I have been a customer for 5+ years. Jenny + Helen are typically the two women working. Over time we developed some level of "friendship" and respect for each other during my visits. While I wouldn't say this shop delivers the best nail experience on the block - I was happy to support a local business and the casual conversation that accompanied it. On my most recent visit to Jenny on Thursday afternoon - October 11th, I had my typical service performed (a shellac mani + pedi). Two. Days. Later. On Saturday, October 13th, I was at SAMs club and reached inside of my purse to grab my shopping list and when I pulled my hand out, I noticed the shellac on my right thumbnail had completely come off - in one piece. On Monday, October 15th, I washed my hair in the shower. Upon doing so, every single shellac nail slid off of my nailbeds. I have never experienced any prior issues with a shellac manicure. I thought back to my recent visit and was curious if maybe the shellac used on me this time could have been old, beyond its shelf life (remembering that Helen was combining old with new bottles). While I was sad that this occurred, I wasn't mad about it but decided I would call and inform Jenny to simply alert her to the defect in case other customers experienced the same. On Tuesday, October 16th, I contacted Megan Nails and asked to speak to Jenny directly. I very kindly explained to her my recent experience in detail and she quickly became defensive. Jenny told me that if I stopped in, "I will fix it - for you." I told her that I knew my immediate schedule was extremely tight and I wasn't sure when I'd be able to stop back in. I offered to take photos and or save the whole pieces of shellac paint that came off. She advised me that wouldn't be necessary and to just come in whenever and she would fix it for me. I again stressed that I didn't know a specific time when I could come back in but I knew it wouldn't be within the week because of my schedule. She said that was ok. Saturday, November 4th was my first next opportunity to go back into the nail salon. I had already decided on the drive in I was not going to allow Jenny to give me an entirely free service but would be happy with just a discounted service (maybe half off) and I'd still tip her. I know this is how they make their money and since this was the first time I had ever experienced a problem, I was willing to meet her halfway. As I approached the appointment book to sign in and write my service request, Helen stopped and looked at me and said, "We no longer service you!" The client in her chair snapped her neck and looked at me like WTH is going on. I was completely caught off guard thinking maybe she thought I was someone else. I responded and said, "I'm sorry, I don't understand... what do you mean you no longer service me!?" Helen said, "We no longer do your nails. We don't service you no more. You can go." And she motioned with her hand towards the door, indicating for me to leave. I looked at Jenny and inquired, "Jenny!? I'm extremely confused. Did something happen? Why am I being treated in this manner?" Jenny would not look up/at me and responded, "I don't know what's going on with your nails. Shellac not good for you. I can't do shellac for you. I don't know what's going on with your nails." I was annoyed. Helen told me to go somewhere else to get my nails done and reiterated one more time that they no longer service me. I went out to the parking lot where I reflected about what had just occurred. It did not sit well with me that a poor quality of product/service I had paid for and the offer to fix it was not going to be honored on top of the way they treated me. Rather than go back into the shop, I decided to simply call and ask for reimbursement. I phoned and Helen answered. I asked to speak to Jenny. She took pause and told me Jenny was not available (I believe she recognized my voice). I then revealed to her that it was me and I had just left and I while I will honor the request to not give them my future business, the fact remains - the shellac slid off of my nails within days of the application and Jenny offered to fix it. I requested that she either fix my nails today and/or process a refund for my most recent visit. She told me that I should not have waited over 3 weeks to come in for the fix, within days. I responded and told her I explained to Jenny that I would not be available immediately and there was no time attached to when the repair needed to be made. I asked again for my nails to be fixed and are reimbursed. She told me she would not do either and told me to sue her. This is a terrible way to operate a business and treat an extremely loyal customer. I, too, work hard for my money and it is not OK to unjustly vilify me in front of other patrons due to the poor quality of the product that was sold to me and a promise that was made to me to fix the issue. A white lady walked in after me and they were very friendly, spoke to her and did not ask her to pay before she got her service done. very uncomfortable and felt like I wasn't welcomed and was discriminated against. read more

This a family ran salon. Helen and Jenny are sweet and great at costumer service. My mom been going to them since I was young and now that I'm older Iv been going there. If you want something simple and affordable then this is the place. Their shop is always clean and they stay on theme of each holiday. read more

I love this place. The times I have been were completely fine. The longest I ever had to wait was about 15 minutes and they were busy. The women who did mine and my roommates nails were so nice and made me feel comfortable. To be honest, I tried another nail place just to see the difference (it was cincy nails) and that place was horrific. I learned my lesson and from now on i only go to Megan nails. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because there was one time I asked for my nails to be shorter and she ignored me but whatever. Yolo amiright? I used to frequent this salon when I lived on the West side. A family own store, the salon is always very clean and tidy. Helen is amazing! Unlike those typical nail salons where you can't really understand what they're saying - Helen is super amiable and funny. She makes you feel comfortable and enjoy the entire experience of being pampered. read more

