I was sad to see the Manhattan location close down but was thankful there is one in Jersey City!  This has become a semi regular spot of mine when I'm in the mood for a dessert.  I often go with a friend and we'll have dessert dates here.  Our favorites include the tofu pudding series or the grass jelly signature series.  During the summer my current favorite is the Icy Grass Jelly Signature C but I've had the hot version on a cooler day.  The hot grass jelly doesn't have as much structure so the cold version is definitely better. The portion size is solid and it really hits the spot!  You have the option to build your own if you don't like the preset options which is great.  When taro is included in the dessert, while good, it's a huge chunk so after I tried it, I usually opt out now since it's not super digestible and is a bit dry (I appreciate the generosity/amount though). This is a fast casual spot so interactions with staff are usually minimal and you can place orders on one of their two kiosks (or directly with a person at the front).  Other items of note, the loyalty program wasn't super straightforward to sign up for and you couldn't do it right away from the kiosk.  It requires you to download the app and sign up before you could get any benefits so that was slightly frustrating since you'd miss out if you didn't have time to do that immediately. I usually go to Meet Fresh for their desserts though I have also tried their drinks.  Some of their specialty drinks are nice (I tried a grass jelly slushie that was seasonal at the time and I enjoyed that a lot) but their other regular bubble tea drinks aren't particularly standout (though they are expensive). Seating is also more limited now than it used to be since the space is shared with another store that sells Chinese smoked meats and cold appetizers.  I'm still a huge fan of theirs and will continue to frequent their location.  They make desserts well so give them a try if you're in the area! read more

Stopped by again in October 2025 - the red bean wasn't cooked much at all (very hard beans instead of a red bean paste which would've been easier to eat), the boba wasn't ready (it was already an hour after opening time), and so a bottleneck of orders came about. Eventually the staffer asked if I wanted to sub out with something else... mini Q and mochi good. Just tough to swallow that a dessert is $15 now for shaved ice and some toppings. They also have a Ziyan store right in the same shop now, using up some of the prior space that was just seating. Efficient. read more

Came here for some Taiwanese dessert for me and mom. I got the brown sugar boba tea and hot red bean soup with taro. Love the boba texture, soft but chewy, great tea flavor. Red bean soup is very rich. Self order kiosk or you can order at the counter. The staff is very friendly. Some tables and bar tables for the customers. Looking for a dessert place, we ordered this off of uber eats. The q milk was pretty good and refreshing. Not so sweet, and a healthy amount of taro. The caramel pudding was delicious and the mochi was the best part of our order. The boba on the side was a good touch. Unfortunately, the taro bowl wasn't very good. On Lunar New Year weekend, we stopped by Meet Fresh after our lunch. The store was somewhat clean and tidy. There was no mango items in menu again. Listen I had the coco mochi sago drink and it was so good! I was on a layover in town and this was a new feature display. It had coconut and sago and tasted AUTHENTIC like the time I visited Taiwan. An incredibly cute place to check out. We were in the Newport area and decided to walk into the Newport mall. The outside is really inviting with clean large windows. Walking in, the vibe was a mix of a cute tea shop you'd find in Asia mixed with a coffee shop vibe. We were impressed really by the size of the menu - there was so much to choose from. We decided to order the shaved mango ice and the mango green tea slush. Overall, the taste was sweet and perfect for a hot summer day. They also have warm options on the menu and many specials that include taro. I would say the mango wasn't anything unique that I've never tasted before but still good. I got the Double Taro Signature, which had ice cream, taro paste, taro balls (small sweet and chewy balls of taro), and grass jelly. I've seen each of these ingredients many times, but this is the only place I've seen that put them all together like this. The paste on the bottom (not 100% sure what it was) was not as tasty as the part on the top though. It was $10.25, which isn't cheap, but also isn't that bad considering the large portion size and many ingredients inside. The shop is conveniently right inside the Newport Mall. The service speed is ok and the staff are friendly. The place itself is a nice space with some seating (there are also tables in the nearby public outdoor areas). Overall, I would highly recommend Meet Fresh if you're in the mood for some Taiwanese desserts. They have an extensive menu of desserts like mine (both hot and cold) as well as drinks, so there will probably be something that appeals to you! read more

We were in the area and wanted to try something new. Looking online, I saw so many things that I wanted to try, like the bubble waffle, boba tea, and q mochi shaved ice. When I started ordering, I was able to get the shaved ice, but pretty much nothing else I wanted. I was told that the boba wasn't done brewing yet, and that they were not selling egg waffles at this time, which seemed like two of their main menu items from online. Got the signature ice. The bowl was packed really full and they prepared the food quickly. Taro balls were chewy and the smashed taro got the milky creamy tastes to it. The boba was only a little sweet and got a nice texture, which is great! They really put in a lot of ice so it's not overly sweet. There's still an entire half bowl of ice at the bottom left when I finished all other ingredients. Order made right, quick service, portion ok. This branch is of good standard. Note that they have only limited menu now, like 3 choices for the 3 main dessert categories. Check for Chowbus and Panda to see their available items. I've been missing Taiwan recently and came across this Meet Fresh location that just opened up at Newport Mall. They have an extensive menu ranging from grass jelly, taro paste, tofu fa (cold tofu dessert), bubble tea, fresh fruit smoothies, and shaved ice. I have been going almost every other day since it opened and I have still yet to try out half of their items. So far they have not disappointed me once. If this is your first time there, I highly recommend the tofu fa with sweet potato and/or taro balls. The sweet potatoes and taro balls have ground up sesame filling. I don't believe there are other dessert places that make their taros balls this way. The sweet potato/taro balls are soft and chewy just like thick mochi. I've ordered the biggest and highest priced ($16.53 after tax) pudding and q mochi shaved iced at the kiosk for dine in and was given what appeared to be a small to-go container that was marked (m) on it with little (melting) ice and ingredients. Love meet fresh drinks and desserts, which is why I'm giving and extra star. However, this location has constantly failed me. Either they run out of toppings or the order gets messed up. Been here multiple times. My last straw was when I placed an online order (a while ago and it was a pretty $$$ order) and toppings were still missing. I voiced my opinion through customer service and even took my time listing out the toppings on the orders. I was told that I'll get a refund which never happened and was even asked to recheck the toppings. Honestly, not worth the hassle to continue communicating further because I'm not going to sit here and spend more time going back and forth on toppings missed and my incorrect pricey order. I've already voiced out my concerns through customer service. Take it or leave it but I learned my lesson to avoid this place to save myself the trouble. Super disappointing. I have visited many meet fresh stores in US and China. This one was the worst in terms of food. The shaved ice looked worse, tasted worse, and sold more expensive. I don't really understand why they used sugar instead of condensed milk/honey/caramel as the sweeter for the ice. For a $16 bowl of shaved ice, it deserved to have better texture/sweeter. Super disappointing. I usually don't give reviews unless it really needs improvement. I'm a big fan of Meet Fresh and have tried multiple locations already. However, the "Hot Red Bean Soup Signature" was 70% pure water (soup), with VERY VERY few red beans, taro balls, boba. The portion (red beans, taro balls, boba) is at least HALF less than the Edison location. I don't understand why the gap is so huge in terms of quality and quantity between different stores. Plus, this Newport location is Over-Priced (Which I understand maybe it's higher rent). But please, keep the SAME quality since we were paying so MUCH MORE! Otherwise, I'm afraid people won't come back for the 2nd round. read more
