Stunned by my insanely fresh and flavorful takeout tonight: Fish Tika - giant fat slabs of perfectly cooked salmon. Lamb Korma - I want to bathe in this Korma sauce, but settled for dipping everything from the 'assorted Indian snack platter' in it. Then I dipped a bunch of microwaved broccoli in it, because I had broccoli and, well - why not? It was a really solid idea. Reasonable prices, great food, nice folks. read more

One of my favorite spots in Berkeley, Ca. They have the best chicken tiki masala and I love their samosas. Items are flavorful. Staff are great, they are attentive to dining in and provide a wonderful experience. Their packaging on to go items is always done well. Good portion sizes:). read more

Tikka masala was really good in flavor just not enough chicken , had around 3 small cubes But its good, ive tried a few other dishes but this is the best imo , rice and naan are good too. read more

Mehak has been our go-to for Indian food- we haven't exactly sat down to eat at the restaurant, but we've placed to go orders on multiple occasions- and always have enjoyed our food. The usual orders include: -chicken tikka masala- creamy, addictive. chicken chunks seem out of place but complete the bite. -saag paneer- I usually tell myself that this is healthy because I'm eating spinach (it's true!!), chunky with paneer chunks- awesome. -paneer or garlic naan- I tried their cheese naan most recently, and was OK with it, but I think I'm going to stay loyal to the garlic -basmati rice (which comes with the order)- goes so well with the creaminess of the tikka masala. Sometimes, my boyfriend and I have to ration it off when we eat it too quickly :P Quick service & really good prices for the amount you get. I'm unsure why they have a 3.5 star review but everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I've been eating at Mehak for at least a decade and don't plan on changing that any time soon. A small family owned restaurant, they put love in every dish. My most recent visit today was just as delicious as any. It's Good Friday today so a friend and I brought a voucher from restaurant.com and we both enjoy enjoyed a myriad of delicious shrimp dishes including shrimp tikka masala (special order, non menu item) and shrimp masala. Both dishes were very delicious and satisfied my craving for home cooked Indian food. I plan on coming back as soon as I'm able. read more

We often order food to go from here. I have to say this is probably the best Indian food I have EVER tasted. The food last night was show stopping. We ordered Hyderabadi Chicken Curry (with apricots) , Navrattan Korma, Aloo Saag because I can never get enough spinach and also the Mehak Bread Basket, a combination of garlic naan, Kashmiri naan (stuffed with cherry, raisins, coconut and nuts) and onion kulcha. Each dish was delectably and differently spiced, rich and nuanced with generous portions, enough to feed three with seconds. Also pleasingly spicy and we didn't even ask for it, this is how it comes. Usually I have to ask for dishes to be hot in other restaurants as they seem to tone things down for the US palate but not here. Writing this is making me starving. We ate here once 2 or so years ago, I had forgotten the name but remembered enjoying it a lot. Last night via UberEats, I ran across this place again and we placed and order for just under $40, and just over $40 with delivery and tip. The amount of food was great for the price. It's at least 2-3 meals for both my fiancé and myself. The Chicken Pakora was an amazing treat! Delicious, juicy, marinated chicken batter fried - the portion size being amazing compared to other chicken "tender" options. The Lamb was our favorite overall. I'm certain we'll be exploring more of their menu soon! read more

We really love this place. It serves--hands down-- my kid's favorite tikka masala! We have tried many of our usual Indian favorites and have yet to be disappointed. I was excited when wine and beer finally became an option recently, and look forward to the return of in-house dining... Bonus points for a very nice, attentive yet and laid-back staff. It is an easy and pleasant place to bring children but still feel just a little fancy. We miss sitting with napkins in laps & looking at the drawings under the front counter, but we'll make due with takeout until we meet again! read more

This is a grub hub review, so this includes both the order and delivery, which were both bad. We ordered lamb curry, chicken tikka, samoas, and chana masala. Rice was included with the chana. The portions seemed large, but were actually smaller than most when put into s bowl. Yes, the price is a dollar to 2 smaller but there were worst reason why this was bad. Garlic Naan: had no flavor and no garlic. It seemed like regular naan but it was not soft. Seem old and reheated. Chicken Tikka: lacked a underlining tomato flavor and though the chicken was not try, it was not inspiring. Did I also mention the driver was 15 mins late with our food? Visited on 7-21-2012 Came with the family and were seated right away. The restaurant is family friendly and has high chairs available. Went with an order of the vegetable masala and I made my chicken tikka masala spicy. Overall, food was solid. My chicken tikka masala came out with just the right amount of spiciness and was pretty good along with an Indian beer (Taj Mahal) to cleanse the palate. All in all, this is some decent Indian food that is reliable and conveniently located on Sacamento street, the main drag through Oakland, Berkeley, and Albany. It sits next to a liquor store on the corner of Dwight Ave, and worth checking out. That being said, the prices here are twice as much as I would spend at any of the numerous Indian restaurants near the UCB campus. The deal: I purchased a Groupon $15 for $30 in Indian fare at Mehak Indian Cuisine (+) beer served (+/-) street parking is hit or miss (--) food is over priced for sure (over $10-$15 per person w/o drinks). read more

This used to be our favorite restaurant in the Bay Area. Great food at a good price. Unfortunately, they are simply incapable of dealing with technology. We placed an order this past summer at 7am on a Sunday, giving a specific pick-up time MANY hours later. They didn't have it ready, and we had to wait 30 minutes. Not great, but not worth ending a relationship over. However, tonight, we placed another pick-up order three hours before the intended pick-up time. We just arrived, and the restaurant claimed it never received our order. Of course, their agent delivery.com had indeed received the order but claimed it was a fraudulent charge, while still charging our credit card. Again, we could forgive that. However, when we spoke to Mehak, the manager said "stop wasting my time" and hung up on us. Quite pathetic. We won't be going to this undependable restaurant again, even though we had been loyal customers for more than 5 years. We have had several similar problems like this, but were always willing to overlook it. Not any more based on the rudeness, undependability, and unprofessionalism of the management. There are TONS of Indian restaurants in the East Bay. No need to waste your time on this one. read more

We've ordered delivery from Mehak a few times now and have been impressed by the quality each time. The flavors are rich but balanced. We've enjoyed their veg dishes, their meat curries, and their saag paneer. I haven't had a chance to dine in at Mehak yet, so I can't comment on the restaurant itself or table service. Best value of food to price for Indian food in the north oakland/south Berkeley area. Yummy tikka masala, full aluminum tins of saag paneer and baingan bharta, and warm, full-size stuffed naan. Owned by such nice people and I've literally never had a mistake on my order. I am shocked to see 3.5 at this place. Mehak offers a unique take on Indian food and there is no restaurant that comes close in my opinion. I love the unique flavor of their chicken tikka masala, in fact, I go out of my way to have Mehak dishes since I like them so much. The onion kulcha is second to none, seriously if you haven't tried it yet you must! It's to die for. They load up the bread with onion and it goes great with curries. It's always sort of a race to get some of it from everyone else at the table. When I am hungry and don't feel like paying an arm and a leg for Indian food, this is my go-to place. As usual, I hesitate to leave reviews of my favorite restaurants because they inevitably get more popular as more people catch on. These guys rock! read more

2.5 takeaway. "Mehak" means fragrance in Urdu. MSG (Desi himself) ordered for us, Larger portions of food for takeout, but honestly, neither of us was impressed by the flavor or taste.
