I used to visit the Piercing Emporium for years it was always my go-to spot. It had been about six years since my last visit, and I don't know what's happened since then, but wow... this place has gone downhill. I stopped in recently to ask a few questions about setting up an appointment, and I've never experienced customer service that bad in my life. Whoever they have working the front was unbelievably rude and unprofessional. I seen very nice piercing work on a girl in a grocery store and asked her where she went and she told me Piercing Emporium. One day after finishing up some homework on my laptop at a cafe, I just walked into the place at around 1pm ish and decided to repierce my nipples and requested two piercers at the same time as my last experience at a parlor in Georgia was not so great and they never healed after 3 years of having them. Both piercers were quick, professional, informative, and helped me breathe through the process and I am extremely happy about my outcome. It's been almost a year and they seem to have been healed after only a few months of having them. I love love love them and the place is so cute, fun, full of warm people who know their business because all questions I had were answered and they were moving quick as I just walked in and it was pretty busy! She was very patient with me and practiced mindfulness she could tell I was very nervous. I was so nervous I forgot to ask a lot of questions prior to the piercing. My daughter got her daith pierced, the girl that pierced us was so friendly and even though my daughter was freaking out before she got it done (she's 18, it was a birthday present and she has like 10 piercings already) the piercer (i think Alyssa) was so calm and just gave her a little time. The whole trip there was great. I have never had a bad experience there. I got three piercings here (the rook was about a year ago and the conch was yesterday not pictured is my nose). I worked with Nikki tonight and she was absolutely incredible. We didn't do any new piercings but we did a lot of jewelry changes and i am so happy with the results. Nikki was so great the whole time, chatting, asking questions, we vibed and laughed so much. (Nikki if you're reading this i want to be friends) She's so real and herself and makes you feel super comfortable in the chair. The other thing i really appreciated, is when i told her what i wanted, she was honest with me that it probably wouldn't be great, and we were able to find something different that i ended up loving more than my original idea. I've been to piercing places in Michigan, Philadelphia, New York and elsewhere in Boston and this was hands down the best experience I ever had !!! Guy at the front desk was super nice and friendly and made us feel welcome. My friend and I had good banter with him and he was helpful with picking jewelry. ALSO THE JEWELRY SELECTION IS AMAZING !!! At other places I've had to settle but here the pieces they had were so gorgeous that it was hard to choose. Also you get free saline with your purchase which is a nice touch Our piercer Catherine was incredible. Best piercer I've had, I got my tragus and helix done by her and it was not painful at all, she walked me through the process and was SUPER validating. I would give this place a zero if I could but unfortunately that is not an option. I have 10 piercings and this was hands down my absolute WORST piercing experience. I came here to get my nipples pierced a little over a year ago. They didn't ask me if I preferred a female piercer (as a woman) which should have been the first red flag. I was pierced by two male piercers who were aggressive and did not communicate with me or with each other. One of the guys pinched my nipple so hard, without warning me first, that I thought it was going to bleed. The pain was excruciating which I did not expect as someone who has a high pain tolerance. The experience was so bad that I walked out of the room violently shaking. I was in so much pain that I couldn't drive or really move much for the next week. To this day (it's been about a year and a month) they have not healed and are still painful. I have been cleaning them per the piercers instructions every single day and taking all measures to help them heal. Please please do not go to this piercing place! read more

OUR EXPERIENCE: I did A LOT of research, and decided if given the correct environment, I wanted to have my 3 - month -old's ear's pierced before she became mobile. I contacted the owner per the instruction of the super thorough front desk staff, and we e-mailed back and forth about some education, the process, precautions, etc., and then made the appointment. The appointment was perfection, and he treated my daughter's little lobes like they were the most important things ever (they are, ha!), and she literally didn't even cry, he might also be a magician. First off, the staff at the front desk were friendly, courteous, and professional. 3 stars because I drove 40 minutes after researching online to get a piercing, only to find out when I got there that they no longer allow walk-ins on Saturdays. When I suggested they update their website to say that, I was told that they bought the business from someone else four years ago and do not have access to update the webpage. Sorry but this isn't acceptable imo. If you have a business, you can't have a website with the wrong information on it. If they really don't have the ability to update it, they should buy a new domain and start from scratch. In addition to their webpage, their Yelp info says nothing about needing an appointment. One Yelp comment said they had to wait as a walk-in and the response by the owner was that they could skip the line with an appointment, which is ok, I was prepared to wait. Their FB info says "Please feel free to stop by our studio at any time." The only place I could find after my trip that says appointments are needed was buried in a FB post, not in the info section. So if you didn't happen to scroll down through all the posts showing people's piercings and tattoos, you'd never see it. read more

