I explained to the service tech what was wrong and he immediately tried to sell me a $450-$500 full bike service. Absolutely INSANE. When I told him that I didn't really want to spend that much and asked if he'd consider addressing just the rear hub, he completely lost interest. I walked out, went to Alex's Bicycle shop just up the road in Weston. They knew exactly what was wrong, quoted me ~$50 for the job and would call me if anything changed. Less than 24 hours later they called to tell me my bike was done. They replaced the rear cassette for $40 and charged me $15 for labor. Trek service department is just shameful. Predatory service tactics like a greasy mechanic shop trying to upsell. BUYER BEWARE!

I asked for any consideration at all -- partial refund or even store credit for unused time. They didn't care. The manager wouldn't engage in the conversation or even make eye contact. Warning to others: if your ride ends early for any reason, don't expect flexibility or customer service. Once they have your money, that's the end of the relationship. Bike rentals are one thing. You ran over a nail, & have been off your bike for over week. You wait for the specific, difficult to find, replacement tires to arrive. Then you're told that they won't install tires that are the exact same brand as your bicycle?? Let's be honest, you didn't even have my specific tires in stock! You wanted to sell some off brand garbage tires. Your bicycle shop is an embarrassment. I can say that because I've been to hundreds of shops all over NYC, NJ, Philly, & FL.
