location was perfect for us for our trip, and seemed to have everything you could think of, nothing to complain about - I forgot what it was like to be able to purchase Spirits with groceries, lol, in the South we have to go to a liquor store. We tried a Michigan distilled pre-mixed Old Fashioned that was perfect for us while in a hotel - more affordable than bar drinks and we loved the flavor. We got some snacks and travel items. I've had two horrible experiences as a customer at this store, and as a result, I will no longer be giving them my business. The first experience was with the employee who has a mullet. I asked him about the hair salon inside the store and why the sign said "open" if it was closed. Long story short, he gave me attitude and belittled me to the point where I asked to speak to a manager. Additionally, he wouldn't tell me his name when I asked for it. Terrible customer service and a total lack of respect for customers who help keep you employed. The second experience was with the manager -- Mary. I bought a 40 lb. bag of dog food on 6/29/25 at 2:34 PM and when I was putting it in my trunk the bottom fell out. I left the bag and food where it fell (because I wasn't sure how the store handled situations like that). Upon going to the service desk, Mary tried to guilt trip me because I didn't clean up the mess or bring the empty bag back (like it was my fault that I purchased a defective product from their store). Again, terrible customer service. Instead of saying "sorry sir, we will gladly exchange our defective product for you" it was why didn't you clean up the mess and bring the empty bag back? Mary and Mr. Mullet need to either be fired or thoroughly retrained in customer service. The other businesses in the area will gladly take my money. I have spent thousands of dollars at this store in the past and would have likely spent much more in the future if it wasn't for Mr. Mullet and Mary. Just terrible customer service. They stock items on wrong shelves and don't put the price tag on the item, then do not honor the price where they stocked the items and blame customers for moving multiple items to the wrong spot. Yeah that makes sense that some random person would move all of one item to the wrong rack so that some random guy will go in for a hairbrush and not get the advertised price. They've renovated this Mejier and it's faaaaancy. Cleaned it up, spiffed it up, and made it more efficient with added lanes. They've always had a great selection but now the design matches the quality of products. I dig it! They have a really good selection of international items, local produce, and their bakery section is surprisingly solid for a large grocery chain. I've also always liked Mejier because they're a local Michigan company and they're sticking with their local investment by putting in a Sweet Water's cafe inside. Confession: I'm usually here doing late night shopping but I was psyched to see them update the cafe with this option. Positive additions all around! read more

Meijer is probably my favorite grocery store. My first experience with Meijer was at this location when I visited Ann Arbor for the first time a long time ago. Since then, I have been a fan. I like the variety of various grocery items and other products they carry. Their prices are very reasonable and the quality is good. Wow, I go here all the time and never wrote a review lol. This place underwent a major renovation and the place looks a lot better. - they added the bottle return in the front and it doesn't smell! - added drive thru pharmacy - they added multiple self-checkout lanes - they added scan and pay lanes - moved things all over the place - added Sweet Waters and removed Starbucks Before the renovation, I knew where everything was in the grocery side... after the renovation, well I had to relearn everything. The place looks more cleaner, open, and they added more aisles. The only draw back now is the traffic, with all the stores open in front of Meijer, the traffic has gotten worse. read more

Honestly I'm not sure about the negative reviews, coming back here after many years, I found the workers all to be friendly and the service pleasant. Store is clean and spacious. Food costs are relatively lower 5-20% lower than larger cities and plenty of parking always. No issues with finding what I needed, from groceries, housewares, pharmacy, etc. their adjoining gas station is usually slightly less expensive than other gas stations in the area, and they sometimes offer gas discounts for shopping at Meijer. read more

