I visited Megan's Nails for the first time and immediately determined that it would be the place to pamper myself! They greeted me warmly at the door with smiles and polite assistance The spa pedicure was the best I ever had! When it came to getting the design done the lady who's in charge of doing designs could not make the simple design I asked for. After I told her I didn't like it she drew another heart but then took it off. She told me to look for another design and I asked for a simple glitter line that she couldn't even do. She then proceeded to say no design for you and I told her I had already payed for the design. I went here a week ago got the first time hoping for a good experience based on the reviews. Oh No. The service was awful. They are hurried and rude. They do not listen. Are very manufactured rush you in pointing you in certain directions screaming at customers if they want to change their polish color. My nails were chipping 4 days later I paid $40 for gel polish. Pictures posted. I came back on the 5th day they made me wait an hour before fixing it and she only buffed them down and polished it again with the same polish. Do not visit for dip! I was in the area and wanted a pedicure and dip for my hands. I needed 3 tips added to make all my nails match. The tips added were not properly shaped so they don't match. She did not do a base powder so the color doesn't pop. That coupled with only 2 coats instead of 3 shows me she did not know what she was doing. She ended with with a UV top coat?!? What? I went back in this morning to ask them to fix the ingrown nail and they said I had to buy a complete pedicure. I walked in for a manicure, and left with a bloody finger shomehow, despite the fact that I left without a manicure. The gentleman who polished my fingers didn't soak my hands, push back my cuticles, or even so much as put lotion on my hands. He ripped my finger with a buffer, then got upset with me when I pointed out that my nails weren't symmetrical, or even smooth for that matter. I will never step foot in this place ever again! I used to go there last summer since it was close to my job and I could could at lunch. Never really had any problems. So, I decided to for my lunch hour yesterday for a pedicure. Hadn't been since last year. It was the worst experience! Now, I'm not a paranoid person, but I know my nail technician was talking about me in her native language very loudly the entire time. Even went as far as pointing at me while she's doing this! This place isn't worth your time or money. Giving it 2 stars because the color is really pretty but the application was awful. The woman who did my nails was very brute which is fine but she applied the gel on with nail file dusting still on my nails. This made some of my nails bake unevenly (with bumps, bubbles, and ridges) as well, she missed the sides and corners which resulted in 3 of my nails chipping in 2-3 days. Will never go here again. I dropped in on a Friday around 4pm for a manicure. I saw the decent reviews on Yelp and thought I would give it a try. The place was packed. Apparently they have a lot of loyal clients but my experience was horrible. The manicurist barely looked at me or spoke to me. She was speaking Vietnamese loudly to her colleagues the whole time and looking around everywhere but at my hands. She pulled a dirty cuticle cutter out of her pocket. And went to work. That grossed me out. I wasn't sure about the color I picked and wanted to try another. She wasn't having it. The manicure took about 5 minutes tops. I've been going to Megan's for over a year now, and this is hands down my favorite nail shop in Memphis. I have never had a broken nail after my visit with them because they're pretty generous with dip and acrylics. The place looks really nice, there's lot of color variety, and this is one of the few places that gets the length and shape exactly as I want it. I usually go coffin or stiletto/point with a good bit of length. After going there so long, I love being able to walk in and being greeted by familiar faces. They're really nice folks, and as someone who has a lot of family and friends in the nail tech business, they are top tier for sure. And as an aside, I was shocked to find out that some people don't tip their nail tech! Just for any place, if you like the work, show them some love. But, there I sat for a long time as the person who was going to do my manicure was already doing 2 others simultaneously. When I complained about the wait much discussion in either Korean or Vietnamese ensued. The amount of talking in another language right in front of customers, always a rude practice, was much more than usual here. The technician was rough and aggressive with the tools on my skin. Awesome!!! I love this place. Tons of pedi chairs. Very clean and very friendly staff. Seems like they recently expanded and added new equipment. A couple of people walked in right before they were supposed to close and they welcomed them in. -not saying to come in late but they are very sweet and accommodating. They also are reasonably priced. My grandmother and I each got a pedi, I got a no chip mani and my grandma got a fill-in and our total was $105- I thought that was a great price. I went at 12:30pm and they were packed but I was out by 1:30. I didn't wait long at all. They did exactly what I wanted for pretty cheap. Fast service. Don't expect for this time to be relaxing. They are extremely rushed and rough. There are some small minor mistakes on my nails that could have been prevented if they would have just slowed down. The man who did my nails has no business doing nails! I went in and got the S&S nails put on. It should have taken a half hour or less. I left 2hours later with nails he had to fix 3 times!! You could see through the tips of my nails. I just soaked them off and found out he dug deep into my nail bed!!!! I'm a regular customer. I come here for a mani/pedi twice a month. I arrived for my birthday monthly pedicure and noticed that they were busy. I anticipated that I would have to wait. I sat in the pedicure chair with my feet soaking for 30 mins. Two other ladies came in after me about 15 mins later. I continued to wait and the two ladies who happened to to be white began being served before me. I waited for another approximate 10 mins and I still did not receive service so I wiped off my feet, put my shoes on and left. No one addressed me. This is not the first time I felt mistreated. On previous occasions, I have been talked about for having natural nails and not wanting to get acrylic or gel. I have often felt discriminated against because the white patrons don't receive this kind of treatment. I will not patronize this business again. read more

It amazes me how many people rate this as more than 2 stars. The only reason I am rating it 2 stars is because it is spacious, clean and cheap. However, that is not my top priority when I go to get my nails done. My top priority is my nails. WTF. I had my nails done at KT's nails for over 17 years. I get acrylics. In 17 years I only had to have the nails removed and replaced 3 times. The average age of nails at Megans seems to be about 2 months. They rarely put the oils to prevent fungal infection, they NEVER push my cuticles back (they are so ragged right now it is hideous). They do not take off or put on enough acrylic around the nail beds, they cannot shape an even nail and 75% of the people there struggle when trying to apply polish. They seriously approach it sort of like a 5 year old who is trying hard to get it right but does not have the motor skills. I don't want fast cheaply done nails. I want nails done right. They do my nails in 1/3 of the time would take if Tom at KT's was still doing them. I have literally been to 8 different nail places since Tom disappeared and had multiple people at each place try. IT'S NOT ROCKET SCIENCE .. IS THERE NO WHERE TO GET NAILS DONE RIGHT. And don't even get me started on the pedicure. They give good massage but once again. I don't get a pedicure for the massage. read more
