Came on a weekend night, and a few other people were also ordering this for dessert. I got the Signature Icy Grass Jelly and Icy Taro Ball #2 for my cousin. I would say the signature icy grass jelly was quite refreshing. I liked the herbal ice flavour. The taro balls had good chewy texture but were on the bland side... My cousin said his icy taro ball #2 was also bland in general. Cash was prompt and we also received our takeout order quickly. Other than never being able to find a parking space in this plaza and also inside the restaurant to sit down, this place serves excellent dessert! I am surprised by the low rating on Yelp. Most of the time I order from their grass jelly series. The best toppings to go with the grass jelly include the chewy mochi, tapioca balls, shaved ice with syrup, sago, and so many more. My favourite is when they add that extra syrup onto the grass jelly and coconut milk. The entire experience is refreshing and delicious on a hot summer day. I highly recommend coming here! Not sure what has happened the past few years, but quality has gone down by quite a bit. I usually get the icy signature (with grass jelly, taro balls, ice and the little cream cup they provide). For some reason it was not that great :( The ice was chunky and stuck together, they charge $1 for the creamer (which is actually a coffee whitener). Also got the hot almond #1 dessert that came with taro balls, tapioca, mung beans and almonds. There were so many choices, I had no idea what to order. We ended up with the Q Mochi Milk Shaved Ice. What we got was a mountain of shaved ice, topped with various garnishes that I don't know the names of. It was definitely large and yummy looking! I really want to love this location since it is close to my neighborhood but I can't. I had 3 visits and this will be my last visit for sure. I came on a weekday, around 9 pm and there were 2 customers but 4 staff in the kitchen. Perhaps it was because of the virus and people afraid to eat out. I was looking for the menu in hard copy because the mochi dish was not on the electronic version on the screen. The cashier pointed toward the right side of the counter, there were a stack of the menu by the wall (um...why can't you tell me instead of pointing finger?). My order was pretty quick because there were 4 people working in the kitchen LOL. I used to order grass jelly without ice and it came with a cream but it was missing this time. I went to the counter right after I got my order and asked for cream and one of the staff said: "We have to charge 75 cents". I was shocked and explained ："the menu stated grass jelly with come with a cream and you didn't give it to me at first." Then he gave it to me without an apology. Why should I pay for your mistake? I also ordered a Jasmine Green Tea because I am thirsty. The tea was definitely overpriced at $5 without toppings. The tea was really bitter and tasted like the tea was made in the morning and it has been sitting there for a long period of time. I gotta say that when trying it, I was really disappointed that it was one of the blandest desserts I've ever had. Worst service! I knew they are pretty new in the location, but I dont think they are ready to open for public yet. Cafe is not too busy on Saturday night, but it took 25 mins to make 2 desserts. decided to check this place out because I have heard a lot of good things about it! this place is a healthy alternative for dessert lovers and has many standard Asian desserts. I liked that it included a lot of toppings but the ice itself is not very flavourful and has a light brown sugar grass jelly taste. I found that it tasted better after mushing everything up so that the ice had some grass jelly flavour. overall it was pretty good but not the best because of the lack in ice flavour. the mochi was squishy and probably the best part. I could taste slight taro and sweet potato flavour. I couldn't finish this so I would recommend this to be shared between two people. the great thing is that we got a coupon from signing up for the points program so it was buy one get one free. Love that they have a new location! I came on grand opening weekend to get the Almond drink with sweet potato balls. There was no line up (probably because of the cold) but I liked that it didn't take forever like the other location. The drink came out fast and super hot. Which was perfect because the other location sometimes comes warm rather than hot. This is the perfect drink for the winter to warm up your soul! They have a loyalty program unsure of how points and rewards work as the employee never explained it but I signed up. They gave me a buzzer for my order. We looked around the shop to pick a place to sit and almost every table I walked up to was dirty. Doesn't seem like the employees wiped down the tables or cleaned the floor because there was A LOT of garbage on the floor. Pretty gross still thinking about it. We got our order fairly quickly. The