Wow - I would give this place 10 stars if I could! The only downside - and there is nothing they can do to help it is that it is street parking and it can be difficult to find a space nearby. I brought my two month old daughter in to have Mark pierce her ears. He came highly recommended from just about everyone I know in the area! They do not take appointments for piercings and Mark is the only one that pierces babies ears. The front desk staff got us in quickly and the paperwork was fast. They helped us pick out the earrings that would work best and gave me a brief rundown on care instructions. Mark was beyond great with my daughter. He described everything he would do and then talked thru everything while he was doing it. His room was perfectly clean and you could just tell he takes pride in keeping everything sterile. Her ears were both pierced with sharp needles in less than 30 seconds and she only cried for about 15 seconds after!! (instead of going and having that nasty piercing gun at a mall place!). He gave very detailed instructions on how to keep the areas clean and your cleaning spray is included in the cost. I will say it is MUCH more expensive to have them pierced here but the peace of mind and knowing how clean it was is beyond worth it. They use surgical grade earring studs so they won't cause infection and the skin won't grow over them - and they are the type of studs you never have to take out - you can simply twist off the top design piece and put on a new one. They took me in right away and were able to replace my jewelry. I got the longer post I needed so that my piercing can heal correctly, and they also taught me how to properly care for the piercing (the place I had gone to had me using these soaps etc. that I didn't really end up needing!) Such a great experience! I went a few years ago for my nose piercing and it was a phenomenal experience, and I went back today to get my helix pierced, and brought two friends as well to get a septum and nose piercing. They were WONDERFUL as usual. They were so accommodating and answered all of our questions. When we went back into the piercing room, they realized they were out of stock of the size of my friends septum piercing she wanted. I went to Piercing Emporium in Worcester. I had my second tragus done. I also decided to get two dermals on my left side for a "surface tragus" which came out beautifully. I also downsized my right side high nostril snake piercing because it stuck out a lot and after the downsize it sits so flush and looks much better, I love it. Now for the good part and what I really appreciate from the shop. I custom ordered my entire vertical labret. The bar length, the top, the bottom. And I custom ordered a white opal heart that's threaded (usually threadless) because everything else is threaded. No one said once screwed on it could be upside down, which is what happened. After the price and wait I started crying and didn't know what to do. The shop had the same piece in stock, threadless, which they gave me for free. They also gave me the shortest threadless bar they had and the smallest titanium ball for the bottom for free. Not only that, they are re-ordering the same sized bar I had and same bottom I had, except threadless, for free, and are rushing the custom order. They helped me so much when I was crying because the top I'd been dying for was upside down. Even offering to pay they wouldn't let me so I made sure I tipped well. They are my go-to. read more

I have come to piercing emporium since it was on the other side of shrewsbury street in a smaller place. This establishment itself is very professional, but I have to say my experience is ruined everytime I've come due to the women in the front who you speak with before getting pierced. Every experience even before covid I was never greeted kindly or with a smile. They make you feel dumb for even wanting a piercing a threw snarky remarks to my daughters tattoos after not being able to tell if she got them in a shop or not. They also preceded to give unneeded criticism towards my daughter for getting a tattoo in a house, but I'd rather get pierced with a rusty sewing needle if it meant getting greeted with a smile or even thank for the money I'm giving to this establishment. They are just so rude, the piercers however are sweethearts , dolls nicest people I've ever met, But the anger in the women in the front is atrocious, they are mean,rude and downright just a negative energy ! read more

