Love this place! I've been 3 times, two sets of lobes and one helix and i had a great time! The piercer is incredibly professional and really helps with keeping you calm if you're squeamish with needles (like me). I've even brought my friends with me and this is one of the few piercers that lets friends come into the room. Found this place from a friend who has several body piercings (ears, nose, eyebrows, dermal, tongue, lip, belly button, etc). I'm planning on returning for a hidden helix and an industrial bar! Most of the healing process is unfortunately up to the customer, which is why I think people give piercers a bad rep. You HAVE to clean your piercings frequently and do not touch. Only issue i've had is a small irritation bump on my helix from sleeping on it and my hair getting caught but that's on my end. Overall would definitely recommend! Update: I've gone and gotten the industrial bar! I was very relieved to know they pierce an industrial with two different needles rather than piercing them with the same one. They did a great job with placement and quickness. So excited to heal my new piercing! Update: I got a conch yesterday (June 30th 2025) and i love it! it turned out perfect and wasn't painful at all. Consistently the staff here have been rude and condescending. Honestly, after coming here for years and getting numerous inconsistent piercings (some very good, some on the opposite end of the spectrum, got septum and bridge pierced crooked, snake bites uneven), I have finally had enough because of the employees working the counter. It's a pretentious environment with staff cocking their heads like dogs at questions you have or not using correct terminology about jewelry. I once asked for a 'flat back' jewelry piece (meaning a floating curved barbell) and the employee met me with an eyeroll and told me very sternly "i have no idea what you're talking about...". Look, I have worked for my life in customer service and I absolutely get that customers are such idiots sometimes and frustration is real but the amount of bad experiences and being spoken down to that I and my friends have experienced here is out of control. read more

Service needs to be better honestly, it's always hot and cold with the workers. And it's mostly a piercing shop than a piercing PLACE because apparently there is one pircer and they're unpredictable with time. If you go hoping to get pierced it's basically a gamble. read more

My daughter and I went to Medusa today to get her ears pierced. They put the WRONG earrings in my daughter's ears. There is no way to fix it either. There should be some standard practice that the piercers should have to show you the jewelry prior to piercing. The lady at the counter was not sympathetic at all. She handed us a business card and said... contact the owner. Once my daughter looked in the mirror she instantly realized it and within seconds the piercer pulled out the right earring and said... is this what we were suppose to use? She said, "they mess up the letters." This leads me to believe this happens more frequently than it should. We we given the right earrings to have so in 8 weeks she can change them to correct ones. Thanks but no thanks. Moral of the story.. skip the mall piercings (aka Medusa) and go somewhere that takes pride in their business. read more

One of the only reasons I ever bother to go to the Mall at Rockingham Park. I got body piercings here several years ago and have purchased body jewelry numerous times. The prices for the piercing services are reasonable and sometimes they have special deals. The body jewelry is affordable and good quality, plus you can avoid paying MA sales taxes here. The day I got my piercings done, I was in and out pretty quick. I went into a clean private room for the piercing. The male piercer wasn't very personable but he got the job done. I don't recall him giving much information on aftercare, but thankfully I have multiple piercings so I knew what to do. I'd give a higher rating but I've had better experiences at other piercing and body jewelry shops. Still, it's a better option than getting pierced at one of those awful kiosks that uses a piercing gun, which is horribly unsanitary. read more

I've gone in for a change in jewelry for my nostril piercing three different times, and each time they somehow managed to miss the original piercing location and insert the jewelry into a completely new hole. I've gotten three piercings here in the last five or six years. No problem at all, until recently... I went in three weeks ago for a fourth piercing. I left happy about it. In the past week it started to swell and no I didn't sleep on my new piercing. While cleaning it I looked at the back of my ear and noticed how much space I DIDN'T have for proper healing and some swelling. (Btw I was given a ball instead of a flat back. First mistake) my ear was throbbing as if it was the first day also causing me to have an ongoing headache. After some further research of other piercers near by, (because I refused to go back to Medusa) I went to a known shop and asked them to please save my ear. He removed the jewelry that I was given and noticed the indentation the ball had left behind. I went in with pain and spent the rest of my Sunday afternoon without a throbbing ear and a massive headache. I loved Medusa because it was so convenient, but because of one piercers bad job I really do not see myself coming here again. I went in to get an industrial bar done. The woman who did the piercing was super nice and gentle (needles freak me out so I was really nervous). However when I went in I mentioned that I can't do cheap jewelry. I'm really sensitive to nickel. I was told they use surgical steel and it won't be an issue. Well 9 months pass (estimated healing time was 6-9 months) and the piercing isn't healing. Then 10 months, then 11. I followed the instructions for caring for it, was super careful, I did everything. Well a few quick google searches later and I find out that "surgical steel" isn't actually nickel free. To the point where everything else on the internet seems to recommend titanium. I bought a $6 titanium barbell that was the same gauge and length, and even with the irritation I cause switching the jewelry my ear is looking better than ever. It's been only 4 days and the difference is painfully obvious. I shouldn't be able to learn more on google in 5 minutes than a professional piercer apparently knows about the jewelry they're shoving in my body. My ear was never going to heal with what they used. The bar they put in wasn't even internally threaded. So yeah, the jewelry is cheap as hell. And when you consider that the better jewelry is also very cheap ($6, I suffered for 11 months and the solution was $6 jewelry), it's unacceptable. If you aren't sensitive to metals you're probably fine, but the general lack of knowledge isn't reassuring. If you are sensitive, avoid this place like the plague and find a better piercer. read more