first thing I noticed was the natrel creamer in the tiny containers. Usually the other places I go to, provides the creamer in an actual creamer holder. MUCH MORE PRESENTABLE! I was very confused. Also, we all know that those TINY TINY creamers don't hold much cream in them. So I asked my boyfriend to ask them for an extra one. They told him it will cost $0.75. Wow. I can buy a whole bag for $6 at Costco. Yes, I know businesses has to make money somehow. HOWEVER, if I'm paying $8.7 for a bowl of herbal jelly dessert, that is made to be complemented with creamers, I would HOPE that it would AT LEAST come with a proper amount to be able to enjoy it with! But I guess since my bowl was barely half full it also made sense for the lack of creamer. The herbal jelly was good. Could be more flavourful. The shaved ice went well with the jelly. The taro balls were okay. There was a bunch that stuck together. It didn't really taste like taro in my opinion. For $8.7 it was not worth it. The portions is so small. And after looking at some of the photos here, it looks like this place is very inconsistent with portion control. Moving on to the Q mochi and almond pudding. Came with 4 tiny pieces of mochi. I honestly can't remember the flavours. 2 white and 2 black. It had some roasted coconut pieces on top. The first bite, it tasted really good but after that it wasn't anything spectacular. The almond pudding was okay. Had red bean on top. It was $5.70. Would not order again. The total came to $16.25. Damn, for this price, I definitely do not think it's worth the money. The bowl was big but the portion was small. And couldn't even give me more creamer. The place is dirty. For this price I could've gotten better dessert and service. Will not be returning. No taro ball QQ flavour, no peanut flavour, everything just tasted watery. I've tried this dessert in Taiwan and other locations around GTA so I know it's just this location. It's supposed to taste cold with ice on the bottom but not watered down ice and there's suppose to be more sugar syrup. Portions are towards the smaller side and kind of pricy (~$10 per item). One thing I didn't like was that they were going to charge $0.75 for extra packet of milk which I ended up not getting. I've tried both their hot and cold versions of the Meet Fresh Signature grass jelly and enjoyed both. The ingredients seemed pretty good and I really liked the chewiness of their taro balls. I normally almost always get takeout and rate it 3 stars because there is a huge difference between the eat in and take out sizes. The eat in dining is a generous large serving while takeout container size is almost half that size. As well, the staff there really could use some training. They never ask you to join their loyalty program nor do they give you the points for your purchase unless you specifically mention it to them. This is my second time giving Meet Fresh a shot after being disappointed at my first visit. This experience is the definition of "don't judge a book by its cover". During the first visit, I had seen a couple groups eating what looked like shaved ice and was intrigued at the size and the aesthetic of the dessert... Food: Fast forward to my second visit, two weeks later, I ordered a strawberry shaved ice. When you order, you're given a buzzer which rings when it's your turn to pick up the dessert. When I went to pick my shaved ice up, I saw that it was huge and nicely arranged. As I was about to try it, I realized one of my spoons were extremely sticky as if it was not cleaned properly so I got up and exchanged it for a new one. I have to say this was one of the worst shaved ice desserts I have ever gotten. The mountain of ice is drenched in two different types of syrup or jam and condensed milk. The taste of the strawberry syrup was so artificial and on top of the brown sugar or herbally syrup (not sure what the brown syrup was) the dessert was way too sweet. However, one good thing about this dessert was that it had fresh strawberries on it, but the ones we received were extremely sour. My boyfriend and I could not finish this dessert as it was so hard to eat and we can typically eat 2 large shaved ices from other restaurants like it's nothing, so not being able to finish this mountain of sugar was surprising. We also got a free drink as we signed up for a rewards card and the options were mango green tea or strawberry black tea (I believe). The mango green tea tasted so artificial and extremely sweet even after choosing the 50% sugar option. Environment: We visited on a Tuesday night and the place was very empty except for one or two other groups. The bottom screen of the menu flashes different pictures of items on the menu and also features items not stated on the menu (such as waffle desserts). Price: The shaved ice was $12.70 and the mango green tea was not on the menu. Conclusion: I will not be returning to Meet Fresh as this is the second time I've been disappointed.
