As an experienced rider, I was looking for a trail ride that would not be the stereotypical nose-to-tail walking trail ride that is so commonly offered, and this trail ride did not disappoint! We were able to ride in a pack, side-by-side each other. We rode from the ranch, out through a pasture, and up a hillside to the top of the butte. On the butte, they let us experienced riders do more than walk on our horses. Amy, Josh, and Josh were so warm and welcoming and shared some history about the area. Fantastic tour guides, and amazing humans. My friend and I were visiting Colorado for about a week, and Amy gave us some recommendations of additional things to do/see while we were in the area, as well. Next time I make it back to Colorado, I would absolutely go back and visit Platte Ranch again. Cannot recommend this place enough for those looking for a truly awesome riding experience in the mountains!!

But I still enjoy horses and being out in nature so much that I try to go when we are on vacation just for fun. This place is anything but a nose-to-tail trail ride. The horses were all fantastic, the wranglers were very friendly, very informative, and amazing at their job, and the scenery was breathtaking. I would almost go back to Colorado for another vacation just to go riding here again. I cannot recommend it enough!!! Not only was the ride amazing, and the scenery too, but our trail guides were the very best. They engaged with each one individually, tried to learn a little about each of us and made sure everyone was having a good time, that we were all comfortable, and they let us know several times to just ask if there was anything we needed. It was fabulous!

I felt so guilty even riding the sleigh with how miserable the horses were, but another person in our group had purchased all the tickets in advance as a treat for everyone The "trail" was complete mud and rocks and the horses were working so hard they had to stop and rest every few minutes - Thankfully, they allowed them to rest, but they should not have even been operating in those conditions! The ride was painfully rough. Absolutely not worth the $50 per person! Everything was dirty slush by mid-March, but the trail is more of a track, no wooded area, not really any views. The horses were absolutely miserable - dragging a loaded sleigh thru icey, muddy riches. They have a small paddock - I wouldn't even call it a pasture. And no shelter - Yes, these horses are content to stay outdoors 99.9% of the time, but they should have an optional covered area available at least.

Thank you to the staff that works there and the delicious spiked apple cider that kept us warm the whole way, and not to mention the s'mores at the fire pit afterwards that was such a special touch on the afternoon. These stables are great for a group of friends or family with young kids and older kids. Just an all-around lovely experience. Thank you so much for the memories.. Henry the Horse is your VIP!!

Fantasy Ranch - I rode Gator for the first ride. I suppose his name comes from his really long face. He was gentle and well behaved, also handsome

Everyone at the ranch was very nice. Sage was a wonderful guide. she pointed out landmarks, shared information about the horses and the area. I enjoyed the ride and scenery so much I went with the second group of the day as well. Sidney was the guide for my second ride. We took a different trail and saw more beautiful CO scenery. The horses are well cared for at this ranch. That's important to me. The guides all worked well together to make everyone comfortable and happy. Chuck runs a smooth operation there. It was a fantastic experience. Thanks to all at Fantasy Ranch.

The horses are all pretty experienced and it's an easy ride. I haven't taken a few friends who have never ridden before and they had the time of their lives. The views are incredible and so is the staff (including the horses). My family coming from Oklahoma is pretty experienced in riding but there is nothing like riding up a trail in the mountains! Highly recommended