I wish I could give this more stars, but my latest experience was not very good. when I first went quite a few years ago to get my nose done, it was by Tony, the owner. I have a near crippling phobia of needles, but wanted this done so badly. he was soothing, professional, and quick. it was such a fantastic experience I went back again when my friend and I got cartilage piercings for my birthday. We went on 05/08/24 around 5pm. and I think I know who pierced us but I can't be sure, so I will not put a name. I don't know if she was having a bad day or what, but I started off by saying I was nervous and had a fear of needles, and all she did was make discouraging comments the entire time and give us attitude. Things like, "Well why get a piercing then?" and "Well now you're making ME nervous," and "Don't apologize, you're only hurting yourself," and "Why are you scared, it's not like you're walking through a forest of needles." I didn't delay her, cause an issue, or make anything difficult during this process, but she was doing nothing but making me feel small and worse. My friend was horrified at her attitude. I will say it was a quick, clean job, but there the positives end. What was supposed to be a fun, "conquer-your-fear-with-this-piercing-you've-wanted-forever" experience turned into something i wouldn't want to go through again. read more

I had my nose pierced today, I came in around noon and was out ten/fifteen minutes later I left extremely happy. The piercing room was clean like a doctor's office and they sterilized all materials in front of me. The woman who did my piercing was very kind and walked me through what she would be doing before she did it. The piercing itself was quick and virtually painless. Before piercing the woman let me look at the dot she placed on my nose where the piercing would be and moved it when I wanted it in a different place. Made an appointment online and was seen the same day. I got my nose, 2 forward helixes, a flat, and a daith piercing. My piercer was Megan and she was the best! She thoroughly explained to me the jewelry we were using, where exactly I wanted it, and aftercare before she even pierced me. One thing I was particularly nervous about was my nose because I have the other side pierced already. Previously at another shop I got it done and they were uneven so I had to take it out. Got my septum pierced here, and it was pretty good. The piercer was friendly but did it way to fast in my opinion, I get that they have to get to a lot of customers in one day but they should take their time when poking a hole in someone. I loved the care and service I received today at Medusa. I was greeted by a full counter of people when I walked in the door and immediately asked if I needed any help. I came in to get my nose pierced so I answered some questions and I was quickly on my way to the piercing room. Once in the room I noticed quickly it was very clean and that made me happy. The piercer (wish I got her name but she had two hoops on one side of her nose) was knowledgeable and professional. She told me the steps she was going to take from cleaning to piercing. I was in and out quickly and nearly painlessly. She cleaned my nose before and after piercing which made me know right then she was good at what she did. Can't wait to go back to get the second hole done on this side. We spaced them out perfectly so that there would be room for it when I came back and I LOVED that she gave me options and made sure that I liked where she was going to put the stud before she put it in. The prices are great as well. They happened to be running a special so I got my nose pierced for $30. I've bought other jewelry there as well but I thought it would be more important to comment on the piercings since I know a lot of people go to the mall to get them. read more

I was trying to tell him my piercing is still fairly new and how the ring I had in was messed up but he decided to cut me off & started literally flicking the bar in my ear, abruptly asking what kind of jewelry it was. He then proceeded to pretty much rip it out before swapping to the new ring and when I stated that it hurt he just ignored me. He was also rushing me out the door in the meantime. This place has declined greatly over the years, I used to be pierced here aLl the time as a teenager, and continued bringing my business there for years after for jewelry. Given that everything is locked behind glass at all times (understandably so), the staff consistently follows customers around the store as they browse, standing behind them suspiciously repeating "what are you doing?" As if you may be stealing (which would be impossible anyways). I have encountered this behavior here MANY times, towards me, friends of mine, and even strangers also browsing the large selection. The piercer is always rude and short and EXTREMELY rough while piercing, and trying to let him know he's hurting you gets you nowhere - he 100% ignores you at best. But Friday was the straw that broke the camels back. My friend and I went in to have her jewelry changed onn a tragus piercing, explained that the gem had fallen off the earring making it difficult to remove without tools. He proceeded to flick her ear HARD multiple times, clamped the earring and ripped the old jewelry compleTely out of her ear, without unscrewing the top. It became extremely swollen because of it, and she's now dealing with the healing process all over again - due to negligence. Anyone who is pierced knows how much of a pain the healing process is... Will not be giving them my business any longer and will be recommending to anyone I can NOT to go to this establishment. read more

