What happened to you guys? Mehran used to be one of the best restaurants in nova for Pakistani food. My past few experiences here have been terrible. Going in for the weekend buffet was the last straw....Old nehari, paya was full of bones, no flavor in channa, daal, and other salans. The only good thing were the chicken tikkas, but I am sure this will may not last long. It seems like similar things are happening at this restaurant that happened at shalimar. The staff is getting complacent and the food, service, and quality are going down. In nova, where you ave so many great Pakistani restaurants, this is not the way to run your business. read more

Went to this place today with my ofc team. Thought of taking a buffet but the options were less and didn't look good, so opted for a-la-carte. Ordered Veg Samosa, Okra, Onion Kulcha for myself and others ordered Butter Chicken, Some fried Tilapia fish. The Samosa were 'double fried' so had a ton of oil. Old samosas fried again and presented $1.5 per piece. This is absolutely unacceptable. No one would eat those oil drenched Samosas even for free, and u are charging for that piece of ***. Other food was just okay but Samosas pissed me off big time. There was only one thing I liked. the Non Veg curries had complimentary Rice and Bread. Yes Both ! Veg Curries had only one of the two. Now I feel that might be just a one time ad-hoc offer (as they may have a lot of extra buffet food which would get trashed otherwise), or may be a regular offer, dont know. Either way, waiter gave us option of switching one of the two, rice or bread, with any other veg curry from Buffet. It was Chana Masala, Mix Veg Curry or Daal(lentils). Based on how these three looked in the Buffet, I thought Chana Masala would be the best bet. I was Wrong. It turned out to be Oil Masala with chana floating in it. All the food, be it any curry, had only Oil and no spices. All u taste is just oil and no flavor. Overall it was not a good experience, and may not visit the place again. I have to give this place four stars cos the food is so freakin' delicious !! The ambience has room for improvement though .. I tried their buffet both for dinner one night and lunch another day , the food is Pakistani influenced and was consistently great , they offer a few items on the menu but all of them just tasted great . They bring fresh bread(naan) to your table along with a side salad paired with a great green mint chutney , amazing stuff . FYI, you can also request for tandoori chicken to be brought to your table as well .The best part is that they are open late and have a buffet all day everyday if you don't want to wait to order off the menu .Very well priced and service was good , all in all a great experience ! read more

Not really sure on this place. Seems to be more of an Indian restaurant than a kabob place (not a problem there) Stopped by here once and the food is ok. The price for the food is very reasonable for the area. The chicken dishes i had seemed to have a lot of chunks and bits of bone in it, so i really don't want to know what they do to the chicken. They also have some really strange(cultural maybe?) items such as goat brain curry (wtf). Naan is good though, so if nothing else will make it my place for that. read more

Best authentic Desi food. If you're looking home made style Pakistani cooking then don't look further. Best part is they are available in Buffet style which runs all day and food is always fresh. We had a spectacular meal here for lunch today! On a LCHF diet - my husband and I decided on kabobs for two. We declined rice, noodles, potatoes, and bread. Amazing. Came here for dinner around 9:15 on a saturday night and got the weekend buffet. I didn't see anyone ordering of the menu, which probably tells you that the buffet is the way to go. Personal favorites were the tandoori chicken (so good!), the haleem (I liked that it was chicken-based), and the chanas (a chickpea-based stew). This is traditional Pakistani food, so know that it's going to be cooked in tons of oil/butter. But it's totally worth it and it's definitely authentic. read more