I know that there is a labor shortage and build that into my expectations. However, there is no excuse when the employees that you do have are flat out rude, unhelpful, and argumentative, I had such an awful experience here yesterday. I did talk to a manager, and she was at least empathetic, but there was no excuse for what I experienced. I have been going to this location for a couple of years and while there have been small annoyances here and there, I have never had a reason to take the time to complain. Really great grocery store. They also have a lot of products you would get at a department store. I love the one-stop shopping convenience they offer. Their prices are lower that most other grocery stores I've visited. I've never encountered a rude employee. Everyone has been nice. Newly remodeled store with no care of what condition the bottle room is. They put it in front of the store so they don't have to deal with it. People with large bags of nasty dripping bottles and cans making a mess of things, overflowing bins and carts full of cans and bottles that either didn't go through the machine or weren't eligible to do so. you stuck to the floor in this room wading through a river of swill and garbage. I wish I could give them zero stars. I stand here two days before Thanksgiving (I expected lines) in one of THREE LINES OPEN!! There are no self-checkouts with no limits, so I jumped in the shortest line- 6 people long. You would think a corporation as big as Meijer would actually plan for one of the biggest weeks in food purchasing, but I guess not. Meijer is a locally and family owned corporation based in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I'd expect it to be run at a better level of quality than other out of state owned stores. This Meijer is absolutely horrible! Always out of basic everyday staples such as bread, water, produce and fish. This is a constant problem for Meijer and you never know what they'll be out of any given day. Whoever manages the store should be replaced or retrained because it's such an inconvenience that I've pretty much stopped going. How can a locally based grocer run out of bread and water on a regular basis? And don't get me started about the checkout lanes that are closed and long lines for self check out. By the way, the website is down and phones aren't being answered. Luckily, Ann Arborites are lucky to have several alternate shopping choices such as Wal-Mart, Kroger and Aldi. I like the layout and options at this Meijer but the employees are CONSISTENTLY RUDE and unhappy. Every time I come here I feel like I'm intruding and getting dirty looks when I ask a simple question. One lady with short red hair and glasses is always horribly rude and unpleasant. Rude employees. I needed to return something today and came in at 735am, unaware that customer service opened at 8am. I asked an enployee if i was able to return something right now, to which she replied no, it opens at 8 and turned around and carried on her conversation with another employee. I asked if no one could help me right now, as im unable to return during customer service times and needed the new item today? This time she turned around looking annoyed and just said no. The gentleman she was speaking to got almost defensive and replied rudely as well. We have been shopping this Meijer since 1989. We have always been satisfied with the service. They were open to suggestions on what to stock when Organics started coming on the market and the staff had been helpful. We recently tried the fried chicken "again" at the deli. It was very good. The clerk said they switched to a different breading last fall. I hope they keep it up, because what they used to serve was not worth buying. An added plus to our shopping experience. read more

This Meijer has a good location and is on 2 Ann Arbor Bus routes 25 and 27. It's not too far from the downtown or campus, and easy to get to. Parking is sometimes and issue, but coming by bus that's not a problem I usually worry about. There's a fantastic Asian selection in the foreign foods, but I'd like to see some of the European (British, German, Italian) foods expanded. They used to carry a bit more in that department and now? not so much. There's a great crafts and home furnishings section. Too easy to go way over budget there! Staff are generally friendly, if hard to track down, and the produce section is large and well organised. Downside? Bathrooms are a hit or miss for cleanliness. No consistency! If you need one, sneak across the parking lot to one of the many restaurants. Pharmacists have lost one or two of my prescriptions before: not what you want for life saving meds! No 24/7 pharmacy, which would be great for late night emergency visits. I wish there were some option to get smaller quantity of some of the veggies. 1 lb of carrots is a bit much for a single person. Also, after 8 it often seems like half the self checkouts close and there are no cashiers working. Not bad for a grocery store though. read more

Not very friendly employees on the floor or at the customer service desk. Store is massive and seems pretty well-stocked. Avoids the weird claustrophobic feeling you somehow get with WalMarts. Went through the manned check out line with some items. Cashier is friendly but not very fast. And why in this day and age is this store still using exclusively plastic bags??? So I realized I didn't get something on my list and went back to grab that item and check out again. I looked at the dearth of manned checkout lines and figured with one item, I'd do the self-check out line. That was a colossal mistake. At this Meijer, and I've not been in others in a while, you have to go through a narrow corridor made up of displays of high profit items for the store, ie snacks, sodas, etc, to eventually get to an area that's penned in by the checkout machines themselves. There's maybe 10 of them. The problem is that there are idiots who are slowly self bagging entire grocery carts of items. They are demonstrably slower and more inefficient than a checkout clerk and a bagging person. Because half the time some issue crops up. Like, they didn't put their scanned item in the right place or they don't know what code to punch in for their vegetables. They know they're slower and that it takes longer than the cashier to do this, why would they do this? Why would you check out an entire full cart of groceries by yourself? Meanwhile everyone behind is trapped in this narrow corridor, waiting for someone to finish. There's no response by the manager to open up more cashier lines. By going through this system you are telling the management that you'll suffer through this inefficient system and they can hire fewer and fewer people. Why would you take a job away from a living person cashier? Maybe a Meijer family member would thank you as you increase their profit margins and decrease their costs but shift the burden of work to you, the consumer. read more
