Great port and beach. Clean and well maintained. Loved the scenic beauty here. Lot of port machinery and ships on one side and other side of road with beach and the small small raised booth made on water for lot of fishing opportunities. White sands almost and immense water. Very near to light house too.

If you are a beach snob, you will most likely not agree with this review. If you aren't, you will soon know the awesomeness that is Gulfport, MS. As a child my family and I spent a lot of time on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Playing on the beach with my family are some of my fondest memories. Those memories are so strong that I wanted to make sure my children had a chance to experience the same sort of fun. What Gulfport is: Gulfport is close to New Orleans. It is between 1-1:15 hour(s) from the city. This is one of the closest beaches to the city, and in my opinion, the best. The beach does not get a lot of use. Sure plenty of people go to the beach, but there is so much available beach area, it is easy to get your own private spot. Avoid the areas where jet skis and whatnot are rented unless you like large crowds. Good, family friendly fun. You can drink on the beach (I think), but acting like an ass is discouraged. Some areas actually have Sheriff's Office beach patrol, but most do not. If you want to be foolish, just make sure you get your own private spot. What Gulfport is not: Sure the beach is comprised of beautiful white sand, but if you're looking for crystal clear water, you won't find it. The water is clean, but there are lots of sticks, etc. from the nearby barrier islands. It won't kill you, and it may actually build character. If you don't believe me, just look at how awesome I am. I spent lots of time on that beach. It isn't Miami. Sure you will see the occasional supermodel in a bikini, but this is the beach of real people. This is not the beach to be seen, or see famous people. It is just a great place to soak up the sun (wear sunscreen) and watch the waves. If you're in the New Orleans area and want a great beach, head on over to Gulfport.

WOW being from the Gulf Coast of Orange Beach/Gulf Shores, this was an awesome experience! Our beaches are SO crowded but wow, here in the Biloxi/Gulfport area it is absolutely beautiful! Uncrowded! AND to top it all off you can park curbside at the beach. Our new go to place!!!

This beach is fairly small in width, but in length... Its defnitely longer that stretches from Biloxi, to Gulfport, then to Long Beach next to US 90 highway/interstate. Its a quick access to visit different ports of the city in regards to access points to get from point a to point b. IN the other hand. Some parts of the beach can be hit or miss in regards to how clean the sands are. So keep an eye on the look out for some debris that isnt suppose to be in the beach. Now from hearing rumors about the sewage problems. Dont swim in the water if you have a cut in your skin. Rumors states that you can harbor in flesh eating bacteria and could loose a limb or severely die! Overall, great place to tan, have a small bon fire get together on the sandy beach (with permit), walk with your signficant other, have a picnic, read a book and hear the ocean waves, watch the sunset, or catch baby crabs. And speaking form experience weather wise, its a nice grogeous day at least for me passed the Hurricane Season. Am in Biloxi from Dec 2015-March 2016 stationed here for a little bit. So weather is awesome so far!

$20 to rent. Rented on a Sunday July 4th weekend so prices may be cheaper during the week / non holiday weekend

It's a clean beach. Usually very low key as well. The sand is soft and there's never a lot of people there. It's never crowded. Only problem is that the water is usually a little dirty and it's very shallow for quite awhile. Tried to rent jet skis and they were charging $150/hr (wtf? Might as well buy one for that kind of $$). But overall it deserves 4 stars because of the beautiful clean white sand and lack of crowds!

Actually much nicer than I had anticipated there is a ton of activities to do, shopping, boating excursions out to the islands. They have fun fir kids too in the border of Gulfport and biloxi called big play and another speed track that's the fastest on the south. They go 50 mph. I still like along Beach Better.

I didn't know what to expect of the beaches in Mississippi but, on our way to Mobile from New Orleans, we decided to take a drive next to the ocean. This was an awesome decision because we were met with blue skies and white sand beaches to stare at. Unfortunately the beach isn't dog friendly but, we were able to walk the dog on the path next to it. I took my shoes off and walked out onto the fluffy and soft sand; putting my feet in the sand is probably my most favorite feeling in the world. I sat down and let the cool breeze blow through my hair as I watched the waves and the birds without another soul on the beach. I sat there for a while and then walked a little while enjoying the beauty and then a storm started rolling in so we decided to get off the beach. I don't know how busy this beach usually is but, I was glad to see a well groomed and maintained beach. If I lived here I would take full advantage of relaxing here!

This beach is really cute, has great potential, but it is a little scruffy. You have to give it a pass, it was ground zero for Katrina. The people here are doing their best to rebuild after the entire area was decimated. The sand is tan, and the grains are small, It is mostly clean and people do a fair job of utilizing the trash cans. The beach is unique. It looks like local ditches drain directly into the gulf, which causes significant amounts of debris on the beach. Leaves, twigs, pine cones, while unusual in some areas are common here. The surf looks stirred up and brown, often like chocolate milk. If you walk a little bit in either direction, you can almost always find something interesting washed up. If you look around, there are people flying kites, and laying in the sun, it is rarely crowded and the sound of the waves make ti a great place to take a nap. I have never been bothered by anyone in this area, and feel safe here. I enjoy watching the military planes in the area, sometimes they run drills and the result is a small airshow. The area is fighting to come back and doing a good job of it. There are new hotels, restaurants and even casinos across from the beach. All in all, it is a short drive from Nola and it's a great place to get a tan!

It is very clean with miles and miles of white sand. The water is usually brown, but isn't dirty or smell bad. Parking is along the highway in places. If you stay at a motel across the highway, you cross at your own peril. There are umbrella rentals and a few food vendors. I didn't see restrooms or port a cans. There are places with facilities, they are probably pay to get in places. There are areas blocked off for nesting birds and there are piers. The port has a boat launch and charters. There is a huge Dole storage house where they unload fruit from Costa Rica.

    Beautiful beach

This is a beautiful beach. The beach itself is clean. Its not crowded. The water is warm. You can rent jet skies or fish off the pier. The perfect place to relax and just take in nature.

According to a resident, locals often frequent Ship Island to sail around on their personal boats, though the Ship Island Excursion boat takes tourists for a 30 minute cruise, at several convenient times throughout the day. The Fort on Ship Island survived Hurricane Katrina, though there was some damage to the amenities on the Island (such as the snack bars and bathrooms). Ship Island is a great destination for fishing and relaxing, and the emerald clear waters are teeming with sealife, and I even saw blue crabs, starfish, pelicans, and...dolphins! Make sure to stay until the sunset, which is spectacular as it illuminates the sky...

We stopped here to spend a little time on the beach and experience the Gulf of Mexico. Unfortunately for us, there are multiple signs that say they do not allow dogs. We travel with our small dog and we don't like to leave her in our vehicle. My husband stayed with her while I checked the beach out for a bit. I really didn't think it was anything special. The sand here is super fine and you will notice that most people are taking their shoes off and leaving them in the parking lot. It's very difficult to get this sand off of you. There was also a smell, I want to say it was like sewage, but it wasn't that strong, just strong enough to make me not want to stay. Because of that I did not venture into the water. As I said, there is a parking area adjacent to this beach and a paved boardwalk that goes around where people were jogging and walking their dogs. This is definitely a functional beach and there were lots of family and children on the beach when I visited.