I usually get takeout from here but decided to dine in on a Saturday evening. The restaurant has a more casual setting which you would expect from a buffet although you can order dishes as well. The waiters here are very polite and are frequently coming by to make sure you have everything you need. I came specifically on Saturday for their Haleem. My dad had been raving about it and had mentioned that it was only made on the weekend due to the rigorous process it take to make it. It was everything I enjoy about Haleem. Overall the food was tasty. You are given fresh warm Naan after you are seated. The food was not overly spicy and all the curries had plenty of flavor. The curries did seem a little oily but its possible to drain some of it out of the serving spoon. My one issue I had with the food here is the quality of meat seemed a little low. The meat in the gravy dishes seemed very fatty. Their buffet typically has about 5-6 main dishes ,Salad, 1 soup (usually chicken corn soup) and 1-2 desserts. They also have a menu you can order from and desserts you can order by the pound. My favorite dish that has me a repeat customer is their Chicken and Lamb Biryani. I absolutely love Pakistani food and I have for many years. I have a good friend from Pakistan who is a foodie and who knows all the best places to eat and we frequent them often. This place is the best in Northern VA. It's not one of these trendy kabob places popping up like Starbucks in prominent shopping centers and not serving very authentic food. It's located in an industrial area and not all that impressive from the outside. BUT it's the real deal on the inside. This restaurant has yet to disappoint. I have had to order takeout twice and the food is delicious. My go to is the mutton biryani, it is so flavorful and has large chunks of meat, be careful though they are bone in. It also has a nice kick to it. The samosa are delicious, large and full of goodness. I also tried their gulab jamun which had a nice texture and wasn't overwhelmingly sweet. Personally i feel their Haleem is the best in the northern VA area. They have Haleem in buffet and i usually just have that with naan. Their biryani also is good. I haven't tried anything else on the menu but will definitely recommend their Haleem. read more

Been to this place a couple times recently, so figured it was worth while to add it to yelp, since its hard to see from the road and most people probably would drive right by it without noticing it. It is right next to the Dunkin Donuts on 606 (Sterling Rd.) on the stretch between Elden/Herndon Pkwy and 28. The first time I went, I had the buffet. It consisted of about 6 or 7 choices. The price was extremely reasonable at 7.99 for the buffet in my opinion. Especially considering the fact it had (goat or lamb -- im not sure which it was, because I'm not sure which is which). Most middle eastern buffet's i have been to in the area do not usually have a "red meat" entree, on the buffet at least. So this was a good change of pace, as it was quite good. One thing I was kind of indifferent about, was the fact that it looked like most or all the meat on the buffet was "bone-in". Now some people would argue that this makes the meat taste better, while others might say it makes it harder to eat. Well, i thought it was going to be the latter, but it turned out it was not too difficult to eat after all, and it did taste good... so it all worked out, but just wanted to put that out there, as it was something i observed. The entire group thought the chana masala (i think thats what its called -- chickpea curry) was very good. There was also a cabbage dish on the buffet line that I thought was very good. My only complaint regarding the buffet was that it seemed like it had a bit more oil than what i am accustomed to. A few of the other things I liked where the fact that they had some hot pepper oil/paste that you could put on your food if you wanted to kick it up a notch. It was indeed spicy, and i consider myself a hot head, so this was a great addition. They are also very generous with the bread, and it always came out hot and fresh. Other items member in my group have had were the Lahori fish (not sure I'm spelling it right) it was basically what looked to be a whole fish (about 8 inches or so long) covered in some spice mixture. It was a bony fish, which he said was no problem for him, since he is part Haitian and used to eating it. Not for me though. I did have a taste of it, and the seasoning was good - it was a fishy fish - which may or may not appeal to you, and it was priced reasonably at around 8 dollars or so. My friend could not stop raving about while he happily chowed down on it. I can also recommend the lamb tikka wrap sandwich. Although not as big as I have had it from other restaurants. I felt the quality was very good. They cut the lamb more thinly than some other places ive been too. I actually think its actually better this way, because it tends to be less chewy, in my opinion. Very good, would definitely get it again. In fact, I think I am going to strongly consider calling in pickup orders here and there of the wrap for dinner, since its on my way home from work. mm mmm So... all in all, if you are in the area and want to try a new kabob place, I recommend you come in and check it out for yourself. The prices are VERY reasonable in my opinion for Kabobs -- everything seemed to be a couple/few bucks cheaper than some of the other Kabob places ive been in the area, and it is very close to Herndon (essentially on the border or Herndon/Sterling), so if you work in Herndon like i do, you should have no problem scooting on in for lunch one day to get some good spicy grub. read more

VERY reasonably priced compare to the area and large portion too. The food is OK too. Although from where I am from, I've had better.