Went for the first time to get my industrial. I've had 9 piercings before at my usual place that went perfectly fine, no healing issues at all. I know the aftercare and I don't sleep on them. I tried here once because my piercer was having a family issue and was out of business for a while. It hasn't been 2 weeks and I have a keloid the size of my knuckle and it's sensitive to the touch. Because of Covid this place is booking by appointment only. I made it clear I needed dermals removed for an upcoming surgery, I needed to buy a few retainers for other piercings and I would be traveling from MA. I booked it DAYS in advance. I drove an hour to the Salem location for my appointment which was confirmed multiple times by text/email ALONG with a personal call from an employee the night before. When I arrive the girl at the front desk tells me the piercer who does dermal removals had gone home earlier due to a "family emergency". That's fine things happen but how do you NOT call your appointments and let them know they need to reschedule????? Their excuse was they have a new booking system they didn't know how to work. I bought jewelry from this establishment last week. The item I bought broke immediately after exiting the store. So I went back in. The man in the store immediately argued with me, while the woman was nice and accommodating because they don't do returns or exchanges. Which was really nice of her. The entire time she was helping me, her co worker was rude and argumentative. I took my new jewelry home and everything was fine. Until today. I found out I have a staph infection from a cut on my ear lobe from the gauge I had purchased at this store. I cleaned my jewelry. Everything was fine. Until the prong from the metal holding the diamond in cut my ear. This may or may not be there fault, but I have never in my life needed to seek medical attention for a healed gauge that I have changed countless amounts of times. I got one nipple piercing at spider bite (AWFUL IDEA) started searching for a better place to get the other one done and came across Medusa. I walked in and everyone was so nice! The whole store was so organized. After I agreed and signed everything a girl took my to a clean organized room in the back. She gave me her professional opinion on the one I just got done at spider bite and what to do with it. I was so thankful she did that because I was so upset with it I didn't even know what to do! She then went onto marking me up for the other nipple piercing. She lined it up perfect and I couldn't be happier! Her name is Rachael and she is extremely knowledgable with piercings! I loved this place they were very professional and informative. I got my baby girl's ears pierced and the guy that did the piercing was really nice and patient with my 2 month old. I also really like that the piercings are done in a sterile clean room closed off to other customers. I like having that private moment instead of doing it at a kiosk in the middle of the mall while people walk by and stare. I have always gone to Medusa in Salem NH. I love Tony's work and mannerism. I recently went in for jewelry change because my kept falling out (The ball getting coming out) I go in and repurchase all new jewelry to match the new color I bought and two days later one of the balls falls out on top of my desk at work. I find it and try to put it back on. Well it didn't even tighten meaning he sold me a piece of stripped jewelry. Tony knew it was stripped because he put it in. I have always been a fan of this place and referred tons of people here, but if this company is gonna try to play be out of a $5.99 stripped jewelry instead of just getting a new one from their huge box outside I will take my business elsewhere! When you buy from here check everything before walking out or letting them change it. Obviously the $6 is a big deal from them.... I haven't been back since! Like DON'T play your customer's MEDUSA! As most others are nervous of being stabbed with a needle by an unknown stranger, I walked into Medusa seeking a compassionate piercer. Not only do the front store employees lack compassion, but the male piercer here is extremely rude and aggressive. Unlike the studio I got my navel pierced at, the piercer here failed to explain how he was going to pierce my nose nor show me any of the materials he was going to use while doing so. He stuck some metal rod in my nose, prompted me to take a deep breath, then went ahead and stabbed me with a needle. I felt rushed out of there and figured it must have been an off day. I decided to give the studio another chance by going in to have my original nose ring changed to a clear one. The piercer, same guy, told me it was infected and asked why I hadn't changed it within 6 weeks of having it pierced. No one at the studio told me it had to be changed within 6 weeks of having it pierced...anyways. The annoying bubble beside my piercing disappeared, but only for a few days. I went back today to have the ring changed again and asked that the piercer be careful as it was clearly infected. The piercer then informed me that he "did not know magic," then proceeded to rip my old ring out and replace it. NOT HAPPY WITH THIS PLACE AT ALL.