I came here about a year and a half ago for a cartilage and daith piercing. I was nervous coming in, but the staff is wonderful. They let you take as much time as you want to pick out jewelry and they don't push you into something you may not want. They will only offer you earrings they know will look good and the emporium is clean. It's a bit dark in there, but everyone there is fantastic, and they will replace your earrings if you want new ones. 5 reviews Long story short: Overpriced and care more about the money than their customers satisfaction... I used to love this place and only go here for my piercings. But now that they are huge, they care way more about money than their customers satisfaction. Prices are also pretty insane. They used to be pretty reasonable for the fantastic quality they give(and still give) my point on leaving this review is just on customer satisfaction. They don't take your opinions into account when it comes to piercings. I went in and needed my bellybutton ring to changed from when I first got it pierced. So the bar was extremely long. So when I picked out the jewelry, they eyeball measured how long they needed my post. Not even from the piercing room. Just looked and my navel from behind the counter and guessed the length I needed. After getting the ring, it looked a bit snug to me. I tried it out anyways. But after a few days of having this new and snug belly ring, my bellybutton was getting infected from it being suffocated with he jewelry. So I went back and told them I think I need a bigger bar. They did not agree with me at all. So I said fine whatever, can I please just buy a longer bar and I'll do it myself. Then they said they could not sell me just the bar, I would have to buy another entire belly ring (after I had already paid $50 for the first one, and $15 for them to change it out for me. So $75 total). So now I have to try going some where else, or find my size belly ring online. Next time, please actually measure for people. Not just with your eyes from behind the counter. And maybe you should take customers opinions into account.... now I'm stuck with a belly ring that is too tight and causing my belly button to be irritated and not heal right. I will NOT be going back ever again. Sad because they used to be my favorite. read more

I first found this place when I was looking to get my nose pierced. The inside is squeaky clean and has a great selection of jewelry. I forget the name of the gentleman who pierced my nose, but he was incredibly nice and friendly and made me feel very comfortable. My only complaint is that you can't schedule a time to be pierced; you just have to show up and hope for the best. I understand they don't want to lose money by reserving spaces and having people not show up, but a simple deposit could remedy this. I had to wait 45 minutes when I came back in the middle of a weekday to have a shorter post put in. That's pretty much my only complaint. I visited this place again when I was looking to get my feet tattooed. I worked with Shoe, who was absolutely fantastic start to finish. I felt like he really took the time to understand what I wanted and the meaning behind it. I actually wanted to get text on my feet along with an image on each foot and he explained to me (ad nauseum because I'm a brat) that in order to get the words I wanted the writing would have to be so small it wouldn't look good in a decade or so. He told me he would do what I wanted at the end of the day, but he wanted me to be happy with it not just when I left, but for the rest of my life. Shoe not only created two fantastic tattoos, he also provided me with his expertise and I'm so happy I (finally, begrudgingly) listened! My tattoos are perfect and he was 100% correct in regards to the picture vs. text discussion. I can't recommend him highly enough. He also offers free touch ups for 6 months in case anything fades or needs to be fixed. read more

I just went in with a few minutes before work. I have a gift card for $250 & I was trying to buy some new nipple rings and a new Monroe. There were a few ppl up ahead working with other associates, but no one near me. The homely lady behind the counter without saying hi or asking what I wanted, rudely told me that I need to wait behind the rope and they'll call me up. I was ready to give her money at that moment & knew exactly what I wanted. That's why I went on my way to work. It doesn't need to take much time to literally tell her what I want, and hand over the money. I wasn't looking to get pierced. I didn't need help picking anything out, and I didn't have any questions. I even knew the size and gauge. They just lost my business for jewelry forever. I will try to get a refund on my gift card because I really don't feel like they deserve my business. I realize I probably won't be able to get a refund, but once I'm done with this I will never go in there to buy jewelry again. I didn't need any help and she didn't bother to ask what I was there for. I've had very good experience getting pierced here, and the piercers are great, but this it's not the first time the customer service associates behind the counter were awful.