I walked into Megan Nails on a weekend hoping to get a manicure. When I walked in the smell of acetone immediately overwhelmed me to the point I had to take a minute to catch my breath. I could hear women talking and laughing loudly in the back of the store where I could not see, and there was one girl waiting up front. A woman heard the door open and came around the corner long enough to bark at me, "You sign in there!" and went back to what she was doing. The girl who was waiting told me she had already been there for an hour. Knowing how people tend to exaggerate when they feel like they've been left to wait for a long time, I checked the sign-in log and saw that she had, in fact, signed in an hour and five minutes prior to my arrival. I was already feeling a little uncomfortable from the odor, the shortness of the woman who told me to sign in, and not really wanting to wait over an hour to be seen (although I admit I didn't make an appointment, the door has a sign, "walk-ins welcome"). Then the girl who was also waiting told me that there had been another worker there who was doing someone else's nails, but when that customer left she went in the back and hasn't come back out since. So, they had a customer waiting for over an hour, and staff available, but wouldn't come out to tend to her. I waited there for about 25-30 minutes, listening to the woman chatting with her "customer" in the back. I put "customer" in quotes because it doesn't take an hour and-a-half to tend to one person, even if she were getting a super-mega-deluxe-awesome-all-the-works-mani/pedi/back rub. No matter what she was having done, it didn't take that long and they were obviously sitting back there chatting and NOT doing any real work. After hanging around for a half hour being completely ignored (by this time, even if the other staff in the back had been taking a break, her break would have been over long ago), I crossed my name off the sign-in log and left. On 11/23/2016 I went to this nail salon while waiting for may son to finish basketball practice at a near by high school, and I was not very happy with the end results. Granted the people are very nice and they engage in conversation but the work was not executed very well. I wear my natural nails and just get the shellac. They soaked my nail removed all the old shellac and proceeded to re-polish my nails. The polish was not evenly laid and thin looking so the color was much lighter than it should been instead of looking rich and luxurious. The next day while I was working on my Thanksgiving dinner I had a nice piece of my left thumb polish lift and peel right off. I was shocked as I have been getting shellac for sometime and as rough as I am on my nails it started to all peel. I was hoping I could make this a regular stop as I am on this side of town regularly. But I guess not. Like I said the two ladies were very nice but the first impression has discouraged me for future visits or suggesting this place. read more

Worst place ever!!! Do not waste your money! I went there on this particular Friday because my normal nail salon had a long wait. I desperately needed my nails done and being a single mom every other Friday right after work (leaving early on those Fridays) is the only time I really have available. I called a number of other nail salons around town and they all had a wait. Megan Nails were the only ones who had no wait (that should have been clue #1). When I arrived to their place no customers where in there (should have been clue #2). The lady welcomed me and was cheery so I stayed. She asked me what I would like to have done to nails then asked for payment before she would start (should have been clue #3..smh). I was a bit hesitant and I told her that I have never been asked for payment before receiving the services and that this is really odd. She then told me that they have had customers who come in and leave without paying quite frequently. So I then paid. She proceeded to do my nails. She was very friendly and amicable but during the process I could tell that she hasn't done this often b/c she asked if places put the top coat on before or after putting a design on my nail. Another reason why I could tell she has not done it often is because she did not know how to do designs. During the process when putting my hands under the lamp she told me that it didn't work properly and that should take turns lifting my pinky and thumb up toward the lights so it would work. When she was finished she I tipped her well (20%) just because she was amicable but I was not real pleased with the job because my nails didn't look as polished and missed that shine professionally complete nails have. Sure enough that night the color on nail began to chip. By the end of the next not only the color on the nails begin to chip of but the color started to yellow from the middle and drug out. I called the salon and informed them what was going on and they said I should come back in. When I went, the lady said "well what did you do to your nails" I told her "nothing". She said did you use any chemicals I said no. I explained to her that even when I wash dishes I use disposable gloves to specifically guard my nails. The other lady that was there, who spoke clear English, would then switch to their native language and speak lengthily to the other lady who would then respond that there is nothing they will do for me. I told them this has never happened to me and have been getting shellac for 3 years know. I told them that even when I used bleach my nails in the past, they have never turned. The other lady would them speak her language to the other lady then that lady would turn around and tell me there is nothing wrong with the job and it is my fault. The lady speaking the other language then clearly spoke English to me and tried to coax me into saying that I did something to my nails for them to change like that. Then the other lady would jump in and say that you need to stop chipping at your nails. Your chipping at your nails and that is why the polish chipped. They did nothing to correct their mistake. It is the WORST NAIL SERVICE I have ever received. I recommend that you NEVER EVER go to Megan Nails even when you are in desperate need of having your nails done. Please DO NOT waist your money there. read more
