R5. Double Tuna Roll
Quinn H.

Stopped in for a late lunch during a recent trip to Sacramento and was very pleased. The staff was kind and attentive and the food was exactly as expected: fresh and delicious!

Eva W.

I ordered take out for lunch. Bento box with chicken Katsu and Agedashi tofu. You get to choose two items for your bento box, and it comes with rice, salad, and miso soup. I called in to order and picked it up. The chicken Kasu was over cooked. I saw the breading of Katsu was dark at first glance. When I tried it, it was very dry. I couldn't eat it. It was edible, but chewy and hard. I was not happy. You can totally tell they over cooked it and they knew, but they served it. They could have easily made me a new piece of chicken. The tofu and miso soup was ok. I've had better. The miso soup was a little bit too salty for my taste. I was very disappointed in the customer service and food. Why serve something that you know that is bad. I would not order take out or eat here again.

This is the newish restaurant that has replaced Oba Kitchen as the neighborhood sushi restaurant by UC Davis hospital. The service is friendly, the food is very tasty, and the interior is clean. We had overall a great time here for a City of Sacramento event, and would return again.

rainbow roll, double salmon roll

came here on a whim on a friday night with a friend, meetu is in a small plaza with plenty of parking and seating inside. the waitress was incredibly kind, and it wasn't busy on a friday night. we got their mixed tempura to share, and it came in a cute little basket. perfectly fried while being not too oily. i opted for their double salmon roll and rainbow roll, both lived up to my expectations! the fish was fresh and not chewy, and for the price point i'd say the portions are well worth it!

I absolutely loved the roll I ordered. I really wanted some miso soup and was greatly disappointed that I paid for what I received. It had no flavor and was very disappointing . My bento was good, not great. I didn't like the sauce on the chicken . I forgot if I ordered sesame chicken or chicken Katsu. They initially brought me out the wrong item I didn't order but corrected it. I love the cucumber salad they serve you complementary. I would recommend this restaurant for a good sushi roll. The Servise is also great and the restaurant was clean and spacious.

Ordered from kiosk upon entering. Miso soup and a coke. It was ready within 5 minutes. Place is clean and attractively decorated, much as it was under Oba. Friendly staff.

So delicious! Under new ownership and doing amazing Japanese cuisine. We enjoyed spicy edamame, ago dashe tofu, beef sukiyaki, vegetable ramen, and California roll. Incredible. Great service, too!

Used to be Oba Japanese but now Meetu. Still great staff, great service and yummy food! I come here every Tuesday for my mother daughter date. I've been bringing my baby here since she was eight months old. She is 3 1/2 now. We enjoy our food here every time we come and we will continue to come here for as long as the service continues to be great.

Meetu Bento Box - Salmon Teriyaki and Chicken Katsu
Cody ..

Summary: absolutely blown away by the quality and freshness of the Bento Box, might be top 3 Salmon Teriyaki and Chicken Katsu I've had in recent memory, and for roughly $20 (there's a $1.50 salmon surcharge) it's a great value as I got two full meals out of my order. My partner was away for the holiday weekend. I made a reverse seared pork chop with pan sauce, roasted veggies, and rice for last night's dinner - it was solid as a meal for one, but I didn't want to deal with dishes again, so I decided to pick up food for dinner. Honestly, when she's away, I lean a little bit too much into goblin mode. Anyway... I ordered via phone around 7:45pm (they stop taking orders at 8:30) and they said my order would be ready in 15 minutes. I asked if I could sub the California Roll in the box with a veggie roll. They politely said no and gave me some other options - I ended up keeping it in the order anyway. No worries since it's a "special" but it was worth a shot! The parking lot is well lit but this intersection frequently feels a bit off whenever I am passing through. The front doors of Meetu have black coverings on them so you might think they're closed; however, when you enter, you're greeted with warm lights and a wooden interior, as well as plenty of tables for customers. I arrived about 12 minutes after I called. The cashier picked up my order before I even said my name - maybe they recognized my voice, although it was late on a Tuesday night and there weren't any other customers, so it's no surprise that was the service I received. They used an extra big bag for my order and the weight felt substantial. I'm going to deviate from my usual scoring of individual aspects like service, flavor, texture, and so on, because there are a lot of different food components in the box. Here's the main review with scores: Salmon Teriyaki 5/5 I would rate it higher if I could. Perfectly cooked and melted in my mouth. The skin was crispy and crunchy. Not drowning in sauce like some other places, and the teriyaki sauce overall was well balanced and complimentary. Presentation was fantastic with the grill marks and all. Absolutely worth the $1.50 extra for this. Chicken Katsu 5/5 Again, 5/5 doesn't do it justice. Tender, juicy, and flavorful. The panko to meat ratio was exactly as it should be. Fried to a deep golden brown without getting too oily. They definitely drop this the moment you order (not sitting under a red lamp) and you can taste the freshness. The only thing I'd mention is the katsu sauce was saltier than I was expecting, but I could still taste the sweetness, tanginess, and umami. Side Salad 5/5 Fresh and crisp. Veggie to dressing ratio was correct as there was only a little bit of dressing left after finishing it. The dressing itself was creamy yet light with a mild sweetness. California Roll 4/5 It didn't blow me away but it was overall what I expected. Again, I wasn't really in the mood for this, but was mildly surprised at the texture of rice, taste, and size of each piece. Rice 5/5 It was still steaming slightly when I opened the top of the box. Great texture and perfect amount of stickiness/moisture. We've all been disappointed by dry, gritty, or low quality rice in the past, but that's not the case at all here! Miso Soup 5/5 It looks like your standard miso soup and I debated on a giving a 4 for this. What bumps it to a 5? It's that it has way more tofu and veggie pieces in it than you normally see at other restaurants. The flavor was on point and it was a good break from the other meal components. - Overall, you can tell Meetu cares about serving great portions of fresh, quality, tasty food at a reasonable price. This spot gives Tokyo Table (a few blocks down the street) a run for their money! I'll certainly return to order other things off their menu as the value to quality ratio is tough to beat. I'm curious about their sushi, ramen, and tempura, plus their happy hour seems like a good deal! Thanks for reading my review. Take care and stay safe out there, friends!

