If I wanted to I could prop my feet up and not have to leave the boat. The couches are so comfortable! The captain is a great guy and apart of the new management. I don't know what happened before but I've booked up for September again, and may of 25' fish on!

Worst charter trip I've ever taken…read more Last week I chartered the VI (Southern Sports Fishing Inc) with nine of my friends. I should have known something was up when the captain arrived at the dock 2 1/2 hours late. After we boarded the boat and unpacked, the captain told us he was having engine trouble and had burned 20 gallons or oil in a two hour period. We were scheduled to leave biloxi at midnight but was delayed again because the engines wouldn't start. When one of the crew members realized the reason the engine wouldn't start was because the boat was in drive and not in neutral, we were finally underway. Trying to remain optimistic, I kept reminding myself that as long as we made it to the Chandeleur islands safe that we would spend very little time on the ship and three full days out on the water catching fish. Day 1: Arrived to the Chandeleur islands an hour and a half late and missed the morning bite due to engine problems. Lost another hour and a half due to engine problems on three of the skiffs. Unfortunately had to tow one of our buddy's skiffs behind us to go wade fishing so he and his son wouldn't be stuck on the mothership. By lunch, only two out of six skiffs were operable but still had fuel issues on the two. During lunch the ice machine on board broke. The second half of the day we fished near the mothership due to skiff engine problems. Day 2: Was told by the captain that the crew stayed up all night working on the skiffs and that everything was working great. By 2pm we found out from a neighboring boat (because our skiffs were not supplied with radios) that three skiffs were stranded and broken down. The captain took off in a skiff to try and fix the three stranded vessels. While the captain was gone, the owner tried to relocate the mothership from new harbor island down to the pelican so we would be closer to our friends that were broken down. At this point, we had issues getting the anchor up bc of problems with the anchor winch. After the anchor was up, a component in the engine room broke and started flooding the engine room. After the captain returned back to the mothership, he informed us all to constantly pump the fuel lines on the skiffs while driving or "jiggle" the fuel tanks to keep them running (you can't make this stuff up). By 5pm, all but two skiffs needed to be towed back to the mothership. We told the captain we were very unhappy and demanded to cut our trip a day short and go home. The captain apologized and eventually agreed to give each of us a partial (1/3) refund. After arriving back at dock, the captain went back on his original offer and only refunded a fraction of his original offer. This captain has no business being in charge of a boat, crew or guests. We never once felt safe on this trip and should have been given full refunds. DO NOT use Southern Sports Fishing.

Im not too happy at all…read more First let me say that the people at the desk are very nice and this is probably not their fault. I think maybe the company is owned by greedy people. I took my tiny little boat in there to have the engine checked out because it would not run correctly. Just a 25 HP motor. They quoted me about $150 to diagnose the motor. I left it there and after a few days they called to tell me that it was a bad fuel pump. I had already pulled the pump and tested it and told them that. They said it would be around $600 for a new vct and fuel pump. I told them that could not be it because I already tested it. They said they would re diagnose it and after a few more days they told me I had low compression on one of the cylinders and that I needed a new powerhead, basically a new motor. They then told me that they had almost $1000 in billing on checking it out which shocked me because the bill was supposed to be about $150. It gets better, keep reading. So, they said Suzuki was offing a special trade in deal on new motors and if I let them keep the motor I could buy the new motor for about $4400 give or take $100, I am going from memory but it was around that price. What a deal right? The other option was for me to pay them $650 (a reduced price from the almost $1000 they claimed they had in billing on checking my motor out) and take my broken motor home and not buy a new motor from them. So they overcharged me by a lot and were holding my motor and boat hostage. I called around and found a great dealer in Florida (boat max marine) who sold me a brand new motor for $500 less than roughwallet quoted. (it was the exact same model number) AND that included free shipping and no sales tax. I called roughwallet before pulling the trigger to see if they could match the price and they would not lower their price AT ALL! So, the special they claimed that Suzuki was offering (a limited time offer) seemed to be a complete sham. How could Suzuki's offer be real if I could buy the same motor from another retailer for less money without giving them my motor for free. If there was such a real deal from Suzuki it is my opinion that rough water marine would be keeping the money that should go to me. So I paid the raping fee of $650, took my motor and boat home. I purchased the new motor from boat marine max and installed it on the boat. I then advertised parts off the motor they said was bad and to this date have sold over $2000 in parts off of that motor and have a lot left. Also I found after selling so many parts that the power head appears to be good. It had a bad head gasket. So I paid rough water for a bogus engine report. It did not need a new power head at all. There were other occasions where I purchased things from them. They are very proud of their pricing but are comparable on some things with Furlands in Gautier where I will be purchasing in the future if I need things in a hurry instead of ordering online. It is important to note that to get that deal from boat max marine I did not have to give them my old motor. I got to keep it so rough water marine was going to make money on my old motor, thousands! and they wanted me to not only give it to them for free but on top of that pay $500 more for the new motor they claimed I was getting a great deal on with my trade in. I dont feel the need to ever darken the door of roughwater ever again. I feel that roughwater marine is like a casino, if you decide to do business with them you most likely lose every time.