Sabrina V.

The raw fish was super fresh, and the sushi was absolutely delicious! The honey walnut shrimp had an amazing crunch on the outside, and I really enjoyed the broccoli and lettuce that came with it. The food arrived pretty quickly too. I can't wait to come back again!

The restaurant is very pretty and they have indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating is so nice, you can tell a lot of thought went into it versus just adding outdoor tables. This would be a perfect spot for a date, celebration, or business meeting. The service here was great, we were seated right away and they made sure our water cups were filled. I even dropped a chopstick at one point and before I could even ask for a new one they brought me a new set. We were there for lunch and ordered a variety of items to share. We started with the Truffle Hamachi Crudo and Shrimp Tempura. Both were nicely plated and the Truffle Hamachi Crudo was flavorful and fresh and while you could smell and taste the truffle it wasn't overpowering. The shrimp tempura was light and crunchy and was a nice compliment to the Truffle Hamachi Crudo. We shared the East Sac Roll, which was beautifully plated with thinner cuts on each bite. The flavors on this roll were great as well. I also enjoyed a spicy tuna hand roll that was packed with spicy tuna. Prices are comparable to other local spots and everything was fresh and delicious.

Would I come back if in the area? Eh maybe if I have a lotttt of time to wait around for food, but would look to try other places first. Yes the food is fresh, ambiance was nice and dishes were ok tasting, but that for me was those were only really good things there. Felt a bit mislead on certain food items (read below for more on this). Service: this was our first time here so maybe this is standard here? But it took them almost a WHOLE HOUR to serve us only 3 rolls, 2 small plates of sashimi, and another dish ... it wasn't until we asked them how our food was coming along did all the food suddenly appear. Felt like we were a tad forgotten... they did, however, come around to regularly refill our water, were quick at taking our order, answered our questions and frequently checked in after we received our food. No explanation though as to why food took that long to come out nor were we updated. Food: my small group got various food, but I personally only tried 3 of their rolls: - F-4 roll (7.5/10): supposed to have lobster tempura but honestly couldn't taste any of the lobster (maybe because all the sauce overtook it). - salmon lovers (7.9/10): Would've given it a higher score IF we could actually taste or even see the "Torched Salmon" that it has as the very first ingredient in the description on the menu. No where to be found (or maybe we had to look closer?). That was a let down since we were looking forward to that. Overall though if we didn't know "torched salmon" was supposed to be part of it then it's a refreshing salmon and citrusy roll. - Dragon Roll (8/10): it was good but nothing super special compared to other places that serve dragon rolls. Would get again if want something classic. Overall, ingredients felt fresh but collectively in terms of execution fell a bit flat. The rolls are quite large which I did appreciate and enjoy. Environment: it's a very well decorated, clean and modern Japanese restaurant. Has a good amount of indoor and outdoor seating (with heating lamps and string lights). There's one single room restroom as well.

This was the first time we got the nigiri on one whole plate and I'm not sure if it's because they weren't busy or if they changed things around. I'm not sure which one I ate but it had a clear thin layer on it, not sure what fish it was but it just didn't taste right to me. But every other nigiri was great. The rolls were good, bento is still not anything to brag about but it's for the kids and my kid seemed to like the salmon. The main reason I wanted to leave this review was the service. Our server was not friendly, borderline rude but not rude. Never seen her before, she's older. She NEVERRRRRR checked on us at all. She kept putting her fingers on the actual plate when describing the nigiri, didn't even really know which one was which. I was really shocked her fingers were on the plate. She didn't touch the sushi, the plate was big but her fingers were on the plate. Only time she came was to take our order, bring some of the food and that was it. The other servers, the younger two girls and the guy, always amazing! Please let me just say all the servers who are always there are so pleasant and kind so I hate to make this review about a server, but it bothered me.

I did find that it would've been better, if they put a little bit of Sriracha, or spicy something just to give it small little kick because it was more on the bland side. I was really looking forward to the ribs that I ordered as well. For the most part, the meat was tender, and they weren't too saucy, they actually were disappointing because it tasted like the ribs had been prepared, perhaps earlier in the day and then just dunked in some cool sauce. So the meat wasn't warm, nor was the sauce. It's not anything that I would order again. There are plenty of other items to try. I'm a happy hour menu and especially on their regular menu and it's a great place to go with colleagues, happy hour, someone special, or just a fun place to hang with friends.
